Old / Previous Review: “Delicious food as always ” New Review: Had a really unhappy experience with my server regarding a dish (Veg. jaipuri) which we are ordering since last few months now and the north indian food Punjabi quality has been deteriorated as the Chef has changed inside the kitchen(server confirmed). She (my bad for not taking her name) was rude, non compassionate of her customers and arrogant. We always order Veg. Jaipuri as the main course and as always we were expecting it to be good, but the veg. Jaipuri we got was filled with carrots on top like literally 9-10 carrots covering the bowl. So, upon politely asking our sever right away that the dish is not something we were expecting the server’s first words were - “You might not have ordered correctly but let me check” then upon checking she told us that it is in-fact veg. jaipuri. Meanwhile as we were 4 friends, someone from our side said that there is more gravy in this dish and currently it only has more carrots. To which her reply was - “No sir this suppose to be like this and if you have ordered before then do you have a receipt of your previous visit” and we were like SERIOUSLY!!! We know veg. Jaipuri does not have just gravy but our meaning of saying that was referring to the amount of carrots we can see on the top of the dish and no veggies. After all this argument we said we don’t want the dish as the garlic naan were also very dry on order and it didn’t had any cilantro or maybe butter on it. But, her response was that she will still charge me for the rejected dish so we ordered another dish which she was saying from start that you might have ordered that dish (we tried this dish for the first time- veg handi not good). And the cherry on top is when I politely and with smile gave her my review on her service and chef’s work while leaving she replied - “It is your point of view!!”. no sorries no apologies for confusion no kind of customer service. Message to OWNERS : We stopped going to Masakali because of a rude server over there and we thought Rang De was different. Is this the customer service we get when you are not around in the restaurant Me and my friends are NEVER going back there to eat north indian Punjabi food!

Rang De has been my go-to spot for a delightful Desi breakfast, where the Masala Dosa and Chole Bhatura never fail to satisfy. Recently, I decided to switch things up and visited for dinner, revealing a different side to this familiar place. Our server, Hari, was instrumental in making our dining experience enjoyable. He suggested the Chicken 65 as a starter and the Goat Karahi for the main course. To round out the meal, we also ordered Schezwan Noodles (Chicken) and Butter Naan. Portions were ample, ensuring we left with satisfied appetites. Here's a quick rundown of my ratings: Chicken 65 - 5/5 stars: A flavorful and well-executed start to our meal. Goat Karahi - 4/5 stars: While not a traditional Karahi, the rich gravy and tender goat meat earned it a solid 4 stars. Schezwan Chicken Noodles - 3.5/5 stars: Enjoyable, but I couldn't help but think Chicken Hakka Noodles might have been a better fit. Butter Naan - 5/5 stars: A perfect companion to the curries – soft, buttery, and delicious. In terms of the overall dining experience: Ambience: 4.5 stars: The restaurant's atmosphere was warm and welcoming, adding to our overall enjoyment. Service: 5/5 stars: Hari's friendly and attentive service significantly contributed to our positive experience. While Rang De leans towards the pricier side, judicious dish selection can help manage costs. In conclusion, my dinner at Rang De was a pleasant experience, and I would recommend it for those seeking a varied and tasty dining adventure.

As I continue our trials of Indian restaurants in and around Ottawa, I have dined in and ordered from Rang de Indian cusine a couple of times. Compared to similar restaurants in the area Rang de offers a lot of variety in their menu and value for money. They manage to pull off many North & South Indian dishes with near authentic taste. I love their south Indian dishes. I wish their coffee was better, they should add madras filter coffee to their menu. Please steal it from Tanjai. I usually dont order masala dosas for home delivery. By the time its delivered the dosa becomes cold and soggy. But my cravings always wins. So I ordered masala dosa from here and I was pleasantly surprised by their custom Pizza box like packaging which kept the dosa crispy. Why doesnt everyone do this. They should win this years Nobel prize for food packing. Anyways I wish their interiors were a bit more well appointed. Its not really welcoming and service needs to improve. Tables are a bit too crowded for my liking. Overall, food tastes awesome so I dont care too much about the ambience. I would rather like them not renovate and pass on that cost to the menu like folks at Masakali did.

It was our first time at Rang De. We were served by Hari who was very kind, helpful and courteous to us. He made sure we were accomodated for a wheelchair and also our baby. We ordered the Chicken 65 Biryani, Deewani Handi, Rawat ghee dosa and masala dosa. We absolutely loved all these food dishes, the best we have had in Ottawa. The prices are very reasonable, exceptional food and wonderful service. Special mention to Hari whose exceptional service made our experience very memorable. Thank you Rang De, we will be back.

Absolutely amazing experience and delicious food! We had masala dosa, rava dosa, chicken biryani and Diwani handi and we were pleasantly surprised with how good every one of these dishes was. It’s not easy to get such a diverse menu right but they have absolutely nailed it. The service was also exceptional. Our server, Hari, was courteous, friendly and super attentive. Highly recommend this place! It’s worth the drive to Kanata :)

We live in the east side of Ottawa, where the food quality/taste for indian cuisine has been disappointing. Rang De was a pleasant surprise - good flavour, few places where the food doesnt have a pre-cooked taste. Our server Hari, was extremely friendly, courteous and provided great service (the kind you tip for cause it was good, not cause you fear judgement for not tipping ) Babycorn 999 - unique taste, creamy and spicy (not as spicy as we would have liked though) South indian goat curry - lived upto the name, good serving size and taste! Sesame Naan - light, not too chewy and cooked well! Plain Roti - a little like a naan, but cant complain.

The food was good, we ordered the cheese dosa (tasty) but the marsala dosa didn't have much potato in there which was disappointing given the size of the dosa. The butter chicken was delicious (naan was meh, dry and not buttered), the Mumbai Vada Pav was not so great... the vada was good but no sauce (and no need for the bread). We also ordered vegetable noodles... Hard pass. But that Mango Lassi! That was OUTSTANDING! Highly recommend! Service was good, slow service, took a bit to get our food and it wasn't thst busy. Overall, recommend for some good food fair and instagrammable photos.

I visited this restaurant last week, and I found the atmosphere to be pleasant and clean. During lunchtime, it wasn't too crowded, which was nice. I decided to try the chole bhature, and the portion size was impressively large, almost too much to finish. However, I noticed that it was quite oily; they could have drained some of the excess oil before serving it to the customer. In terms of taste, it was above average but didn't stand out as anything particularly special. Additionally, I ordered a mango lassi, which was absolutely delicious. Overall, the general service was good.

This is our third time at this Restaurant. The food is in generous portions, tastes amazing and the ambience is nice. Krishna, our server, was super friendly and courteous. He took the time to explain the dishes we ordered and kept checking with us how the food was. We loved the Rava dosa, Hakka noodle, Szechuan Paneer and Vada that we had ordered. Delicious food..! Loved paneer tikka masala, cauliflower 65, mango lassi. Mango mirchi was fine , idly could be much more softer, rest other food dishes were best in taste and quantity..! What an amazing restaurant! Nice vibe and fantastic food. There are very few restaurants that serve both north and south Indian food and are fantastic in both. The food was delicious. We had the chole bhature and spring mix dosa. Both were yummy. The sambar was the best in the whole of Ottawa and we have tried many restaurants here. Thanks to Krishna for an amazing service.

Went there for a group lunch. Most of us had the lunch special. The servings were ample. While the food was more salty than I would normally eat, it was very flavourful and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Visited Rang de twice and must say they serve tasty and fresh food, the flavours are on point, we tried idly, vada and prawn biryani, they didn’t not compromise on bringing the authentic Indian flavours and taste.
