Worst service we had for “to go” food in charlotte. We have eaten at this restaurant for 10 years or more But recently the service has become worse each visit. Clearly different owners or managers. We ordered a simple, small order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived 25 minutes later (restaurant half full and one person waiting for to go order) And they said “it’s just about ready” we waited another 10 minutes and asked again and they said ”its almost ready” all while seating customers as they walked in . We watched as they filled order after order of to go orders all stacking up on a table but none were ours. We were patient and kind but persistent. One table of 3 ladies walked in after we did and had finished their drinks and appetizers before we finally left with ours, 40 minutes after they told us it would be ready. The phone was ringing the entire time we were waiting and every order they took they said “20 minutes” when they clearly knew it would be at least 60+ minutes (why were they even answering the phone?) When these “to go” people started showing up, the 2 workers (the only 2 we saw outside the kitchen) just kept saying , “it’s almost ready” to everyone, instead of saying “we’re in the weeds and we are so sorry” They told us one last time” it’s almost ready” and we waited a final 10 minutes while the people waiting on orders and waiting on tables started complaining at once. They brought our food out without even an apology, which is the only reason we wrote this review. If at one point in our long wait there, they had acknowledged their problem and fault, we would have just thought “bad night” at Pio Pio. We will not return.

Worst Service ever! We went to the Dilworth location hoping for a good Sunday lunch with the family (4), but we were immensely disappointed in the service. First, our waiter, who wouldn't give us his name or his managers name took our order and decided not to write it down. We ordered appetizers, drinks and main courses. Of course he messed up our order and brought us two arepas less than we ordered, one order had plantains rather than yucca and one chicken order was white meat rather than dark as requested. Second, when the bill came, they automatically had entered a tip of 18.5% and still had a line for tip below. When we requested that the 18.5% tip be removed because we wanted to enter our own, the waiter adamantly said no and thought that he deserved 18.5%. Third, when asked to speak to the manager and when asking for his name he refused to give us either. A completely unsatisfactory and unprofessional service on behalf of this waiter. The man working the cashier (Eddie) was very professional and had great customer service trying to diffuse the situation. Also, the waitress that was there seemed genuinely interested in helping. Ultimately, I have heard that the Blakeny location is better than the Dilworth location, and it must be true because this is the worst customer service I have receives in a very long time. Having a waiter argue with a customer about his tip is unreal. Needless to say, I will not be back ever, and ill make sure everyone that asks knows my experience as well.

I ordered from this place quite often as it came highly recommended by coworkers. Typically I was given a variety of sauces. The green sauce is a little too spicy for me. On this particular occasion, I requested no green sauces, all white sauces, and asked the lady if I could do curbside as I had a child in the car. It was pouring down rain and the website said curbside available. Later I was told no curbside is technically available, but yet you can see on the example in the picture below that it still appears available on their site. She grudgingly brings me my order with 1 sauce in the bag. I asked her for a couple more sauces considering the amount of my order. She refused. She could at least charged me if necessary, and then she refused to answer the phone when I called back. I called the Blakeney location to express my concerns because this was a matter of principle at this point. Ultimately no one ever called me. I called them the following week day. A gentleman apologized and said he wrote my name in a book for a discount. Fast forward to this Sunday, I worked 16 hours at the hospital and was going to order food. I called them, and a guy basically said sorry, this is not how it works and asked who was the lady who was rude. Poi Pio, you need to do better!!!!

This restaurant gives you a 20% coupon each time you place an order and have it delivered buy DoorDash. The problem is that in order to use the 20% coupon you can only place the order on their website their website will not allow it to be delivered to your address says it's not serviceable. I've called the restaurant numerous times and I keep getting hung up on. When comparing the two orders on their website it comes out to $31 with tip on DoorDash it comes out to 46.96 with tip same exact order. Cannot seem to speak to a single person in this restaurant who understands what I'm talking about or can come up with a solution for me to place my order so I don't think I'm going to be ordering from their restaurant any longer because the service is terrible. And over the last 2 months I've probably lost out on about I want to say 50 plus in coupons that I should have received from this restaurant and the overcharging of DoorDash

The environment was clean, inviting, and the food was very flavorful. For the appetizer, I purchased a chicken empanada, and for the main course, chicken tacos with rice and beans. Service was quick. I received the appetizer first, and my first impression was that the crust of the empanada was oily and greasy. The same was true for the tacos; their shells were slightly oily. I recall tasting the cooking oil, which was not overpowering but still present. I was not pleased with this aspect, making the crust and shell the less favorable parts of my dining experience. On the other hand, once you get past these negatives, the chicken is well-seasoned and very tasty. I removed the taco shell, mixed the rice, beans, and chicken from the tacos with the green sauce, and had a delightful lunch. Overall, the chicken was divine. I would go back, but next time, I’ll try the chicken portions and avoid anything with a shell or crust.

The food is delicious and I order the same thing every time. The snapper fish with saffron rice but my issue is the service. Every time I order over the phone and they say “It will be ready in 15-20 minutes”. And every single time I go inside expecting my food to be ready and I end up having to wait a whole hour before the food is ACTUALLY done. So 15-20 minutes turns into 1.5hrs and today I was fed up with this happening and asked for a manager. The male goes to get another male who was not a manager, who said the manager is not in today but will be available on Monday between 11am-12noon. I will be back on Monday to complain because this happens literally every time at this location and that fish it too expensive for me to be treated this way.

Ate here today with high hopes. By the end of the meal I was disappointed. The food was great until I realized I had been served tostones on a dirty plate. The situation, I’m sure, could have been rectified but the restaurant manager didn’t seem to care that there was a situation at hand. He totally ignored us , THE BLACK FAMILY, and tended to every other Latino family in the establishment. I’m highly disappointed and saddened by the treatment and outright racism shown towards my family and I. Then on top of the blatant disrespect shown towards our party they were going to charge us for three passion fruit juices to-go knowing that there was no passion fruit juice left. The communication was terrible. Their disdain for us was unbelievable. The whole situation blew my mind. I will never visit this establishment again. I do not support business that operate on hate or racism and those that don’t treat everyone the same.

Went to Pio Pio on Mother's day 2017. We arrived and was immediately seated. We were provided with lunch menus on our tables and we ordered from the lunch menus. However, we got the bill and was charged Dinner Prices. The young man who was our server was rude and had been rude but we were disregarding it to still enjoy our mother because this is where she wanted to eat. We brung to his attention (our waiter) that we were charged incorrectly he refused to change price and stated verbatim "I gave you lunch menus to be polite but by the time I placed your order in the system, the system switched to dinner." I had to request a manager for it to get fixed. The whole time the manager was correcting the difference in amount, the young man (our waiter) kept saying don't change it for them! As much as we love this place we will probably Never go back... You can not overcharge and mistreat your patrons!

I've been here a lot, I always get the soup, it's excellent. The rotisserie chicken I would put on par with lot of refined food places in town (think it's better then roosters or roasting company). It's one of the things they're known for. If you like spicy their green sauce is excellent. And for the vegetarians they have a yuca guisada that is very filling and delicious and the juices are solid. The first couple times I ordered too much food oftentimes the soup and an side dish is enough for me, with company I can usually split another dish but I leave very stuffed. The service here can be hit or miss, they're always polite. But sometimes miss details or are a little slow on the service. I still continue to go back to get the things that are solid. Never been particularly impressed with the seafood so I stay with the chicken.

  • Bijou Blue

The restaurant is a little small but the flavor is HUGE! Great food, warm and friendly staff. This is a treat for me and my friends. The roasted chicken is like no other. If you are familiar with Peruvian food, you will understand!! The next best thing to the chicken are the beans. I was a little disappointed by the beans on my last trip but hopefully that was just a one-off. Typically the beans are SO savory, creamy, and flavorful - you do not know whether you are coming or going!! Get the half chicken, platanos and beans!! Thank me later

If I could give a 0 stars, I did it. I placed an order online. It’s a bad joke charging 19 dlls for the worst chaufa rice, a portion of this size for that price is ridiculous. Even they over charge 4 more dollars for adding shrimp (2 pieces) beef and chicken ( a couple of tiny chunks). I came from Florida and I know how is the authentic Peruvian flavor, this place is overpriced and overrated. Their food flavorless, the meats were over cooked (seems like they only added leftovers) and the size of plate is really an insult for the price you pay! First time and I will never comeback! Stay away! Worst Peruvian restaurant ever!

No one was at the front when we arrived. They weren't welcoming. We got seated and unfortunately it was hard to communicate because my wife and I didn't speak Spanish. Tables were too close to each other. Food was okay and less flavorful than the Peruvian food that we're used to and we found out after we left that this is more Colombian than Peruvian. When we were ready to bill out there was no one to give my card to and ended up paying online via qr code. I undertand if they didn't have enough people to work but it could've been a better experience if they were friendly and welcoming. They need to be more attentive and caring. Will not go back.

I ordered the same meal for the second time to be sure I was fair about my review. The result was the same. The rice, beans and plantains are tasty, however the star of the show, the chicken, is dry with no seasoning. it appears the garlic sauce is intended to provide the missing flavor. I actually prefer the chicken at Viva Chicken, which is a chain, but the chicken is always moist and wonderfully seasoned without the sauces. i did not dine in, but the take out service is friendly but a bit slow

My husband and I use to frequent this place often the food use to be excellent so this way our date day place .we haven't been able to go in about a month due to the fact it's a hour away. Our recent visit was awful the waitress was very rude to offered my husband a refill on his drink but not me . She also figured I didn't know what I wanted since they fix Peruvian and Latin American food well my husband is spanish! The cook must have changed because my food came and tasted like the grease was not drained , my rice tasted like it was from yesterday, and my yuca was terrible! My pintos had no flavor this was the worst experience I have had I will NOT be going back.

  • Maddy Azdi

Awesome chicken and the fried plantains were great. No doubt the best thing about this place is the way the chicken is cooked.. I usually order a whole chicken (with no sides) about eleven dollars only and take the rest to go. As I mentioned earlier the plantains would be my preferred appetizer or in some cases I'll get the guacamole instead. Only reason I didn't give this place a five star rating was because of the sauces this place has only 2 sauces that aren't that good to be honest... the garlic based sauce tastes like ranch and the other one isn't that good. Im not a sauce fanatic but Peruvian chicken is great only with good sauces as the ones at Viva Chicken

  • Fernando Leiva-Duran

The worst Peruvian I ever tried. They have not idea how is the real LOMO SALTADO, my wife had the worst plate. I ordered a steak w/ruceand beans...well it was 2 of 5. But the Lomo Saltado was anything. Attached you will see how they serve. And look the tomato, it was over cooked and the worst they put tomato sauce in the plate...&@%$&$,# Waht?? They have not idea how is the real. The base of Lomo Saltado is the Soy sauce. It makes the plate the aroma between a Chinese sauteed and a Peruvian plate, it is a combination of two worlds. Please don't say PERUVIAN FOOD. IT IS NOT! Look those pictures, it looks like stewed meat or anything...that IS NOT A LOMO SALTADO.

  • Maria Smith

I came from SC to eat some Peruvian food which I love but this place is nothing to do the chaufa mix suppose to have shrimp and chicken no shrimp and it was white rice mix with egg. I order the Montañero and the beef had a bad taste our food took more than 20 min to come out even the server came back from his lunch and asked us if we want something else when we did not even get our food. I complain about all this and they gave me $5 discount insulting absolutely not recommended

I've been a loyal customer at Pio Pio for over 6 years, spending thousands on various occasions. Despite alerting the manager about an undercooked chicken in my recent order, accompanied by a photo and receipt, he declined to take any corrective action—no refund, no future discount. It's disheartening that this decision, aimed at saving $12, may cost the restaurant much more in future business. Beware before dining here. I will certainly be spreading the word to my network.

The food here is amazing! Deducted one star due to what happened when we arrived for pick up. Arrived and was told by two servers “just a moment” about 3 times while they continued to clean tables and check out other customers, which is understandable and we were patient. A gentleman walks in, they immediately ask him if he was picking up, went to the kitchen to grab his orders, bagged it, and he was out before we were. He didn’t even wait 5 mins. Meanwhile, we were at the counter, where we see our food already bagged, and no one followed up to acknowledge or ask us if we were picking up.

My husband just had surgery a couple of hours ago. I got dinner that I "thought" I was going to share with him since he can not eat much. But what I received was not enough to feed a 8 year old. I was under impression it came with rice and beans and I chose a side. I got a salad I didn't ask for a a tiny 1/4 of chicken that looked like it was starving. With the sweet plantines. I wish I could share it but not much too share. To be delivered to CMC MAIN. The driver was fast and curtious. I appreciated that.

The place did’t cover my expectations… services and customer services has 6 of 10 I know we are close to 9 pm but the waitress needs to pay more attention to the customers … I was looking for a nice Peruvian restaurant in Charlotte and the reviews talked. But certainly my lomo salteado was not a real lomo plate .. the jalea is far away to the real Jalea too….. this restaurant needs more quality and better flavors training for their employees. Potentially has the instruments but needs still more ..

Not authentic Peruvian food. I had high expectations that this would be a great group in restaurant. However, the only Peruvian thing here is the name of the restaurant. I had the steak sandwich, and the quality of meat was probably the lowest you could find, fatty. The chicken dish, was extremely dry and hard. Been to Peru, this food isn't it. Plates were an average cost of a round 11 - $13. Place was clean, but they little small. No Peruvian sauces, like huacatay, rocoto y aji amarillo. No Causa or Ceviche. :( Generros or Viva are more authentic pollarillas0

  • Katya Pajuelo

This is a NO PERUVIAN RESTAURANT! It says Peruvian but it's a Colombian one. This restaurant has some Peruvian options, but of course in another style. The worst Lomo Saltado that I ever tried, needs a lot of culinary improvement. I tried to add salt pepper/ dressing, but the taste was awful. Even I tried better Colombian restaurants. Service is ok, I only liked their Passion Fruit drink. I was very disappointed to pay for food that I didn't eat because It was terrible, and the server didn't offer anything else. If you can, please choose another place to eat.

The staff isn't really my cup of tea sore to say. I've been to this location several times with food deliveries. We and each time the staff is really I have to be honest really rude unapologetic about wait times in speaks a lot of Spanish when I know it's not the appropriate thing that they're saying in their language but I'm not the one to judge. however from a professional standpoint I feel like everyone should be treated with equality no matter race sexual orientation whatever it maybe I just think the staff needs to learn that.

  • Heidy Marquez

We walked in and sat down because we had previously done that before and it was never an issue. A male server sat another table down and I asked him if we could please see a menu while we waited. He proceeded to tell us that there is a sign on the door that says to wait to be seated, then he gives us our menus and walks away. He never was polite at the least and went to help the other table. I’m okay with that but his way of telling us was very rude and we decided to just leave. 0/10 service from the guy, but the food is amazing.

  • Admin Anntonys

The owner was not nice to Myself, girlfriend and child. In a place that was barley filled, he had restrictions on where he felt we should sit. With a "could care less" attitude, he was not nice. My girlfriend comes here all the time and highly recommends the food. She was severely shocked that the owner would be so rude. I was floored when she told me he was one of the owners, his treatment was horrible. I would hate to think if it was that we are an interracial couple. He gets a Big '0' for his score as a Good Man

  • Thalia Aparicio

I was driving back in town from an 8 hour trip today. I placed my online order at 1:50 pm. I requested for it to be ready at 4:15 pm. I got to the restaurant around that time and they told my husband it would be just a few more minutes. Twenty minutes later, my order came out. There was no apology for this. I asked the young man if there's anything he could do for the inconvenience, and he offered me a soda. I was very disappointed and frustrated.

Pio Pio had some pros and cons, Our wait time was above average about 35min. Sauce containers are supposed to be labeled if not the customer could choose the wrong sauce and could mess up the entire meal. My meal was very well done. The prices are a little bit expensive but the food was very good. Bathrooms are very clean, I was really surprised and floors was phenomenal. We loved are visit and willing to come back.

Unfortunately this is the first time I’ve ever had to leave a negative review of a restaurant experience in my life. Important note: the food is excellent. The staff (I asked three different people two men and a woman) wereunwilling to ask extremely loud and profanity spewing customers to please quiet the volume of thenprofany in the conversation and stop cursing. When I politely said I can’t have my family in here with this going on they said then just don’t come back. So we won’t be back

  • Miss Helena

Don't do it. I ordered a whole chicken, yellow rice and beans and a quarter of avocado. They charged me 2.00 for the tiniest slice of avocado and as far as the chicken goes, it was NOWHERE NEAR a whole chicken and the rice and beans portion was small and very cheap, like they didnt want to give you any.. Save your money. This place wont get you full and they lie on their portion sizes. What they advertise is not what you get and you'll be disappointed in what your order looks like.

  • Julio Galvão

Waited for more than one hour. Food came before the salad and the starters. Place was full and only two waiters were working and having issues with the system. Ordered a glass of wine, they offer in the menu but the item is not in the system. Waiter offered us desert before the food arrive. We've been here before and it was a good experience, but not too sure of what happened - it was one of the worsts experiences of my life. If I could give negative stars I'll do it....

  • Gene Burns

This is not the child friendly place. It was difficult finding a spot for a Car Seat. We've waited for our food for 45 minutes. We have ordered authentic dishes and were served cold and completely tasteless. They are known for the chicken, I would suggest one from Sams, it has more flavor. We have enjoyed the drinks. Service was slow and not a bit attentive. I would strongly suggest other South American restaurants in the area before paying this one a visit.

  • John Blackwell

The food here is always consistently good. They are a Peruvian Rotisserie so definitely try out the chicken with rice and beans. They have a fantastic garlicy salad dressing that goes well with everything and always deliver authenticity. There3-4 outdoor tables depending on the day and if the day is nice definitely better to sit outside. Their sangria is top notch too! It's become one of my Staples in Charlotte and I am always up for eating here.

  • Aliyah James

Me and my husband go there all the time and this time we went was this new server she said her name was gabby, honestly it was the best experience that we had in there it was also her first day working there. Love their food, use to be the best fried calamari I've ever had. But today when we came it looks like they've changed their calamari. The way it looks and tastes is completely different. I am very disappointed with this change. The taste is a 5 when it use to be a 10. So sad I hope it's not a permanent change. Maybe someone ordered the wrong ones or you ran our and had to get a different kind because the truck hasn't came in yet.

  • Brittainy Harper

Hate it…. Ordered online, I ordered what I thought was a combo meal. My mistake it didn’t come with the rice and beans. I asked the lady at the desk, no problem how much to add the rice and beans? “It’s very expensive”… she walked away saying she was going to help me.. but didn’t look like it… I left with my chicken and avocado….why would I order this without the rice and beans This place has been run down! Stay farrrrr away.

  • Elisheba Williams

They recycle customer leftovers!!! Wondering what happened to the four plantains that were supposed to be wrapped up with the rest of my food?? We’re they put on someone else’s plate??? Ewwww! Maybe the ones I had was also from the previous customer. Bottom line… they only wrap your food. The plantains return to the kitchen. Pretty disgusting!!!

The food is ALWAYS fresh! I always order the snapper and it’s so crispy and delicious. It definitely reminds me of the snappers you get at the beach in the DR. The chicken is good but could have more of a crisp to it. The white and green sauces are amazing. Only con: the fried plantains and guacamole appetizer could come with more than 6 plantains. If you are sharing, you get left which a bunch of guacamole and no plantains.

  • Cynthia Acevedo

I haven’t been able to find a good Peruvian restaurant since I’ve moved to Charlotte and this one definitely takes the cake. The employees are very friendly and the food is delicious. It is a small place so it feels a little bit more homey and comfortable. Everything tastes fresh and is seasoned very well, I’ve gone back twice since first trying this place out and I’m excited to make this a regular lunch/dinner place.

  • Elaine Armbruster

I got the 1/4 rotisserie chicken (white meat) with plantains, rice and beans. Everything was really good and flavorful. I don't always like bone-in chicken, but this practically fell off the bone. The arepa with cheese (appetizer) was a little bland, but dipping sauces helped. The green sauce has a kick to it! High chairs available.

Absolutely loved this place! The food is so delicious and fresh! Reasonable prices for what you get! I recommend getting the Latin dinner combo. It's for more than one person and you get a whole chicken, beans, rice, plantains, yucca, salad and dressings all for $28. 3 of us ate this last night and we all had plates to bring home. Our waiter was wonderful! I'm thinking of going back again this weekend

I’ve been eating here for five years straight. I always have to ask for napkins here. It’s ridiculous, stop being stingy with napkins that’s so petty. You also need to correct the language barrier with your newer employees it had gotten out of control these past few years. It’s like pulling teeth ordering a meal with small special requests.

Ordered rice and chicken with veggies. It comes all mixed together. There was almost no chicken in the mixture. The rice was flavored with ketchup. The flavor of the food overall was not enticing. Thank goodness they give you garlic sauce on the table, bc I needed it. The service was mediocre. The plantains were good---> I'd go there again to pick up an order of plantains and that's about it!

I really enjoy the food here. I used to have it delivered often. I decided to pick it up instead last week and the two young ladies at the counter couldn't have been ruder. I don't usually leave bad reviews having been in the restaurant business for 25 years now. And the food is consistently good. Better than good really. But the attitude at the counter needs to be checked.

  • Sweets Alexander

Chicken wasn’t fresh and it was cold. I let the server know and she didn’t offer to get fresh chicken. She said I’m sorry. That’s what she didn’t get tip. I never received oil & vinegar for my salad. It was horrible. If you like old cold food and horrible service go. I will never go there again. I use to eat at the one off Lancaster Hwy a few times a week.

The staff is always very friendly offering drinks while you wait. The restaurant is clean and the food is always delicious, authentic, and tastes homemade. I love this place.

It's cute but very small... tables are crushed together.. chicken is very boney... I keep spitting little chunks of bones .. kinda heavy food.. very expensive, they charge for everything. Not a fan.. location is nice..rich white people neighborhood.. I don't think I'll come back unfortunately

The beans were watery, had only one tiny piece of plantain as seasoning, the steak was flat and dry it comes with a disgusting sauce mainly vinegar & parsley. The waiter took my daughters plate without asking if she was finished, and mine also I wanted to finish my maduros. I left 20% tip because this review will make them do better. More

  • George Busot

A very nice place with a great atmosphere. The staff was very, very attentive, helpful and friendly. I ordered the skirt steak with rice, beans and tostones cooked to order with a great flavor. Rice and beans were delicious. The tostones were good but, a little undercooked for my taste. I will definitely go back before I leave Charlotte.

My husband and his family celebrated his mother's birthday here last night. We made a reservation a few days prior for a party of 10 and when we got there everything was setup as planned. Everyone loved their food ( we ordered 4 latin combos) and the service was Great! We will definetly be having more family gatherings here!!!

  • Tamara Berg

Got the 1/2 chicken with rice, beans, plantains and side of green sauce to-go and really enjoyed this meal. Everything was flavorful, the beans were delicious, and the chicken was tender and juicy. The portion is big enough to split into 2 meals. Gladly recommend this place!

My favorite goto is the "Arroz con Pollo". With the green super spicy sauce. That hot sauce is hands down absolutely delicious. Parking sometimes is difficult, but the food is delicious.

Great food. Hard to order it the way you want it. They don't want you substituting sides even when you tell them you will pay more. Language barrier unfortunately makes eating in frustrating. Take out is great, just order from the menu. Well darn, just found a bone in my chicken sandwich, be careful! Bite slowly

  • Rhonda Scott

We use to eat here years ago when they were under different management. Today the food was terrible, they got the order wrong and the service was poor. My hubby said they did not greet him nor said thank you. We will NOT be back.

We only get takeout here, there is a sit down restaurant as well. The whole chicken is delicious and very inexpensive! They give you two sauces with the chicken, a green and white sauce. The green is super hot and the white is a garlic sauce and is not spicy. The sweet plantains are quite good as well.

  • Shellz Brown

I never ever do reviews but I had this food and my heart was so happy! Hands down the best food in Charlotte. I would pay obscene amounts of money to get the recipe for the green sauce!! Really if you’re considering it, just go for it, the half chicken with rice and beans and plantains stole my heart.

  • Marleenee Washington

The food here is good and the service is good. The beans and rice are really good. It isn't life changing. I made a reservation for ten the day prior. I called the day of and they had no record of it. When I arrived ten minutes early nothing was set up, but they did start working on it immediately.

  • Milton Irizarry Jr

This was so good. I was very surprised! I heard about this place so many times, but never went. The family style chicken dinner is the way to go, so much delicious food and perfect for sharing. Friendly staff, great location, highly recommend.

Delicious!! The gentleman in front helped me pick my lunch and the 1/4 Chicken combo was just what I needed in my rainy life today! I normally hate leftovers and I cannot wait to eat the rest of my yummy lunch tomorrow.

I went in there and had the “Pollo a la brasa” which was on point. I also had the “Jalea” which I usually compare it to a calamari order and it was deeeelicious!!! Great job at this restaurant. Can’t wait to go back! The service was good too!

Arrived to pick up a call ahead order, was told there would be a 5 min wait. After 10 min asked again and was told “just 5 more minutes”, this game continued for over 45 minutes before I was able to get my order. I wouldn’t have been as upset if they had been honest with their initial estimate.

  • Mike Hege

We love Pio Pio and have supported over the years. This past visit did not disappoint for empanadas and Pollo rotisserie and cafe cappuccinos. I'm giving 4 stars only because the chicken was dry and have never liked that the default is "dark meat" vs an upgraded light meat. Also... no limes!

  • Sweatmoore

I ordered the chicken and rice to go and was extremely disappointed. The portion was so small and was $15 - I contacted them to ask and they said they are only serving half portions until they change the price. I do not recommend or ask before if they are going to charge for half or full.

  • Lucia Alzamora

The service is pretty good, place is clean and neat. But unfortunately The rostisseri chicken, Pollo a la brasa was not Peruvian flavor. The French fries was not real potatoes as Peruvian style. Price is good.

The food was so good, the chicken falls off the bone, the chicken soup was awesome remind me of my God mothers chicken soup back in Havana! The plantains were cooked perfectly nice and sweet, and the salad was fresh and crispy. And yes they do have Tres leche. Excellent comfort food!

  • Adam Chavis

Great place for Peruvian food. I went with a large group and we all shared a little of each other's food. Everything was excellent. Small restaurant, but fast service. The music being played was kind of loud for such a small place, but I'm sure they would turn it down of you asked.

  • Gary Knight

Excellent Colombian and Peruvian fare that is authentic, reasonably priced, and well prepared. Closest experience to eating in a Latino restaurant in Miami I have been able to find in Charlotte. Update Fall 2018: food is still good and the price/value relationship is still good.

Picked up a family meal and extra rotisserie on our way home from a weekend in Charlotte. Got home, reheated it all in the oven, and it was incredibly delicious! Great flavor in everything and the chicken was juicy. Great value for money too! This may be a new tradition.

  • Stephanie Clanton

So, so, so good. We got the Jaleah, Lomo Saltado, an Arepa with cheese, and Tres Leches. Everything was absolutely delicious. Decor inside is nice, restaurant and bathrooms are clean, and the wine is reasonably priced. First time here and we will most definitely be back.

Love it my first time coming to this restaurant was when I was brought here on my birthday back in November 2019. The red snapper and the salmon perfect. The sangria excellent. Anytime I come the food is consistent, and the hospitality is excellent thank you to all.

  • Glen Anderson

Pio Pio is one of my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. I have a never been disappointed with the food or service at this place. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I visit this place every week because I just cannot get enough of it. Definitely a must visit.

  • Jasmine Irvin

The food is very good. Many years ago they had a low sanitation score(86) so I didn't go there for 5 years but I decided to go again today...I didn't see the score posted but the food was very good. I will go again and recommend it if you want tasty Peruvian food.

  • Angelique Danihel

Finally found some GREAT food in CLT! I hope this place never changes. You must get the Red Snapper with rice & beans. My friend and I picked the bones clean. Prepared so well and the portions were filling. Red sangria on the patio, I have found my happy place!

  • Roxanne Daugherty

Had my birthday dinner here with my date. We ordered the Latin dinner of a whole chicken, yuca, plantains, rice, beans, salad. It was awesome. Everything was delicious and fresh. We had plenty to take home for lunch the next day. Impressed and we'll be back!

  • ROBERT Owayneee

I've been coming here for years. The food is excellent but since they've converted the bottles to this contraption here, it's a huge health hazard. People are breathing over it people are touching the spoons onto their food. This is definitely a concern.

  • Joshua Brown

Something happened not too long ago, a change in recipe or ingredients (probably both). The chicken used to be amazing and now it is barely edible. It is a shame because it was really fantastic.

Made the mistake of ordering this for lunch today. Made the even bigger mistake of odering tacos. Was supposed to come with rice and beans. Didn't get any beans but I did get a cold, hard brick of what was rice at one point in its life.

  • Ryan Grammatico

We went at 12 pm on a Monday. Place was definitely packed but we didn't get our entree's until 45 minutes later. Wait staff never came through and updated us as to what was going on. They were courteous but could definitely let us know

We got a burnt calamari and returned it, they took it out of our check but owner was upset and came to our table. They had no curtido for the colombian patties and peruvian food is not even close to what it should be. More

  • Timothy Gosey

Excellent customer service and food. Reasonable prices. Definitely will be going back! Amazing selection and atmosphere! Small size restaurant, so I could see that if there is a line, don't be surprised; worth the wait!!!

I visited Pio Pio while in town and I will say the food is pretty good. The Pio Pio food in NYC locations are way better. The sangria was strong. The service was great. Would recommend if in the mood for Peruvian food.

  • Paul Jensen

Great place. Delicious chicken, plantains, rice and beans, tacos. Excellent service prices are good and you get a really big portion. Plenty of parking too. Right on East Blvd next to the Fresh Market. Check it out!

  • London

I love this place! The rotisserie chicken is very well seasoned all the way down to the bone. Rice and beans are great along with the sweet plantains. Kisses to the chef. Great food great price. Try the beef pattie.
