--Lack of integrity. Very poor communication. Poor service-- Racecourse Automotive was a nightmare. They installed a new timing belt incorrectly causing my car to run roughly and judder. I returned the car twice but they refused to acknowledge their error. Pat said they were unable to fix the problem and didn’t even have the diagnostic tools. I had to take the car to another mechanic to resolve the issue. . Pat repeatedly denied that the work carried out at Racecourse Automotive had caused the problem, even though the issue only occurred after they worked on the car, and another mechanic verified that they had installed the timing belt incorrectly. I sought legal advice and, even though Racecourse was liable for the cost of repair, Pat refused to cover the cost. In the end, to save time on legal action, I offered to split the cost 50/50 which Pat agreed to. Even then, he wanted me to stay silent about my experience.

Pat and his crew are incredibly helpful and efficient. I had a flat battery in the area one day and Pat went out of his way to drive down and jump it! Then took it back to the shed and he had the battery replaced in under 20minutes. Absolute legend. Will not be going to any other mechanic. Have also had a service here once before and really appreciated the professionalism - reasonably priced and Pat explained all costs and repairs to me afterwards. Thanks so much Pat - I’ll be recommending you to everyone I know.

Had a RWC done, quote $165. Broke a wheel nut while checking the brakes that I had just had repaired. Charged for the wheel nut $27 which I understand but then charged $120 to replace it. Our RWC has run out, while ringing around to book another RWC to sell our car I have asked other operators about this in advance. They have said if racecourse auto broke a part I should not have paid for the repair. Customer beware. Total cost $311.80

To my horror i discovered a large puddle of oil under my diesel ute when working in Ascot Vale. I called Pat and explained, no worries he said i'm just about to head out for a road test and he would come past and see me. It’s hard to find a motor mechanic that you trust it’s a bit like finding a decent GP. I have used Racecourse a couple of times now after my local mechanic recommended them when he retired. I have found them to be honest, reliable and knowledgeable. I will continue to rely on them in the future.

Roadworthy done on the 13/2/18 did not check control arm on L/H/S (Volkswagen Polo). Not ideal for a young person to drive her first car. Had to pay a lot money to repair. Not recommended for roadworthy
