I went to get my hair cut and styled in an undo for my graduation a couple days ago. I realized 15 minutes prior to my appointment that when booking me the employee booked for the wrong month! In a panic I called them and they thankfully moved things around to still get me in and do everything I booked for, which was great, I appreciate them correcting their wrong. When I arrived the employees were lounging on the couches at the front and I wasn’t greeted with a nice welcome. My hairstylist didn’t even introduce herself so I have no idea what her name is. From the start of the appointment she was rude and seemed uninterested. I told her I would like a trim and she did so without any further questions, she just followed my hair from before and didn’t communicate with me; she didn’t even do my front pieces/ bangs, so those still have dead ends. It was very quick. When it came time to style my hair I showed my reference photo. She proceeded to tell me that it won’t look like that because our hair types are different, which I get. She did communicate her plan with me for the most part but it ended up not looking like anything I pictured or asked for. She made me feel uncomfortable asking for areas to be changed or would say, rudely, “I can’t do that” or “that wont work on your hair” but I know for a fact that the things I was asking for could work because I have done it before. My final hairstyle was not clean and looked like I had done it myself without a mirror. I noticed the other hairstylist looking over at my hair and what she was doing with an almost “concerned” look. I felt so awkward and wanted to cry from all the stress I was caused. The time it took my hairstylist to cut and style my hair was evident in the final product; I was quoted it would take an hour and a bit but she finished in 40 minutes, I wish she took the time to make it look neat. I spoke more with the other hairstylists than my own. I found out after that my hairstylist was the one who originally messed up my appointment which did not impress me. I believe I spoke with the owner and she was understanding in the price, which I appreciated. I might suggest this place for someone to try, just a different hair stylist. I wish I could say which one not to book with but again, she didn’t tell me her name and I don’t want to say a name in case it’s someone else.

A very bitter after taste with my last experience. I had booked an appointment for my daughter. Her usual hairdresser, Rihana, is fantastic. Unfortunately she wasn't available and I chose instead to book her with Daniela. The appointment was at 6.15pm. It is worth noticing that my daughter has short hair and only needed a trim with clippers. After less than 20 minutes of work (the receipt actually shows transaction at 6.37pm), my daughter comes back with a good looking hair cut. Daniela choses to bill a full woman's cut and shampoo. Tax and 15% tip included is worth 60 dollars. I understand that she applies the prices given at the salon, however I would have greatly appreciated if that price reflected the actual amount of work needed rather than the gender of the customer. The next day I asked about this and she chose to keep the bill as is. Well, maybe I will send my daughter back there, but definitely not with this person.

My name is Christine Walker. I had my first appointment at this hair salon with Mariella. I was in desperate need of a good hair cut and to have my hair coloured. I am extremely pleased with what she's done. The highlights are EXACTLY as I had asked and so was my haircut. Sadly I had been to another salon in Barrhaven (expensive might I add) where the hair cuts were awful, which is why I had to switch to another hair dresser. Mariella: Thank you ever so much. You are the best hairdresser that I have ever had to date. I highly recommend her! - Oct 2018 - Had my second appointment with Mariella. She cut my hair once more and had blond highlights and once more she did exactly what I had asked her to do. The end results are gorgeous. Once again, Mariella, thank you ever so much!

I saw Christine at Serenity for a Japanese hair straightening and was extremely happy with the outcome! I’d driven to Toronto twice (before finding Christine) to have it done and they’d done so much damage more than 1/2 my hair fell out. Christine did a consult and told me how to repair my hair- and she made sure it was strong enough before she did anything to it. My hair looks better AFTER Christine worked on it! She uses K18 during the process to minimize damage and kept a close eye on me knowing I’d had trouble in the past. I’m already looking forward to booking in again in 10-12 months for my next straightening- and seeing her for trims in between. Christine made this such an amazing experience- I cannot recommend her enough!! She’s an absolute gem.

I finally decided to get my hair cut after more than 2 years of putting it off.... I had never been to Serenity before so I booked online with whoever was available and hoped for the best. I went in and Tanya was my hairdresser. I asked her to remove at least 8 inches and give me something low maintenance and she NAILED IT. I absolutely love the cut!!! Not only does it feel great having chopped off all that extra hair but she gave it shape and a few layers without giving me any extra work! It was also a great time! We chatted and laughed basically the whole time and I had a wonderful experience. Tanya, you make me want to cut my hair more than just once every two years! I will definitely be back!

I don't usually write reviews, but Serenity Salon & Spa is definitely a hidden gem. If you need ever need any waxing done, highly recommend asking for Ambreem! She's the most professional and competent esthetician I've ever met. She explains the procedures she's about to do and is thorough in her work. She creates a comfortable atmosphere for her clients and is a self-learner, so you know that she's only going to get better at what she does over time - and she's already super quick at what she does without sacrificing quality. I've had many estheticians over the year, and Ambreem is the best one I've had!

This is not my normal salon but my guy was away on holidays and I was in need of a chop. By chance, i was in the area and decided to give them a go. Asked about the pricing, seemed decent to me and Daniela was the lucky one who was chosen to cut my curls. She was very professional and made me feel like I have been going to this location for an eternity. I told her what i wanted, she performed well and i left a happy customer. Thank you to Serenity Salons and most importantly to my hairdresser Daniela. Would definitely return to this business and Daniela.

Christine is a master colour artist for hair! I always come out of the salon looking amazing. She knows exactly what to suggest for colour, cut and styling for me. The salon has ensured that everyone is masked, spaces are cleaned and capacity is reduced so I feel very safe having my hair done at Serenity Salon & Spa. I have tried many, many salons in Ottawa over the years and this is my favourite by far - very friendly and inviting and the quality of the staff is outstanding. Highly recommended!

If you are looking to get any form of waxing - Ambereen/Amber is the one! She is friendly and fun to be around and hands down the best waxist I ever had! She is renowned in Barrhaven for her waxing talents! - She is fast, effective with an almost pain free experience! In fact I have never experienced such little pain in my life during a waxing! -And trust me I have had plenty of waxist before, and they don't even come close!

I brought my 7 year old daughter in for a cut and style last night and had a wonderful experience. The stylist, Tanya, was great with her and even showed me a few styling tricks. My daughter appreciated the booster seat and fun smock and was skipping afterwards because she felt so pretty. The studio is very nice as well. I look forward to going in to pamper myself one day soon!

This salon and spa offers very quick sugaring hair removal services. Very impressed with last minute booking and Brazilian sugaring services by the asthetician which took 10 minutes! She did a great job, very efficient and professional.

I recently went for my first ever sugar wax done by the amazing Kimmy! She made me feel comfortable and was very professional! Way better experience than I had been anticipating and will definitely be making this a regular routine!
