Very interesting, informative and entertaining. The cheeky posters at Hobart Airport intrigued us so we were really pleased to find it was an easy drive from our accommodation. Inexpensive and they accept the Companion Card for people with disabilities.☺ The cupboard door displays were especially good for both pictures and surprising information! Plenty of poo samples large and small to see, but no horrific smells! Hands -on fun with touch screen displays and some cracking sound effects to blow off tension. The souvenir section could use expanding... they have some t shirts, pens and books: both the great fun kind and some non fiction. Hanging out for tea towels, with or without the Bristol Stool Scale! Ten months after our visit, I still relish the memories! I recently received a brilliant gift that would fit perfectly in the Pooseum: the Chocolate Wombat Poo! (Trying my best to attach pics) When we come back, I promise to buy some! Sadly 100 grams were gone in in less than 24 hours. Would love a bigger bag!

Our family loved the Pooseum. We found the owner extremely friendly and a wealth of knowledge. We took turns reading the text as a family, enjoyed the hands on aspects and definitely learnt a lot. Definitely worth a visit. After reading many reviews, I feel it's important to add- The Pooseum is a museum. Most small children do not thrive in museums and quickly voice their lack of enjoyment. This has absolutely nothing to do with the owner and everything to do with the cognitive development of small children. My daughter is 9 and my son is 13, their attention span is longer and behaviour better; so they found education and enjoyment at the Pooseum. Also the museum is privately funded. The owner has sourced all resources and information herself. So, no the museum isn't overly large but it is full to the brim with interesting information. The only way small businesses will be sustainable in our current climate is if we spend our time and money visiting them.

Great new museum in Richmond. I initially thought my wife and I would walk by and take a photo out front. Something to send the family and friends. But then we went inside, paid the $16 admission fee and spent at least an hour reading all the information and exhibits. The highlight was talking to Karin about her museum and having her add additional fascinating facts about animal poo! It’s much more than a photo stop, but a good lesson about the important role a seemingly taboo topic plays in our daily lives and the future of our environment.

A great lil musuem! Full of information and curiosities, the lady running the museum is super freindly and obviously passionate, her tech and immersive touch screens and info put a lot of the big musuems to shame. So much passion for poop in a lil building! *Coming from a plumber on holiday the last thing i would think of was to see more poop. Buts its very fun and engaging. Thank you host Wheelchair freindly too!

Loads of information, who knew there was so much to know about poo! Quirky sculptures, interactive displays, and small gift shop with great topical book selection. Whilst a small museum, its large enough for the topic, well presented and conveniently located in the beautiful village of Richmond. Make sure you visit the loo while your there (it’s interesting too). Not particularly suited to children under school age or those who dislike learning something new

  • Jesse Varley

We only came to Richmond by accident as our plans were changed due to a flight change. Glad we did as it's a beautiful town and the Pooseum was the first place we visited. It had so many interesting facts and the lady who runs it was lovely. After visiting I thought about this place each day I was in Tasmania when I saw various animal droppings! Probably best suited for teens and adults. Who knew poo could be so interesting?!

  • Jess McDonald-Norman

For a small museum, it is amazing how much the Pooseum packs in. There really is something for everyone - specimens, facts, videos, fart noise maker at child height, anatomical models at adult height. Karin was a friendly and informative guide. I convinced my husband to go if only for a laugh but it truly was great, with excellent production, world class interpretation, and a range of displays. Must visit when in Richmond.

  • Stacey Burn

Such a wonderful, creative space packed full of poo-formation. My children, 5&6 loved all of the visuals and my husband and myself enjoyed learning more about poo than we could have ever imagined. The interactive displays were an absolute hit as was the colouring corner for the younger kids who need a break. Such a great place and the host is a wealth of information, well worth the visit 5 Poos

Visited this museum at Easter and was unsure what to expect. To my surprise I and my friends from Sydney (a group of 40 somethings) loved it. It is really unusual and unique so much so I am still thinking about it months later. The museum is a true labour of love and well worth the money. Stay for as little or as long as you like. It's certainly not just for the kids. Would recommend to all!!

  • Shaun Primmer

Absolute disgrace of an establishment… I was in the little house and after 5 mins we had an unsettled baby who was crying for a couple of minutes and the weird German lady got frustrated with me and kicked me out.. would not recommend at all. It’s 1 room with a few pictures of poo. Not worth the money at all.

A little expensive for the size of it. Not really suitable for younger children as Lots of reading to understand the exhibits. I had been looking forward to going for weeks and planned our holiday to include a trip to Richmond so we could see this. I hadn't looked at website, was just going based on posts I had seen on Facebook. And yes, we left after 10 minutes as everyone was bored.

  • Alison Fenwick

Very interesting museum and well worth the visit. The woman who runs it has put so much care and consideration into the displays. Unlike other larger museums, this is run independently, which is fantastic. Not targeted towards kids, so if you take your little ones please keep an eye on them.

Firstly, its all about animal poop. Not human, my fault should have read the reviews. It's tiny and cost $18 per adult. Theres too much reading and not enough play for kids in my opinion. I would rate it higher at a $10 entry fee. There is definitely some interesting facts and plenty to read, but I wouldn't rave about it unfortunately More

  • Julia Biskupska

The museum was fun, innovative, and very informative! Karin clearly has a passion for all things poo - and I love that the pooseum didn’t take itself too seriously. The best part were the comissioned pooey art pieces shipped from all over the world - thank you for an educational afternoon!

Great little spot. This suits people who want to get into the details of all types of poo. Found it very informative and you can learn a lot if you choose to spend the time. It’s all contained in 1 room so do not expect that this is a large place to look around. If you like to take your time and learn then this is the place for you.

  • Sascha Humphreys

A wonderfully organised and well presented museum of knowledge ! This collection of facts and antefacts does an amazing job of making science and biology interesting and engaging, and helps children and all ages appreciate the science of poo rather than misconceived it as something disgusting. Our kids learnt so much. Thank you

  • jen bolst

Really interesting, informative exhibition. Lot's of interaction for the kids and adults. Even a kids corner. Very knowledgeable owner who I think put the whole pooseum together. Well worth a visit, especially for an inquisitive mind

The owner is rude, arrogant and aggressive towards children. Would definately not recommend. She grabbed at my 3yo as well as telling her off twice in 10-15 mins for being excited about the exhibits. Then lied about it on the review I left on Facebook saying I was slandering her. Highly disappointed in every way.

  • Louise Ritchie

Interesting museum but I think too expensive for families for what it is. A Cleaner made me feel uncomfortable by following us around and continually cleaning where we touched interactive items. Totally unnecessary post COVID

Absolute crappiest thing we’ve ever experienced! In a good, hilarious, enGROSSingly educational and entertaining way… Kids love it and learnt a lot. Adults learnt a lot and felt a little queasy, but overall fantastic and quirky little museum. The lady owner is very passionate so but this sh*t hehe

  • sandy muirs

What a treasure! This is such an interesting and interactive way of exploring the world of poo! Well done to the proprietor who has very skilfully balanced the scientific with the hilarious, much to the delight of kids and adults alike. Don't miss it!

Very informative museum about this forbidden topic. I believe young kids can also enjoy this place under parents' guidance. Also, the Director extended her great hospitality to further explain some exhibits. MUST check out thr emergency kit in the toilet! The best part of the museum. Thank you …

  • Dave Edwards

Interesting idea but overpriced for what it is, especially as there is no family discount, it gets way too expensive with four kids. Most is not of great interest for the adults and the rest too nerdy for the kids.

The Pooseum was recommended to us by fellow travellers who told us that it was a “not to be missed experience.” We were so glad we paid a visit. So much interesting and quirky information. If you’re into science and love learning new things this is the place for you!

  • Andrew Turner

Very earnest attempt and a very knowledgeable host! It was certainly interesting and kept the kids totally entertained for a surprisingly long time (20min or so) but wasn't as big as I was expecting for the high entry price. Definitely one for kids who can read.

Never thought I would be rating a museum on poo - but it was really interesting and informative and we all need to learn to talk about this more easily. It is fun too - the best sh*tshow we have been to! :-) A must if you are in Richmond.

Well done Pooseum, we were here in January. It’s a very unique and interesting place. Definitely one of the best attractions of Richmond. We heard about you in the news today, I hope the council leave you alone and let you keep the sign.

A really cute hidden gem in Tasmania. Karin (the curator) is an excellent host, she is informative and attentive and knew all things poo! Really recommend this small cute exhibition if you're after something fun and different.

  • Robin Evans

Saw it while leaving Richmond and was like "Well we HAVE to stop". An extremely well run small museum showcasing the passion of the owner for all the diversity of poo in the animal kingdom. Great and educational for all ages.

  • Andrew Bloyce

The good: Fun and quirky. Well executed given the subject matter. The bad: it's a small space and $16 entry is a bit sh#t (pun intended). Maybe worth it for primary school students or poo-fanatics, but wasn't worth it for us.

  • Jenny Shaviv

This is a real gem! So much information packed in to this little museum. Perfect blend of fun and facts. I especially liked the interactive technology and the reading corner. Woman who runs it is so creative! Thank you!
