Spent a few hours there the other evening fishing. You bait up a hook on a line, on a fishing rod and cast it out to sea. Then.....You wait......and wait......and wait. Then you talk to some random stranger who is passing at 1 in the morning(God knows where he's come from. You keep your fingers crossed he's not an axe wielding maniac) and listen to him rant on about how many fish he caught there last week. Meanwhile you're still waiting for the fish to grab your baited hook. Which incidentally never bloody happened. That's why I only spent a couple of hours there!!

Beautiful area so close to the city centre. This area allows you to take 5min for yourself and forget about the crazy stress of life. Plenty of people fishing and a nice walking and bike track to head towards altona. Easy access to rock pools for exploring and hunting for crabs with young kids. Bring aqua or closed in shoes as muscle shells and braincells can be sharp specially on young feet

This park is incredibly private - noone ever seems to go there - but a superb place to take your notebook for a quiet session writing or drawing. The bench seats are firm, the sea is calm or wild depending on the day and the setting is quiet, with only wear noises to disturb one's work. Try it - it's one way to enhance creative productivity.

A proof that Williamstown is rich with significant historical landmarks, Point Gellibrand is home to Victoria's first seaport and permanent settlement. Seagulls can be a nuisance, but visits here are almost always relaxing. During most times, expect fresh sea breeze, lots of parking space and relaxing strolls within the area.

A great place to take the dog for a run, however it is an on-lead area so you can either be sneaky or take 25m of rope as a lead. The place is right in the water so the wind will always make the place much cooler that places aware from the sure. The grass is cut fairly regularly but be careful of snakes on sunny days.

Covers quite a large area so you can do a lot of walking. Great water views and a significant sized playground at the western side. Information on past land uses is provided on display signs as you move about through the park. Close to a shared pathway if you want to go further.

I often take my dog "Lexi" for a walk along the beach to Point Gellibrand. It's a good walk from home to the beach/point gellibrand. Looking out across the water, watching the sun set is very calming/relaxing and a great way to de-stress yourself after a hard day at work...

Apart from the refinery blocking much of the view to the east, this is a nice place which should always be protected. I like the peaceful (but narrow and rocky) beach next to Battery Road, including the lava blister, and the playground at Fort Gellibrand is great for kids.

Great place for photos, with a view right across the bay in clear weather. The walking path continues so the way around Williamstown through Newport in one direction, and around the waterfront, past Williamstown Beach, through to Altona beach in the other direction.

I think it might be good for a ride, scoot or skate along the pathways. Views are....’industrial’ if you’re into that. Went for some Rockpool like play for the kids, was disappointed. There’s the Hobson Bay town down the road which is cute, very touristy randomly.

Very relaxing place to sit and watch the ships go by. We were lucky enough to see dolphins.Walking path along the water for excercising, taking the dog for a walk etc. Great historic stop for tourists and a huge park where you could stop

Point Gellibrand is such a pleasant surprise so close to the city. It is a great spot to watch shipping to and from Melbourne. It is a great spot to watch the many yachts under sail. Nice place for romantic photos too.

This was a great place to paddle around in a kayak. It was our first time in our new kayak, it was calm and protected. Lots of swans, crabs in the rock pools and we saw a good size jelly fish swimming around.

  • Dallas McGuire Hindle

Had an amazing walk around the park with my wife, great views of the city and water, lovely paths and general environment. Will go back frequently! Only negative is that there is a bit of dog poop around.

  • Sid Bakshi

Nice little walks and great views of water. BBQ and benches available with cute little playground for kids. Have Williamstown markets close by to get anything you want for a picnic and good family crowd

This heritage park marks an important period during Victoria's history and most of the sites are well maintained and the signage gives you a sound idea as to why it's very important, worth a visit.

  • Michael Doidge

A nice place to watch the ships go by to/from Port Phillip Bay. A small amount of parking with a water view. Toilets are situated at the end of the park (if you enter from the esplanade.

  • Sean Enright

Lovely walk, just a small section by the beach with a snake warning next to the main park, so no need to venture in to that bit if you as opposed to mixing with snakes as I am.

  • Lina Raffa

A spot to park the car & either sit on the bench & watch the sunset or the ships passing by. Always a relaxing spot for me to stop at the end of the day & stare in to the sea.
