Visited store today around 11:30-12:30. Two ladies working there; blonde older lady in her 60-70s and a brunette lady in her 50-60s. I asked to get my two rings that I had previously purchased from there to be cleaned in their jewellery cleaner. The blonde lady said store policy doesn't allow them to clean rings in store since COVID. I expressed that it was weird cause I only purchased these rings not even a year ago and while I was finalising the transaction, the lady helping me offered to clean my other jewellery in store. When I expressed this, the blonde lady said bluntly "no it's not weird, that's just policy." She kept saying THAT'S POLICY. I get it, I've worked in retail and there are policies in place for a reason but she was just so blunt and condescending that I felt attacked. I don't know why she bought up the fact that she worked at the Harbourtown store but she did and again, IT'S POLICY. I was just stating that it was weird that if that had been the case since COVID then why was that service offered to me after the fact. She just didn't want to hear it and kept being unpleasant. She also said that she used to work for Michael Hill and they've also stopped cleaning rings in stores since COVID too but I had just dropped my ring off to them for a clean before going to Shiels to drop off these other two off. Michael Hill have never refused to clean my ring while I shopped and I drop it off there every few months since 2017. Her response was "oh, well they must've changed policy again." At stage, I don't really care to dispute her claims. I wasn't even being rude about the entire situation. She was just annoyed that I was asking for this service that they offered in the past. Just when I was accepting the fact that is what it is and was making my way out of the store, the brunette lady said to the blonde that they had a jewellery cleaner in the back room that they can just do it. So after a good few minutes of IT'S POLICY, they did it anyway but still saying it's not professionally cleaned and if I have a care plan (I do) they can send it off for a clean. I explained that I just wanted a quick clean as I will be going away in less than two weeks. After about 20 minutes I returned to collect my rings and they had another younger brunette lady working. The store was quite busy at the time so I patiently waited my turn. Blonde lady clearly saw me waiting but she took over the younger lady's customer instead of serving me. I wasn't even being rude or difficult but she clearly didn't want to serve me which is fine but I thought it was just very immature and unprofessional of her to act that way. The younger lady already knew who I was when I told her I was there to collect my rings and she proceeded to try and sell the $12.95 jewellery cleaner they used to clean my rings. This was the second time they tried to sell it to me. The blonde lady had already said that this was what they used to clean in store. I don't want to buy the cleaner and do it myself thats why I came to the store to have them do it. As a returning customer, I just expected the same level of care and customer service I received while making the purchases in the past. All I wanted was to be able to drop my rings off for a quick clean while I did my shopping and come back to collect them later. This is one of the perks of having a care plan with any jewellery store but not anymore according to Shiels. The experience I got from the staff working at the Westlakes store was today was extremely disappointing. I will not be returning to this store in the future. They treated me like a burden and because I wasn't spending anything in store today, it won't help them meet their KPIs so I didn't matter. I came in looking to snag some Black Friday deals as well as get my rings cleaned but because of the interaction of the staff, didnt want to be there any longer. I'll be going to another branch in the future and can only hope that it'll be a better experience.

Woman inside asked me 2x in under 20 seconds what I was looking for and was EXTREMELY pushy about buying something... ma'am, with all due respect, I am happy to look. I do not need your questions nor extreme pushiness when looking for something as important as a once in a lifetime ring and I certainly will not be deciding in under a minute. Left the shop extremely quick... had enough of the pushiness of the woman inside. It's important to let your customers simply look... if we want or need you and you're across the bench already... you're already making me feel uncomfortable and too close... how am I supposed to mentally picture if I like something? AVOID if looking for wedding and engagement rings. Horrifc. Go to Angus and coote instead... they're lovely and extremely welcoming and not at all pushy in any way but rather customer service focussed

We have been loyal customers for around 20 years, and have spent many thousands with them, including our wedding rings 15 years ago (and about $2000 in the last twelve months). I previously had issues with a watch a few years back which stopped working after a week, and where the staff weren’t interested in helping (the sale had been done, and commission sorted I assume), but today, when I attempted to ask to have my wedding ring resized (I was happy to pay), I was told by an uninterested and impolite young lady that they don’t do that unless I have a copy of my receipt (from 15 years ago), despite the fact they still sell the same design of ring. SHIEL’s has just lost another customer.

Shocking service. Returned a faulty ring only 4 weeks after purchasing - staff rude and uninterested in my patronage. Initially refused to do anything in regards to the faulty product as I didn’t have my receipt yet they clearly had my purchase details on file. Once my details were obtained from their records they continued to dispute the fault. It was an awful process. They replaced the ring with another which was clearly also a dud (solder lines and imperfections all over the band). I pointed them out in which they responded with ‘that’s how they are’. I’ll never return again.

Was waiting to purchase a pair of earrings for a good 10 minutes. 1 staff member was serving a customer & the other was playing with photo's & her phone. No acknowledgement until I asked if there was only 1 of them was working, incase the other was on her break.. No she's working too was the answer & she swung into work mode. I was done by then & told her she just lost a sale & I'm sure her boss would love that .. She replies with I am the boss !! WTAF seriously?! Sure little girl u own sheils, I think they need to audit their staff or reintroduce CUSTOMER SERVICE

In these unprecedented times there is no need to rude, callous and especially unfriendly to your customers. We are totally aware and understand the importance of "Covid Check In" in every store/shop. After a 7 day lockdown, I was really looking forward to taking my better half and spoil her with something special. At entry point to Shiels Jeweler's, we were barked at by a lady called Kab, she was absolutely rude and arrogant as we (my wife and I) were signing in. I am appalled by such poor customer service of this store.

Jenny is fantastic always looks after my wife and myself. Would not go anywhere else as we get a great deal. Been dealing with Albert BenSimon and Sheils for nearly 40 years and have always had great service excellent value. Jenny is a great Ambassador and I always look for her when I want to buy. Do yourself a favour visit westlakes ask for Jenny tell them Paul recommended them and you will not be disappointed. Great Store!

I called the Shiels store at West Lakes and was helped by Kate. The service I received was outstanding. Kate was extremely helpful and even when my husband went into the store to buy my earrings, she was more than happy to provide him with the same excellent service. Thank you Kate for your amazing service and friendliness. We will definitely be returning to see you in the future!

Come and see Kayla, down to earth, kind polite, explanation of every questions you ask. She has a good knowledge about Jewelleries. The main behind this feedback was her generosity and enthusiasm. She is what a shop needs. Very professional and good prices. Hears to customers views. Thank you kindly Kayla.

One of the worst jewellers I've ever been to. I went on Saturday with my daughter. The lady looked at us like we just dropped from outer space! There wasnt a smile on anyones faces. It was like they were being forced to work or we were a burden to her! Never going there again. Or recommending that store.

been there two times in the last week to look at a ring and both times had two different, very rude sales persons. One yawned in my face and was extremely disinterested and unhelpful. Won’t be going back for Christmas presents i was planning to buy or anytime in the future.

  • Craig Mcgair

If there was an option for zero stars then I would give the staff member that, extremely rude and unhelpful to a first time customer. Guaranteed u won't get my money again, I should have gone elsewhere and will next time. Hopefully you get some real staff eventually.

  • Joanne Macheda

Both staff members were rude and unhelpful. Everything seemed too difficult, including removing items from the display cabinet so I could have a closer look. Staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than serving customers.

  • Nicky Zaikis

Worst experience I've ever had. They did not honour the price advertised. Very unprofessional and no polite. To all future customers, think twice about shopping at Shield at West lakes.
