When a Japanese restaurant served you your miso soup as the first dish with a Chinese soup spoon and before other cold dishes, I think one should lower their expectation of the service and food. To be honest, the Japanese food with a western and Chinese flare it’s mediocre but with some surprises. But I really couldn’t get around to their the servicing order. Hot and cold dishes all mixed up, seemed like they come from different part of the kitchen and don’t have a cohesive effort. To make it worse, they suddenly stopped serving for 20 min and when we asked 2 separate staffs to follow up on the orders, none of them come back to us on what have happened. Not until we make a complaint and they explained their docket printer was broken down and properly missed our order. By that time, it was already 8:10, good 40 min since our last dish was served. And none of them offered any solution or estimate time for the missing dishes to come. We have already lost our appetite and becoming restless. So we have to called it a night and have half of a half decent meal. The manager did apologised when I let her know what have happened and try to make amend but it was just too late.
Sake in Double Bay maintains the culinary consistency that the brand is known for, delivering a reliable dining experience. While the food remains on par with expectations, the service, unfortunately, doesn't quite match the attentive standards set by their Rocks location. Despite this minor hiccup, the menu continues to impress with its unwavering quality. The ambiance and presentation are consistent with the Sake brand's elegant aesthetic. While the service might benefit from a touch more attention, Sake in Double Bay remains a go-to for those seeking a dependable and satisfying Japanese dining experience.

Very mediocre meal. We ordered a number of entrees and they all came at different times (even though several of us ordered an entree to start and an entree for main and made the staff award of this when we ordered). Service was average, one of us did have a fly in the wine and they replaced the glass. They seemed disorganised and food was delivered in an haphazard way although there were very few people in the restaurant. Nothing like Sake at the Rocks.

Absolutely love the restaurant. The food, atmosphere and the service were perfect. The term in between the food serving was just enough to have chat with the people I was with. Love to go back ❤️

Underwhelmed. food was very average for the price. Tables are very tight to eachother. We got a table that wobbles aggressively. Thankfully we didnt lose our food to it. My $27 cocktail had no alcohol in it too. Wouldn’t try again. Pavlova was really nice and popcorn prawn dish but not worth coming back for.

Went and tried the set menu for Saturday lunch. Best dishes were the chilli prawn popcorn, nori crisps, beef tataki. The Berkshire pork cutlet was disappointing as it was dry and tough. Service and ambience was decent. Overall, we may have been better off ordering a la carte.
