Edit: Spoke to the practice manager & was assured this is not standard practice, with a commitment to ensure staff know not to withhold ashes for unpaid bills in future. That said, they do have a practice of delay sending pets for cremation when bills are outstanding. I appreciated the apology & explanation, though they felt like damage control due to this review. I reiterate my advice for owners to know their rights. Warning - will refuse to return pet's ashes until total bill is paid! Unethical, illegal conduct. My dog was rushed to SASH with bloat three weeks ago, and passed away three days later. The bill for the surgery and three days of intensive care came to $27,000 (insane), $8k of which had to be paid immediately to enable the surgery or face on the spot euthanasia, and an additional $13k of which was paid a few days later. This left $4,000 outstanding, less than 15% of the total bill. At my dog's euthanasia appointment, I was given the chance to take him home or organise cremation with Animal Welfare League. I opted for the second option and organised/paid for cremation services directly with AWL. Last weekend, two weeks after my dog's passing, I receive a call from SASH staff that my dog's ashes/footprint/fur clipping have been returned to them, but that they couldn't give him to me until I'd paid the remainder of my bill. I called back to confirm, and was given very firm advice that I could not attend the surgery to collect the ashes - their policy was to hold onto ashes when clients have outstanding accounts, and that my dog's package would be kept "very safe" until the bill was paid. This didn't seem ethical or legal at all, so I spoke to a lawyer and was informed that, indeed, SASH had no legal right to do this; besides the extremely unethical practice of holding a dead pet's ashes ransom to receive funds, the cremation service was paid for separately direct to AWL and had nothing to do with SASH. The ashes package was returned to them out of convenience, and they used their possession to try to force bill payment. My lawyer informed me to ask for documentation that shows this practice is legal, or threaten further legal action. Accordingly, today I called SASH to ask about my boy's ashes, and their stance was reiterated. I was told that animal remains aren't usually released in the first place to AWL until the bill is paid in full, and ashes aren't provided if fees are outstanding. I informed them of my conversation with my lawyer and asked for evidence of policies, in line with legislation, that support this stance. I was told to put my concerns in writing and they'd be forwarded to the operations manager, which I did. Unsurprisingly, I received a call a few hours later from a senior staff member, informing me that it'd been a "huge mix up" and "of course" I was able to collect my dog's ashes. The manager asked who'd given me this "incorrect" information so they could set the staff straight, with the implication that it was done in error, and tried to pass it off as a mix up with Sydney staff and Adelaide staff. It wasn't, though, that's the thing; I spoke to four different staff members at SASH Adelaide, ALL of whom reiterated this to me and were clear on SASH's policy. The manager said she'd speak to her staff about it, but it felt a lot like damage control. It's ridiculous that it was only upon threatening legal action and the media that I am now able to collect my dog's ashes and move forward with my healing. The trauma and pain caused by this horrible, unethical, ILLEGAL policy has made my healing that much worse. I finally get to collect my boy tomorrow, yet am miles behind where I should have been because of this greed. All I can say is, know your rights! Be aware of what's legal and what's not, and don't be taken for a ride while going through such trauma just because people are greedy. The sad thing is that the veterinary care provided by SASH was fantastic, yet I wouldn't recommend them to anyone if they can avoid it The trauma caused by SASH'S greed isn't worth it.

Edit, reply to the response from SASH below. They opted for expensive MRI's, even though in their own words "a spinal injury was extremely unlikely". There were several blood and serum tests which are far less expensive which could have been performed first, these would have found the issue. For the first 3 days they kept my dog and conducted little more than a blood test. Every morning he was supposed to have an MRI but it constantly got pushed back. After 3 days he just came home without an MRI because they couldn't fit him in. I understand that there can be emergencies etc but those 3 days cost me nearly $4,000. He wasn't in pain, his situation wasn't critical, he would have been much better off at home and so would my bank account. After $10,000 the vets at SASH still couldn't figure out the issue. A few days of googling and I figured out what the issue was, i consulted with another vet, came up with a treatment plan had him healthy again after just 1 visit and a course of antibiotics. Those tests should be performed first according to the proper diagnostic procedure, as outlined in the MSD veterinary manual. The reception and vet nurse staff were very helpful. Edit: the claim that an MRI was only discussed as to my request is absolutely ridiculous and a blatant lie. I spoke to another neuro specialist out of house and his advice was to do an immediate spinal tap, which was exactly what I requested from SASH. Upon requesting this at SASH, the vet proceeded to call into question the professionalism and credentials of the other neuro specialist. I was then told that to do a lumbar puncture test they would have to first perform an MRI. This was not my choice, this was what the vet at SASH told me and persuaded me to do. I'm not a vet so I listened to him, regretfully. I was never questioning a spinal injury, I knew that he had not had any such accidents. The vet also sent blood tests to the US for an extremely rare condition that is rarely seen in Australia and my dog only had 1 symptom of, which was lethargy. This is despite ruling out megasophogous with an x ray, which is a hall mark of the disease. I will never take any animal I own to SASH.

Deceitful, untrustworthy, money hungry business. Rang asked them specifically if they have a vet who can deal with a blue tongue lizard. I was told yes. The reptile vet is in the morning. All vets can help with the reptile. Explained what the issue is with him, I double and triple checked they have someone to help with my reptile. I explained I know not all vets can and I understand this. I made a point of saying I don't want to take him to someone who cannot help and waste my money. The told me they have a reptile vet and recommended the omphamalegist might have to see him too. I went to the clinic was checked in. Waited ages that's OK but noone checked him as we arrived. Finally went to see a nurse. Was told again reptile vet is in tomorrow. Was told it's best to keep him overnight. I agreed only for him to get the right treatment. The next day I rang was told again reptile vet is coming to see him. Then recieved a phone call stating I need to take him to a reptile vet as they don't have one at the clinic. I went in to pick him up. I spoke to practice manager Tracey who stated her staff wouldn't say they have a reptile vet and it was a call centre. The price quoted was different to what I paid as consult fee. Will not recommend to anyone. Nearly $800 for nothing. Took him to a reptile vet and recieved treatment. All on the mend for only $185 such a massive difference. SASH are money hungry and don't care about the pets or animals they treat. Lie just to get your money

We cannot thank the entire team at SASH Adelaide enough. They helped us every step of the way in what was a very challenging, confusing and scary time for us and our dog. Dr Dillon was exceptional in his explanation of what was required and alleviated any fears and anxieties through his thorough explanation of our dogs injury. Brianna on the front desk was accomodating and nurturing when I first checked in as I was visibly distressed. Dr Dannie along with Dr Dillon was empathetic to how we were feeling. Our dog is now thankfully on the mend and it is due to the care and treatment that our pet received from SASH. From the little touches like text messages from the nurses, phone call updates regularly to the discharge process, nothing was too hard and we thank SASH Adelaide a million times over! Some of the things we appreciated: - Constant communication pre and post op. - Explanation of the surgery procedure and realistic expectations - Care for our dog whilst in hospital stay commencing physio and massage - Accomodating to our dog's dietary needs by giving her favourite food (chicken) - Caring reception staff and transparent and open nurses - Ability to call and check in any hour of the day or night - Modern facility that has both the pet and owner in mind We cannot fault the service we received. THANK YOU SASH ADELAIDE!

I had to rush Douglas my 1yo English staffy to SASH last Saturday nite as he was struggling to breathe..and they were able to get him straight in to his own room for assessment. I can't remember the triage nurses name or the female vets names but both were very professional ..I was initially shocked when told the costs involved for anetheisatising and X-rays etc and I was looking at $5000 minimum...but to be honest if I had not taken him there he wouldn't have survived the night..When the bone he'd swallowed was removed he stopped breathing around midnight Saturday night...and as was my phone was on silent they couldn't contact me for permission to incubate him to keep him breathing..Thankfully they made the right decision and saved him and I was lucky enough to be able to take him home Sunday night and he's happy and looks like he will make a full recovery. I'm so thankful to everyone at SASH ..I can't remember the name of the vet who sounded like he was mainly responsible who rang me twice on Sunday...but can you please let him know Douglas is going really well now and I don't think I thanked him Sash definitely have the equipment and staff and facilities if your pet is in serious trouble it is definitely the place to go And he must have had a really nice deodorising bath too Thankyou

Everything about SASH has been amazing. All the staff from admin to their neurologist is exceptional. The team is extremely helpful, polite, caring and go above and beyond. They really care about their patients and also the owners. I had spent a couple of weeks going back and forth with SASH emergency and my vet, and also speaking to Dr. Dillon, the amazing Neurologist, who was finally able to find the reason behind my babies pain. Dr. Dillon is definitely an asset to the team at SASH and went above and beyond with finding the cause of the pain, being extremely flexible with booking times and also making calls and answering emails on days off which I was extremely greatful for. The team at SASH are extremely caring and supportive with discussing concerns, potential costs involved and possible outcomes of the options offered. Max's latest visit I met their Physiotherapist Dr. Johanna for an ongoing treatment plan for Max. Also a great asset to SASH, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Cannot recommend SASH enough. If only they did regular vet consults. The team are all outstanding. Thank you for looking after my boy and helping me with his diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

10 out of 5stars ! 20 out of 5 stars From the moment we panickily rang SASH Kent Town on a Sunday Eve after our boy was hit by an SUV, everyone there was utterly marvelous. They took immediate action, kept him over night and patched Bobby up for his recovery. Probably back and forth a dozen times over couple months for splint changes, check ups and every single appointment was met with such engaging staff, particularly those on the front desk who were incredible to deal with, not least when helping with gap payments and easing the cost pressure. Special thanks to Dr Penny, who saw Bob right through the process, gave us fantastic advice and care and always on hand when needed. Same goes for reception staff who were always available and so lovely over the phone with any concerns we had. As you see from pix below, Bobs is back to his flying best. Eating clothes and taking us for a walk. We can't thank SASH Kent Town enough

Highly recommend SASH. Called up to ask for advice for our cat who has previously experienced severe urinary blockages. The woman on the phone was knowledgable, kind and did not pressure us to come in. We were seen within minutes of entering the triage. Our triage nurse was also very kind and thorough, putting our cats care and comfort first. We were advised to go for a vet consult but we were not pressured into this at all. Dr Erin was thorough, honest and caring, suggesting a care plan that worked for our cat. The staff on reception following our appointment were also incredible and we appreciated that they checked in with us to see if we were coping before we left. After having negative experiences at another emergency vet, SASH was on a whole other tier and showed us what a positive after hours vet service could be like. We will be recommending this vet to everyone. Thank you for all your help SASH staff.

do not take ur loved one here. they treat us like idiots. They know my little one is dying. But still doing useless treatment on her. Which makes her die in there instead of die at home in my arms. After my dog died I did lots research which shows she should have something bad and urgent disease happened. And she is dying when I took her in. All the symptoms is telling she is going to gone soon. They told me they are very professional they made me trust them to hand over her. But in fact they couldn’t even tell she is dying instead they think it’s only an easy treat infection. Trust me. Any simple disease you can fix at you regular vets place. And if it’s something big. Even if they open 24 hours they couldn’t make things better. If it’s not food poisoning don’t be that rush to take ur loved one to this stupid place. You will regret to make such a stupid choice of here!

We cannot thank Dr Peter enough for his help in finally making life for our cat Anakin worthwhile. Anakin is a 8 year old cat who has for all of his life suffered from what we now know are allergies. We have been through vets, medications, food trials, litter trials, wiping him and so much more. Poor Anakin at times had skin that was red raw from licking. The money spend on medications, creams, cones as well as vet bills were not small. We are now on the other side. Anakin has been diagnosed, he had great treatment at SASH including trial of red light therapy, and ongoing medication for life. All have resulted in Anakin for the first time in his life having a fully furry belly, no scratching, itching and licking (expect for normal grooming) and he is loving life. Thanks SASH team for your support to see Anakin through this.

We had to bring our cat in to SASH at midnight on a Saturday after he took a turn for the worse after being diagnosed with gastric lymphoma. We knew it was time to say goodbye and we were devastated. We were greeted by Hailee, one of the vetinary nurses who was incredibly kind. She took us straight to a private room to spend time with our boy and spoke us about him. She was absolutely lovely and genuinely caring and made this experience so much easier. The vet joined after to administer the euthanasia and was also kind and informative. She let me hold my boy as we said our final goodbye. She then left us with him so we could have some time which was needed. After being to other emergency vets that were absolutely horrible, this far exceeded my expectations and was also not crazy expensive. Thank you for everything

I cannot fault this place at all. The other night I noticed my dog Elvis wasn't sitting up right, walking unbalanced (he had fallen of the bed the night before). From the moment I arrived at SASH the reception staff were very warm, welcoming, very friendly and concerned at Elvis's health. Telling me to make myself at home by making a coffee at the coffee bar they have set up. They made me feel at ease by always checking on myself and Elvis. I was able to see Dr Hayes who had a very calming nature and was very gentle caring towards Elvis. He offered very good advice and i couldn't have been happier. I did not feel rushed at all. Then as we were leaving in the car one of the receptionists was at the door waving goodbye. I can say Elvis is doing good. Thankyou to all the staff at SASH you guys are awesome.

  • Liz Hillam

I would rarely, if ever, take the time to leave a review about an organisation, however I feel that this one is warranted. We have a very anxious dog that can come across as aggressive. We were impressed by the nurses that came out to the car to assist in getting our dog inside. From there, the service was swift and our little guy was well taken care of. we appreciated the followup phone call that afternoon from the surgeon on duty. When we went to pick up our family member, the vet on duty went through all the details with us to ensure we understood the prognosis and follow up care. Was super impressed and for the first time in along time, didn't feel anxious about being at the vet! Can't recommend the service and care ( both for pet and humans!) here. Thank you so much for caring for us all!

There are not enough words in my vocabulary to express how amazing my experience has been at SASH. We thought we were going to lose our dog, but they did an amazing diagnosis, treatment, and care plan for the future. She stayed for multiple days, and I had to visit often to entice her to walk, so encountered multiple staff members who all knew her well, genuinely cared, and sometimes gave me a hug when I needed it, too. Despite the lengthy stay, I was amazed at the price, and when they thought they had narrowed down the disease promptly cancelled pending tests which saved us money. Mostly though, the passion and love for animals are so evident. I hope people don’t need to use their emergency service, but if they do, know that there is no better place for your loved one to be. Thank you.

  • Gabriella Giuliani

The team that makes up SASH deserve more praise than words can explain. From the team that help you the second you walk in the door, to the immediate nurse consult, to the DRs that run thorough exams - you are all amazing. My Missy was in their care for about 48 hours, the whole time I was contacted every step of the way with updates via text, phone calls with thorough information on her diagnosis, and genuine interest in her well being. I've never felt so at ease leaving my girl in care the way I did at SASH. Our little boxer baby is on the road to recovery thanks to these absolute angels and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Thank you all again for going above and beyond, you treated Missy like she was your own and that's all a Dog mum can ask for. Thank you all again

I arrived at SASH to speed up the euthanasia for my beloved dog, who was suffering from malignant lung cancer. Despite knowing the outcome and having some time to accept the situation and say goodbye, I was still quite upset when entering the building. The staff at SASH was extraordinary though. I was greeted with compassion and genuine kindness. The comfort room was cosy and had everything we needed. We even got some treats for Charlie (that he didn't eat, but still). The vet explained the process, was gentle and kind, and also kept me distracted when appropriate. In the end, it was a smooth process, despite being so overwhelmingly sad. I am grateful that Charlie experienced such good care in his last moments and was more comfortable than I thought he would be.

I had to come in on Saturday night because my cat had a facial injury. I was very impressed by the very compassionate and professional service from the front desk, and a very clean, comfortable waiting room with loads of cat pheromones to keep my cat calm. I waited about an hour to be seen, both the vet nurse and vet seemed thorough, professional, friendly and very kind toward my cat. They seemed to diagnose the issue correctly, and my cat was given an injection along with medication to take home. All up it was around $400, I thought this was very reasonable given the time I was visiting and the medication. Thank you to the SASH team for such lovely service. For anyone with an animal emergency, I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic.

  • Amelia Roberts

Our cat was admitted for 24 hrs recently. Unimpressed by the intake Vet's bedside manner. They did not do things in a timely manner because they had 'a lot of other patients to look after' and wanted to keep him overnight to do tests they should have done during the day. We declined, took him home, and went back to our own Vets who were far better than the Vets at SASH. I don't know how SASH can justify charging $1,016.00 just for IV fluids. It's outrageous. On discharge, they sent us home with strong pain killers for him which were too high a dose for him and each syringe was not even drawn up correctly. This is not just careless but dangerous. Our local Vet was NOT impressed! We do not recommend going to SASH if you can avoid it.

  • Michael Austin-Gmail

Needed a Vet on Sunday 18 June. Ended up with a sicker dog. On examination sash vet stressed Brodie’s need to stay the night for an IV, scans, blood tests etc. The next day they were insistent he go home as he was stable but distressed from being there and would recover better at home. When we picked him up and payed the $2,000 dollar bill. Our toy poodle was in pain and sicker than he was when admitted to sash. Took him to his regular vet who treated his gastritis with medication and he was well on the way to recovery within 12 hours at a cost of $200. Suggest you review the clinical competence of your handling of his case. Unless you business model is about filling beds rather than treating sick animals.

  • shane stoeckel

They literally sent my 7 year old dog home after $9,000 in charges in a worse condition than he arrived. Despite being repeatedly told he had a history of swallowing foreign objects, with a foreign unidentified mass showing up on scans, SASH only treated him for gastro. He was discharged still not eating, not drinking and having lost almost 2kg (almost a quarter of his body weight) after 6 days. A second opinion and scans within 48 hours with the exact same information, by the absolute legends at Tea Tree Gully Vets, and he’s in for life saving surgery at a third of the cost. Avoid in all situations other than you have a pet who has never spent a night on their own as they have a monopoly on this service in Adelaide.

  • Jay S

All the staff here are so lovely. We attended here in March 2023 early in the morning when our baby girl cat presented unwell. Unfortunately we had to very unexpectedly send her to cat heaven in the same visit. The staff did all they could and presented all the possible options and outcomes to help us make a decision in our own time. They gave us time to see her before saying goodbye and walked us through all the actions they were taking. Every interaction was thoughtful and caring, even the follow ups with the front desk staff collecting the ashes. The staff seem to genuinely care about the pets in their care and us the owners. The follow ups with AWL afterwards were equally as kind and prompt.

At the beginning our Maltese needed urgent removal of Inflamed Gallbladder which otherwise would have burst...after surgery we were informed all went well and a fully recovery looked positive...but with a short stay at home things took a turn for the worst and Sasha returned to Hospital only to be told her Kidneys were failing and after a stay ....with no positive outcome we brought Sasha home and within two days with all hope lost our poor little girl lost her fight to live and sadly passed away.....the hope we were given and the $21,000 outlay i dont wish what we encountered on anyone...i feel if the truth would have been given one would feel a lot at ease and not suffered with (HOPE)

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care everyone at SASH provided to our beloved cat, Joey. From the receptionists to the veterinary nurses and technicians, a genuine love for animals was evident in every interaction, and it brought us peace of mind knowing that Joey was in such caring hands. The attention to detail and thoroughness in diagnosing and treating Joey's health issues while offering support during a difficult time was invaluable. Everyone took the time to explain each step of the process, ensuring we understood the treatment options and the best course of action for Joey's well-being. We are so lucky to have you all as our trusted veterinary team.

My vet told me to contact SASH because it was a Sunday, of course when all dogs need a vet, , and I found the people very professional and far better than the other emergency vet who I will NEVER use again because they do more harm than good. Of course the cost is higher but it’s expected for out of hours care. I am happy to know SASH is available for emergencies and so far my experience has been excellent! At least the vet made sense when explaining things and made concessions because I have a lot of experience with dogs which I greatly appreciated! The 4 stars is only due to the cost but even that wasn’t as bad as other emergency vets who have injured my dog in their care!

  • Shirley Van

Absolutely brilliant service from Dr Ryan Taggart who was phenomenal in every way. Dr Taggart was so professional and friendly to the furry patient as well as to us as owners. He was able to diagnose the issue promptly and confidently, and took the time to thoroughly explain the prognosis and steps forward in terms we could understand. It is very clear Dr Taggart is exceptional in the field with significant experience, and we feel full trust with him. My husband and I came straight to SASH for the initial consult as we believe for the clinic to be the best in Adelaide. The nurses and administrative staff were also brilliant. I always recommend SASH to family and friends.

  • Karen ONeill

Andrew was amazing at our visit with our Chihuahua Sachi. The staff were extremely supportive and sensitive to our doggie's needs and his Mum and Dad's emotional needs. Cannot thank you guys enough. Sachi is booked in for surgery with Andrew next week and we know he is in safe hands. Andrew, thank you for taking the time to explain to us what is ahead for Sachi. It is extremely difficult to have to entrust your precious family member to another vet. You have won us over!! I also need to thank our local vets , Alan, Katrina and everyone else from Victor Harbor Central and Riverport Vets in Goolwa.

  • Karen Ross

#SashvetAdelaide #ethical #kind #caring #professional Omg! Just so thankful for the professionalism of all care staff! Extremely ethical and honest care and support! It was so so busy when we went, but you wouldnt notice any stressed worn out fed up staff... they showed nothing but care and concern and support for everyone in the emergency department! Thank you for seeing our baby for her emergency! Didn't push for costly care. Thorough check over! Just so grateful for the care shown to not only our baby girl but to us as well. Just so grateful! Thank you! From Taylor and Karen

When Berlin suffered a severe GDV (bloated and twisted stomach) on Saturday, she was rushed to SASH. The quick and effective response of the vets and nurses saved her life. Their care greatly improved the chance of survival for a 12 year old girl. The staff are very caring and supportive, both to their patients but also the families. Open 24/7, you can go anytime and the standards never drop. The place is so spotless clean. We feel very lucky that we went to SASH for help when needed urgently. This is the place to go. Photos just for attention - her throne at SASH, a week after the surgery.

SASH provided such a different experience to any of the other emergency vets we have used over the years. Everyone including reception, nurses and vets were incredibly lovely and helpful. The space they have is very comfortable which makes a difference when waiting around in the early hours of the morning. The communication over our Winnie’s 24 hour stay was excellent and they provided a comprehensive report to our regular vet for follow up. Hopefully we don’t need emergency vet care in the middle of the night again anytime soon but, IF we do, we will definitely be going back to SASH.

  • Tom Dickson

Couldn’t be happier with the way our dachshund was looked after while staying at SASH. I was never felt pressured into anything and was provided with all the information I needed to understand what was happening to our dog and how to look after her when she came home after having surgery. During her four night stay, each night the nurses sent me photos of our dog and provided morning and evening text message updates, followed my a morning call from the surgeon/radiologist. They all made what was an extremely stressful and upsetting experience easier to cope with.

  • Jenn J

Everyone from the reception staff and Drs at Sash are amazing. So kind, caring and checking in to see if your okay. Unfortunately the dog i was caring for didnt come home but the decision was best. The Dr was so open and honest of all the possibilities they could try for the dog i was lookong after, the Dr made sure I was aware of all outcomes. I cant thank your team enough for the empathy you showed myself and the dog Buffy earlier this week. The Dr and the team is honestly is the best emergancy vet clinic i have been too. Thank you so incredibly much

  • Eleanor Garrard

We rushed our rabbit to SASH after being turned away from another emergency vet. By the time we arrived she was having seizures and sadly very little could be done. The admin staff, nurses and vet prioritised us from the moment we walked through the door. They allowed us to wait in a private consult room and, when the time came to say goodbye, ensured we had the chance to hold her. Communication was clear, proactive and empathetic. While we didn’t get a happy ending, we left knowing they did everything they could and we’re so grateful for their efforts.

  • T V

Had to bring my dog in for overnight monitoring, transferring over from another clinic after she had a seizure. The staff were great and the veterinarian was very thorough with finding out my dogs medical history and asking questions about the timeline for her treatments at the other clinic for the past few days. Very professional, gave sound information and advice. Many thanks to the team and especially to the vets who looked after her and the vet nurses who made sure to try to get her to eat as it was important to her recovery today. Highly recommend.

  • Nicky Lier

Had to go to SASH last night for my 2yo Blue Heeler Cross and the Nursing Staff are the Absolute BEST!!! So friendly, compassionate and helpful. Just a lovely experience for a stressful situation. As my girl's injury was in no immediate risk of infection, we didn't stay to see the vet as they were super busy, but the Nursing Staff were so wonderful I can't praise them enough. The facility is pretty flash too and it was such a great safe space for my pups. I always bring both dogs when we go to the vet and they were extremely supportive of that.

  • Ayy Arrh

I was very pleased with the prompt and professional care provided to Peppa, and the empathy and compassion that all of the staff displayed during a very upsetting time. I felt like I was heard and kept in the loop on Peppa's treatment, and I was very grateful that I was allowed to visit her during her stay in the hospital. SASH have a fantastic blood donation program, ensuring that blood was immediately available when Peppa needed an emergency transfusion - thank you to the staff and all of the blood donor families from our family <3

  • Kerrie Krom

The service we have received from SASH has been outstanding! I have never felt so supported by any business as Ryan and the team have provided us. Their compassion, pet centred approach and dedication has been unbelievable. Thank you all so much for everything you have done to support our client and his dog. Well done to the whole team. You are very beautiful people and highly professional practitioners. I will be recommending SASH to any pet owner I come across. We are so grateful for everything you have done. Best of luck Kerrie

  • Yvette French

I have been immensely impressed by the "experience" in dealing with SASH at what has been an emotional time for us. Your attention to not only our dear fur baby, but us as fur parents has been second to none. I appreciated the morning text messages to give us peace of mind, the availability of vets/nurses and surgeons on in-person/phone consults to talk through results, concerns, recovery etc has been amazing too - again, we feel well supported and that we've received the best care and treatment for our little guy!

Best possible care given to my girl Bella after a Brown Snake bite. 2 days in ICU and frequent updates via text message and phone calls, there was even a photo update to let me know how she was going. Nothing was too difficult and they explained what they needed to do in detail. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost considering the effort, care and medication she had to have to save her life. First class care for not just Bella, the care extended to me was also first class. Thank you all for saving my girl.

We are on holiday from Perth and were also several hours from Adelaide at the time that we had an after hours incident with our dog. I called and spoke to Cassandra (I think, i didnt have great reception) and explained what had happened. Not only did she suggest the best way to proceed she also gave me the contact information for another 24hr vet that was closer to where we were. This truly shows this vet clinic has the best care for animals in mind and I am so grateful for your help. Dave.

  • carolyn Savage

Very nice n experienced staff, really made us feel calm n was prompt in their action to ensure our pet was given fast attention to her needs. Highly recommend their professionalism n steady was of the essence on this matter. Little costly but even calling out local vet which is none existent on weekends would have caused delay in treatment n also cost to call in vet anyway if one would come. Plus our little furkids was worth every penny to secure her safety. Can tgank them enough.

This place is fantastic, there level of care is nothing like I’ve ever seen before. The nurses are polite and helpful as soon as you walk in the front door. They understand what you and your pet are going through and are extremely helpful. The doctors are the best Australia has to offer, they are thorough, professional and very caring. My favourite experience with this vet is they always introduce themselves to the patients before the owner. That’s a huge plus in my opinion.

  • Steven Potter

What a fantastic Vet experience, a doctor actually sat and explained in depth what was happening and what & how a procedure had to be done, it wasn't cheap but was certainly worth while doing. If you have a pet that MAY need surgery this place is where you go. The waiting area is incredible with a coffee machine that makes a great cappuccino, very comfy seating even some desk type seating with power points and phone charge USB points, a new building just up from Bunnings.

  • Green Machine

To the staff at SASH: Just a thank you for looking at my rat "Nina" immediately when I bought her in Thursday night. She suffered a very nasty crush injury and was in obvious distress. She could barely walk and was dragging her back legs behind her. Despite the odds stacked against her, in the last 4 days she has improved immensely. She can now walk and run on all fours but with a slight limp. She is becoming her usual playful, happy and misbehaving self. Cheers.

  • Samantha Flanagan

I have been taking my senior chihuahua to SASH since they opened. All of the staff have been super lovely each visit. Dr Davies and Dr Nicholls have provided Akira with the best care, and have advised and guided us throughout her many health issues. Despite being incredibly busy, they always take the time to answer my many questions and are so caring with Akira, whom occasionally can be a difficult patient. Thank you to the team at SASH for all that you do.

  • Lauren Wells-Jones

We are very grateful for the services and care our dog received for her emergency spinal surgery. Everything from the moment we arrived on a Sunday morning through to our most recent physio appointment has been efficient and professional. Thank you so much for assisting with our insurance and explaining each step along the way. Our dog Penny is recovering very well and we hope that she will have a lot more time with us thanks to the amazing team at Sash.

  • Alexia Pavlou

Cant speak highly enough of SASH and its staff (nurses, vets and front desk). They put our minds and hearts at such ease having our furry girl with them in an emergency for 4 days. They treated her with so much love and we received constant updates which helped through a hard time. I don’t know of any other vet that would have your dog walking back behind closed doors away from you with a wagging tale! Thank you so much SASH- we are so grateful.

  • Sharene Voss

It was a great experience from start to finish. Particularly when you are in stressful situations with your beloved pet, to be greeted by compassionate smiles and helpful staff is a must. Private cat waiting areas...recharging ports...Coffee area par excellence...soothing decor...it was all great. THEN professional and personable veterinary doctors treating your fur baby. My fears were assuaged immediately. Thank you.

  • Jodie Johnston

Staff at the desk were very nice and caring. The vet was alright, but I feel they are money grabbers here. I understand it's an emergency vet clinic, but $307 just to walk in the door. Jesus! And then to be told my dog needed this that and the other and could cost thousands! Then go to my local vet on Monday to be told what my dog went through is very common and that shell be fine. Not even emergency told me that.

  • Julie Barrett

Was very happy that the surgeon and also the nurses took very good care of our love one. They explained in depth and detail on how and what they are going to do in surgery and what happens afterwards too. Toby ( the dog) would like to sat a very big thank you for looking after me and for giving me lots and lots and lotssss of hugs too. My mummy and daddy recommend SASH to any animal love. Thank you Sash. Xxxx

  • Darine Michael

Absolutely fantastic professional service from the moment you walk in the door. All staff were just terrific. A special mention to Dr Caitlyn Page who provided Koto with exceptional care. She was incredibly intelligent and thorough. An amazing vet that we were very fortunate and grateful to have treat our Akita. Highly recommend SASH for exceptional service and this was on a public holiday too.

  • Byron Lee

Thank you for the care and the wonderful way our pet toy poodle was looked after. Lovely and will to help and go over the top. The reception staff were lovely a special thanks for the reception who took our grandson and made him a hot chocolate. The nursing staff were lovely and understanding. The Vet was lovely, very caring, understanding and explained our little Missy injury and treatment.

  • Rob Shea

My wife Annie and I were so very impressed with the care and attention to our golden retriever for a torn cruciate ligament. At about the same time our 15 year old cat was run over and died on the way to SASH. Emergency medical clinics could learn greatly from the excellent customer service that SASH provides. We highly recommend attending SASH for any animal emergency. So very impressed!

  • Kathy Riley

I couldn’t fault them at all. We were given all options for our chronically ill cat, and didn’t feel pressured into anything. Everything was explained well and we felt heard. We had low expectations going in (thinking they might be more about money than care) but it was a very good experience and from the minute we walked through the door - everyone was fantastic. Highly recommend.

  • A S

Happy with the updated messages and photos while my puppies were at SASH. The Admin staff were very helpful in finding out information and very caring. Doctor phone calls with information on the progress of my puppies were very informative. The whole team at SASH do a wonderful job, for such a difficult line of work at times when animals are suffering. Well done to you all ❤️

  • Jemma Kitto

Super calming environment and friendly and compassionate staff, no matter what time you have to be there. I really appreciate the time they took to explain our options and the controlled haste they took to get our fur baby out of pain and diagnosed. The communication is frequent and thorough and we were welcome to call anytime for an update. Thanks to everyone who works there

  • lizzy

A great experience here for me and my dog - the staff are very welcoming and the hospital is really well set up, lots of power points, a water station, even a coffee machine! The vets are very professional and made a great plan for my dog that I was really happy with. I also really loved they have gap only payment if you have pet insurance. There is onsite parking as well.

  • Andy Lieu

Every staff member are lovely and very understanding. I unfortunately decided let my baby go, and as heart-wrenching the decision was, every staff member were very empathetic, patient and gentle. Gave my family and me a lot of time to process and say our last goodbyes before we were ready. We can't thank you enough for allowing us the time we needed in such a short notice.

  • Emily Wall

Unfortunately, our boy is running on the rainbows in the skies. Nurse Grace was a complete and utter blessing. The perfect mix of professional and comforting. She made our journey at SASH easier and calmer whilst empowering us to make considered decisions. Any family would be lucky to have Grace help them with their most precious family member. Thank you Nurse Grace xo

  • Karen Goodall

So impressed with the staff at SASH, especially Dr Dillan who had recently joined the team. He explained everything in detail and continuously checked my understanding. Everyone was so kind and caring towards my boy (staffie) Colin, and his overly worried mum. Quick, professional service from the first phone call to us leaving after his MRI. Can't thank them enough...

  • IR-NOmercy

My dog just today passed away , would be my last one forever . We all sad . Wish could live together longer . Just can say thank you for your great service. You are amazing . Everything is 5 star . Aprriciate your hard work . Appreciate your sympathy and given us more than enough times with our dog even after the process . God bless you . Wish you the best

  • Simon Hilder

Staff are friendly and it's a nice place but the process to see a vet is painfully slow. We had a simple transfer for our pup to be in overnight and waited 3 hours to admit him. Wasn't until his blood pressure plummeted that he was admitted. The wait would have probably been ok except we got there at 9pm and left after midnight then had an hour drive home.

  • Jas On

Excellent care, the price is the same as others for after-hours care. Very clean. Coffee machine, water, toilets, good waiting area. Nice staff, relevent treatment, no pressure, clear communication. Unlike most vets, there are no products are displayed for sake. It looks like a hospital! Highly recommended. My Tenterfield Terrier is healed and well. : )

  • Kirsty T

Every interaction we have had, with every staff member at SASH - from client services, nursing staff and the Vet team - has been exceptional. While we would hope to not need SASH’s services ever again, the inevitability of pet ownership means that it is likely that we will. It is incredibly reassuring, as an owner, to have SASH’s presence in Adelaide.

  • san

They not only care for your dog but for you too. The support I received from the staff was beyond…after my Corgis accident which required surgery, I was a complete mess but felt so comfortable with the way staff helped me through it at all. They are extremely professional, so caring of your loved one and go the extra mile. Best emergency hospital ♥️

  • Daniel R. Olar

We took Maeve to SASH for specialised help for a Total Hip Replacement surgery and I would never go anywhere else again. The team at SASH has been amazing, supporting us on our journey all the way. Dr.Ryan and the surgery team have done an amazing job. Maeve is recovering very fast and has absolutely no issues. Thank you very much for everything.

  • Katrina Wight

Dr Andrew was caring and showed compassion to our beautiful Nala (staffy) He was totally on board with exploring her many ailments through a ct scan and bloods to help to provide the optimum on going management of lameness and overall wellness. Our Nala has a HUGE history, shes a cancer survivor on top of every thing too. She deserves the best

  • Michelle Humphris

Dr Andrew Dunn has done both of our Rottweilers TPLO surgeries, his work is exceptional, his sharing of information is great too. He calls after each surgery to let us know how it went, also lets us know all costs upfront so there are no surprises. The staff are lovely, from nurses through to reception staff are very helpful and friendly.

  • Lincoln Brant

After our local emergency vet was closed SASH took our dog Alby in for treatment with no hassles, excellent assessment and treatment. We thought he had a stroke/ paralysis turns out he was stoned. Staff put us at ease, kept in touch overnight and updates in the morning. Highly recommended them, Quality facilities, kind and helpful staff

  • Laura A

Back in February had our dog admitted overnight. Came back to us soaked in his own dried urine and didn’t make it back out to our car before wetting himself and urinating for a horrific amount of time. He was more traumatised by living in his own waste than the reason we were there. Took weeks to get the smell of urine out his feet.

  • Soe Yadanar

I was there for my Pepper (bunny) emergency medical needs and after a short minute, a nurse came and had a check on her. The veterinarian Alex is a fantastic doctor. He understands and explains really well. Handled my pepper great and found out what’s wrong with her. Me and my bun bun are very grateful and it was good experience.

  • Kelly Hunt

The level of service and the wonderful support we have received from the Team at SASH is second to none! Every step of the way we have felt very reassured and informed. I especially loved the photo updates of our baby over night. Thank you so much for everything you have done for us in giving Riley another chance at life …

  • Craig Hole

I cannot speak highly enough of the service my kelpie Betty received at SASH. Every step of the way was thoroughly explained. All staff were very professional in their approach and Andrew did a brilliant job on Betty's leg. I'd have no hesitation in recommending SASH to anyone with a pet that required treatment and/or surgery.

  • Sarah Roberts

Really good experience. Thorough assessment from multiple staff, clear communication, and honest advice delivered with integrity, no pressure to undertake additional diagnostics etc. All staff were very kind and reassuring; and the design/layout of the waiting area is very thoughtful in terms of animal comfort (and owners).

  • Laura Bickley

The team here were absolutely amazing helping me with the sudden, unexpected passing of my cat. The woman I spoke with and met on the front desk last night was beyond amazing in a time that was unbelievably difficult for me and I cannot thank you enough for being so supportive and caring in such a difficult time.

  • Fiona Glidden

Excellent wonderful service!! Fantastic warm and understanding welcome from the ladies at the desk. Equally warm nurses who are very patient and explain everything. Andrew Dunn was excellent and positive and Ryan equally so, both ringing me to explain and describe the surgeries. Thank you so much ❤️

  • harvey gregoey

I have attended the hospital since our 1st appointment with Oscar back in August 22. The caring staff from Receptionists to Vet Nurse’s and Dr Ryan Taggart has been nothing but professional & exceptional! The care you have shown our boy Oscar in his ongoing treatment has been excellent! Love ya work guys …

  • Andrew Pompili

I took my female dog to this hospital with a Urinary tract infection to see a vet. During our visit the vet decided to digress and proceeded to manipulate my dogs rear leg to the point were she couldn't walk the next day. Staff members lack accountability, knowledge and empathy. Avoid this place at all costs!

  • Jason Smith

What a great bunch of professionals. To be treated in such a caring way at a time of such sorrow was greatly appreciated by my family and myself. Thank you to Dr Alex and all the staff at the Kent Town practice for helping us on the day allowing us to say goodbye to our beloved dog Robbie. Thank you all.

  • Liana Coorey

Thank you to all workers at Sash for taking such good care of my cat. We came into Sash unexpectedly on a Friday night, they were very honest and open with what was required. We received text message updates twice a day of my boy and a phone call at least once a day. Would recommend Sash to anyone!

  • S Sanders

They are amazing here. My dog spent 3 nights there and the vets were lovely and kept me updated several times a day. I received several photos from them with messages from my dog. The receptionists were so kind and caring. Can't recommend them highly enough for taking such good care of my boy.

  • John Evangelista

We unfortunately had to come in to put down our family dog yesterday, the poor old girl just couldn't go on any more. The SASH team were amazing, so caring and professional, they gave us all the time and space we needed to say goodbye. An amazing team that do an amazing job, thank you so much!

  • Marion Bowes-Johnston

Thank you to all the Vets, Nurses reception staff and everyone else at SASH Adelaide for saving our Licorice (mini schnauzer) after she ingested rat poison, you are all amazing dedicated caring people. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts (it just doesn’t seem enough)

  • John Ivancic

Andrew was exceptional and gave us his undivided attention and a lot of his time to ask many questions and then followed up via email. We left feeling that Johnson was going to be receiving the best care available. So very happy and I highly recommend the practice

  • Tamme GH

I was very impressed by the detail Dr Davies spent going over a history, explaining his thoughts, caring for my dog and doing appropriate tests required. I feel Dr Davies is very experienced and knowledgable in kidney care which is exactly why I came to SASH.

  • Renee Brougham

This second opinion was what we needed to give us hope for our dog. Dr Penny was extremely knowledgeable and very thorough with her examination and very professional. We valued her knowledge so much that she has given us hope to help our dog recover.

  • Heather Kelly

Everybody we met were extremely courteous and friendly. The Surgeon provided us with options and explained George's Achilles surgery. They also explained what was required in his home care to enable him to complete his 8 week surgical recovery phase.

  • Alexandra Elliott

SASH are absolutely wonderful! I cannot praise the staff enough for their help, support and communication. They listened and acted incredibly fast and kept me informed at all times throughout my 8 week old puppy's hospitalisation. Thank you so much!

  • S Smith

Very pleased with the second opinion I received for an aging dog with several conditions. Your thoroughness and explanation of my options was outstanding. A caring and sensitive approach with great technical detail. Highly recommend your service.

  • Lynette Prescott

Ryan is the most caring and lovely vet and did such a skilled job on a previous dog that we would never hesitate to come to him for any surgical procedures/advice etc. The whole team at SASH were just wonderful and so caring towards our fur baby.

  • Alexandra Harris

When King ate an electric razor head we were devastated. So thankful and grateful to all the dedicated staff at SASH who clearly are genuinely invested and care about what they do. King is doing well but will be spending some time in doggy jail…

  • Kay Riding

Doctor Ryan was wonderful and fully explained the ligament repair our little 3.4 toy poodle would need. The girls on the desk were very friendly. Rozie is our most precious possession and we are reassured she will be wonderfully cared for.

Can't thank the Team at Sash enough. Our precious Toby was there for 2 nights and they kept us up to date twice daily and sent us pics of our little man. They made the whole process a little easier in such a stressful time. Thank you!

Saw Dr Andrew Dunn, he took the time thoroughly examine the dog first, and also to look at imaging to make a diagnosis. He was patient and ensured I understood the condition, the potential cost of treatment and options available.

  • Damien Threlfo

Amazing love and care from the staff. Our 15 year old cat had a stroke, and we were looking for end of life services. The staff were there for us; to help us through a horrible time. Thank you so much for being there for us!

We came over from Port Lincoln recently so our dog Luna could have a small procedure. Amazing staff, nurses & vets! We loved the text update & call after surgery to explain what was found. Great communication by all :)
