Finally I found a school/educational institution that truly fosters capable individuals by identifying their strengths and working on them. SARVAM is an inclusive school and teaching there for one whole academic session has brought about a lot of clarity regarding inclusion in so many ways. It is based on the philosophy of Ayurveda and yoga, which is a part of day to day life for all the people who are a part of SARVAM. Yoga is a compulsory part of the school system. Parents and teachers are advised and trained to include meditation and yoga as a part of their daily lives. All round development of students is taken care by including various sports activities, music classes, art activities, dance classes, cooking activities, field trips, thread and needle work, group discussions and a lot more. And above all, it stresses on working on language skills so that all other subjects become easy to understand. Yes, SARVAM is not a normal school. It is different from all the regular mainstream schools I have worked with so far. I have been surprised to see the ease with which complex concepts of atoms, nature, being one with nature are taught in such an easy, fun manner. Even a 6/7-year-old student can understand, follow, and speak about the concepts of creation, healthy living, importance of yoga, meditation, etc. Neuro- diverse and neuro- typical students study in the same class, play together, do so many things together in such a positive environment. People who want to seek admission for their kids, should come and understand the school philosophy first and then decide if it suits their requirements/ expectations. We, as parents and individuals, are so different from each other yet one thing is common for all the parents, that we want the best for our kids. But all these things are very subjective, hence one should always check and understand the school philosophy and then decide to take admission in a particular school. Working with Ms. Swati Morzaria and Mr. Natrajan has been an amazing experience so far. For the first time in my entire career (more than 18 years), I saw a Principal/ founder of the school, so humble. She bows down to say thank you to her staff which includes teaching staff and even the helpers who clean the school washrooms and the school van drivers. On one hand she's is strict about the curriculum and behaviour to be followed and on the other hand she is respectful towards all the individuals who are a part of the school. The way teachers are respected and appreciated for their efforts is something that keeps me bonded to the school.
