I went to provincial court to dispute a traffic related ticket. If your going there for the first time here is what to expect. In the court room, they are going to give you an explanation of the process. The police officer will go up first and tell his side of the story. You will also have a chance to go up and tell your version, and can ask the officer questions related to his statements. The judge will then make a decision. Here is my impression: The judge will heavily side with the police officer. Around 90% of the facts used by the judge will come from the police officers testimony. Your version of events will pretty much be ignored. They will however use anything in your statement against you, and manipulate your words to strengthen the police officers position. Here is my suggestion: During the police officers testimony, you should take very careful notes of every point the officer makes. Around 1/2 of the statements the officer made in my case was in-accurate or was manipulated to give the judge a different version of what happened during the event. If/ when you go up to make a statement, i would not bother saying anything as it will only hurt your case. What you should probably do is spend the time to question EVERY detail of the officers statement looking for inaccuracies or trying to raise doubt. I would suggest taking pictures of the location where the incident took place, and trying to get as much material and evidence to contradict the officers statements. Also, never talk to the police officer during the indecent or give them any information. What happened in my case is that the judge used details the officer provided to find my guilty. Those details were however manipulated by the judge to fit the officers testimony, even though they were completely false. You do not get an opportunity to question the findings or ask more questions after the judge presents the findings. Overall, i did find it a fun experience even though i had to pay a fine. The officer was nice, and so was the judge. I also did learn more about the court system. Next time i will be better prepared! REMEMBER: You are presumed Guilty, anything you say or do will be used to strengthen that point!

Staff at registry were absolutely horrible. I had a few questions on how to serve my ex. I’m new to this and a bit overwhelmed. I was made to feel stupid and was treated like a peice of garbage. Absolutely zero costumer service and mean women! The Asian guy is really nice but the 2 women are very unwelcoming and unapproachable. Overall had a very bad experience here!! I have no idea how these women have jobs in costumer service dealing with people going through traumatic events.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with the staff at the Robson Square Provincial Court and was impressed by the friendly and professional staff, particularly the clerks. They were knowledgeable, helpful and made the process of filing paperwork and getting assistance easy. Their patience and understanding were greatly appreciated, and I could tell they truly cared about providing excellent service. Thank you to the clerks for your hard work and dedication!

As a public place you should do better! We had someone in front of us who was communicating through sign language. The reaction of the staff behind the counter was semi annoyed in a kinda "why is this happening to me" manner. You would think as a public place and a courthouse nonetheless they would have someone to assist in these situations to guarantee appropriate access for people with disabilities, but nope.

Well now I understand why people dislike cops. Good luck to anyone disputing a ticket. Cops will lie under oath and "remember" things that benefit them and judges are in bed with the vpd + won't consider your testimony or evidence. Watch out for more "experienced" cops because they're much better at cheating the system. Unfortunate way to lose faith in the justice system. People working here are nice though.

Located in downtown where parking is pretty expensive, it would have been great if the complex had its own parking facility. The environment is okay. I had reached half an hour before the hearing and there was absolute silence and no soul around. The court proceeding though were punctual and it was smooth. So , good experience with the BC judicial system.

Came here to file a small claim and the staff was so lovely and helpful. I was nervous going in as all the legal jargon can be really confusing and overwhelming but the people behind the desk were so patient and gave me clear direction on how to proceed with this. Beautiful architectural designed building in the downtown core which is worth a visit (if not to sit in on a court case). Onsite restaurant and parking garage. Very accessible by transit. #letsguide

Really difficult to find the right person to talk to and where to go. Better signage and more helpful staff would be an easy win. Please, try a little harder?

The reason to go to the courthouse is usually not good. That said, the staff are very helpful and pleasant. P

I have to take a day off work to drive to Vancouver just to ask a few questions. Noone answers the phone.

Hopeless, no one ever answers a phone. I was led from one menu to another , never could contact anyone
