I’m giving this restaurant three stars because of the excellent service we received from the manager, Annika and our waiter Greg. The chef is rolling out a new menu, so they definitely need to work out some of the kinks. For drinks, we ordered The heinously and the corpse reviver. The beet juice in the heinously was a little off-putting, but we definitely loved the corpse reviver. We ordered the charred octopus, the pan seared Alaskan halibut, the king Cole duck breast, the St. Helena ribeye steak, and the whole fried Tai snapper. We also ordered the truffle fries. Overall, the food was too salty for our taste. Also, we are used to food that is more clean. There are a lot of elements to each dish with very similar consistency. For example, the charred octopus had purée carrots, the duck also was over purée, and the fried snapper was over a thick sauce. The duck breast was extremely chewy. I had to spit my bite out. We asked for the ribeye to be cooked medium, but we had to send it back twice because it was so undercooked. I really enjoyed the fried snapper on its own without the vegetables and the sauce. They should consider serving it on its own. For dessert we had the short berry and the mudslide tart. The mudslide tart was incredible. We ended up eating three orders.

I came here for my birthday! The inside was clean and moody. We were sat promptly as we reserved, and the waiter helped us choose what to order. We got a raw scallop appetizer which featured plums, and it was delicious! The scallop was soft, the sauce on top was salty but balanced by the tangy sweetness of the plum slices. For our entrees, we got the lamb and halibut. Lamb was mouth watering and soft enough to fall off the bone. It was amazing, with hints of sweet carrot and peas. It was topped on a bed of couscous which absorbed the heavy flavor of the meat perfectly. The halibut was also extremely soft, served with veggies that played into the flavor of the fish. Amazing. A little bank-breaking, but it's a perfect spot for a special occasion.

A wonderful experience in downtown Seattle - our waiter was present but not overbearing, informative and fun. The food was fantastic - we had the grilled octopus (beautifully tender with a delicious smokiness and great sauce), scallops (sweet, fresh and perfectly cooked), black cod (beautiful presentation and perfectly prepared, tender and juicy) and oysters (fresh and complemented with a delicious sauce). Cocktails were presented in an amusing cinema-inspried curation that was all very delicious and thoughtful. Probably our new favorite restaurant in Seattle... Worth the trip from Vancouver!

Overall: Great option for upscale dining, especially if you like seafood. The good: Charred octopus was melt in your mouth goodness, and the truffle fries were crispy and flavorful (as well as big enough to split between 3-4 people). The scallops risotto was hearty and filling, and the scallops themselves were fresh and cooked well. Overall the portion sizes were pretty good and we didn't leave hungry. They had a good-sized menu for cocktails, which were great. Atmosphere is modern and clean but didn't feel sterile or cold. The not-so-good: Food menu is limited and the service was pretty slow at times. Prices are a little too high. Limited seating. Food/drink: 8.5/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 8/10

A friend was in Seattle for one night on 7/25/23 due to a flight delay and wanted a good local spot with a good vibe and excellent food. He ordered a half dozen oysters, and pork loin, I ordered the duck. The food looked delicious, my friend loved the oysters, and the pork loin was, “okay,” and he only ate half of it. Duck is one of my favorite proteins, and I got excited when it hit the table. Sadly it was served with a less than clean knife that required replacement, and the duck was very much on the chewy side. The highlight of the experience was the service, from the moment we walked in the door to our departure, the service was top notch.

Usually not a fan of restaurants located in hotels but what a wonderful surprise Shaker + Spear was. Seasonal entrees change frequently. Raw oysters, and prosciutto toast as appetizers. Our Alaskan salmon was some of best I've had, pork shoulder was delicious, and halibut with black lentils was perfectly cooked. A side of just right asparagus, and truffle fries. Cocktails were tasty. Desserts and after-dinner port to top it all off. Service was excellent. Prices reflect the quality of the food and service, but well worth it.

Absolutely the must-go place in Seattle with creative menu that combines fresh seafoods and rich layers of flavor! Started with ceviche, tartare and crudo as the appetizer and I’d highly recommend ceviche and tartare! Charred octopus and scallops were incredibly tender and flavorful. You might find these two dishes pretty common at NWP restaurants but you will find them here so special and cannot miss. The mains were delicious as expected and I like the Alaskan halibut the most because it’s crispy with the right temperature and salty level.

Amazing dining experience, if you like fresh seafood - this is your place. I especially love that there's a lot of dairy free options too. I personally dont like my meals prepared with excessive anounts of butter. The flavors of the dishes were perfectly balanced. Highly recommend the curry crab soup, everyone at our table raved about it. I enjoyed the scallops and steelhead trout dish. Service was top notch. No complaints!

Fantastic experience. Food was amazing and service was fast and friendly. The scallops were delicious and the surf and turf tartare was seasoned perfectly. Parmesan Truffle fries were the BEST IVE EVER TASTED. they had big bits of black truffle throughout ~ every bite was truffle heaven. The oyster shucking person needs to get a bit more practice... not so happy with the shucking job. Cocktails are worth a mention with the fun themes. Definitely check this place out... but maybe skip the oysters.

This place sits on the cusp of “great”. The menu advertises the food to be more exotic than it really is. The halibut, for example was described as having scapes and fiddlehead ferns. There was one small fiddlehead on the top of the fish and I found only one slice of a scape. I’m not overly troubled by this but the prices are high and the food is quite good, but with just a little more effort, this place could be great. It seems like a place to come on a business trip when you aren’t paying the bill. I think there are probably other places worth going instead but this isn’t a bad choice.

Came here on a Sunday evening as a walk-in. They weren’t able to accommodate us for a table (despite being guests of the hotel) but were able to seat us at the bar. Turned out to be a blessing because the bartender, Rick, was excellent as a server (in addition to making great cocktails). The cocktails were all excellent, as were the octopus appetizer and halibut entree. The risotto was good but got to be a little “much” by the end of the entire dish. Will definitely be back the next time we’re in Seattle.

Came here with wife and mother-in-law for dinner. Reservations are highly recommended since this restaurant doesn’t have too many seatings. We ordered Manila clams, some oysters, scallops, octopus and for dessert we had cheesecake and Paris-Brest. The dishes overall were impeccable from both plating to taste. The scallops and the cheesecake were our favourite! The oysters were tiny though . Was a bit disappointed that sparkling water and draft beer were both ran out on that day. The service was alright. Would be happier if we got half the attention compared to the table next door

Walked in on a Friday night without a reservation and got lucky with bar seats. Which I am so glad we did, we had the best bartender. Very nice and engaging. I had the risotto with shrimp which was pretty good. And a friend had the pork shoulder which he said was a little dry. We had a chocolate tart for desert which was delicious and hit the spot. All and all a great experience made by the bartender.

Everything about this place is perfect. The service is top of the line with extremely knowledgeable staff, delicious local and inventive food and a cozy, timeless atmosphere. Best hidden spot for scrumptious food and drink and a must eat for any Seattlite. Absolutely loved the duck breast and their unique take on local mussels. The Hamachi crudo is perfectly seasoned and just delicious.

The service is so good I feel apologetic not giving full mark on the food. I found using beans or lentils for sause base is a bit of shame as it didnt give any character to the sause. Quite blend. Ashame as the halibut was fresh and perfectly seared and octopus was grilled to perfection. I am let done by the sause. I didnt taste the citrus relish except a few pieces of pickled chilli that wasnt enough to give the sause a bit of tanginess it needs.

Magnificent. I had a fantastic meal here and I absolutely loved the vibe. The black cod entree has a nice sear, is full of flavors, and just melts right into your mouth! The manila clams are very tasty too and I also enjoyed their local greens salad with the roasted delicata squash. Highly recommended restaurant. Will definitely be back for more of their delicious seafood.

This place is amazing for people, who love sea food. Overall the ambience is amazing along with service. We ordered Duck, Calamari, Risotto, and bread rolls. Sea food was amazing, but I won't recommend this place when it comes to veg options. Looks like I was the only veg person in the group and it didn't work well in my case.

We took the octopus, salmon and truffle fries. I was impressed by the food overall - but especially so by the full bodied taste of the veggies! Minimalist recipes, but good produce and good cooking. The service was fast. Minus one star for the price that seems a bit high with regards to what you’re getting.

Had reservations for a weeknight and was seated right away. Friend and I ordered the honey Brie prosciutto toast and street corn. Both were very tasty and good! Entrees we shared the penn cove mussels and the whole fried tai snapper. The fish was little bland but with the sauce and the arugula on the side it was great and refreshing! The mussels, was more of a paella than what we expected off the menu, but it was still good!
