My car wouldn't start one Saturday afternoon and I had to get it towed, so I picked this place due to distance and high google review. Rick told me right off the bat "this is what I think it might be, if I rush to diagnose it today I might misdiagnose it so it would be better to leave it here until Monday morning when I can really work on it". I live down in San Diego so it wasn't ideal, but because the reviews were so great I said sure, I'll leave it a few days (they're closed Sunday). He actually offered for one of his guys to take my husband and I home when the shop closed in an hour! Monday morning he gave me a call to say this is the problem, this is the cost for the part and the cost for the labor, and this is how much the part would be from the dealership. I double checked the prices he gave me online and he was spot on. Gave him the okay to fix it and when he was done, his son Rick Jr was actually able to drive the car back down to San Diego for me! This father-son combo was SO caring, so good at their work, so honest, and I am very very seriously considering driving the 20-30 minutes up to their shop anytime I need future work done. I've been looking for a trustworthy mechanic for years now and I think I've finally found the one! BTW they do have a ~$200 (I think) diagnosis fee, but Rick explained to me that the fee amount goes right into the labor fee when they do the actual work on your car. You would only actually be charged that fee if all youre getting done is a battery switch or something very very small that they otherwise would make no money on. They had to put a new started into my car, and had to remove the exhaust manifold to access it, so they charged a total of $240 for that 2 hours total of labor. Fair deal. Love these guys.

I’m new to this country!! The worst place I ever been to fix my cars cranking problem when my car battery is dead! they tried to rip me off. They charged me $180 for their time and spending their experience and knowledge and they didn’t even tell me what the problem is in my car. My question is why should I pay when they didn’t even told me about the cranking problem in my car. and on top they asking more money to work extra one and half hour to find out the what the problem is. I took it to My mechanic and he finds it out with in 10 minutes what the problem is. They can’t figure it out even after 1&1/2hours. Don’t ever go here !! Give my money back !!

I have used Rick and his guys several times while living in San Diego and had to again while visiting out there this summer. I had a coolant leak, that I had to fix before driving across the desert and back to Arkansas. As has always been the case, Rick checked out my truck and offered me my options and his suggestions. He took care of me on price and wanted to make sure the job was done right and everything was working properly before I left town. This is an honest, great bunch of knowledgeable mechanics who really care about their customers. Thanks Rick and the crew. I wish your busy shop continued, rightfully earned success. You guys rock!

I took my car in for a smog check and they noticed that my exhaust was leaking. I knew there was something wrong because my gas mileage was declining and my car was making weird noises. He was so nice about it and I took my car back in the next week to get repaired. His son even took me to work and picked me back up. When I came back to get my car he showed me the manifold that he took out and the crack that was in it. He even replaced the gaskets with no extra charge. Rick was very honest and I've never had an experience quite like that from a mechanic before. It's a very nice family owned business and i would highly recommend him to anyone.

A while back, I took my car in for an oil change. When I came back I noticed that my odometer had over 250 miles put on it. When I confronted the manager, Rick, or whoever he was, he simply offered me $50 in free gas. I should have rejected it and filed a police report but I didn’t as being younger and more naïve at the time, and I accepted this $50 in gas. But I do want to share my experience with everyone to beware of this place. I do not think they are honest and I cannot believe they drove and used my car for who knows what and put over 250 miles on it. Beware of this place!

Wow!! Excellent service to say the least....they got me in right away and were able to offer a ride to my local place of business. I spoke to Rick personally who was completely honest and down to earth! They communicated through out the process with updates and estimates. They even brought my car back to work! I am telling you, I haven't seen service like this in years! I will be highly recommending this business to all of my customers and friends in the area! Thanks guys!!

I’ve been coming to Ricks RB Auto for a few years now and they are great ! Love that it is a family owned and operated business. I come to get maintenance done on my car you name it: breaks, oil changes, tires, battery, etc. They don’t try to up sell me and always take good care of me. Rick the owner and his son Ernie are always so kind and take the time to explain things to me . If you’re in the Rancho Bernardo area (or even if you are not)I would definitely stop by!

The owner and staff are incredible! We brought our car here to get a tow hitch installed after a U-Haul location told us they couldn’t do it due to rusted weld nuts. We explained that we were leaving town the very next day and they went out of their way to fit us in. Not only were they able to install the hitch, they were absolutely professional and understanding of our time crunch! Thanks, Rick! You saved our vacation! :)

I went there not too long ago and they charged me very high for something simple and like I am not a mechanic I trusted them but I had the same issue and looked at another place n they charged me HALF of what they did and they told me I had the same problem because when they installed the “new” wires they sparked them so that they could have less life and for me to go back

Ive used these great techs a couple of times and will continue to do so in the future. VERY VERY accommodating. They even let me transfer my childs seats into one of their employees cars to bring my kids to school one morning while they worked on my car! Rick and his team were able to get me in and out within just a couple of hours on last minute notice. After going in, they found I needed something else replaced, so Rick replaced the needed part and didn't charge me because he had already given me my price prior to working on my car. Great, honest, reliable service!

Rick is so professional. He knows the nuts and bolts of the many auto issues he faces and he knows how to communicate extremely well. He is a complete customer service guy, something you don't get these days. They have competitive service pricing along with expertise. Definitely recommend Rick's RB Auto.

Awesome experience. I called in asking them I needed a oil change for my BMW and was able to bring it over and get it serviced right away. The price for it was way cheaper than any where else and I still got the mobile one oil I needed. Friendly, quick,and priced competitively.

I've had work done here before and it was completed without any issues. My problem is with Rick's "no estimates over the phone", as if they expect you're going to have a vehicle towed to them just to get a quote. To me, that's a poor business practice that makes no sense.

Had my fuel filter replaced on my truck. They let me know that the part I picked out would not fit, and found a part that would fit, and got the truck back to me in the same day. Super friendly and professional service, definitely will be going back.

Do not do business with Ricks RB Auto-he bounces checks to every dealer he buys parts from and never pays the money. He has been taken to small claims court countless times, it is public record...look it up and never pays! A total CROOK
