The first night my friends and I had reservations on Thursday night early and had a great time! Eggplant Parmesan was fantastic and everyone was very happy! BUT... I returned on Sunday night at 6PM or so with another friend, and we were waiting for a couple of seats to open up at the bar and I said I would get us a couple of glasses of wine and be right back while she waited in the corner behind the hostess. I stood at the bar next to a nice older gentleman who was a regular, trying to get the attention of one of the 2 bartenders, but to no avail! I even told him how much I loved the place, as his drink was refreshed, but once again, I was ignored! After about 20 minutes, the lady finally asked for my order, 2 glasses of wine, which were by the glass, nothing special. She then proceeded to take care of a couple who were checking out and went to the kitchen and not getting my wine. When I saw her a few minutes later on the other side of the bar, I approached her and asked what happened to my order? She replied that she was trying to clear the bar for the next couple to be able to be seated. I then said to cancel the order because I was leaving. Then the hostess said that our seats were ready, as those seats were ours, to which she replied "OH THAT'S JUST GREAT"! And she said it VERY sarcastically! I didn't say anything. I just walked out. I knew it wasn't going to get any better from there! They have a small sign on the bar that says something about being polite or they'll refuse service! What about the other way around guys? I've was a bartender and waitress years ago and I know that no matter how busy you are, you are paid by the customer, and service is your business as well as your food! I left a $40 tip on the bill the first night. Ended up enjoying the night at JJ'S!

My fiancée & I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Ragazza & we will be adding it to a place we will return to. The staff was top notch & very friendly. A welcoming face goes a long way & it’s not easy to find that. Appetizers: Egg Plant Fries - 8/10 I’m a big fan of Egg Plant & the amount of parm & dipping sauces complimented everything so well. Risotto Ball - 5/10 I liked these, but I feel like there could be more done here. The presentation was great, but biting into the ball itself was disappointing. It wouldn’t have made a difference if there was plain white rice on the inside. I’ve had some incredible risotto & im sure they have some here as well, but I just got no flavor from what was on the inside. That being said, the red pepper sauce makes up for the lack of flavor, but I don’t think the arancini should rely on the sauce. Espresso Martini - You can skip. It was watery & not worth the price. Get some wine instead! Salads - Both were a big hit & I would come in just for the Caesar! The anchovies are a great touch. Sunday Sauce Every Day - 10/10 The sauce was exactly what I expected & more! The meatballs, sausage, & pork each had their own distinct flavor that really made this pasta special. The pork was so tender that it basically melts in your mouth. You get a WHOLE sausage. You can easily share this dish with someone & be satisfied. Cheesecake - 10/10 I’m not a big cheesecake person, but my coworker said he is & this is his #1 around…he was not wrong. The cheesecake itself is not overly sweet or tart. Its dense, but soft & not too thick. The salted caramel was insane. When you get a chunk of the salt your taste buds go wild. Save some room for this!!

3.5 if Google would allow .5 stars. I read an article in Feast magazine towards the end of last year about Ragazza. My wife and I are "foodies," so I have always kept it on my list. Like many good restaurants in the metro, getting to the restaurant run you through some unsavory parts of town. Parking is around the back and is limited to about ten spots tops. Luckily our reservation was at 8:30 pm the lot would have been full for sure. You can't miss the large size walking up from the street. The building is beautiful from the outside and well lit on the parking side. As you first walk into Ragazza, you are greeted by not only the friendly staff but color floor tiles in lovely patterns all over the floor. The entire restaurant has a warm and almost "date" feel about it. One whole side had a bench with pillows that hang on a metal rod and can be moved. The staff was helpful in my wife's question about pairing with her dinner, and the whiskey drinks I picked were very well mixed. Our evening started with what they called an antipasti plate. Charcuterie board Italian style to me :) It was exceptionally well thought out and had great flavor. I had the spaghetti and meatballs because I read that they were known for their meatballs, and I was very impressed with the tomato pasta sauce. My wife had the lasagna, and that is were our overall experience sort of went south. My wife loves pasta, and I typically and the one that does not give it a chance. However, this time her meal was just not acceptable. There was to much cheese and not enough sauce, and it left an odd aftertaste in your mouth. 75% of our meal was very good, however. None the less we plan to try Ragazza again to see if she might be able to find another meal that will be as good as mine.

My husband and I drove out of our way to eat at Ragazza’s for date night. Overall it was a fine dining experience once we finally made it into the establishment after searching for parking for nearly 20 minutes. We were seated at the bar which, being in the central hub of the restaurant, resulted in very noisy surroundings—we could only carry on a conversation by speaking loudly and within inches of each other. The lasagna bolognese I ordered was delicious—by far the best my husband or I have ever eaten. The spaghetti and meatballs my husband ordered was subpar and somewhat disappointing. Service was fine. I was disappointed they don’t do anything for birthdays, but fewer dining establishments cater to holidays and special events anymore anyways. Due to the lack of convenient parking and the sound volume within the restaurant we don’t see ourselves eating here again anytime soon. We have another Italian restaurant down the street we’ll probably choose first instead that offers a more intimate setting and ease of access.

My husband and I enjoyed an anniversary dinner at Ragazza's. The atmosphere was cozy and cheerful which in a big part was due to the staff... everyone was great from the maitre d' to the bantender to the waitress to those running food and picking up plates. We started with a Peroni and a Sparkle (limoncello (made in house) Prosecco, and soda) The food... the food was fabulous, fresh, and well balanced. We started with the Corn Bisque (5 stars) and the Beet Salad (skip- it was the only thing that wasn't FANTASTIC... though it was fine for a beet salad), and our entrees Chicken Piccata with Polenta and Shrimp and Italian Sausage Polenta. Fantastic!!! Delicious!! Scrumptios!! Dessert, too, was devine!! Flourless dark chocolate espresso cake with fresh crema and Limoncello Cake. Both were in my top 5 ever, but for the summer I'd stick with the Limoncello Cake. Ahhhhh... Ragazza, thank you for a memorable 5th year anniversary dinner. ❤

My husband and I ordered carry out after the hostess at our hotel had raved about this restaurant. The staff were pleasant and the atmosphere was great. I ordered the grilled lemon pork chop with au gratin potatoes and broccollini. My husband ordered the chicken piccata with the lemon butter sauce and linguine. The presentation was amazing. Unfortunately, my pork chop was very tough to cut and a large area of the center of the pork chop was pink, almost rare. I did try and eat some of the outer pork chop but it was tough and dry. Some type of sauce may have helped. The au gratin potatoes were the star of that dish. The chicken piccata was delicious but unfortunately the the sauce on the linguine tastes like it was soaked in white wine and the white wine was not cooked out and left a weird after taste. Will not eat there again. Waste of money.

I was in town for a day and a half and stayed at the nearby Marriott. I wanted to eat within walking distance to the hotel, and this restaurant fit the bill with great reviews. They sent me a text reminder after making a reservation online and were very flexible when my flight came in late. I was able to push back my reservation before 5 pm without issues. When I got to the restaurant after my short walk, friendly smiles greeted me. I was seated promptly and given a menu. After a long day, I wanted to eat something healthier after my fare of airport food. I ordered their swordfish with crispy potatoes. It was DELICIOUS. I am now back in Wisconsin and thinking about this dish. I look forward to coming back to KC to revisit and trying the rest if their menu. Highly recommend!

We have tried this place multiple times just to make sure how we felt, but this last time was extra disappointing. They don't have high chairs...why? This just makes no sense at all. There were multiple children and babies when we were there. They offered us a booster seat, but then regrettedly told us their ONE seat was already in use. Some of the pasta dishes are overpriced for what you get- we got the Sunday Sauce, and it literally only had 2 medium -sized meatballs for a $26 dish. Also, serving bread would be a nice touch as an Italian restaurant. Carbonara was delicious! Overall we won't be back because of the value and not accommodating kiddos.

My sister picked this place for our group to try. Was not disappointed! The service was fantastic! The food was incredible! Our group got the roasted goat cheese, caprese, and the fried eggplant to sample. The fried eggplant was wonderful! Pictured, was my entree, chicken picatta. This was delicious! Just wish there were some bread to soak up the sauce. The chicken being lightly battered was prefect! The lemon squeezed on top was the "cherry on top". For dessert we tried the cheesecake and chocolate cake. The Cheesecake was by far one of the best pieces of cheesecake I've ever had. My first drink was a limondrop which I was not personally a fan of. I ended up with a glass of saracco moscato which was like having another dessert! So good! Well definitely make a trip back here. The atmosphere is appealing as well! Love the decor.

Service and vibe was great. Loved the broccolini, eggplant chips, and caprese salad. My friend got the chicken piccata and it was o it of this world - 10/10 you must get. My husband got the eggplant parm and loved it. I got the cacio e Pepe which was just ok - if they were fresh noodles it would have been 10 times better. The cheesecake was excellent, but the pistachio cannolis were tiny and didn’t taste like pistachio. Overall, a wonderful meal.

We were recommended by our hotel next door to try this place. Food was superb and service was amazing. The restaurant was extremely busy but the staff was able to serve everyone and keep the food and drinks going. The restaurant was so busy we had to be seated at the bar. The restaurant was extremely beautiful and we had plenty to look at while waiting for our food. I tried the lemoncello shot and it had a nice sweet kick to it. Would definitely go back if we lived closer. You definitely know your eating at the right place when people are standing and waiting for your seat.

We came here on a whim and it turned out to be PHENOMENAL. Forget all the buzz about dining at the Plaza....place is literally just a few blocks from the plaza...and it's locally owned! Support Small Business!! Food was EXCELLENT, ENTIRE STAFF WAS ON POINT....as in, ENTIRE staff pitched in, not just our primary server. Owner was discreet and wouldn't have known owner was right there- she and Manager (Matt..??) were hands on, greeter every single customer. Chefs did a magnificent job on our food! A PERFECT HIDDEN GEM of Kansas City, very close to the Plaza.

Just visited Ragazza, an Italian gem, and I was completely blown away by the culinary excellence and impeccable wine selection. Their food is nothing short of a gastronomic delight, and the wines, each rich with nuanced flavor profiles, have been thoughtfully selected to complement the dishes. A standout for me was the KC strip steak, which was cooked to perfection. The chef's skill in Italian cooking really shone through in the nuanced flavors and tender texture of the steak. Paired with a bottle from their vast Italian wine selection, it was a match made in heaven.

This place has amazing reviews, however the food was quite plain. It just wasn’t good. I’m quite confused with all the positive reviews. The service was excellent. However, it is loud inside. We started with the roasted goat cheese. It tasted like marinara sauce, greasy toasted bread- I think they forgot the cheese. One shrimp dinner, the shrimp was burnt and tough. The chicken dinner in linguini tasted like plain butter and lemon juice. Time for dessert- finally something that was great. The tiramisu was really tasty and different. We liked this so much we ordered one to go. Well, it ended up being 30% smaller than the one we had on the table. Finally we just paid the bill and left.

This is the best homestyle Italian food in KC. We debate this with friends all the time, but please go here. Their eggplant parmigiana is the best in the city, maybe even that we’ve ever had. Amazing meatballs and their goat cheese and marina appetizer is fantastic. You have to make a reservation though, and good luck getting in with a larger party. That’s the only downside, but it’s because the location is small.

Food was about on par with most Italian restaurants. Not as good as some, or home made dishes, but a decent place to grab a bite, or to meet with someone. Atmosphere was very relaxed, and somewhat “hipster,” while the service was amazing compared to most places with a similar atmosphere. It’s actually what got them a 5-star from me.

Had an extremely enjoyable experience with Angela as our server and bartender!! She was honestly amazing and took such good care of my group, planning on coming back when she is working again! All of the appetizers and drinks were very filling and felt authentic and home made. Wonderful desserts as well. As someone who works in the industry, I will say the sound in the restaurant was overwhelming at time and there is a complete lack of sound dampening present. (My father is partially deaf and I wouldn’t feel comfortable taking him here)

I was in the mood for some homemade Italian Food and Ragazza definitely delivered. I ordered a drink, the grilled vegetable appetizer and the Sunday Sauce Everyday Entree. My drink and grilled vegetable appetizer were great, but the Sunday Sauce Everyday was the star of the show. The Sunday Sauce Everyday consist of a red and spicy pasta sauce that has been cooked for six hours, with loads of pork, sausage and meatballs. The sauce was unique and bold, if you enjoy red pasta sauce it’s a must have. My only dislike was the meatballs were a little dry. I still recommend this dish. This was my first visit to this restaurant and I would definitely dine there again.

Ordered anti pasta , cheese was molded, and hard. Couldn’t chew it. The bread/cracker was so dry and hard it broke into pieces in my lap. Was a rotten appetizer. !!!! The main dish lasagna, and egg plant weren’t bad , yet the plate it was served on was so small the food was running out onto the table. No one asked us how anything was .the red wine was just ok!! White wine was good. Had to stare down the waitress to get service. Was really excited to try this place out because of the raving reviews, but sadly I will not go back !!!

On a roadtrip from Chicago to KC staying at an Airbnb above Ragazza. We had an awesome experience! The managing bartender and started us off with their homemade Limoncello. OMG! Yum… Our order included Eggplant Parmesan Fries and Arancini appetizers. From the Entree menu we ordered Chicken Piccata, Sunday Sauce Everyday, and Shrimp & Italian Sausage over Polenta. And to finish it all off we had their homemade cannoli’s. Just wow! Whether you live in KC or stopping through you have to stop here! The restaurant is comfortable, elegant, and clean and the staff is very friendly.

Ragazza's is our favorite Italian restaurant in the Kansas City metro area. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is intimate. They have a great wine list, solid beer selection, and unique twists on traditional drinks. (I wish they used a little less salt, but I realize I'm an outlier on that.) I recommend their eggplant fries appetizer, their Italian sausage and artichoke soup, and any entree. As you can guess by my name, I grew up eating Italian food. After living in New York for years we moved to KC and visited the 'storied' restaurants in KC, but they no longer live up to the hype of their legend.

Was invited to a birthday party here so we had to check it out. For a romantic dinner, it is a great spot. Lighting was low and had candles at all the tables so a little dark for a larger party. Service was spot on and the food came out hot and fresh. Food was good quality but a little on the expensive side for the portion sizes. Worth checking out if you are looking for a great couples dinner spot.

Who goes to an Italian restaurant for pork chops?!? I do, that's who! By far the best pork chops I have ever eaten. Not only the quality but the quantity! Serving portion is out of this world! And don't sleep on the primo pasta dishes, the Bucatini (and meatballs) is so delicious! The charcuterie board on Happy Hour is AMAZING! And don't sleep on the simple tasty caprese salad. Laura (the owner) is so personable and friendly. Addi (bartender) and all the staff are very attentive and on top of their game! I'll definitely be back!

Beautiful little Italian restaurant. Service was fantastic!!!! Super quick with the wine refills :) The food was amazing!!! We had the meatball and grilled vegetables to start and they were both super good. Then for dinner we had the Sunday sauce, pesto shrimp and the calms. They were all fantastic dishes. The smells that came off each dish was incredible. The homemade lemoncello to start off was very nice. The wine list is full of wonderful choices. We will definitely be back the next time we are in KC. Cheers.

This is a great restaurant. I stumbled onto it while making many trips to St. Luke’s Hospital. We went there Sunday night and had a wonderful experience. What a nice place and such nice, friendly staff. The appetizers we had, meatballs and goat cheese, were both delicious. First visit and it was really good. They have a happy hour pretty much all day so we went with two appetizers from that menu, roasted goat cheese and sauce and a mini board antipasti. Both were delicious. For our main entrees we had the lasagna bolognese, Sunday allday sauce, and orrechetti with Italian sausage and kale. All of them were delicious. They have a good wine options and mixed drinks. The sicilian sunset we very good. Highly recommend for a good Italian night

Spacious and great place to hang out with friends and family while enjoying the vast variety of wine and cocktails, and at the same time savor the mouth watering and exquisite taste of Italian food. Everything in the menu tastes really good from appetizers, mains to desserts. It has a bar where you can just chill and mingle. The restaurant owner, bartenders and servers are really awesome. It gets really busy and crowded so preferably make a reservation. Restrooms are well maintained. It’s truly one of the best restaurants in the city.

We started with the Arancini 7/10⭐. We felt like they could have had a bit stronger cheese and more flavor. Lasagna was 8/10⭐ and very filling. The shrimp linguine 10/10 ⭐ and I would highly recommend getting this if you like seafood. The portion was smaller than other entrees we had/saw so if you're hungry be sure to add a salad or apps. Dessert was Tiramisu 7/10⭐ flavor was great but the texture was off from a traditional standpoint. Overall I would recommend this cute place. The vibe was 10/10 for sure!!!!

Not what I expected from the great reviews. Beautiful place, decor is gorgeous, great bar and perfect intimate lighting. Unfortunately my food was severely under cooked which is disappointing because I chose a basic Italian dish. It’s very very loud and with the tables being as large as they are it’s incredibly difficult to hear the person on the other side. Not somewhere I would come back to.

Finally made it out to Ragazza and really enjoyed! We had appetizers, cocktails, bread, dinner and dessert. We had a great server who really made us feel welcome and was excited to tell us all about the menu. Everything was quite tasty. The winner was the lasagna. The restaurant is very small. There is seating at the bar. Parking is street parking and is a struggle. Restrooms are gender neutral. The entrance is on ground level but not necessarily accessible.

Ragazza is hands down my favorite restaurant in KC. I have probably been 10 times in the last year and a half. I love the vibe, the cocktails, service, and obviously the food. They have gluten free pasta to pair with any of the entrees. Get the meatball - it is insane. We’ve also been for brunch and they have a DJ which is so fun. Check this place out, it will become your new fave!

I’d eaten here at the old location and been blown away, so maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but had a really average meal and overall experience here this time around. Pasta was good but nothing better than I cooked at home last week. Service was friendly but the pace of the meal was rather rushed. Spend a bit more and go to Lazia or Farina.

Delicious food, excellent service, and great ambiance. We had a party of 18. The staff was attentive, and we did not have to wait long for our drinks or food. The food was exquisite and consistent. We had numerous members of our party that planned on coming back. Reasonably priced for the food and experience.

Always perfect. Giovanni will never lead you wrong! Fried eggplant, Burrata, and Goat Cheese starters were on point. Dinner of Charcuterie, Cacio de Pepi, Piccata, Carbonara (the best my son says he has ever had), shrimp scampi, and Caesar salads all around. Finished the night with seasonal cheese selection topped with honey and pine nuts and chocolate mousse cake. Wine list is simple and solid. Service is wonderful! A gem for Kansas City for sure!

This is a hidden gem walking distance from the Marriott hotel where we were staying. Call ahead to make reservation. Small venue but big on personality. Staff was wonderful! Food and wine were exceptional.

Ragazza! Where to begin with this one and why this isn’t a 5 star restaurant is beyond me. First, the meatball appetizers were delicious. The wine was fantastic. The PORK CHOP and SWORDFISH were unbelievably FANTASTIC! Sides were just as amazing. Ben, our waiter, was extraordinary. My wife and I agree, Ragazza is the best restaurant we’ve ever eaten at. Thank you, thank you, and we will be back.

You will want to lick your plate clean. Arguably the best authentic Italian food in Kansas City. The service is fast and friendly, really makes you feel like you're dining in the living room of an Italian grandmother. The Sunday Sauce Everyday and the tiramisu are must haves. 2/3 people left still feeling very hungry, I feel bad.. Table ordered carbonara, spaghetti w/ meatballs, and kc strip. For the pasta, YOU WILL NEED 2 PORTIONS OF FOOD FOR AN AVERAGE ADULT ENTRÉE.. Overcooked steak, pink was almost nonexistent. Undercooked/very hard broccoli & potatoes imo. The butter was good? We all really wanted to like this place but agreed the flavor was extremely bland... and portions small for the price.

  • Robert

Carbonara was amazing, and the service we received was excellent. We will definitely return the next time we are in KC. I am pretty sure our servers name was Mia, and she provided the best service we had our entire week stay in the city.

Such a fun and lively place to enjoy a good Italian meal in KC! My wife and I went here for a date and it was a great spot. It’s a place that can be a romantic, formal spot, a casual date, or family meal. We loved our meal and service was great too. Highly recommend!

I enjoy coming here for the warm atmosphere and quality of food. The pork, lasagna, and carbonara are all fantastic. I thought more value could be provided with the Shrimp Linguine. I got that dish on my last visit and was disappointed in paying $22 for pasta, watery sauce, minimal vegetables and exactly 3 shrimp. I know Ragazza can do better.

  • Nour Berro

Officially one of my fav Italian restaurants in KC! I had their Bucatini all’Amatriciana and it was very exquisite. The tomato basil sauce was very fresh with a distinct garlic flavor. They have a great selection of drinks as well. I highly recommend this place!

Had dinner last night with some friends. I ordered the Orecchiette which was delicious and the carbonara was also amazing. Somebody ordered the eggplant parm and he loved it. Special shout-out to our server Addie. She was the best server we have ever had, I even hugged her before we left. Ragazza, please protect her at all cost. More

Ordered to go. Small portions, dry (seemed to be cheap and/or from freezer) chicken. Red sauce was tasty but I will not order or eat here again. I’ve worked in the service industry my whole life so I’m not just picky. I could make my $70+ order from home for under $30.

Literally my favorite and go-to spot for great food, great drinks, and awesome people. The staff is incredible, they always go out of their way to remember you and talk to you - but I think the real testament is that there are always awesome people eating and drinking there. It feels like a family every time!

i LOVE this place. The atmosphere is awesome and our server was so great and helpful when we were ordering. I got the Carbonara and it was so delicious. We also got the Burrata and Stuffed Mushrooms for appetizers and both were great! Everyone else in the group loved their food as well. Highly recommend! More

We come here at least once a month and we have never had a bad experience. The carbonara is always perfect and if you haven’t tried the Arancini it is a MUST. We’ve had Addie as our server a few times now and she is always so great and takes great care of us. Thanks for always being the best date night!
