Poor and extremely complacent (~'If you think you have an issue with how we operate, I'm more than pleased to explain why you're wrong'). At 2:10 pm ET on a Friday, 4 out of 7 teller positions not staffed, leaving 11 people standing in line with minimum average wait time of 20-30 minutes (because ATMs are available for 'simple' transactions). Assistant manager (manager away) said other tellers away on lunch (ok, but are they taking lunch after 2pm when customers might assume lunch is over? And does this mean bank considers long waits for customers *now* are not a problem because when the tellers who are now absent return, the lineup times for other customers will *then* decrease?) Empty chairs available, but no take-a-number machine. Assistant manager said those in line can always sit down, - just tap on the shoulder of the person ahead to advise them of your plan to move out of line. (Seriously? That worked so well take-a-number machines were invented.) This branch used to be be well-managed; now it is practised in telling customers who want better service that this is as good as RBC can possibly be. That works out well for RBC and wastes the time of all of its customers: customers' time waiting effectively subsidizes lower staffing costs for the bank. Want better service? Try another branch! Or another bank altogether.
Absolutely the worst service I have had at any RBC bank. Not all branches are great, however, this one is pretty special. In particular the manager was called to assistant with the situation and she just brushed me off and wasn’t really trying to help. I’ve been banking with RBC for over 14 years. I wouldn't continue service with this bank, after the way I was treated. They are sneaky. And very inconsiderate when you are dealing with a crisis specially if you’re a part of a minority or black. On a different day, I was in the branch and overhead a representative ask a colored man how long he had been in Canada, many of us waiting to be served and standing at a distance, looked at each other absolutely appalled by the lack of discreetness.
If you are blue collar or Native, do not bother with this branch, you will be discriminated against. For months they have been cashing my CERB cheques, I have a card issued by Royal Bank for social services when the covid thing first hit. So I have a card issued by them, a CERB Government cheque and today, just before christmass, they refuse to cash it, they gave me the old " drivers license " needed... but if I had an account, all I would need is the card.... hmmm I have a card issued by your bank, which clearly identifies me, name and address same on card as cheque... I guess because they deal so much with Government workers in 3 piece suits... blue collar workers who built this city like me are not acceptable.

What a hostile business model, especially after generating a net income of $15.8 billion dollars in 2022 during a global pandemic. Would be better if a person could simply go back to being able to call the branch for support instead of being discouraged from doing so. Sad to see this is the direction things have gone logistically in terms of a corporate model.
Terrible phone service, representative didn’t have much information for me, and found out that the “Offers” your credit card may have starts the first day you get approved. NOT when your card is ready for pick up/delivered. My credit card which offered first 3 months with 4% cash back was delivered to the wrong province, mail shared will get a call once arrived, never got the call, been calling to get that rerouted but again, phone service was terrible - couldn’t get through, and there’s nothing they can do. Representative also suggested I filled in the wrong address. Thanks RBC.
This has to be the worst phone system I have ever had to use. There is no way to speak to a person and when working through the god awful robotic system, it doesn't recognize the phone number of the person I am trying to reach. I have called in to a number of other branches and has amazing experience, even the head office has wonderful phone systems in comparison. This branch is simply the most frustrating I have ever seen. Awful. Just awful.
Was in this morning, the teller was very nice and professional she did her best to accommodate my needs. Then teller tried to book an appointment with the Financial Advisor at the branch to apply for a master card for my business. Unfortunately, two of the Financial Advisors refused to meet and gave 1800 number to call and apply for the credit card!!!
One of best and student friendly banks in Ottawa, the representatives are very friendly with a sense of humor, they keep in touch with you even after you have finished opening your account with them. Highly recommended to students as they offer uninsured credit cards and also you get 5 Free online intrac transfers per month on your student account.
Their idea of selling travel insurance to me is to have a chat with other staff in the middle of my consultation with the teller in regards to someone on staff leaving for a trip. Furthermore they could not help me whatsoever and even the manager was at a loss. I wouldn't risk going here again...
how could service be bad?? it would be the lineup,,,so complain about OVERPOPULATION!!!!!!!!! THE BANK IS GREAT AND THEY KEEP YOUR MONEY SAFE!!! IF people would distribute themselves properly on EARTH ,,,this would NOT be a problem!!!! have a lovely day
Don’t waste your time, just joined as a new customer and the manager couldn’t even assist in having my account unblock where I have all my bills and pay coming into the account. It’s best to go with another branch or bank ingeneral.
Polite and professional staff However hours state they close at 5 pm and when I went there at 3:30 it was closed with no sign for explanation why. Please work on updating your website
