I recently visited this place and I must say, the experience was nothing short of enchanting. The meticulously maintained long walking track that runs alongside the glistening sea beach creates an atmosphere of pure serenity. While the pier itself bustles with the lively energy of skaters, it only adds to the vibrant charm of the place. Though I had hoped to witness the sun dipping beneath the horizon in a magnificent display of colors, the westward view is somewhat veiled by the apartments and lush bushland. Instead of a direct view, what awaits is a poetic dance of sunset beams upon the water's surface, casting a magical reflection that captivates the soul. It's worth noting that this breathtaking location is often accompanied by a brisk, invigorating breeze. A wise choice would be to don a sturdy jacket and a cozy beanie. In summary, Princes Pier is a haven for those seeking a tranquil stroll, a glimpse of nature's artistry, and a connection with the elements. While the elusive sunset view may not unfold as anticipated, the symphony of light and water is an experience in its own right—one that promises to leave you utterly mesmerized.

Very laid back pier. Lots of beach areas within each. One can take casual walks along the whole area whilst sticking in some beautiful views all around. Some historical boards are available to read and understand about the area. It was calm not much wind so it was ideal with a beach shelter. Friendly vibe all around. Water was rather dirty with weeds but nothing to stop one from enjoying the water. Toilets are limited with only toilet at the pier. Parking was easy to get. Highly recommended for that quiet day out by the beach.

Good for a sit down and gander on a mild hotter days day like today, it's currently Thursday and 22 degrees but the sun is a little bit of a scorcher. Good for bringing your own chairs (fold up chairs/or even a normal chair) with you in the car and sit on the pier with your seat. It's ceiling wise an open area so there isn't much shade and a pier is generally a dry place so unless you're going to jump off the pier into the water come on a mildly hot day not a full blown simmering one. It's a great place to sit.

This short but wide clean pier has become a popular fishing, photography and skating spot. Beautiful sunset photos and the eerie worn out upright stumps of what once was a well used pier. I didn't realise how far out the stumps extended until I was walking along Sandridge beach. What we see as the usable section is just a very very small portion of the original pier. I'm glad they restored this section to make it usable again if all be it for different purposes. There is one unused disabled toilet here.

There was a massive floating Xmas tree in the water there!!! It was crazy massive. There was music and it was later like 11:30pm but there was people hanging out there. Like couples and some young kids and mixed ages. It was odd in a good way to see so many people there just enjoying this tree and the music. The tree was changing lights and had a video screen playing animations. The view was lovely.

The Princes Pier is a must-see for anyone looking for a fun and interesting spot to explore. The view from the pier was incredible, looking out over the ocean and the city skyline. The pier also had a lot of history, with many of Melbourne's historic ships having departed from here. The pier had plenty of seating, and a great selection of food and drinks available. An unforgettable experience!

Nice spot for a quick visit or a longer break. It’s just a few minute walk from the tram to get here and right along the water, so grab a snack or meal at the waterside places (by the station), wander over and take in the view for a bit. My favorite photo was just left of center, using the ocean ladder as a focus point but it’s all rather nice. Bathrooms right along the pier as well and drinking water back the walking path.

This is an amazing spot if you are into photography!! Best time would either be early in the morning or later afternoon when the sun is close to setting. The stumps jutting out of the water, cruise ships moving in and out amazing sun sets and sun rises make for some beautiful photography moments. Even if you are not into photography, it's still a nice place for an evening walk with a nice sea breeze washing over you.

Princes Pier is a 580 metre long historic pier on Port Phillip, in Port Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was known as the New Railway Pier until renamed Prince's Pier after the Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) who visited Melbourne in May 1920. Lovely place for the sunset. No charge or entry fee.

This place is probably one of the top photographed locations in Melbourne. I think most photographers and photography enthusiasts would have been here to get a few shots. It's pretty easy to see why too. The endless pier ruins makes for great shots and is good for sunset or sunrise depending what time of year you shoot here. Also a very popular spot to fish as well.

Peace place to stop and reflect and watch boat sail across the bay. Occasionally you’ll see the odd fishermen and on the weekends you may see a mix of bike riders, skate boarders and people rollerblading. There isn’t much cover, so you will be expose to the elements, including Port Melbourne briskly windy spells. I still think it’s a nice place for a Sunday walk.

Princes Pier is a 580 metre long historic pier on Port Phillip, in Port Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The pier was constructed between 1912 and 1915 by the Melbourne Harbor Trust to supplement the adjacent Station Pier. Access to this place is using Melbourne tram route 109 from beacon Cove station. Beautiful location and great surrounding views

  • GTB

The cruise ship terminal for Melbourne is a great location for access to the inner city or for walking around South Melbourne if that os you preference. Train/tram stop at the end of the pier make transport easy and access to the ship was easy and well managed.

Sunset at the pier. Interesting place to take a few photos of the old pier or walk along the foreshore from here, although it can be windy so be prepared. Lots of fishermen too when I was visiting., so must be an ok place to catch a few.

Stunning place for photographers for sunset images overlooking Williamstown and for long exposure images of the wooden columns of the old pier. Great view of all the massive ocean liners that frequently visit Port Phillip and of course the Tasmainian Ferry, The Spirit of Tasmamia. A definite must on your to see list.

Looking for something to do that would be away from people, in mid- March, we went to visit the picturesque Princess Pier. There were about 3 fishermen there enjoying the solitude. Otherwise it was just us and the seagulls. On the way there we came across a set of lighthouses and a star chart at Beacon Cove.

  • mithun desai

Amazing place... we visited on a good weather day and it was windy but pier was beautiful with amazing views... really lovely place to visit with your families... saw multiple people fishing there so guessing good spot for fishing if you are lucky to get one...would definitely visit again pretty soon

  • Adam Muncan

Soft white sand very comfortable to sun bake on. Water taste a bit more polluted then usual, likely due to its location near all the ship docking ports. Rarely overcrowded, especially very few teenagers given it is bit hard to get to via public transport. Close to lots of free car parks

  • Pahade B

I had been wanting to visit here for a long time. It did not disappoint me. I sat there watching the boats go by and people fishing. Great spot for photos. Very easy to get to with public transport. Walking distance to bars/restaurants nearby if wanting some food or drink. Worth a visit.

  • Abdullah Sawalhi

Lovely place. Very calm and nice for a day out. The place is a bit windy though. There is a public unisex toilet. In weekends, skaters gather and roller skate in the area, which is fun to watch.

One of the iconic photos I've seen on Microsoft, but visiting the place in person is even more enjoyable! I recommend visiting before sunset to capture some beautiful pictures right at sunset.

Beautiful place to watch the Sunset. Take tram 109 from city to Port Melbourne (last stop) if you are taking public transport. There are also toilets in the tram stop and near the pier.

Not a bad place to have a walk and relax. Lots of cool things to see off the pier like the nearby ships and the rest of the environment. You could go fishing right off the end of the pier, although I wouldn't know about the chances of getting a good bite here.

  • Rouven Grossmann

Great little spot for a relaxing time, even tho it was quite busy. Somehow, the view was calming and I felt excited to be there. A lot of fisherman nearby but very, very few tourists/visitors at the moment, so worth a visit. Also a nice walk to and from there.

  • David Ong

Weather was lovely. Windy and sunny. Some people were fishing at the area. Spent some quiet time here. There’s not much to see except for the view and the dock area. No facilities nearby

Nice place to come in the evening for a relaxing walk and see the sunset. Even late at night it feels like a safe place thanks to the lights and pedestrians walking by (was around the area around 9pm). Area is well maintained and clean.

It's nice for a quick stroll; the stretch is very beautiful, but really after you see the pier and take photos, there's nothing much to do unless you want to hit the nearby beach. Finding a parking spot is really tideous there.

  • Mike Henley

Decent looking pier, unsure if there were toilets there, some people skating. Lots of starfish in the water and washed up on shore.

Beautiful, quiet and serene pier - went in the morning to catch the sunrise. Had several cruise ships in the way, which showed a different vibe to no cruise ships. Quite a photogenic area :)

  • Aaron

Really neat area to take in the views of the port, while still near the city. I ran here for a sunrise and was not disappointed. I intend on making it back for a highly recommended sunset!

Great location for portraits, though the light is challenging at midday in full overhead sunlight.

Beautiful place. Sadly, there was no Spirit of Tasmania Boat to watch but still a beautiful place as we saw the sunset behind the cargo on loading and offloading area.

A place with a view to reflect an enjoy imagining older times. Windy as most of the beaches in this area, so if it’s not a hot summer day, bring a jacket/windbreaker
