I've been going to this gym for almost 3 years and this place is something special. I've gone to other boutique and high-end chain gyms in other cities, but they don't compare to what Rain City Fit offers. I love this gym and can't imagine working out somewhere else when living in Seattle. I tend to be a morning gym-goer, I very rarely have to wait more than a minute or two to use any equipment, but honestly I'm able to do most my workouts without waiting. The after-work hours (5pm and after) can be a bit busy, so test your schedule to see what works best. All the equipment is always clean and in functioning order. This aspect is truly under-rated. If something breaks, it's immediately fixed or resolved. Meanwhile I've seen super expensive gyms just not do anything to resolve the issue for days or weeks. Also a great majority of the gym goers respect cleanliness and clean up the equipment after usage too. This gym is local owned and has a high sense of community. The gym has given back so much to local community members and businesses. The owner created an incredible safe space for LGBTQ+ and women here. If you don't respect that, this gym is not for you. During covid-times, the owner took health and safety seriously and I truly appreciate him putting everyone's health first. He created an entire check-in system, set capacity limits to the gym, and enforced wearing masks. With people huffing and puffing when working out, this seemed like the best measures to decrease risks and keep everyone's health in check. It's a gym after all, so it should be a given that our health is a key aspect for gym culture. There's no hidden fees, no sign up costs, and no cancellation fees. It's a month-to-month payment. So give a single month a try and see if it's for you.

This is a small community gym in a super convenient Capitol Hill location, run by a terrific group of folks who really care about both the gym and the community aspect, and will go out of their way to make sure that you (yes... you!) feel welcomed and safe in the space. You’ll find a broad mix of folks, mostly younger, but all of whom are friendly, polite and welcoming. As they like to emphasize, it’s “not a bro gym”, but you have all the essential equipment to pretend it were — squat racks, olly platform, deadlift equipment. Everything you need, and nothing you don’t — they maximize the space! If you want a bit more serious lifting environment, but the same welcoming community feel, the Barbell Club around the corner is an excellent choice. As the name suggests, it’s more barbell-centric, but also has a good mix of Hammer Strength and other equipment, alongside dumbbells up to about 110 lb, so you can accomplish most powerlifting or Olympic routines. As a bonus, BBC has a ton of specialty barbells, including some strongman favorites. Overall, this is a great choice for folks who want a top notch gym that happens to be in the heart of Pike/pine. Yeah, there’s no parking, but you don’t really need it. Plus, the fees are straightforward and super reasonable, with no contracts or other Tomfoolery. Can’t go wrong!

Probably the best gym in Seattle, beating out Pro Club West in terms of price and having what the majority of people want in a gym (Pro Club has a lot of things I didn't utilize but still paid for). This is a large gym that has nearly everything you need in terms of resistance training. Many gyms in Seattle are small and class oriented but this is a good, regular (individual-oriented) gym that has two floors of equipment, a large area for sled pushing or farmer walks, deadlift platforms and pretty ample squat rack space and racks that can double as benching spots. The second floor contains additional squat and bench space and a number of machines. If all squat racks are full I usually find space upstairs. I've been going here about 9 months now and already have a number of "gym friends". Contrary to the "Seattle Freeze", everyone here is incredibly friendly, especially the trainers and the owner. If you're looking for a new gym definitely do a tour here and see what you think! For awareness, this is a very dog friendly gym. This is a plus for most people (please bring your cute puppers ) but if you're allergic, afraid of or dislike dogs, they might be a detriment for you.

I overall have a positive impression of the gym. Equipment - spread out over two floors in multiple rooms. There are multiple rogue squat racks, hammer strength leg press, inspire cable machine on first floor (among several things). The second floor contains a set of cybex machines (see site for full list) and additional racks. Dumbbells on both levels. Standard cardio mix of treadmills and other equipment. I have cardio at home, so I didn't notice this too well. Spacing - not crowded, ample space between equipment. Plates - both rogue bumpers and steel plates. Owner - very kind and responsive to emails when I was trying to learn about membership options, equipment present, etc. Location - central in the Pike / Pine corridor. Clients - respectful. I noticed none of the usual "gymbro" attitudes. In fact, when someone dropped weight stack and it slammed, I heard someone say "sorry" aloud. Members cleaned equipment before and after use. Bonus - locally owned business! Update to review on June 20, 2022. The owners continue to invest in the gym and the community! The second level has additional racks being setup and new leg machines!

As a person with limited gym experience and lots of gym anxiety, I can't recommend Rain City Fit enough! Folks are there to work out. I've never witnessed any competitive or showcasing behavior. Every interaction I've had has been friendly and polite. There's lots of space and multiple options for just about every exercise you could want to do. I predominantly focus on lifting, but I'm constantly happy with the weights and weight machines. Staff are generally present when I've been around. I typically shoot for "unpopular" hours like early afternoons, and during these times, I can always get my workout in without any problems. I've also frequented in early and late evenings - and it can get a little busy. But since there is so much space, and the upstairs extensions, it rarely feels crowded. The gym's philosophy is to make space to support female, trans, and queer folks who want to work out, and it feels super welcoming and supportive. And with extraordinarily competitive pricing, I can't imagine joining a different gym

  • Colin Howard

I was a member for about 1.5 years at Rain City, and I really enjoyed working out here. For people looking for free weights, I never had an issue finding a rack in the mornings or evenings, peak workout times might be a different story, however. There is all the equipment you are looking for, only with a limited options for cardio, which wasn't my focus anyway. The crowd is a refreshing mix of people that seem generally friendly. Membership has no BS, you can pay a fair month-to-month with no additional signup fee. Cancellation is not a fuss. Management has been very friendly and responsive. I would keep my membership if I was not moving across town. I am not a big reviewer, but Rain City deserves all 5 stars and then some. They are a model of how a gym should operate. Cannot recommend them enough.

  • Eric Clute

I love going to my gym! Definitely has a hole in the wall feel, and I really like that. I appreciate how welcoming/accommodating this gym is, and tries really hard not to be a bro gym. I think it succeeds. If I had to nitpick I'd say the gym does get pretty crowded in the afternoons which sometimes keeps me from completing my entire workout. I try to come at other times but sometimes that's not possible. Also, oftentimes the rags around the gym use for wiping down equipment get pretty gross. There have been multiple times where I wipe down the equipment I used, put the rag back, and now my hand smells like a gross combo of sweat and mold. Getting them switched out more frequently would be nice. Overall a great spot - would definitely recommend (although don't go when I go ).

This gym is located at a prime spot in Capitol Hill. It has a great community and it is committed to creating a safe space for queer people. They often have fundraising events where you can participate, meet people and feel part of a greater community. This said, the gym itself is very outdated and sometimes it feels like working out inside a storage or your parent’s garage. The mirrors are broken, the machines are falling apart, the heater is non existent, and the treadmills barely work. If you run on them, sometimes they stop and you lose your balance. This would all be okay if this wasn’t a gym with one of the highest monthly payments around the neighborhood, but like I said, you’re probably paying that much for the safe space, not the gym quality.

  • Breezy Charles

I have been going to this gym on and off since it opened. The space is well-equipped with pretty much any machine/tool/contraption you could possibly want. The community has grown into one that is inclusive, supportive, and truly cares about supporting its members, employees, and the neighborhood it resides in. Once they re-opened following Seattle's city-wide restrictions during COVID, they installed a system for reserving timeslots that made it easy to feel safe while still going in to workout. Overall, this is a great no-frills gym that is managing this 'post-COVID' era with grace, erring on the side of caution (as one does during a global pandemic,) all while providing a space that feels welcoming, progressive and non-judgmental.

I’m a beginner to the gym, so I was really intimidated, but Rain City Fit made starting such a great experience. Ben is super responsive and helpful via email, and signing up takes all of 5 minutes. When you walk in, there’s space to keep your bag and hang your jacket. It’s a deceptively large space, so there is plenty of room to stretch, do free weights, barbell, cardio, or anything else you need. I especially appreciated that there’s a “light barbell” section for those who are starting out and are intimidated by the other squat rack section. It’s clear that the whole gym was thoughtfully laid out and built. People are respectful throughout the gym. Overall, I’ve had a great experience!

  • Chris Allen

Another gym with zero regard for safety. There are dogs everywhere in this gym. I had a dog walk under me once when benching near my one rep max. That's about as dangerous as it can possibly get. Some people have a fear of dogs too, no regard for these people either. And those that are allergic. I hope the owner reads this and realizes the legal consequences they will face when an accident inevitably happens. In the mean time, I will stay vigilant and will just have to confront any dog owners putting my safety at risk. Edit: Ok, dog thing aside, this gym is the best gym I've ever been to. There's a crazy amount of free weight equipment. You rarely have to wait for anything to open up.

  • Sheridan Sargent

This is the best gym I have been a member of. It’s not that it has all the amenities of big box gyms with saunas and massage chairs, but that everyone is friendly and the gym is constantly improving. New spaces keep opening up in the gym and equipment is very spread out. There isn’t one main room where everyone is staring at each other, but instead multiple smaller rooms that each have a unique feel to them. As a woman I love that all the glute machines are kept together and in a room that feels more private. I have also never been made uncomfortable by another gym goer while working out here. The only thing I wish this gym had was more mirrors so I could see my form.

  • DeShawn Rosetti

Easily the best gym in the city. The equipment is amazing and the best I have ever used. There is a huge variety of machines, my favorite being the pendulum squat, so any workout you could possibly want to do is available. Plus, all of the equipment is kept in good shape and is smooth to use. It's culture is also outstanding. As a gym bro myself, I've found it easy to get sick of the macho culture that many gyms have. RCF is breath of fresh air as I can be a meathead without being surrounded by other unsavory aspects of stereotypical gym culture. Put that all together with a price that is unbeatable and being open 20 hours a day, RCF is a pretty great gym.

  • Monica

I was only a member here for about 2 weeks before COVID closed everything down, but I have to say I was really impressed overall. This is an immaculately-kept, locally owned gym in the heart of Capitol Hill. There are about 5 treadmills, a couple more ellipticals, and a variety of weight machines/free weights on the 1st floor. There is also a 2nd floor, but I didn't go up there. When I tried to cancel my membership, there was a problem getting it to go through and my card was inadvertently charged for another month, but the owner kindly refunded my money without any trouble. A real Seattle gem!

  • Robel Paguio

Overall a really solid gym; the value really is unbeatable. On most days, you’ll have no problem banging out a workout as there isn’t usually a lack of equipment. Best times to come are during lunch or past 8pm on weeknights. The only time it can be hard to find enough space or equipment is when group training sessions take up almost the entire front section of the first floor (turf, assault bikes, dumbbells, etc)—usually mornings. They’re accommodating and very nice, but it can make you feel like you’re “intruding” when you need to sneak by to grab things or find space on the turf.

  • Ranjan Lamichhane

This gym has a lot of weights, squat racks, and deadlift platforms and I really like the little rooms and upstairs area and the old building; it's really nice. However, there's a trickle of weird vibe here, like really political and something. I don't know what it is but it's just there and it makes me a little uncomfortable. This vibe is also probably responsible for lack of any mirrors whatsoever in the entire gym. I like mirrors in gym, it helps me improve my posture and it looks cool.

  • Alexander Olsen

TONS of equipment. It is a full 2 floors of gear and space. I really enjoy this place and it's versatility...it is like a strength gym, bodybuilding, machine style gym combined. Plenty of squat racks, tons of barbell variations (trap, swiss, log, safety-squat, fat grip, etc.), bumper plates, calibrated plates, a couple oly platforms, plenty of free weights. Some unique equipment from the Westside barbell line too. For price vs. versatility this gym cannot be beat in the Seattle area.

  • Adam Day

Excellent gym! Would highly recommend to anyone in Seattle or visiting. Great community and atmosphere - wonderful ownership, members, and trainers. They really go above and beyond catering to local community. There are absolutely no BS sign-up fees, pushing for sales, annual fees or anything else to worry about. You sign up online and a few minutes later you have a code to sign in. Great variety of equipment catering to both casual gym-goers and strength-athletes.

  • Kasey French

Love this gym. Not a fancy gym (like the major ones with classes, locker rooms, and saunas), but has absolutely every piece of equipment you might need for your workout, and plenty of it so you don’t have to work in. Best part: I love how inclusive it is! And everyone just does their own thing. And somehow, everyone ACTUALLY cleans up after themselves and puts things back where they go! No bros hitting on you or watching you work out. It’s great.

  • Sean Mulligan

This gym is wonderful. The staff are incredibly welcoming. Everyone is cool about masking, wiping stuff down, and keeping distance. The vibe is very mellow. I have yet to encounter anyone intimidating. In sum, I have 0 complaints about the facility - only good experiences. If you are reading this and wondering if you, a deconditioned weirdo, would fit in - friend - buddy - pal - we’re all weirdos here at Rain City. Come and let that flag fly.

  • Kenyon Williams

I like this place because it is a gym for the sake of being a gym. None of the pizzazz and frills that come with other gyms/clubs. There is a lot of space, lots of machines, dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, cardio equipment, etc. And the best part is people go there to workout. The lack of classes and the smaller changing areas makes it much more of a workout place than a social event. I normally go during the day between 9am and 3pm.

  • Lena Hemmer

I moved from out of state about 6 months ago and RCF has been such a rock for me! I hardly knew anyone in the area and RCF is how I created community here in a big new city. The owners are not just passionate about knowledgeable about fitness but about creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone who walks into the gym. Great equipment, thoughtful staff, and dogs!!!! (Seriously there are puppies like 1/2 the time I’m there ❤️).

  • Callan Berry

I've been a member of this gym for 3+ years, RCF is an incredibly welcoming environment, and not only the first place I felt comfortable working out, but excited about it! The staff is always happy to help (and excited about your strength journey!), the members always respectable and kind to one another, and the facilities varied and clean. It's a real community gym, and I can't imagine going to another in Seattle.

  • Alex Lockwood

Only was living in Seattle for a month but was lucky enough to have a buddy that told me about this spot. Probably the best gym I've ever been to. All the equipment you can think of and such an awesome vibe. When I moved I accidentally forgot to cancel my auto renew membership so I contacted Ben and he happily (and promptly) gave me a refund for my accidental payment. Can't recommend this place enough.

  • Yuki Peters

Best gym I've ever been to. I'm doing StrongLifts right now so the only equipment I really use is the power rack. Thankfully, Rain City has over ten of them. Gym has a very fun, young energy. Only $60 per month and no joiner's fee (unlike most gyms in Seattle)! Only cons are that they don’t have AC and the WiFi is pretty bad. Also, they allow dogs which kinda sucks for me since I’m allergic.

  • Steven Davis

Rain City Fit is the best gym there is! The gym is constantly advancing, empowering the community, and adjusting to better suit the members needs and safety. The hours are great, the price is fair, and the staff are amazing! Being a member at Rain city fit doesn’t feel like just another gym membership. It feels like you’re changing the world ☺️ (One small business at a time).

  • John Fulton

I've been a member at ProClub (east and west), Zum, AllStar, and 24 and this is the best gym I've been to in terms of members, owner and availability of equipment. It's great to have a safe place that is focused on fitness and community. If you are looking for all the frills, stocked locker rooms, steam rooms, rows of mirrors for selfies and day care...this gym isn't for you.

  • Y P

I’m sharing this after had gone to this gym for some time. I recently had to move to Spokane for grad school, and let me tell you how much I miss this gym compared to all the options here. Nothing compares. Once you leave RCF and go elsewhere, you’ll find that nothing lives up to the standard they leave you with. Capitol Hill is so lucky to have RCF.

  • Taylor Ryan Haby

I joined the gym (and sister-property Barbell Club) about a year ago, and I have zero regrets. The ownership team has made an amazing effort of creating a culture of inclusivity, working hard, and neighborlyness (is that a word?). The space is functional, and the price is well-below what they could charge given the location and quality of equipment.

  • Thomas Belford

They have everything you could want from a gym, especially after they increased the size back in August. The community is also great! It’s truly open to anyone, whether you’re just starting or have been lifting your entire life. I’m sad I have to move and find a new gym, but 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a Gym in the Capitol Hill area

  • Matias Czerwonko

This gym is absolutely great. It's perfectly located, cheap, clean, great equipment, open EVERY day of the year pretty much all day. The staff is friendly and on top of everything. Also, it's intentionally designed to avoid bro behavior which I love (almost no mirrors). I have recommended this place to pretty much everyone I know in cap hill

  • Juan Gonzalez

I travel for work sometimes which make commitments in a city tough. The gym itself is awesome and Ben (manager or owner) has always found a way to make it work for me. It would be more convenient to have a national gym I can use whenever I travel but it's the little things that keep me here. Thank you Ben & Rain city fit team!

  • Abbey O'Brien

This is the best gym I've ever been to! The staff is super friendly, there's always plenty of equipment/0 wait times for racks, the environment is very open and accepting, and when I moved away and had to cancel, they were super easygoing about it and made sure I wasn't charged for the next month. Would definitely recommend!

  • Michael M

Just started working out here 3 days ago. This is by far the best gym in downtown. I like here a lot. They would earn another star by adding maybe 5-6 body mirrors near lifting equipment. It really helps with getting form down. Unsure why this gym has just a single tiny square mirror. Regardless will continue to come.

  • Erik Irgens

Eclectic gym with the best vibes and people honestly. Everyone is super kind. Bring no hate here. The machines are all mismatched, and sometimes need maintenance, but they're very on top of things and you'll find everything you need - it might just be in one of many expansion rooms (and this is a positive thing)

  • Justin Ardoin

Usually no wait for equipment at any time of the day. Ben expands and adds stuff as his business grows. That's refreshing. A/C needs to be sorted upstairs but it's really only a problem a few hours a day for a few days a week. No miles of cardio equipment here. Its weights. Lots of them. Squat racks everywhere.

  • Andy Wooten

Travelling and finding a solid gym is often a challenge. If you are traveling to Seattle this is the place to lift. Ben made it super easy to get a day pass. The equipment is top notch. The gym has an awesome and inclusive vibe to it, and my favorite... the deadlift platforms are the best that I have ever used.

  • Orlando O'Neill

I love this gym. It’s my first time not going to a “globo-gym” and it will be hard to ever go back. Place has everything you need, and with the multiple floors and rooms, it’s much bigger than it seems. It’s never been too crowded. Folks are respectful of the pandemic precautions. What more could you want?

  • Garrett Michaud

Excellent variety of equipment. Super inclusive community and standards. Other members are respectful of personal space and cleanliness. Much better experience than places like 24Hour, LA Fitness, the Y, etc. Great value and only left since we are moving. The recent expansion did wonders. #gainz

  • Jason White

Don't go to this gym unless you want an oversensitive, snowflakey environment mixed in with a power tripping owner. Good equipment - BAD management. The Seattle Gym is 15 mins up the road, has more equipment, no reservation system, is less crowded, and has a MUCH more respectable owner.

  • Hollis Hamilton

Management being very careful with regards to covid safety. Much much better than other gyms in the area. Great selection of equipment. Things are always clean and well maintained. Very welcoming and inclusive environment. Love the single-occupant bathrooms / change rooms /shower rooms.

  • CHRISTIAN PEREZ

Worked out here for about a month or so. It was good. Got really crowded in the evening so I’d go right after work to beat the rush. No one ever really talked with others which is good in a way but I would’ve liked to talk to more people and possibly made friends while I was there.

  • Gus Orlando

This is the best powerlifting gym in Seattle. Ben the owner is an amazing owner. He really takes care of his members. Additionally, the equipment is all really high quality. You will find pretty much any equipment you need as a powerlifter/weightlifter. Awesome environment as well!

  • Angkana Huang

Did a one week pass here. Wouldn't have made it through the whole week of dense conference without this. Opens at 4am and stays open till late night, super helpful for jetlagged visitor like me. Everything is clean and ready to use. Felt very relaxed and safe working out in there.

  • Beck & Carlson Inc.

This place is great! The owners have asked everyone to wear masks and sanitize anything they come in contact with. I feel safe working out here. I know they have asked people who can't 'behave' to leave the gym, and I'm really thankful for that. Keep up the good work RCF!

  • nirav bulsara

Definitely one of the best gym in Seattle area. It is well planned and setup. They have done a very good use of the place. It is also very affordable. Quitting the gym is also very easy unlike other big gyms that make it cumbersome to quit. Very affordable for Seattle.

  • Tharun Adithya

Great gym with most of the equipment you'll ever need. The have sufficient squat racks and the expansion has made the space even better! Really had a great few months working out here. They do take care to ensure that the atmosphere always remains friendly and safe.

  • Noelle Trovela

The best value, multiple racks, benches, and deadlift platforms. Ben makes space for marginalized communities in his gym and for that I am so grateful. If you’re looking for a gym to get a great workout while feeling safe taking up space this is it.

  • Izzy Weber

I’ve been coming to this gym since it opened and it’s wonderful. Owner, managers, and general community is great. Lack of bro-dominant atmosphere is really refreshing. Everyone here is their own person and everyone else is cool with it. Thanks RCF!

  • Peter Baker

The gym is a wonderful addition to Seattle, with a welcoming community who expects the community to look after each other. Definitely not a soft place, unless you can’t follow the rules, but that’s more about you than the gym and their ownership.

  • jared halpin

A really solid gym, lots of space, machines, and weight racks. They also do a great job or trying to make gym goers of all types & experience feel welcome. It's a good space with a good atmosphere and a great price, I really fully recommend it.

  • Maxim Smith

Came here to watch a friend partake in a weight lifting competition and found the staff and owner of the gym to be extremely nice. If I didn’t live so far away I would have this as my main gym. Feels like a large community of accepting people.

  • Shawn G

I love this gym so much! It may look small from the outside but on the inside it’s massive. It has any piece of equipment you can think of and there are so many different rooms to workout in. I love how they go out of their way to make sure

  • Susan Palmer

If I had known that a gym could be this cool, I would have signed up years ago. :) The owner is approachable and very reasonable, and the vibe of the place is laid back and positive. What a great addition to the neighborhood!

  • Rena Bartlett

Best gym in Seattle by far! Great environment where everyone is welcome as soon as you walk in the door. Great work dealing with Covid and putting procedures into place so that everyone feels safe. 1000/10 would recommend.

  • Dustin Akers

Best gym around. Reasonable prices, plenty of equipment and great owner and staff. Community-focused, community-involved and very charitable. Has done amazing job keeping people safe and healthy with good COVID measures.

  • Andrew Stewart

Terrific gym and great community! I've never felt so comfortable at the gym. Very welcoming space for all kinds of people (except gym bros which is fine; they have all the other gyms). 10/10, would highly recommend!

  • Nate Rohenkohl

Loved this neighborhood gym and ownership. By far the most respectful gym environment I’ve been in all my years of working out, with a great community. If I didn’t move out of the immediate area, I’d still be here.

  • Drew Wingert

Really loved my experience here. The gym had the right amount of people — where you had some motivation with ppl working out around you but didn’t have to wait for most equipment. Great vibes in the gym as well.

  • Mint Teacups

I wrote on a board here once that I would like to see more of a tool prescribed to me for PT since they only had a couple at the time, and now they are all over the place (ankle straps for cable machine)

  • Jaryd Saevitzon

By far the best gym Ive ever been to for weightlifters. All the equipment you could ever want is there. The vibe is great. Several squat racks, platforms, ways to bench. Definitely check this place out!

  • Nina S

I have loved my time as a member of Rain City Fit. I’ve never felt more safe or accepted at a gym before. Everyone who works there and all of the members I’ve encountered are so nice and welcoming :)

  • Amber Shipley

Amazing gym. Lots of benches and squat racks, people actually clean and they have showers! (I had to wait awhile to use one but ‍♀️) I’ll be back next time I’m in the area …

  • Linda E

This gym has been such a great place to workout! There’s plenty of equipment and the owner takes covid precautions seriously, making it safe for everyone to exercise at the gym.

  • Bill Craven

By far the best gym in Seattle!!! Great selection of weights and weight equipment trainers and coaches are all very friendly. No bro’s allowed.
