Been with Scotia for about 9 years. Have been depositing the same cheques here for about 6 years, with no holds, without any issues. Today, it was an issue, as there has been "a change in management" so apparently they have to put holds on the cheques ive been depositing here for 6 years because of a change of management... Completely absurd & extremely unreasonable staff that seemed to just not understand anything. It's clear the tellers & management do not care about you & it shows. Obviously I'm not the only one who has had issues with them with the solid 2.2 star rating they have just at this branch either. Strongly recommend not going to this bank, ever. Just an overall terrible experience just depositing a cheque which is the most basic thing every bank does. EDIT: Went to another branch to deposit cheques the next week, cheques were deposited with no hold, no questions asked, like it always has been. Proving it wasn't changes within the bank itself, teller / manager at the commercial branch just decided to be unreasonable & rude & make my life hard for no good reason & gave a random excuse as they didn't know what they were doing & didn't care.

Worst service ever, I’m never going to this bank again. One of the teller named Hazel was so rude and the other lady sitting at the back desk with glasses tried to defend what the teller did. Went there for the first time to deposit the cheque and withdraw some money. I had 2 wallets as one was of my sister, as she works few blocks away from the bank and she told me to do the transaction. I know they have the customers safety policy, but that doesn’t mean snatching the othe debit card for the table and chopping it of without asking me. She couldn’t even wait or talk to me for 5-15 minuets, because they don’t have time according to that lady sitting at the back desk. It was 4 pm and there were hardly 4-5 people in the bank and 3 tellers. They don’t value their customers, my sister came in after 10 minutes and was so pissed because they didn’t even bother to block the card rather they choose to chop It off. It was really traumatizing experience as she looked at me like I was a thief or a criminal and treated me like that.

Just like the other reviewers me and my boyfriend were treated poorly, they put his check on hold because they immediately thought it was fraudulent, he had been depositing the same check for over 10+ years working from the same company and never had an issue. If they were smart they would look and know that he had been banking with Scotiabank all his life. We went here because it was conveniently along the way. They just directed us to call a number because they could care less about handling the issue at hand. They do not care to reason, they do not care about customer service or helping the customer nor do they value or respect you as a human being. They automatically assume you are some kind of criminal at this location.

This scotiabank staff is just for the show. They don’t even know what they are doing and why they get paid. I used their ABM inside the bank to deposit around 400$ that i withdrawal from my other bank. When i put the money in money section it showed your money has been retained. As a person who was new in Canada. I didn’t know what to do and how to handled the situation. So i asked the staff and explained what happened, all the staff person said i will file complaint on your behalf you will receive a email from Scotiabank on the updates. And till date. I have not received a single email from them. I tried calling and sending email to scotiabank customer service. But no, they don’t care about their customers anymore.

Pretty disappointed with my recent experience here. I've been coming here to get loonies for laundry for years. I'm a Tangerine customer and Scotiabank and tangerine are affiliated. They just told me they changed their policy to only be able to exchange cash for loonies for Scotiabank customers. This is ridiculous - one, because I'm with tangerine which means there is NO BRANCH. Two, I am literally exchanging cash for another form of cash, and you're a bank. I won't be becoming a customer here, ever.

Every time I try to use your bank machines it’s a nightmare. Today, they rejected my checks. Last time, it didn’t even allow for deposits, the time before the touch screen barely worked and the time before that it literally ate my card. Get your house in order. One of the last banks to get advanced machines and you blew it. You could have followed the blueprint of TD, CIBC, RBC and had awesome up to date machines. But no, you cheeped out, and now have worst machines in Canadian banks. Scotiacircus !

Banking at this branch offers a consistently awful experience. High staff turn-over, their small business advisor left and was never replaced, managers are frequently absent — so issues that require a small business advisor or a manager's approval cannot be resolved and you'll be asked repeatedly to come back another time.

By far the worst customer service I have ever received (specifically from management!), at any business. Zero attempts to accommodate or (often) even reply to customer inquiry, regard for customer loyalty (or financial well-being, in my opinion) is absolutely nonexistent. Cannot close my account fast enough.

I made a certified check and these people working here did not accept it, even when my bank confirmed the authenticity of the check. Eugene Martin said that according to the rules of our bank, we should use your money for at least 5 days, and then give you your money. This is absurd. Very unpleasant.

Do not bank at Scotiabank. The bank is internally dysfunctional and has terrible customer service. This branch in particular is in desperate need of a renovation, and their ATM closes at around 5pm, while the branch itself closes at 4pm and weekends, making it extremely inconvenient to visit.
