My son was in the hospital and I decided to stop here to get him a little get well gift and a gift for my daughter who was home being a big girl while we were away. Little did I know, they had the cutest toys and books ever! I bought my son (3 years old) music instruments and it kept him so entertained in his hospital bed. And for my two year old, I got her a sketch book and the coolest crayons/markers ever. I also got my mom a really cute "thank you" card. I'll be visiting Charlotte again soon, and I will be back to get books and def more crayons because I can't find them anywhere else but here. sn: they have a variety of children's book with great representation

This is a great place to visit to find unique gifts for any occasion. They have a great selection of Charlotte-specific merchandise ranging from books, art, and many other items. If you go now, plan on a little more time because they are usually full of people around this time. Parking is limited but there are spaces in the Thai Taste side as well. I've been happy for all of my purchases and customer service is great. I was there recently and overheard and in-depth conversation about locating coffee cups with specific letters on them so bring your questions and pick up something unique for anyone on your shopping list!

Perfection! I finally had a chance to stop by to check out this store & I can say without a doubt, it blew me away! It’s packed with paper lovers dream products like stationary, exquisite wrapping paper, unique greeting cards & inspirational books & even gorgeous coffee table books. They even stock my favorite Dock & Bay 100% recycled (quick dry) towels. Let’s not forget the children’s section & a some really cool stuff for the guys in your life, home products, too! You absolutely must check out this store the next time you are in the South End area. It’s really close by & so worth the visit!

This is my second time, in this store so I decided to do a review. The Skyscraper has been around Charlotte for sometime. I hidden treasure for the locals and travellers. In fact, while the store, I heard two couples speaking French. I took pictures that are the oblivious store displays but saw some interesting items for the home, car and personal uses. Oh, yes the books on Charlotte. I picked up a guide of places to go around Charlotte. There is one for the Carolinas. Stop on by and support one of Charlotte's few places that remembers Charlotte then and now.

So many fun things to look at, some from the Charlotte or Carolinas area. They have a wide variety of gifts from wine glasses and travel cups, towels with funny or slightly naughty phrases, bar accessories, cocktail mixes, jewelery, clay succulent sculptures, lotions, crazy socks, games...I could go on!!! It's a great local store!! They controlled the crowd as it was busy right before Christmas and it's a small store. It was still quite cramped, but had they not controlled the crowd, it wouldn't have been safe. I would definitely go back!

This is one of my favorite go to places for unique gifts. They carry lots of Charlotte themed items and local made gift. They have Lots of wonderful stationary for sending cards, gift wrap, and calendars. They also have a section with unique children's books and toys. Other sections in the store include cooking, birding, architecture, jewelry, candles and personal bathroom care, tea drinkers, alcohol drinkers, and inspirational. It's small but jam packed with fun stuff, plan to spend 30 minutes minimum looking through everything

I ordered several items to create a Christmas gift box to send to family in California. The process online was easy to select local NC products. I called and spoke with a very helpful young lady that assured me that it would be arranged nicely by their team. I’ve always wanted to stop in and support this business and now I’m really going to have to stop in. Super helpful and I’m excited for my family member to receive this NC inspired gift in just a few days. I received the shipping confirmation one day later!

This is by far one of my favorite shops in Charlotte. To start, the folks that work here are so warm, inviting, friendly, and helpful. I also LOVE the sweet pup that roams the store. This is my go to place for local gifts of any kind, as well as unique and fun games, socks, cards, candles, scarves, hats, books, coasters, towels, kitchen utensils, etc. they have such a variety of trinkets and gifts for just about anyone! This is where I send anyone looking for Charlotte and North Carolina gifts. What a gem!!!

Having lived in Charlotte nearly half my life, this was my first time going to the Paper Skyscraper. I don’t know why I hadn’t gone sooner! It’s a whirlwind of books, ceramics, bespoke cards and a fantastic place to go for gifts with a personal touch. Prices seem pretty fair, there are some things that are over priced in my opinion, but the are few and far between. The staff was so friendly, and even with the amount of items crammed into the store, it only made it feel more cozy.

  • Tristan Harward

What a great store. Every time I walk in I find something new that’s really interesting. Their selections and recommendations are truly well picked and I love the architecture and design topic focus in the front of the store, there are so many great books featured and you can tell whomever picked them out really loves the subject. That and of course all their gifts, trinkets, and home decor are delightful. Support your local book shop and don’t miss this one!

  • Sonia Perez

This is Charlotte's premier gift store! A Charlotte 'institution', filled with gorgeous, practical and impractical gifts that bring a smile and will please the receiver. They have a fabulous collection or architectural books, design and gardening books and art books worth a visit. This place is located in Historic Dilworth a short distance from the Lynx station on the South and East Blvd intersection. And it is adjacent to the wonderful Thai Taste Rest.

  • Donna Backshall

If you are looking for a unique shop offering everything Charlotte and North Carolina, including other good quality gift items from candles to books + puzzles to funny socks, Paper Skyscraper is a fantastic choice. I won't complain about the lack of parking or the crowding around the Christmas holidays, because these are also a huge part of the Charlotte culture and experience. If you live there, you know. And if you are visiting, now you know too!

  • Steven Rogers

I purchased an apology card today and when I went to the register to check out the cashier asked me "What did you do?" I shamefully responded "I don't want to say" I left the store feeling more awful than when I came in. A store cashier shouldn't ask such personal questions especially when it's clearly negative. I shouldn't be made to feel additional judgement or shame from someone who's nosey and inconsiderate.

  • Eva Zdepski

Great place to shop! Whether you run in to pick up a quick gift for someone or take time and wander through the store for yourself, you're sure to find something unique. Paper Skyscraper has a nice variety of books, candles, art work, items for the kitchen, toys and so much more. The employees are friendly and helpful. They also have hand cleaner dispensers located throughout the store for customers.

  • Maggie Reeves

This store is so unique and awesome. Need a gift for someone? You'll definitely find something here for anyone in your life. The range of items they have is staggering. Beautiful art, jewelry, kitchen gadgets, games, desk trinkets, and kids' toys-- just to name a FEW. They have lots of books and home stuff too. I have been here many times, and will be back many times.

  • Joshua Beauregard

If you're claustrophobic, maybe go in here at a quiet time. There's so much to look at - and much of it is unique in comparison to box stores - but it's absolutely packed with product. We ultimately didn't buy anything, but it's because I lost my ability to breathe and hightailed it outta there because I felt overwhelmed by tight aisles and humans.

  • Jessamyn Moxie

This is one of my local gift idea spots. Great Charlotte-focused shirts, cups, cards etc but also some local food items. Ornament selection is amazing. It’s not cheap but it is a huge selection. Note that the store is packed with things and when it’s a holiday or the weekend, it can be sensory overload (I happen to love perusing it slowly)

  • Rachel Wall

This is such a cute shop! There are tons of gifts, cards, games, novelties, mugs, etc. So much stuff. Every employee was so kind and helpful and took time to say hi, even though it was crazy busy. If you're shopping around Christmas time, the store feels a little more cramped, but it's still worth stopping in for a few unique goodies.

  • Jane

What a great little shop this is! Filled with unique gifts, Charlotte-themed trinkets, cards, tea specialties, and a nice book selection. This is the kind of shop you can spend hours in just browsing and having a good time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, too. Hands down the best and most original shop in Charlotte!

  • Jenny Yee

If you're looking for unique, artistic gifts, books and cards, this might become one of your favorite local shops. It's certainly one of mine. I was struggling to find a few last minute holiday gifts until I stopped here. I love visiting this store for fun and inspiration. By the way, the recipients loved their gifts.

  • Adriana Laser

Wow! Overwhelming gift shop! It goes on&on... which helps you find the best gift for everyone on your list& a bunch who you weren't thinking of, plus something for yourself. But be careful, it really adds up! Has items for pet lovers, kids, beachy folk, holidays, local candles, Gardners, lots of wrapping paper, etc!

  • Amy Kausch

I really liked the store, the owners and the beautiful dog running around the store. However, I will not be back. Whatever tyrants that are running the store right now have ruined it for me. They were extremely rude unhelpful and very unprofessional! I will spend my money elsewhere. Makes me sad.

  • Stefanie Brunner

LOVE THIS PLACE! I allow myself at least an hour to look around at the cool gifts, check out the books, and to read the greeting cards. I can always find one-of-a-kind gifts here. It's a one-stop shop....cards, unusual gifts, and nice gift bags for wrapping it all up!
