Enquired about purchasing a gold bracelet with a price tag of 1,200 advertised as 9ct gold in the shop. I wanted to know if I could get a refund if it was not 9ct gold as advertised and if it had been properly checked to have the statement 9ct gold on it. Was informed some woman goes and has a look at the gold / silver but does not test it with a machine acid test etc or have any qualifications she does it by sight only and reads the haulmark on the metal. To add to this I was told they will not refund the 1,200 if I purchased it and it turned out to be fake. A couple issues here; 1. Not giving a refund is illegal and immoral. 2. Advertising gold and silver at a set purity when you have no idea what it is, is misleading your customers to buy things by seeing value that may not exist. WARNING to all do not buy gold or silver at salvos you will be ripped of if they get the purity incorrect. If you have purchased gold or silver here under the assumption it’s real or as advertised you may want to get it checked. You would expect a charity to have a higher code of ethics.

I arrived just after 9.00 am and asked if they were accepting clothing donations and was told they were. As I had 45 as new or new long sleeved shirts, jumpers and polo shirts all pressed and on hangers in the back of my car asked if I could have help to bring them in. Was told that wasn't possible and to just put them in the outside bin. When I indicated that I wasn't happy with that, was directed to a rack to hang them on. The assistant then disappeared with not even a thank you or smile. I was so angry and disappointed with the surly unfriendly attitude that I drove to another Op Shop where my donations were received with pleasure by an extremely friendly and personable assistant. I was also offered assistance to bring them in from the car. Regardless whether the Salvos assistant was a volunteer or paid staff, they need to be trained in customer service. Because of this incident, I will not be donating to the Salvos. again.

I double checked the price of a jigsaw puzzle as it was priced at $15, and that was the RRP for a new one online. I was met with a rude attitude that id have to pay postage for online and that was the correct price. I have previously bought puzzles from other salvos stores for $5 and $7. Was dissappointed with the attitude I was met with and drove to red cross blackwood, and purchased a larger puzzle for $7 that was brand new. Will not return to blackwood salvos. Would also be good if the same chain of op shops priced their products at similar price points, it appears to be left to the discretion and opinion of individual stores.
