I would rate the hospital more than 4 stars before today's experience. Unfortunately it makes me very uncomfortable. I went to a small coffee shop in RGH this morning, I waited about half meter away in front of the service desk, And I was the first in the line. After a while, I noticed the 3 staff didn't look at me at all, even if they walked pass me, looked over my shoulder or grated with other customers. No grating, no smile or even eye contact. I felt igorned and uncomfortable. I was thinking to leave the coffee shop, before I turned away, a staff grated and started serving another man who just came in. The man looked at me and informed to the staff that I was the first customer in the line waiting, finally I was served. From I went in the coffee shop till I left, I noticed only the lady served me looked at me during service, the other 2 staff didn't bother to have any contact or eye contact with me. I believe I dressed clean and tidy, the only different between me and other customers is skin colour. I don't want to say raci****, but that really makes me sad. I love the hospital, and my wife works there nearly 10 years! How could this happened!

The Repatriation General Hospital Daw Park Adelaide, is an older style hospital with buildings added on, remodelled over the years. Which makes the place a little difficult to find your way around. I have had to attend their Out Patient Department over the past two years and have found the staff most helpful, attentive, and very professional. The Medical staff are highly specialised, giving me great confidence in the treatment I have received. Over the past few years, you read in the local paper "this hospital to be closed down". When you look at the ageing statistics of our population, the number of people on huge long term waiting lists, it would seem common sense not to close this hospital down. I spoke to a number of patients today, and they all expressed my sentiments. Why close a very well used popular functioning hospital down? Unfortunately Common Sense has passed away.

Perfect facilities Great Staff, the best Hospital in South Australia and I have been unfortunate to have to be a patient in most Major Hospitals in Adelaide. Anyone who have made the most STUPID decision to want to close the repat has a very sick mind. Originally the DAW FAMILY GAVE the land to the SA Government for the particular reason to have a Repatriation Hospital built. I don't believe that the Government of today should be allowed to close it. Plus what about the Thousands of dollars recently spent around the Hospital. I would very much like to know what the Govt. intends to do with the EXCELLENT Hospital as it now stands. The new Hospital being built is smaller than the RAH, how about that ?

I was overjoyed to find easy access to Physio and the pool from the door and free carpark, with wheelchairs available just inside the door, and very fast and friendly orderly service to move a wheelchair to eg radiology. My surgery experience was also wonderful with great staff, care, assistance, facilities, and support services especially from Physio and OT, and really nice food. I also think that institutional memory on tap for veterans needing treatment for PTSD is a priceless resource, that it is great for veterans to have a place they can be comfortable among their own, understanding each other, and among staff who are experienced in their problems. Repat is a precious community resource.

For Rep. Hospital I have a great esteem. It may be looking weary from outside, however inside the staffs are incredible in all aspects including professionalism, kindness and emphatics harts. I was impressed that with all the stress and anxiety provoked by the changes of the site Hospital and the near future relocation of the entire staff, they still kept their sense of humour. I would like to give to the entire team who operate me, my sincerely thanks and appreciation for your high professionalism. I imagined you guys soon in the brand new operation room. God bless you all. Joe Pataki

If you have to spend some time in a hospital I can not recommend the Repat highly enough. The staff are fantastic, friendly and caring, the medical attention I have received has been beyond reproach. Yes the buildings are old, but the facilities inside are state of the art. Any one can think of closing this facility has to be mad. Where are the 80,000 patients per year going to go when and if it is closed. Which hospitals is going to find the 300 beds this hospital provides to the people of South Australia. And what of the staff??

Worked at RGH for 17 years after 20 years at RAH, I found a Hospital where all staff genuinely cared for patients and showed compassion and empathy for all. My heart will always be with "Repat" and its dedicated staff, volunteers and patients ... I don't know why, but, it is so different in terms of quality health care to other large Health care Institutions. Shame on the Wetherill Labor Government for shutting it down when we have an ageing population and lack of health care facilities in SA.

The phone number takes you through to flinders medical whom are of no help, got transferred around 4 times (trying to find where my relative is) and got told by the last woman that I needed to know what ward she was in - which was exactly what I was trying to find out!! Get your act together with the phone system!! If stressed out family members can’t find their loved ones because you don’t have a half decent system in place then it’s well BELOW par and SOMETHING needs to be done!!

  • Helen Harpas

Despite some food being below par, the care in this facility was exceptional. There is no possible way the nature of the grounds with its trees, birds, fresh air and communitysupport atmosphere can be replicated in the concrete jungle at Flinders Medical Centre. The Federal Government should never have passed this hospital on to the State that now is getting rid of it to make way for $$$$$. Transforming health? Absolutely, transformed into a nightmare!

  • Linda Williams

Really kind, understanding people, especially staff member in reception who walked me around the grounds to the department I needed....no mean feet when everything is in upheaval due to building work.. Hospital staff maybe "at capacity but many are still going the extra human mile. Thank you

  • Andy Hargreaves

Absolutely fantastic service, went in for Facet joint injections yesterday, all the staff were happy smiling people who made me feel relaxed and calm. From the receptionist to the nurses, radiologists & doctors, you were all incredible. Thank you all so much for your care and kindness.

  • Jennifer Minchinton

Went in for an Colonoscopy today. I can not speak highly enough of every person I came in contact with today. Each person was friendly and caring and made me feel like I mattered and my staymore comfortable. I would like to say a huge than you to the staff. Jennifer x

This was a great place where my wife worked for years. Sadly the Labor government decided money was more important & shut it while trying to sell it off even though it was for veterans. I hope people remember how Labor treated the nurses & patients for years to come.

  • Work Assist

Phoned to ask how long the wait was and was told 'no idea'. No empathy, no question of the problem... v rude. Also just found out that the repat clearly isn't open 24 hours at all. The phone diverts to Flinders which, right now, is equally bad

  • brenton stead

I was taken by ambulance to the Rapid Care Centre. The response there was immediate, efficient and very caring. I was so impressed. The people working there are fantastic. This is a much much better option than ER at a hospital.

  • John Shean

The biggest mistake by the Federal Government was handing over the Repat to the State Government, who have no idea as to the needs of the people of SA. This is a fine hospital and should be left as such.

  • Michelle Hurley

Excellent specialist doctors consulting but unfortunately very long wait times/lists for elective surgery. The rehabilitation staff can be bit rude & arrogant but the PROSTHETICS dept staff are excellent.
