Buyer BEWARE… Although Public Storage is well known, they LACK Customer service on every level. From the manager at 19215 N Cave Creek Rd 85024 location, to the District Manager Robert Mayer, to the Supervisor for Customer Support in the Corporate Offices. When I was moving my things into the storage the manager kept closing and locking the office doors and leaving the site during business hours - for hours at a time. This made it very inconvenient for me to get my things up the elevator without a trolley, also when they left the office when I was able to get a trolley I would have to wait 30 to 60 minutes, for both of the office staff to come back and open the office, so that I could return the trolley and go get another load. My first 2 months I paid in advance and the 3rd month I changed banks and had the Bill Pay set up, by the credit union, to pay BEFORE the due date on the first of the month. The first Bill Pay when through fine, but the second one was not set up correctly for the reoccurring payment. I received an email from Public Storage after the 6-day GRACE Period was over letting me know that they charged me a late fee of over $25 and my bill needed to be paid. I paid the normal amount due as soon as I received the notice and I called the manager of the Cave Creek location and explained what had happened and asked for the courtesy of her waiving the late fee and she let me know that they probably wouldn’t do that, but that she would put in an “issue ticket” that would go up the ladder to the District Manager Robert Mayer. I called and left a message for Robert Mayer explaining the situation and then another message the following day with no response. The site manager said that he denied my request and when I explained that I have had a bad experience with their company and this was like another nail in the coffin so to speak she just made more excuses. I brought up the fact that they could sent out a courtesy email prior to the end of the grace period just as easily as they sent out the late fee email and all three of the managers (site, district and corporate) seemed to be trained to say the same script, “we have way too many customers to be able to have the time to do send out all those emails.” I refuted their scripted rebuttal saying, “with technology being as advanced as it is, you don’t have to do anything but set up an algorithm once and the computer system does the work without you.” Days later I finally get a call from the district manager with the same excuses as the others I had spoken to only he added that they wouldn’t waive the late fee because I didn’t have enough payment history. I explained that he could see that I had paid in advance of the due date prior to this and that 4 months is enough to make a one-time exception. I explained that I have had a bad experience with this company and the lack of customer care and I would be giving them a bad review and thanked him for finally at least calling me back and said goodbye.

See UPDATE at bottom: Started at 5-Stars but dropped to 2.5-Stars Getting a storage unit is all about doing your homework, reading the fine print and listening to the customer service / front desk representative (Nikki at this location). This facility is in a safe area, it's secure and very clean. Nikki was very nice and informative. She made the process quick and easy. They have carts on site to help you move your stuff but can only be obtained during business hours (note: "Storage hours" are approx. 6:00am to 9:00pm where as "Business hours" are something like 9:00am - 6:00pm - Don't quote me on the hours as I'm going off memory.) To get the best deals, plan ahead. If you are making a last-second rental, you might not get the best price (but if your time is good, you may!). This is the case at any storage facility as they base pricing on occupancy level. I rented a large unit (10x15) at Public Storage at the same price my daughter rented a small unit (10x5) at U-Haul. Needless to say, she'll be moving to Public Storage and saving herself $57/month! Things to know: 1. You need to have a disk lock. You can purchase them there ($19) or elsewhere. Bring it with you. If you don't, they will put one of there's on the unit until you bring yours. But remember if they put their lock on your unit because you didn't bring yours with you, you'll need to go back during business hours when someone is working to switch out the locks. 2. You are required to have insurance. Most homeowners insurance cover a percentage (10%) of your personal belongings away from your home or business. You will need to bring proof of your insurance. Your insurance company should be willing to quickly draft you a letter. If you don't have H.O. Insurance, then you'll need to purchase some at a minimal coverage of $3,000. If you get it there, it's $11/month. ($4,000 for $13/month and $5,000 for $15/month). This of course will add to your monthly cost. I hope this has been helpful. UPDATE: After getting my storage facility and convincing my daughter to move to this facility and get a unit also, we experienced a rate hike of +23% only after three months of moving in. I can understand rate hikes overtime but this quick and this much was ridiculous. Took it all away to the division manager (never got back with me (Ryan Lazio) and corporate and got the typical, "we can't do anything." (Really, you're corporate and you can't do anything? LOL GET REAL!) Fortunately, my daughter no longer needed the storage unit and quickly left. After pushing through the year, I'm leaving this month because it is just not worth it. They had my business but quickly lost it. Oh, and I just looked and found units at the same place LOWER than what I'm paying... Bate and Switch! Sad...

I'm not sure why there's such a drastic difference between the reviews on Google vs. Yelp! -- Google reviewers praise the customer service at this location, in contrast to Yelp reviewers who only voice pure dissatisfaction. I wish I would have paid more attention to Yelp reviewers before I decided to rent a unit here. I started renting a storage unit here in mid-December 2015, and ever since then there's been nothing stable about the monthly rate. I'm confident I signed a lease with them with the purpose of coming to a mutual understanding of how much this would cost me a month. But that wasn't so. ** For starters, I initially provided my email address to sign up for electronic notification of my monthly invoice: The 1st invoice I received was on 01/12/2016 -- the 2nd invoice EVER received was on 06/12/2016! The 1st invoice was fine, it told me how much was due on Feb 1st = $83.85. Perfect, that's how much I expected. Now, I can only suppose I didn't get an invoice for the following months because the price already changed for March, now my total was $84.06. April and May same thing. So I'm told my price for the unit would be $71.00 a month, the rest is rent tax (variable) and rent insurance ($11.00), which added up to $83.85. Now, how that went up to $84.06 by March, I was never informed by them, because I never got an invoice (shady) --- But I let it go and chucked it up to operational costs, which I can understand. When I did receive my 2nd invoice EVER, on 6/12/16, it was for the amount due on July 1st. = $97.44 ... Really?? ** How did my Monthly Total go from $83.85 (January) to $84.06 (March), to $97.44 in July?? So here is the breakdown: Remember how they got me in the door by establishing that my monthly rent would be $71? Well, it went up (without notice) to $84. So this is what it looks like in the period of 6 months: **JANUARY** Monthly Rent $71.00 Discount $0 Rent Tax $1.85 Insurance $11.00 _____________________ Monthly Total $83.85 **JULY** Monthly Rent $84.00 Discount $0 Rent Tax $2.44 Insurance $11.00 ________________________ Monthly Total $97.44 Do you want to talk about suspicious? This business right here (Public Storage) is king of shady if going by their misleading advertisement and billing practices. Per their website, Public Storage states the following: "Some important notifications are standard. For example, we will always notify you if your account details change." -- Yeah, right.... They never (EVER!) notified me that my monthly bill was increasing by over $14 from what I initially agreed.

This is the second storage facility we’ve used in Phoenix and did not have a good experience. I could not wait to stop doing business with them. Our move in was uncoordinated even though we had called and let them know we were on our way. We arrived and waited for 30 minutes for them to get the key for their lock on our empty unit. There is an intercom system to call to the front office but it didn’t work well so it was a lot of walking back and forth. Once we finally got going with our movers, several people showed up to move things in and out and tied up the elevator. So while they’re moving play sets out on their own with their kids in tow, our paid movers had to sit around and wait. We signed up for autopay but it didn’t go into effect and they charged me a late fee. When I called the office (which you have to call several times because they never pick up) they couldn’t do anything. I had to call corporate and leave at least two messages for the late fees. They didn’t even call back, the refund just showed up. Six months in, they upped our rent by 30%. We were paying $109 for our 10x10 and then it went up to $139. Called to discuss and she told me that after 6 months they check rates and adjusts and for some people it’s only 10-20% but she’s seen it as high as 65%!?! And the last fun part is when you move out, there is no proration. The absolute soonest we could move out was the 2nd of the month so we had to pay $139 for those two days. I will NEVER rent from Public Storage again.

I rented 2 storage units when I moved from out of state. I was there 2 months and I brought movers to move me out and realized my keys didn’t work on one of the units (public storage lock). When I asked the office they said I could wait for the regional manager, maybe that afternoon to help open it or call a locksmith. I was paying the movers by the hour so I had to pay for a locksmith to come out as an emergency. Once my unit was opened, I determined it had been vandalized and it had not been my lock on my unit. When I reported it at the front office they said I can file a police report and file a claim with my insurance and that was it. They would supply any video or information only to the police. Very disappointed that their business had a robbery and they didn’t even care to note it. Either robberies happen very frequently there or they are a business that only wants your money and could care less about you as a customer. All around- I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I have used PS off and on for over 10 years and have never had any issues. I'm in the process of moving and decided to go with PS again. I booked online and it was effortless and fairly quick. I checked in and spoke to Tony who was really courteous and prompt. I wasn't going to move my belongings that very same day so I got my storage unit and came back a few days later. Much to my surprise, in order to use their carts, they require you to give them your drivers license and the carts can only be used during business hours. When I asked how customers are supposed to move their belongings after business hours, I was told they would have to figure it out because people were stealing their carts and they cost $500 each. The manager then quickly said that they provide the carts as a courtesy and they didn't have to do it. That's not acceptable to me, I will choose another storage facility the next time. Thats not good customer service to me.

The last few payments I've made, I've had to leave my payment in the box outside. And it never fails that they call saying we didn't pay. Each time this happens, I've had to mention "Did you check the box outside?". They say no but place me on a hold and walk out and check and guess what, THEY FOUND IT!! If I constantly have to tell you to walk outside and check the box, what are you doing on your shift??? I'm disgusted that you have the nerve to say your going to check the camera to confirm we actually left our payment in the box. When you do see that we dropped it off in the box, I hope there is a change made in the way you do your daily operations because this is uncalled for. Please be more aware of payments placed in the box before you decide to call me again saying we didn't pay when we actually did!

Excellent, easy online reservation system, which allows for easy initial check in. I walked in the office to hear a very disrespectful customer talk to the ladies like they were trash. Nikki & her trainee held their professionalism way past what this professional would have. It was very disturbing listening to someone talk like that. As the woman left, I told her how disgusting it was to listen to another human talk like that...she was mad over a returned check fee. Oh my. Those employees had to listen to all that because she bounced her payment!!! I wish I wasn’t so old cause I wanted to punch her! Kudos to the outstanding professionalism of Nikki and new gal. Truly unbelievable how Nikki kept her cool and even a smile, always treating the customer with the utmost respect. Unbelievable!!

After a long day of moving and hauling, we got to Public Storage and were greeted by Jessica. She was awesome. She explained everything very well, answered all of my questions perfectly and with great detail, and offered us all of the services to help us with moving all of our stuff into the storage unit. I would recommend this particular Public Storage just so that people would have the chance to be able to meet her and allow her to help them understand the facility properly. The facility itself seems very safe and secure and we were greeted by many friendly movers. We even had some other people offer to help finish our move after they could tell that we were very exhausted from the move. Great experience all around.

This day, Sunday July 12, 2015 I had the most delightful and rewarding customer service experience of my life. I was in a major snit about my difficulties logging in, paying, my unit, the location of my unit, size of my unit, world conditions, my job, and so much more. Essentially, I was on a roll to "not" be happy about anything. Then . . . . . Something magical happened. I spoke to Rene the Customer Service Representative for this location. She stuck with me as I whined, Rene made sure I was satisfied, answered all of my questions and concerns and put me at ease. I paid my bill and felt really good, all due to Rene's superb handling of an unhappy customer. She is a jewel in the Crown of Public Storage. Treasure her.

Your employee kody, I believe for my understanding he floats as well, well he covered the Cave Creek and Union Hills store the day that I got my storage space and he was really helpful because I had a family member that was in Laughlin Nevada that was trying to setup for payments so she was having trouble getting online and getting dad filled out so we could rent a space, and kody walk my mother through the process to get the app filled out so she can rent a space. Kody is professional, very polite, very informative, and he may feel very comfortable it was easy to go ahead and feel that my stuff was safe at that facility it feel comfortable renting a space. Think very much public Storage and thank you very much kody

When I first moved into this storage unit everything was fine, the location is nice and the space was very clean. I had my stuff there for a little over 1 month and when I brought it home there was evidence that rodents had been in the boxes. I had small teeth prints in my belongings with fur everywhere and my bags were ripped open. I filed a claim with the insurance company and they told me to notify the worker at the location. I notified the worker and she absolutely did not care and it was as if it was nothing new. I am writing this review so people can be aware and be carful because when you bring your belongings home you never know what rodents you can be bringing home with you.

helped a very good friend move her things out of storage. apparently there was a flood a few years back while my friend was out of state, public storage had moved her things to a different unit after the flood. a little later after the flood she got a call from public storage saying that her unit had been broken into and some of her contents had been stolen. again not long after public storage had moved her contents to a different unit.... she did fill out a police report but for some reason the only cameras (outside only) were somehow not working at the time. most likely an inside job from your friendly public storage people. I would stay away from this place.

Just rented a 5x10 ft unit online. When I got to the unit it was 3.5 x 10 ft. When I brought attention regarding this to the workers there, I was told the sizes are “approximate”. Right just like how I’m approximately 7 ft tall (hint: I’m not). When asked for a different unit that would be more reflective of the size advertised I was told there’s a unit upstairs for $20 more a month, a whopping 50% more per month than what I had agreed to rent the other unit for. Classic bait and switch. Bring a tape measure if you plan to rent from here. Edit: just tried to ask for a full refund and they wouldn’t give me the full refund. This is a complete scam...

I zipped in last minute to rent a unit for some marketing supplies. Shirley was really the best. She knew what she was doing, she extended special offers to me and we breezed thru the paperwork. All and all it was a fantastic experience. The place is spotless and I felt very comfortable using it. Shirley even called me to inform me my lock was not on properly. She warned me that the locks are tricky. She followed up and that makes me feel the items are safe and sound. The price was great, the service was fantastic and the place is clean inside and out!! This was a great experience. I am Glad Shirley was there on that day!!

Without the details, I had a situation with my unit that was "on me" but none-the-less created some difficult issues for Public Storage. I found myself needing an advocate to help me sort things out, in comes Rosie. She listened kindly and worked with me and her district manager David to get everything resolved. This took multiple phone calls and emails. I'm very grateful that they understood and did every thing they could - which was a lot. You can rent storage from many companies, but you can't be sure to find people working there who care and will go the extra mile. Thanks so much Rosie and David! James

I flew in from another state to get my things I had stored there for 2 yrs, was fully paid up, never late o a payment...but yet when I called saying I was coming to get my stuff the next day....since I had lost my key, it was going to take a district manager 24hr to 2 weeks to take the lock off or get a locksmith to unlock the door. Needless to say I had to get a locksmith, the district manager couldn't do it yet. Once the lock was off, allot of my things were wrecked, dirty. I don't recommend this place at all. The locksmith was told he couldn't use the storage sheds electricity to run his drill.

Rented a space here for almost a year and found out a giant leaking pipe damaged property. Was told on signing that the pipe was a non-issue, employee skipped past lease agreement contract to signature box citing it as standard stuff when it provides a lot of protections to Public Storage and very little recourse to a unknowing storage renter. Prepared for legal action against the company for this, falsely advertising and intentional reckless neglect that could have been easily avoided. Renter beware, "climate controlled" but your belongings may end up drenched in water... Hmm.

Val (Valerie) was extremely helpful to me and my husband. We had to downgrade unit size and she helped us find an open and affordable unit near where our current one was. She was very friendly, positive, and displayed amazing customer service! 12/5/22 Update: I noticed we had a charge on our account that was past due for when we transferred units. We walked into the office and talked to Debbie who was super sweet and helpful. She helped us figure out it wad a system glitch and they we didn't need to worry about it. Seriously the staff here are always amazing and super helpful.

This review is based off our stellar experience at public storage number 25785. Laurie was welcoming and helpful as soon as we came in the front door! She helped us get set up with our second unit at this location and worked with our needs for size of unit. She exceeded our expectations and was abundantly helpful! We will definitely use/recommend this public storage location in the future thanks to our assistance today. The building is also clean and well kept. The employees are friendly and helpful and there are promotions to be had at different times of the year.

Would like to say that the three different locations my friend and I went to all had employees that were were very nice and helpful. The first was Desert Cove and Brian was helpful and very talkative. Then we went to Paradise lane and met Vida who called around for us because she did not have roll up doors which we needed. She sent us to Cave Creak where we met Lynn who was also super nice and helpful. Each were trying to get us the best rate and accommodate our needs even if we didn't rent at their facility, thank you for your exceptional customer service!

My wife and I visited this location on December 8 to inquire about a storage unit. We came in just asked a few questions and the sales associate name was Jeremy. He was very knowledgeable and very patient and answered all of our questions and even showed us the units. His knowledge and expertise guided us in the correct direction and we ended up leaving with two units at this location. I would highly recommend bringing your business to public storage and Cave Creek Road it is clean well lit and protected. They will have my business for now on.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I made an online reservation and received a confirmation via email. I also received a call from the manager to confirm. I was also advised that I needed to hurry and come in to sign the lease as there was only one unit left. I went in the following morning and "their computer" made an error. They did not have the unit I requested after all. Horrible customer service... They could have and should have offered the next size unit for the same price... I went elsewhere and SOOOO glad I did....

The staff and facility are awesome. One particular lady always helped us and she got so used to us coming she had a cart ready for us. No matter what questions I had she always able to answer.She even made it convienant for me when I had to move from a 10 x 10 to a 5 x 5. Made everything so easy to transfer. She even took the time to conversate with my 3 year old. In the future if we ever need storage again. This is where we will be going. Thanks again for the awesome service and friendly employees. Much appreciated!!

Not a safe place to store your stuff!! Other than owning the building this company does absolutely nothing to keep your stored stuff safe. My unit was broken into and the lock mysteriously vanished and they were not able to tell me what day or even what week the lock was last accounted for, they made no mention of video to look over to find who might've entered my unit or tampered with my lock. I could've kept my stuff in a friend's backyard and still have all my stuff.

I came upon some tough times and was in a hard spot. Nikki came to my rescue and was able to help me when I thought all other options were exhausted. She was courteous and kind, allowing me to relieve my stress. She answered all my questions and assisted me in securing all my belongings. Love this location and Public Storage. Air conditioned units in Arizona is a must, not to mention a high end security system to give me piece of mind that my items are secured and in a temperature controlled environment. I have two units at this location and really enjoy the ease in getting in and out, availability of a friendly, professional, and courteous staff as well as the proximity to the 101 freeway. Dollar for dollar the best value for your buck!

I’ve never had a better experience with customer service than with Debbie! She was friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we had and knew everything we needed before we left. She was training someone (I forgot her name, I apologize!) but she was equally as kind and helpful and you could tell she had the same enthusiasm and work ethic as Debbie. It was a fast and easy transaction, I wish more businesses had managers with Debbie’s attitude!

I made arrangements to finalize a rental online and received great customer service. When completing my rental agreement there was an issue and the person who was working with me, Kelly was really helpful and made sure to figure out the issues in a timely manner. The prices for a climate controlled unit are also exceptional with a good level of security. I would highly recommend using this facility in the North Phoenix area.

I have used several other storage units and this Public Storage on Cave Creek Rd. is well constructed & easily accessible. It is easy in and out of the building driving, has clean bathrooms and courteous staff. Most particularly, I was helped by Samantha recently who assisted in answering questions promptly with politeness and great customer service. I would recommend this facility to anyone seeking storage space. Thanks!

Not sure they actually keep the storage at the 80.5°F like we were initially were told it's kept at all the time. But other than vandalizing our lock with their sticker. Which was bought from them so it would have a sticker otherwise. Well thinking about it now I'm dropping it to 2 stars. Also rarely are the karts where they should be. They lock them up in the office for what reason IDK besides not to let anyone use them.

DO NOT RENT HERE!! My storage unit got broken into. See the last picture posted on their photos. The pedestrian gate is constantly open, the vehicle gates are constantly being rammed (starting to think it's not by accident). Management had no care about the break-in, then lied and said they fixed my lock when I did. Again, rent at your own risk, your stuff will most likely go missing!!!

Just got my air-cond storage unit. Shirley was super! She was pleasant, great with getting me signed up and showing me the property. The property is clean, secure with convenient hours. I got a special on the bigger size so it worked out great for what I needed. I like that you can make changes to your account and pay online. I think this is going to work out really well.

I just finished leasing my unit for the last 3 months and from start to finish, excellent service all the way through! Nikki was beyond helpful and explained the whole process to me and went above and beyond for me. The location is clean and well lit at night and they lend you flatbeds during office hours. I highly recommend this storage unit and great customer service!

This place has gone down hill, now you cant use there dolly s only if there open. What a joke being there not in the office after 5 or6 so if you work like most of us do, your pretty much screwed. Dont no if its the manager or not. If it is I would send him to somw classes on coustomer service and retaining a customer. I give them a 3 and should be a neg. 3.

I reserved a unit on line. I got there I didn't like the unit I reserved. I left the property, after seeing another unit. Dave gave me info for another location that may have the one I wanted. The next day Dave called asked if the other property was going to work. I said that I decided to go back and find a unit that would work. Thanks for your help Dave.

I am old enough to know how harsh a storage can be, bit the big one a couple times & that reality of losing everything is tuff to shake. Shirley is great and her place is new and clean, she is on top of her game always helping with a smile and rather impressive. DO NOT STORE HERE! They should rename this place PUBLIC ACCESS. Multiple units robbed within a couple months. If you need to go shopping here it is easily done. Security is non existent the units don’t have any alarms. People tailgating in make for easy access. DO NOT STORE HERE!! If you value anything. The insurance is a joke. NOTHING HERE IS SECURE.

The doors don't work well and tend to get stuck, then you go to find the guy at the front desk and he's not there, he's showing a unit to a potential customer. So you wait 15min for the guy to come back and fix the door.... Also there have been break-in's and theft here so make sure you get insurance. All in all for the price you get what you pay for.

I was given one price by customer service but when I got to the facility it was SO much higher. I met Kelly and believe me she jumped thru several hoops to help me out & get what I was told by customer service. Dave was awesome and still took the time to be thorough with us. I recommended them already to friends and family that will be needing them in the near future. I was disappointed to find that even though there is a giant vinyl poster on the window AT THIS LOCATION that says 1st month $1... when you ask to rent a unit, they say they haven't had that promo available in months and cannot offer any $1 first month deals. False advertising at its finest, a total sham. Take down the poster, thank you.

Nikki was extremely helpful, informative, and focused on our storage needs rather than tricking us with false advertised prices that other storage unit companies exhibit. I love the temperature controlled units since we are going to be experiencing high degree weather. Don't go anywhere else but here for your storage needs.
