The menu on the wall promised so much. It was so enticing. The pictures paint an idea of a nice Asian meal. Pictures say a lot, but if you can't deliver, the promises are empty. We had dinner here. Quite disappointing really. Let's go through the dishes. Soy chicken rice dish. Chicken was overcooked and dry, the rice was stale and unappealing. Choy was passable. Choice of soy flavours wasn't as expected. Not a great effort. Hainan chicken rice. Again, the rice was stale, there was NO chicken flavouring in the rice. I got some lame cucumber. The chicken was pretty plain and not flavoursome. The ginger sauce was weird. Definitely not Hainan chicken rice as you would expect. Maybe it was leftovers from a few days earlier. The stir fried beef flat rice noodles dish was odd too. Celery but no onions. No bbq pork for added flavour. Just plain odd. Sure, these guys can speak Cantonese, but to me it seemed they couldn't cook it. At the end of the meal it was a big disappointment that they couldn't get some basic dishes together. I wouldn't want to come back. There must be better Asian shops around.

This is a plain kafé style sushi place, your average Asian food place. But the sushi is way above average. Nice variety, well made, presentation is good, service is great - and it sure is value for money. Actually, I'd call it cheap. If good food is more important than interior, this is a place for you. The fish was fresh, and the place is nice and clean. It lacks the finesse of a really great sushi place, but thats not what this place is about. You won't take someone to a romantic dinner here, but you will stop by any day for lunch or dinner - eat in or take away. I'd definitely eat here again, and again, and again... :-)

Sorry, but this was one of the worst nori rolls my Japanese wife and I have ever had. The rice was way too watery and lacked any flavour. It's as though they forgot to put the vinegar in. Most of the rolls also had only some ingredients half way through the roll, which shows poor preparation and rolling technique. If they're hand rolled it is very sloppy work, and if they use a machine I suggest they get it checked. I hope their cooked meals are as good as some of the comments as I wouldn't ever buy their Sushi again.

Great prices, lovely staff, fast service, great food. We had spring rolls, BBQ pork noodle soup and duck noodle soup. Amazing and complex broth, really well cooked noodles with good texture and very generous with the amount of meat. Overall, really happy and can't wait to go back! Went back on the weekend and ordered the same dishes but with gyoza... This time the duck was super dry, tough and overcooked. I couldn't eat it. The broth and noodles were still amazing though. The gyoza were good, not amazing.

It is the worst food ever. I ordered salmon fry rice ,it was indelibly salty. Salmon was too old and rice was very hard. Staff gave an excuse that it s long grain rice so it was hard. I ve been cooking long grain rice for 40 years so I know how to cook rice ,ok? They used the old rice to serve customer. I asked for my money back but they refused to return. My husband ordered roast pork noodle. Roast pork is old until it became dry and changed in color. Worst experience ever. Never go there again .

This is my adult child's favourite place to get laksa in Hobart, so I had to try when I came to visit them. The chicken laksa isn't as great as my usual place but it was very nice and I enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and happy to package up my leftovers to take with me. The prices were great too!

Very tasty and fairly good value. Had Cantonese beef noodle had aniseed flavour tasty but not overpowering. Also family had pork noodle soup which was like shio ramen very mellow and tasty. Very happy overall place could do with selling beer on tap for an authentic experience only criticism. Edit: changed to 5 stars had a pork sizchuan noodle dish very nice and peppery. Always very tasty prompt, well priced and friendly staff, thank you.

You will get what you pay for, which means you wouldn't regret in terms of the amount of money you pay as it's reasonable price. However, it wouldn't be impressive or fantastic. It is nice quick-easy-low price meal, no more than that. You can imagine taste perhaps, as it's just like the one you could possibly get it from the food court.

Best sushi place in town! Might not look like a high-end restaurant but their sushi is of superior quality and made to order with fresh produce. Really great value for money, would highly recommend it! I've been coming here for many years and will happily keep coming back again and again!

This in my humble opinion is the best Sushi restaurant in Hobart. Food is fresh and anything can be made to order. They do some amazing hot dishes - my favs are crispy noodles with chicken, wonton soup and also the fried rice. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend

  • InDedede

In my opinion, Sakura has the best affordable sushi in town. Their rice-to-filling ratio is top-notch (especially their tuna and avocado, it has never disappointed). I definitely recommend you have a bite to eat from there!

She salmon sushi is very good. A bit disappointed that I was charged 15c for wasabi and 15c for soy sauce. Also they don’t have discounts for specials for late services like other sushi places The hoiken noodles had a burnt charcoal taste and there were too much cabbage

  • Lyuben Kraev

One of the best priced, delicious Japanese spots in the Elizabeth Mall area - the staff prepares meals authentically and they're friendly. If you have the option, sit down for your meal as take-out portions tend to be smaller than what you'd get in the store.

  • Tamara Canento Sánchez

This place is one of the worst Asian food I've never seen. The service was unfriendly, they didn't take our order properly (we requested sushi and received some kind of ?soup). And the noodles were still raw as the vegetables. The pepper almost talked.

  • Levi Dance

I love Sakura. Delicious and affordable food that is cooked fresh (at least it tastes and smells like it). Always up for a meal there. Sometimes it feels like some dishes taste really similar, but it's a taste I really enjoy, so no complaints from me

  • Nikolas Skoufis

Lovely place. Very cosy inside. Service was pretty good, and the food was lovely. I had a chicken dish in broth with noodles. The chicken wasn't overcooked and the broth was tasty without being too salty and over the top. Cheap, good, tasty food.

  • Louise Deacon

The most amazing sushi place you will ever visit. I go here all the time, always the freshest and most high quality fish used in their sushi. staff is so very welcoming and lovely. Best spot in Hobart for sushi. No other place could ever compare

  • Tormey Reimer

I've been coming here for 10+ years. Delicious, fast, great portion sizes, and they'll happily customise any dish for you. It's probably not the most authentic place, but great for quick Asian comfort food. And they have Hello Panda!

I wasn't a sushi person but not anymore, the only thing I don't like is that the sushi platters are not always consistent, since they give you sometimes more and sometimes less, no idea why.

  • Sharon Weeding

I loved the freshness of the food, cooking area and display area. The food was great and not expensive. I would have loved more comfortable seating but it's not a place for 'long' lunches!

  • basil fox

Probably my favourite sushi place simply due to the variety, I'm keen to try the other stuff on the menu as it looks good. My least favourite thing about it is the doorway flaps.

  • Michaela Halton

Very friendly staff, the best sushi in Hobart!!!!! I love this place. Very reasonable prices and fresh sushi and sashimi. The cooked menu is good too. I'm a regular customer.

Not too many places open in the city at night. Was surprised by the fresh and tasty food. Stacks of people coming in so it's obviously is a fave of many.

  • Jess

Nice concept that they chop off the sushi into small pieces and play Asian songs. However, the sushi were too much rice and bland so not to my liking.

  • J R Murrell

Another great go to restaurant, staff great, food excellent, usually enough tables and they thank you when you leave. That is respectful.

  • Rachel Appleton

Been in twice this week because it is freshly hand made sushi to order and delicious! Some of the best sushi I’ve had in a long time.

  • Adelaide Khayad

All the stir fries were oily, my char kway teow were salty. Food was average, all up costed $75 for 4 meals and 2 drinks. Not worth.
