"I really enjoy having a Safeway in my neighborhood"
"This store had come a long way"
"Not a fan! Most items are overpriced and it's just not worth my time"
Love this store. Everyone is nice who works there. Been shopping there for 15yrs now. Good people there. Laura McDonald is always very nice, talks to customers, treats everyone like family in my opinion. Always helpful, goes out of her way to make sure the customer is satisfied. Love the deli here, I go almost daily & get the wedges & chicken. Always hot, fresh, & delicious! All the employees there are always nice, I can't recall any bad experience with this company. Always positive & smiling. Definitely a family friendly store for everyone. I will always shop at Safeway & they keep the same employees for years as well. That says a lot for a smaller grocery store. The steaks & hamburger I've bought lately we've been pretty impressed with. The price for the steaks are decent as well. Every time I get a t-bone it's around $6, cheaper than I've seen anywhere else. In fact, it's now the only place I buy meat from. Kroger's & Walmart's meat prices are fixed. I can never find a decent deal anywhere else.
This place is terrible! The prices are ridiculously high, and they really take advantage of us being in a lower income neighborhood. The store is gross, the meat is gray and rotting, the shelves are hella dusty and product is out of date, there are always shady characters in the parking lot, and the cashiers half the time are on their phones or have headphones on. I live super close to the store but I would rather drive ANYWHERE than buy anything from this store. The last time I was there they charged me $4.50 for some off brand cooking oil. I have not and will never be back, and it's a damn shame they cant take care of the people in their neighborhood rather than exploit them.
I really enjoy having a Safeway in my neighborhood. Some of the prices are a bit high but they really have the best deals on fresh meat! Very cheap and good quality of meat! Also, I love the fact that they carry a lot of unique items that you can hardly ever find anywhere else! It's like taking a step back in time as far as that goes because they carry certain items I haven't seen since I was a kid. The staff is also great and it's usually the same faces you see working. Very homey feel!
This store had come a long way. Very clean and smells great!. I use the western union quite frequently. Always a friendly and hometown feeling from the crew. They seem to want to get to know you and quick to help if you have any questions. Great selections of food stuffs and great neighborhood store to run to when you find that you don't have that certain ingredient to complete your dinner. Still a little pricey but the convenience outweighs the long drive to Walmart lol
Not a fan! Most items are overpriced and it's just not worth my time. I used to love going to this store when it was Marsh because it at least had some decent produce items and delivery items and they always had decent deals on meat. Since it has been Safeway I just can't find a reason to stop in there, it's sad too because the employees are caring and genuine but I can't justify spending more money for items just based on that.
Store is poorly maintained and overpriced. There are often people standing outside for seemingly no reason other than to shake hands with other people and while this sounds very nice, they first act like they are best friends, then quickly act like they dont know each other at all... Its just weird. The parking lot is in terrible condition and the store smells stale. Worse grocery store experience ever.
The best prices for your meats. Very friendly employees. All the shelves ate always pulled forward and clean. No need for me to go any where else to shop. I don't ever have to fight a crowd. Everyone is always wearing there protective gear and I see them always cleaning and wiping there checkout stations. Also has a wipe stand for the disenfecting of your grocery carts. A+ for SAFEWAY, THANK YOU !!!!
I am highly upset that Safeway on Raymond and Shelby doesn't Cash payroll checks anymore. I stopped at the store on Monday September 11th and the manager stated he will no longer cash payroll checks starting this week, okay Sunday started the week, SO YOU WOKE UP MONDAY AND DECIDED NOT TO CASH PAYROLL CHECKS ANYMORE so sad, and I've been cashing checks at this location close to 30 years
I’m a regular in this store for my weekly amount of Crystal Geyser water. Also, whenever I need something I’ve unexpectedly ran out of, Shelby is my go to store. The store is always clean, and there’s always a relaxed feeling! Typically my cashier is Laura, and she’s always super friendly. Anyone I’ve encountered at the Shelby street location is always nice and I enjoy their smiles!
Personally, I have been around Safeway my entire life. Sure prices are higher than some others, but to me it’s worth it for the convenience of not having to go to a major retailer for a few times. Jamie has always went above and beyond getting with vendors and managers to get in what I want to buy. You can’t get much better service than that. Thank you for all that you guys do!
Their meat is always outdated/expired and stinks. That includes their pre-packaged meats. It's even been on the news about the meats they sell but they continue doing so just to get money. They tell us shoppers we should check expiration dates but that's their job to do. We shoppers should be able to trust they're butcher is not putting meat out just to get rid of it.
People talking about how bad the store was compared to Marsh.. Milk at the time at Marsh was over 3$ a gallon!! So if you don't mind those kind of prices,, call me I'll sell it to you at that price. I thought the store was clean and staff was friendly.. I found the same goods there that I would anywhere else.At a better price. Beechgrove get over yourselfs!!
Prices were completely upcharged because of the neighborhood that it's in. They're taking advantage of people on food stamps and charging two and three dollars more for an item that you can buy at Kroger for much less. It's disgusting price gouging and taking advantage of the people that are poor in this neighborhood. You guys should be ashamed of yourself.
This place has went through a recent renovation. They did a decent job of cleaning the place up. The cash registers were even updated which makes check out quicker. It still has an older grocery store feel to it and the selections are limited compared to big box stores. There can also be some sketchy individuals shopping/ hanging out in the area.
I love this store. The cashiers and office associates, are always friendly and helpful. When I walk in it's like seeing family. The prices may be a little higher then say WALMART. But you can't put a price on quality, At SAFEWAY, the shelves are full, the fruit is fresh, I only buy my meats at Safeway, quality counts. Again, I love this store.
Danielle is a really sweet girl. Can tell she's new. She told me this was her first job at 17. She's doing better than half the kids her age. So show her some patience if she stumbles a bit. We were all new to the workforce at some point. I have been coming to this place since I was born and it's always been there when I needed something.
I like this grocery store, as it is spacious and well-organized. But, it is surprisingly pricey, and I think having a difficult time competing with other stores for this reason. I can't justify paying $5 for cumin, non-organic, nonetheless. Just a small example. Wic and EBT are accepted here, which is convenient. Not bad, overall.
It seems like the place is stocked quite well so they have that going for them, but the prices are unreasonably high considering an Aldi and Kroger are within a couple miles. Also the location is very dirty and has been obviously neglected by the company as the building is in major need of renovations and new POS equipment.
This location has a woman named Laura that works the front end and she does a super job every time we go in there she’s patient with me because I have oxygen problems and she always is there to help never once have I seen her be short or sharp with a customer that wasn’t warranted so I had a girl keep up the good work
Worst place to get food. Super high prices today and always, and in 2003 when I first visited and seen a generic bottle of ketchup for $2.50. And then I walked right out.And then they have the nerve (post COVID) to only start ppl out at $9 an hour. I should have known better to pay a visit 19 years later.
I love their deli. But only when Randy is working everything is usually right on point with him. I stood there and watched him temp check every piece of chicken he brought out the vat. And the potato wedges are FIRE!! The other girls either burn it or leave it in the case all's day long until it's rubber
This store looks like the store that corporate forgot. It is in need of updates for sure. They no longer have a produce section. The staff is friendly and helpful, but as a grocery store, they are looking more and more like an outdated version of the family dollar and dollar general across the street.
Limited produce section and prices are much higher than somewhere like Kroger or Wal-Mart. However, their meat is much better than Kroger/Wal-Mart and better priced too. Staff is always nice and it's always clean. There will generally be people outside asking for money when you walk in or out.
I love this grocery store and it's not a bad walk from my home in Fountain Square. I recommend using the bathroom before you go considering their bathrooms are in a weird location in the back of the store. But it has that nice old neighborhood small town look and feel we're going for.
Very rude office girl. She has a bad attitude and stays on her cellphone. My husband came in to get lottery tickets today and she has messed them up several times even after he told her exactly what he gets. She gets upset because she messes up. She needs customer service training .
The selection and prices offered at this store leave a lot to be desired; I think you would be hard pressed to do your actual grocery shopping here HOWEVER, for convenience runs for things like water, ice, etc. it is perfect. Always easy + quick and Laura is helpful and friendly!
Nice store way more cleaner than the other say ways ive been too and it didn't have that smell like most have. The meat selection was very slim pickens and their produce selection is VERY small. Their lunch meat section was completely empty. Its still a nice clean store.
Always check the freshness date because I bought a bag of dollar chips that was 4 months expired. They let me exchanged them, but I realized the whole shelf was expired. I let the cashier know the situation, but she was more concerned about her necklace than my complaint
U can't get good service from that place anymore live down the street from 30+ years the kids that work there have nothing better to do but be on the phone went to get lottery tickets and she walked away from us never did get them I will be in the office tomorrow
It has been years since I've been inside of this store. I lived right next door to it for years and years and always loved the store back then but now it seems A lot smaller and has a lot less stuff in it. I also think that the prices were extremely higher
Cashiers are great. Especially Karen. The others are very polite also. Vicki works her butt off there. Ive been going there for about 42 years It a great store. I would recommend it to everyone. Ladies and gentlemen you're doing a great job keep it up.
Watch your prices they have price's saying 2lb on bacon but pack says pound and a half well just pay attention as your shoping other then the price gouging the employees was good but im basing my rating on the pricing and miss leading on the pound's
So I needed a couple of things and thought I would quickly pick them up. Rude cashier worker was not worth the time I thought I would be saving. I left the products with him and learned my lesson. No Safeway, until they learn to do it the Rightway!
They do have good prices on their hamburger and some things chicken but the rest of everything is pretty high but yes it's a good price to go just to buy the meat but otherwise it's very expensive but the employees is so friendly and very nice
Such a great grocery store. I have been coming here since I was younger and I still frequent often. One employee in particular Jamie goes above and beyond for all the customers. She’s so positive and hardworking! The atmosphere is great and
I dont understand these great reviews honeatly... Prices a little high Its really rediculous... The off brand here costs as much if not more then the name brand at other stores.. Fresh meat??? Lmao i think not ive gotten meat from here
Extremely disgusting. Over priced and ALL of the vegetables are old and wilted.Reminds me of a place that takes Kroger, Meyers and fred Meyer left overs from the trash to sale... Do not go there unless you plan to get bum rushed by junkies
On 07/09/2023, my family and stopped in at Safeway Grocery Store to pick up some Faygo's soda to bring back to Dallas, Texas with us. We got there and we were helped by Laura and Le. These two ladies assisted with making sure we purchased
This place gets 12 thumbs down low quality food at high prices is ridiculous. I get an odd feeling that the expiration on some of the meats have been changed i found lunch meat that said the exp date hadnt passed but it had a nasty green
I don't mind helping local stores and I've shopped here several times, but was shocked at the price for three items this morning bacon "generic" ,Sausage patties "generic", and a 12 pack of Pepsi. If I would have went to Kroger and
Imagine a gas station's grocery selection. Now make that slightly bigger. Lots of Empty shelves. Not much more than frozen food and prepackaged stuff. There's very few fresh fruit and veggies. Meat selection is a little better.
Love this store. It always has things you can't find anywhere else. Prices are reasonable. Great produce. The watermelon is always so good. Customer service is great! Jamie is always so helpful and goes out of her way to help.
The customer service woman Laura McDonald is always friendly and helps me find everything I need and helps me find what I am looking for she is a good definition of good customer service thanks for all your help laura
Been going there for 16 years at least. Well my last trip I bought some diet Orange faygo. It's not very often you see faygo anywhere and on top of that orange figure especially diet awesome. Update It's still there.
This chicken was ordered for our family reunion and it was overcooked and salty. It tasted as though the meat was fried in old grease! Not happy at all! It was not like what we tasted weeks before. Very disappointed.
All I wanted were KYs and hog mugs but they cost four arms and a leg who would have ever thought that come on farmers we used to get them for free because you didn't like them made them out of a delicacy what the
The store has improved so much over the past several years. Thanks for supplying better produce! I now stop in about once a week! The prices are still a bit high so I haven't made it my main shopping store, yet.
This Safeway is so quiet. There was hardly anybody there besides the employees! They had good quality and affordable prices, as well as a deli. I got a can of soda for ¢35! And 3 candles for $3. I recommend it.
The staff at the deli was great, but at the checkout they were not very friendly. I wasn't greeted, but was thanked when handed my receipt. Service could be improved on making customers feel welcome and valued
This is the best of all places to shop and they have one employee who has a great personality and will be as helpful as she can be and her name is Jamie. She is the best ever and she is always nice and polite.
Every time I come into the store and Laura is there she makes me feel welcomed!! I grew up coming to this this Safeway with my Dad and still come here til this day! Thanks Laura for making me feel welcomed!!
Good prices on their meat. Wouldn't shop there for anything else though. They are over priced on some of their items. They say they are remodeling the store but it's been looking the same for months.
Not nation-wide Safeway store if that's what you thought from map search. Has most grocery items but limited selection. Fruit sold in portion/pre-cut options and with that pricing. Staff was nice.
Great meat selection and pricing. The store is quite nice for being a locally owned business. I always recommend people come here for a good selection of Dairy, Produce, Meats, and Deli items.
They have Best damn chicken and potatoes wedges on this side of town for those looking for some good lunch. The store is always clean as a whistle and the staff is very friendly …
All of the produce i have purchased has been excellent! It is always neatly stocked and tastes delicious! My whole family always enjoys the corn the most! Jamie always does a wonderful job!
Just went & got tenders & wedges for lunch & let me tell you made fresh & hot. Very good Jamie Helton was the cook. She was super friendly. I’ll definitely be going back. Highly recommend
No people at all around noon and some shelves were empty. I went to look at the fries chicken not one person asked to help even tho they were standing in front of me chatting it up...smh
Clean store and the service is very good. And I bought their chicken breast and legs delicious and not expensive at all especially if you and your spouse is on a fixed income. Thank you.
The staff is ok. The food prices are about average. It's a neighborhood store so no direct competition. It's convenient and you pay extra for that. Glad it's available for quick items.
Coming from Greenwood I make the drive because I like this store. The staff is great especially a girl named Jamie and she helped assist me getting my groceries and where things were.
It's not the newest store but they do a pretty good job. Easy in and out, the staff is friendly. A little more expensive than Walmart, but much closer for folks without a car.
Convienant, good variety, friendly staff, clean, weekly deals. Great fresh meat counter. Great hot food counter. Other prices are on par or somewhat higher than other stores.
That store has gone down the drain. They won't let you use the bathroom and their prices are ridiculous and they have a horrible selection of the things they actually do have
Jamie Helton was pleasant and knowledgeable in what I needed to purchase . I was very please with the store and the prices. Thank You Jamie for being Polite and Friendly
I am always satisfied with the selections and customer service! There is one employee that always goes above and beyond to help me find items. A miss Jamie Helton
No public bathrooms for paying customers and the staff at the deli area is rude and just ignores the customers. I will never spend a penny in that store.
Very clean, well stocked, friendly staff. The atmosphere here feels like it did in the early 2000s. Such great nostalgia while grocery shopping.
I was in the store on Shelby Street, doing some shopping and I needed help with produce and Jamie helped me out. She is very nice and friendly.
I've been going to Safeway with my grandma since I was little, I've always loved seeing Jamie and talking with her, she's an amazing employee!
Employee are very polite. Been going there for quick shopping for 3 years. They're expanding it soon. Looks a mess now but see the potential
This place has moved things around and really did a good makeover. And now I started shopping here again. Really a good place to go to.
just around the corner... krogers was out of sugar cream pies but not safeway!! ty very much.. i bought 2 that day n they were yummy!!
Great service. In and out, Always have what I need. Chicken is amazing and so is the staff. Jamie went above and beyond to help me.
Laura help me today at checkout, she was nice and pleasant and we chatted about our day, thanks for the excellent service Laura!
Such an easy store to get the necessities at. Laura is always so patient! She's very fun to chat with while checking out
I will stop here if I need to just grab a couple of things. Prices can be a little high. Staff is always nice.
Every visit Daphne is working she always makes sure we found everything and seems to be a really good worker.
Prices are a little higher on some things, but it's the only store in neighborhood so that's to be expected
The cashier lady was very nice this area needs a grocery store but the prices are high for the area.
For grocery stores Go Local good products air prices no lines no discount cards love it
Didn't do any shopping but this store isn't very busy, food prices are a little steep.
Best price on meat and eggs anywhere, and they have 2 liters of RC for 99 cents.
They need to just closed this place down. There's nothing good here.. …
1975 inside Quite expensive, always is in low income neighborhoods....
We love the location but prices are mostly higher than anywhere else.
Great place Nice workees Same workers last 3 to 4 years Over priced
It's very old store. I don't shop there. The prices are not bad
Small selection in produce and does not accept discovery cards.
Cashier opened register to get me out quickly. Very greatful
Store is very outdated and has a limited variety of things.
Need more options but great service and very convenient
Not too busy, meat was decent and cheaper then Kroger
Clean, well stocked. Great meat counter and deli.
So much improved from what it used to be
Very respectful and great service
Very nice store (in 'the hood').
Good store, nice people.
