Bad customer service. Called front desk/called reception/called room service, no one was picking up the phone. Fridge was not working, my drinks weren't cold. Asked for an ice bucket and to rectify the issue and they made me pay for it. Had to pay security deposit without any info in advance. Everything was just pay pay pay for extra. So much so for a 4 star hotel. I've been to a lot of hotels around the world and the customer service from this hotel needs major rectification. Asia hotels do much much better. Staffs are just lazy I feel. I asked for a wine opener. Waited mins, then hours until I checkout, still no news of a simple wine opener or anyone coming over to assist in opening. Worst service ever. Rooms were good. Service was atrocious. I do not recommend this hotel however good it is. There's so much more better hotels out there with better service. Even if a hotel is clean and good, service is much more important, this adds to the greatness of the hotel. Do not book Rydges Southbank.. you would just empty your pockets paying for everything. This is my honest review as a frequent traveler. Happy new years to all

Great view
We had an overnight stay with Rydges. The package deal included a room with a view, buffet breakfast, and 1 pm check out and valet parking. Great staff, very friendly and courteous. The room was the letdown for the price we paid (I felt). Walked into the room and looked straight at the toilet in the tiny en suite (great shower). The room was quite small compared to other places. Had to pay near $30 to watch a movie. We screen shared off the phone. Nightclub music played very loud, at least to 2 am. when I finally fell asleep. Breakfast was fantastic, great kitchen staff. Went to get our belongings at 12.45 pm from our room and had been locked out. I won't purposely stay there again.

There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, meaning everything was wet, from the steam of a hot shower. There was always a wait for the elevators; suggests there is not enough for amount of rooms available. The most annoying thing for me though, was the no option valet parking for 55 bucks a night. Not only did this add to an already expensive nights stay, not included (or noted that i can see on review?) in the original booking, but it was an absolute shambles. The parking itself was very limited, meaning they were trying to do car shuffles to get cars in and out. Made the check in and out process a very long one, as these are peak times for them. You can't even just go down to your car (with out organising with them) to get something out, as they take your keys. I found the whole thing very annoying and expensive. Bed was comfy, ac worked well and was quiet, shower was lovely.

Quiet
Went here a few years back and loved it. Location is great. This time around not so much. Our room was right next to the pool bar and at 2am on the Friday, two hours after the bar is advertised to be shut, we called downstairs asked to be moved given that we were essential in the bar. We were told no because apparently our room rate was not enough for a different room. This is despite paying more this time than the last and paying for a superior room instead of a standard. And the price advertised online at that time was cheaper than what we paid, for a better room. We were eventually moved the next day. Not great considering we went for a wedding and were shattered the whole day having had zero sleep. Other reviews seem to say the same. When paying almost $1000 for two nights you expect better than a hostel atmosphere.

Have recently spent 4 nights at Rydges , and the room was extraordinary well laid out and extremely clean. However it was service for the whole stay that was non-existent and let me down. 1 night I ring reception 4 times over a 2 hr period to try and get an issue fixed, spoke to staff twice & got hung up on twice - NO staff came to help. Next day I lodged a face to face complaint at reception, not once was I asked what my actual problem was and saw no one. Hotel Room - great Food - Fantastic but seriously overpriced Service - non existent and very disappointing

Recently stayed at this hotel for the first time with friends for a leisure stay. Beds and pillows are so comfortable, room well appointed. Bathroom fit out was beautiful, love the big bath tub too ! Great location, close walking distance to so many park areas, restaurants and cafes. Pool very small and shallow but perfrct to cool down on a hot day. I'll be back.

Perfect location with beautiful views of the river. Valet parking. Didn't need our car as we could walk or use free transport options nearby. Rooms clean and very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was just what we needed to start the day. Pool looks great but we didn't use it

I attended a lovely baby shower in a privately booked room. It was a special experience. The room was beautiful and opulent, and the service was excellent. Unlimited wide selections of teas and well presented and tasty treats; the scones were impressive! I would visit again. More
Great experience from beginning to end. Greeted with a smile, can I get your bag? How was your day? So warm and welcoming. The rooms were nice and amazing views of the city and Brisbane River. Food was good too buy a little pricey. However all in all, well worth it! More
Went here for an event last month. The view was amazing. One of the servers (Brunna?) was extremely helpful and went above and beyond in making sure those with dietary requirements were able to get food before going to the main crowd. Overall very nice venue. More
Beautifully appointed hotel, great location and fantastic service. All the staff from beginning to end were friendly, efficient, helpful and very much on top of their game. A huge thumbs up to the management team, this can only happen from the top down
Stayed weekend of 1/7/24 in a Queen with balcony. Rate seemed low for “luxury” and comparable to a local chain motel. It quickly became apparent why. Room had used glass sitting outside door at check-in. Also observed used dishes sitting at
We have just spent 3 nights in a Suite at Rydges Southbank. Unfortunately, through no fault of Rydges we had 2 days with power shortages. We were slightly inconvenienced, but the very professional and friendly staff were always there to
Arrived, had to wait 6 hours for a room, power and water went out. No air con at night, felt like we were drying had to prop the door open and made no difference. when we asked for help or compensation the poor workers were overwhelmed.
My friend Peter Brown and his wife stayed 2 nights from the 2nd January 2024. Unfortunately, the hotel was subject to a major power failure during their stay that was not the hotels fault. The staff were exemplary in dealing with this
