'Detailed' is the word to use when describing the menu functions of Pa'la. Though Pa'la mentions wood-fired grill, you will discover much more when eating here. Part of the discovery lies in the understanding of how and why their menu changes so frequently. They select foods that are going to be at their peak, as many foods have seasons or times of the year where their flavor and mouthfeel may be higher. The freshness of the foods selected is evident, cooked in high quality extra virgin olive oil (I have to keep reminding myself that it is known as EVOO for short, lol.) When visiting, I noticed the high prices on the menu, but our server explained about the process by which the food is sourced and cooked. Well worth the visit. I asked about gluten free options, and the server was extremely confident about how most menu options could be made gluten-free. It can be difficult for restaurants to coordinate allergen awareness and train their staff, this restaurant takes pride in their employees knowledge. The beef tartare, Japanese sweet potato, and pork belly were ordered. Many of the menu options are served in tapas style, so the foods were shared. I arrived hungry, but left feeling full. One thing is certain, each bite should be carefully taken, take the time to feel what the food tastes like, and savor the experience. You will leave satisfied and fulfilled.

Its been a few weeks so i will get some things wrong or it might not be there anymore. Honestly the food was delicious. Fresh fish, mocktails with housemate fococia, the fish of the day, the crudo, the broccolini, THE DESSERT. We almost didn't get dessert due to being full off the first few plates we gotten. But we were pleased with every single dish, a sensation for the taste buds and experience like no other I'd ever had. The kitchen is on point and I look forward to going back. With the live music , knowledgeable waiter that was ready to explain and help, the bartender who made a wonderful mocktail with just a description of 'fruity and sweet', every dish being something I'd never tasted before with flavors my tongue savored with delight. Our waiter told us that we would be experiencing something different and he was not lying. The FLAN AND CHEESECAKE. Wow. Go off. I feel privileged being able to taste such an exquisite combination of different kinds of sweet that matches so well. It was a perfect end to the meal.

The ambiance is great and the upstairs is definitely the spot to be. On the weekends they have live music and a great outdoor patio. The only reason I have to give this place 4 stars was the service unfortunately. We were at by the hostess and were not greeted for over 10 minutes. The waiter was very slow to tend to us and when he did he was always in a hurry and would scurry off and it was very hard to grab his attention for am additional drink or a side. Unfortunately other servers were having to help us. The salmon and shishito appetizer was amazing as was the side of squash. We had both pasta dishes and shared them and they were underwhelming. The steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We had the New York. Where this restaurant shines is in their drinks. We tried several different t ones and they were all fantastic. However my favorite is one not on the menu. Grab the whiskey sour New York style and you won't be disappointed. Google is accurate with the pricing as our bill ran 300 dollars for three people with 1 appetizer 1 side 1 salad 3 menu items and 4 drinks

Loved every moment of this dinning experience. Great place for a date night and the jazz music was amazing. Details of this space was incredible - the food, the wine pairing and service from Pablo was exceptional. Pablo shared intent and DNA of Pa’La and covered details of the menu. As Pa’La means “for the people” - love this soo much. Personally it’s amazing to know life is experienced when in community and who we share it with. So with that in mind - sharing a meal is highly refreshing. We had about 5 small plates to start with and then ended with an outstanding steak and brussel sprouts. Sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts and steak stood out most from all our choices. A couple of suggestions - make reservations for second floor lounge and enjoy sharing plates with others for best experience. Didn’t get a chance to taking any photos of the food - wanted to be present since it was a date night.

Just opened 6 months ago and I hope you are here to stay!! Had such a wonderful experience with great drinks, food and service. The charcuterie board, drinks, pizza and atmosphere could make you feel like you travel to Italy. Not overwhelming menu, simple yet taste food. Appetizers, pizza, sandwiches, salads and veggies. Cool inviting, comfortable and romantic sitting areas upstairs and downstairs. Many options to capture that picture perfect. As far as food we tried Tapas scallops and roasted mushroom pizza which was cook to perfection. Thin with kinda leopard-spotting crunchy crust and a lovely golden brown color with mushrooms and pepperoni that tasted devine. For drinks I had Greek paloma which is more of a day time refreshing drink an a Not-so Negroni which is more of an evening stronger flavorful drink (my favorite) Although some items can be a bit expensive $18 for two scallops I like to think that my experience and flavor was worth the price. Such a great addition to our downtown Phoenix. Grazie per una bella esperienza!! We will be back!

We felt the atmosphere was very good, the staff was welcoming and professional, live jazz music was very nice, but the menu was lacking and pricey. As for individuals that have been to Spain numerous times, we were disappointed. The combination of Spain and Japan is quite odd We felt the menu lacked a lot of traditional Spanish tapas and nowhere did we see on the menu empanada? Tapa portions were ridiculously small. Happy hour wine selections were basic, tapas selection unappealing even though we ordered three and only liked the hummus board. Olive oil bread was salty :/ They advertise cocktails at $10 for happy hour but when you order one off the cocktail menu they state they aren't part of the happy hour menu? I don't feel we would go back for happy hour or dinner food options, but would return for well drinks as they were good. But again, they were not a happy hour price but a normal price you pay anywhere as a well drink.

This new location of Pa'la is in a beautiful space in Downtown Phoenix. The fare here is fresh, savory, complex and well balanced. The pricing is excellent for the quality of food you recieve. The standouts were the sea bream crudo (refreshing, tangy, delightful), the veggie sandwich (crisp, savory, light), and the yaki niku skewers (rich, indulgent, satisfying), though we enjoyed every one of the nine dishes we tried. Additionally, the cocktails we had were citrusy, tangy and perfectly sweet, a lovely chilled accompaniment to the meal, and we ended on a sweet note with the pot de creme (rich, multi faceted, shareable), and my personal favorite, the apricot sweet. This refreshing confection paired a lovely vanilla ice cream with house made spiced cookie crumble and fresh apricots. Do yourself a favor and drop on by. If you enjoy fresh, high quality foods, I can't imagine you won't enjoy it!!

We spent 100 dollars for reservations for NYE. Came from the symphony and then for some good food. The problem was, they were out of 5 different food options. Got an appetizer. Delicious. My girlfriend and I both then tried to order our dinner. They were out of both. Fine, things happen. The waitress came back, tried to order two new things. Both of them out. It's a restaurant, your whole thing is food. Made reservations, paid upfront, and there is only 3 things for the main course? So then, I'm guessing, a manager came and tried to convince us to order something else. Not happening. The waitress was great, management was straight trash, and they took our 100 reservation fee when we ate only a small appetizer. I want to like this place and I hope your journey there is better. But damn, completely garbage service for us.

I had the anchovies, pork belly, hummus, shrimp entree, the sweet potato, and the Brussel sprouts. While everything was excellent, the pork belly is on another level. I highly recommend getting this, found in the tapas section of the menu. The hummus was basically hummus, the pickled vegetables/peppers were a great addition. The shrimp entree was great, albeit a bit low on calories for the price of the plate, but I was not disappointed. Absolutely killer martini from the waitress that entertained the specific requests on mixing the cocktail. I felt very accommodated and the service was excellent.

Definitely recommend the upstairs lounge on a Friday night for a romantic evening out with live jazz music. ❤️ Service, ambiance, music, vibes: alll GREAT. Food: Good. We tried the octopus appetizer, lobster risotto, wine, cocktails, and espressos at the end. Server and kitchen were very accommodating and knowledgeable of gluten-free options. Seating: Grab some stools at the full-service bar for a last minute decision to stop by. Or plan ahead and reserve a table. The band is set-up near the balcony, in case you want to request a table closer to the music. Dress: Upscale casual. There were some beautiful dresses worn and smart slacks. Didn't see anyone in shorts and flip-flops.

Only complaint is small portion sizes. The food was very delicious. The atmosphere is great. Drinks were great. Plan on making reservations to ensure you get a table. The large ice cube in drinks is imprinted with the restaurant name, which is a nice upscale touch. I ordered the scallops for $38, and it comes with 3 scallops. The ribs for $32 are a half rack. Both were delicious, just not satisfying to a normal appetite, which mine is normally smaller than restaurant portions. Ordered a side of polenta which was good too, but again very small. I had to go eat after leaving, which after paying almost $150 for dinner for two and one drink each, I would prefer to not still be hungry.

Just go! You won't regret it! The food here is exquisite, tasty, and superb. The live music is very relaxing and not too loud which is great for catching up with friends or family. For dessert we had the panna cotta and chocolate mousse which were delicious. The panna cotta is unforgettable! You can really pick anything on the menu here and know it will be delicious. Service is friendly, attentive, and love how they take pride in the dishes they serve and how knowledgeable they are. Compliments to all the staff for being so professional, caring, and taking pride in the food that is served here. All of that really translates to an amazing experience. I cannot express just how AMAZING this experience was for my husband and I!!!! The food was so delicious and our server, Jason, was great! Our first time here and he explained everything to us (with his own recommendations) and checked up on us frequently enough that we knew he was paying attention, but not so much that we got interrupted at all. We highly recommend the octopus, scallops, pork belly and the flan. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and accommodating, including a suggestion of a mocktail since we don't drink alcohol. It was the perfect date night restaurant!

Pa’La was such a fantastic find! My husband and I stumbled onto it during a staycation downtown. The space is beautifully designed with an outdoor seating area, big open window by the bar and a fun upstairs area with live music on the weekends. We opted for the the chefs dinner and were delighted with each course that came out. Some of the best seafood dishes I’ve had in Phoenix! Each course was well balanced with flavor and beautifully plated. Service was also top notch! Everyone from the hostess to the bartender was friendly. I will definitely be coming back for more!

This restaurant is 10/10. My boyfriend and I visited for my birthday dinner and they made us feel so special and attended to. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was able to offer a wonderful wine. Can't wait to go back to see what else their chefs come up with! I always prefer from-scratch and wood fired places that prepare food organically and cook it naturally. PaLa was no exception. Phenomenal choices of food. A few in my business party helped enjoy this 4 lb Japanese fish (exact name I cannot recall). the white meat underneath the wood fired skin was cooked perfectly, had delicious flavors and was so soft and melted in your mouth. I would highly recommend this for parties of three or four if you're into seafood. Service was beyond amazing and very explanatory of every dish. I will definitely be back at this place next time I'm in Phoenix

Unreal that I used to go "clubbing" at this spot back in the day before this was tastefully transformed to a restaurant. Everything that we had was so yummy! We got the eggplant, New York strip steak, a whole snapper, and a yuzu tart for dessert. The eggplant was really good even for those that have an issue with texture like my husband. Steak was tender and cooked perfectly. And the fish. Oh my. Sooooo good!! Nevermind that it was 95$. It was grilled perfectly and oh so very flavorful! I finished the whole thing! Probably one of the best prepared whole fish I've had here in America!

This place truly deserves a Michelin star. The plates were like nothing I’ve ever seen before and the service at every point of the night was phenomenal. They are putting twists to some traditional dishes and they have the wine pairings to go along with any meal you are having. Our server was kind enough to also provide us with some recommendations for speakeasy’s in the area for after our meal. Oh and they also have music on the weekends upstairs. The vibe upstairs is lush and intimate. Highly recommended

The service was what stood out the most. It was incredible service. Every dish was explained and the server was very attentive and always checking on us. The portions are tapas style…very small unless you get specific dishes. We ordered the pork belly, octopus, pasta with lamb ragú, and sweet potatoes. The pork belly, sweet potatoes, and pasta with lamb ragú were delicious. The octopus I wouldn’t get again. We enjoyed but not sure we’d return. It’s just too expensive for the portions. The plates are much smaller than how they look in the photos.

This place is so delicious! The ambiance is very romantic, and the service is impeccable. Everything I've ever eaten here has been beyond flavorful. I love the octopus, the Japanese sweet potato, the lamb, and the pork. So the food comes family style to the table, which makes the experience fun and interactive. I get so excited when I have friends visit, and I get to take them there on a Friday when they have live jazz. You really can't beat this place. It's a winner every time!!!

Dinner for 2. Service was excellent. Food was a mix bag, but overall, an 8/10. Had the Toothfish, pork chops & octopus with a side of some heavenly tasting sweet potatoes (seriously considering getting a job here so I can steal the receipe for those potatoes) Everything tasted great. Lamb jobs were medium rare ( something to do with being sourced from local farmers and therefore being safe for consumption) but we just couldn’t get past the fact that this was pork, and it wasn’t safe for consumption. Kudus to the hosts for taking it off the bill once the observed we barely touched it.

Pa’la is one of my favorite places to eat in Phoenix. My boyfriend and I come all the time. The staff is amazing and the food is good and reasonably priced. They also have good cocktails. Many restaurants in Phoenix charge a lot for low quality / mediocre food and drinks. Pa’la is legit good. For example, we recently went to Sel in Scottsdale and spent 500 bucks on okayish food and blah cocktails. We have pretty high dining standards and have dined at many places.

Pleasant experience from start to finish! We opted to sit upstairs in the lounge area so we could listen to some jazz! Great decision . Music set the stage for a nice evening . Meals were meant to be shared . Came out one by one with ample time for sharing, eating and cocktails ! All make for a pleasant romantic evening . Every dish was prepared well and certainly delicious. Service was smooth and attentive . Well with the price ! Only down fall was they did not have one of the courses on the menu which left us to change up a menu item.

All in all, this place is 5 stars. The staff alone takes this place to another level. They were so honest and upbeat that it made the whole time there better. The food was also a home run. I got the ribeye and one of the most tender steaks I had to date. Just melted in your mouth. Only setback was when I hit my table it was lukewarm. Not really piping hot like I wanted. However the flavor was there and it made up for it. $200 later the dinner was a success.

Atmosphere for dining was pleasant and our waiter was knowledgeable. Small portions for price point were a bit greedy. Kumamoto oysters were a great start. Pork belly was delicious and so was the Japanese sweet potatoes. I recommend these. Pappardelle pasta $28 was ok but disappointingly tiny portion and served a bit cold. Miso Blue nose fillet $32 was heavy on the vinegar and soured the taste.

Worst steak ever. Find somewhere else to eat, so many better places downtown than Pa'La. PLEASE! Stay away from the chimichurri (so they call it) thier salt, onion, garlic, and olive oil concoction is not a chimichurri. It ruined my entire meal, experience, and night. We stopped in for a quick bite and were blown away. The polenta was amazing with grilled shrimp cooked perfectly. The scallops we perfect!! Sauce was amazing. Definitely worth a visit
The food is unique and great - and the service even better if possible! Their happy hour is so worth it for trying out the tapas. More
WOW WOW WOW! The tapas and every dish that we had were out of this world good! Our server Anna was amazing! Highly recommend!
First time dining here. Overall not worth the price, though we still enjoyed most of the meal.
