I booked an appointment through scotia bank call center and mentioned that the reason I wanted to talk with a financial advisor is about my concerns for my debit, credit, and my future banking type. The financial advisor seems nice but she was rushing the whole time despite me having an appointment booked. She even answered a phone call, which is ok with me because it could be an emergency. But the fact that she was rushing me and assumed that my concerns should be addressed at the front desk was the annoying and inconvenient part. I tried asking all my concerns, but got cut off when I was about to ask about my credit limit because she stood up to open the door for us. I went to the front desk feeling bad for wasting her time only find out that my concerns about the credit limit must be discussed with an advisor. I told the front desk staff that I just had an appointment with the advisor was told to go there about my concerns. The staff asked if I want another appointment and I just declined because my time was wasted not the advisor's. Some of the staffs are very nice and they listen well to your concerns even if it is not their role to do so. Others makes you feel like an inconvenience of their day. I hope that you listen well to your customer and do not assume everything because it affects how you handle them.

Avoid this branch! I had a simple task for one of the investment people at this branch to move cash from one RRSP account to another iTrade RRSP account. I had to visit the brach twice just to get things initiated then after 3 weeks the transfer still hadn't been completed and they wanted me to come down to the branch a third time to take care of this. Then the investment guy tells me he is doing me a favour and he really didn't have to do this for me....REALLY? Now I felt abandoned. I escalated to the branch manager at this point due to his comments. My next step is to move my two investment accounts and personal bank account to another banking institution. I was going to move another $120,000 to my Scotia iTrade account from another bank but not after this problem. This bank doesn't seem very customer oriented, or at least the guy I was working with. I want to deal with a bank where I feel the service will be better. It's too bad this ended this way.

I have been a very loyal Scotiabank customer for over 25 years. Over the years I have held several mortgages, loans, credit cards and bank accounts. The customer service I received here has been the absolute worst I have ever received, not only from Scotiabank, but from any banking institution! This is the first Google rating that I have ever completed, but feel so strongly about the negative experience I felt compelled to comment. I tried to address my concerns with the bank manager but received no response. Very very disappointing! If I could rate lower than one star, I would!

Went in to increase the limit on my daily e-transfer. After I used my debit card to provide access to my account, the teller asked how much I wanted the new limit to be. After I told her how much, she asked for the driver’s license, that I provided. After all of this, she told me that I had to go to my home branch for the increase. When I asked why, she said because they knew me better since there was risk involved in increasing the limit! (I don’t know why she asked for my ID if that was the reason for declining what I had asked for!)

This is the worst bank I've ever done business with. They lock the doors randomly it seems so you cannot access their machines outside of their work hours. That's what the machines are for so people can use them outside of business hours. When it comes to service, everytime I ask for help, the clerks need to consult with other people (even for simple tasks) Then, the manager said I should go somewhere else if I was not happy. I'm sure the bank owner would be stunned to hear that his/her manager was encouraging people to go elsewhere.

Came on Saturday October 15th, at 2:20pm. Wanted to open a bank account, the clerk (a girl) told me she can’t do it because they are understaffed and I would have to come back with an appointment. There was no one behind me on the line, absolutely no one, just another customer who was already with a clerk. I saw two clerks, there were probably other employees that I didn’t see. That clerk was just lazy and didn’t want to do her job. Went to another Scotia on Alta Vista Dr customer service was far better.

I’ve had good experiences with this Branch but recognize that it can be variable depending on circumstances. I chose to rate this branch highly rather than leave a negative one at my more local branch. So the positives were good hours and courteous interaction with the tellers. I go out of my way to come to this branch FWIW. Also note there is parking available about 5 spots, which I will use if I haven’t walked, haven’t gone to the Glebe parking garage and I’m in a hurry. It’s rarely full.

This is an awful, awful branch. Totally incompetent staff, poorly trained, don’t honour appointments, and none of the THREE managers in the past year has ever answered their phone or returned a call. What does Scotia pay you for? To add to this: the ATM's apparently can't read checks so they both reject them. The teller can't read a check, either, so he enters the wrong amount resulting in an hours-long complaint having to be made. PLEASE CLOSE THIS BRANCH.

This branch has incompetent staff who don't know their own systems and are quite rude. I went to collect a bank card for a new account but was told that it was not possible because I needed an appointment. This was despite me showing them an email confirmation that clearly said I could go at any time.

Extremely poor response to phone messages that I leave asking for a call back. No senior staff EVER answer their phones. Terrible lack of consideration from senior staff but terrific tellers. The incompetence clearly starts at the top. Been with Scotiabank many years and am now reconsidering.

they can't even honour the appointments. such inefficient and incapable staff - Haddar Alafifi ... that is the name of the incompetent staff who could not even attend a phone appointment. Its disgusting to see people taking salary for not working

Slow service, although personable. I apparently overpaid an account and was not notified. Only upon renegotiations of the account did they notify me of an overpayment that they owed me for 5 years!

Vedran provided excellent customer service. I was treated very well compared to other locations in Ottawa. Place has free parking and the lines are usually short.
