My family doctor suggested I go to One Step Ahead Mobility for physio: chronic pain in upper back, neck, and lower back. Since her referrals are always excellent, I followed up. Vivien Nguyen (Administration) was my first contact with the clinic. Within seconds, I knew I was in safe hands. Vivien asked very smart, focused and highly relevant questions. She was also reassuring and efficient. Within two weeks (lightning speed, post-pandemic), I had my first appointment with Kasra Mirhosseini, Orthopaedic Physiotherapist. Kasra is a brilliant clinician. His initial assessment was incredibly perceptive and thorough, even surpassing the diagnosis that brought me to the clinic in the first place. With patience, clarity and compassion, he explained why I was in pain and how we’d work together to fix it. I soon discovered that Kasra’s unlike any physio I’ve gone to before. He not only has a Degree in Physiotherapy (Iran), he also has a Master’s Degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine (United Kingdom). He’s so highly trained and experienced, he can work in multiple modalities, including soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, dry needling and more. Quietly and expertly, he moves from one modality to the next, as required, within each of my sessions. Today, thanks to Kasra’s wisdom, skill and consistency, my pain is slowly and gently dissolving. I’ve even had days when I’m pain-free! I’m also learning to support his physio — and my overall fitness — with appropriate home exercises, as taught by Jamal Red, Physiotherapist Assistant. The joy of training with Jamal is that he’s also highly skilled. (Jamal studied physiotherapy, in the Philippines, before he came to Canada.) His in-depth knowledge of how bodies move, and how to restore function, inspires confidence in all that he teaches. He is patient, kind and calm. Each session, he slowly models or adapts every single exercise to make sure I’m doing things properly before I go home. He also makes sure I don’t overdo it (a cause of some of my injuries, in the past). Like clockwork, after each session, Jamal also emails printed instructions and video links for that day’s lesson. Invaluable instruction and support. It’s now nearly two months that I’ve been going to One Step Ahead Mobility. Vivien Nguyen is as terrific as ever. Amanda Haupt (Clinic Manager & Client Liaison) is also a steady, welcoming and highly professional presence. Time and again, I’ve observed her greeting people and putting them at ease, the minute they walk in the door. She remembers everyone’s name and, no matter how busy she is, Amanda always takes time to say ‘hello’ or ‘good bye’ and speak with every single patient, family member or caregiver. In all this time, I’ve never waited more than five minutes for my appointments. Everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Receipts are emailed immediately after sessions; appointment reminders arrive by email days before; and best of all, they send lists of all future appointments, so it’s easy to plan around upcoming sessions. There’s even free parking. I’m profoundly grateful that my family doctor referred me to One Step Ahead Mobility. Heartfelt thanks to Kasra, Jamal, Vivien, Amanda, and to clinic owners Rebecca Zaidlin and Jan Goldstein Elman.

So I've got Parkinson's. Bummer. But it doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. Let the sun in with One Step Ahead Mobility and Sunhan (Sun) Anderson. With great patience and fun too, Sun will take you through the paces. Simple steps repeated using varying methods help to 'retrain' your body easing your physical movement, for me especially it has been a great improvement, since one week after meeting Sun I fell and broke my hip. Again I was able to shake off despair replacing it with hope, as Sun expertly reworked my program to fit my new needs. Of course I am only human and not all my days are sunshine and lollipops. And on those darker days Sun proved her name. Her compassion is a palpable thing, felt in her eyes and in her words and in her very aspect. Not to say she is a pushover. I can still hear her chastening me "Kathy you can do better". And I can and I will. So thank you One Step Ahead Mobility for making me feel welcome. From reception with Amanda and Vivien to the personal care extended to me, and especially for Sun and her particular brand of shine. Sincerely, Kathy Falzon

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 18 years ago. During this journey I have met a lot of people. Once I decided to go through the DBS surgery, I had the opportunity to receive physiotherapy form One Step Ahead. Since I crossed the door, everybody was welcoming. Rebeca and her tear team are the most kind and supportive people I have ever met. I began with no expectations at all as I was doing well after the surgery. Step by step and exercise by exercise I noticed a lot of benefits and improvements in my mobility. I improved my balance, my walking became steadier, and my chores at home are not as difficult as before. Most important of all, I can play with my grandsons again. I recommend One Step Ahead to anyone with no hesitation at all. Thanks for your help!

I was referred to One Step Ahead Mobility post-DBS surgery for Parkinson's. Although no one had ever mentioned physio for PD to me before, I went in with an open mind. At the assessment, walker in hand, I met Rebecca who understood my challenges and fears with PD. Thanks to her great patience, knowledge, and experience, I am able to walk with very little aid and more confidence. I am now able to do things for myself more regularly and am grateful to have regained some independence. Rebecca made this journey very fun and painless. I would like to thank Rebecca and her talented team. A special shout-out to Vivien and Amanda who always welcomed me with a great smile and a little chat every time. I highly recommend One Step Ahead Mobility for anyone with PD.

I would like to sincerely thank the entire team at One Step Ahead Mobility for their assistance in my journey towards wellness. The entire staff at the front desk were always so professional, prompt and polite when welcoming me to my physio sessions and attending to any questions and e-mails. A special thank you to my physiotherapist (Sun) who was always supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable. She was able to determine the proper exercises and stretches to assist me in my journey of improved mobility. Thank you sincerely Sun. I would highly recommend anyone to seek out your assistance in their path to improved mobility and wellness.

One Step Ahead is a professional clinic. The staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful, and take care to ensure the health and safety of their patients. I hurt my knee while jogging on my treadmill. I was referred to Kassra who identified the cause of the pain and assured me that, with treatment and his prescribed exercises, I would be able to get back on to the treadmill. At each session Kassra checked on my healing progress, worked on my knee, and continued to encourage me to continue to do my exercises. Thanks to Kassra and his colleague Loana, I am now back on my treadmill and making good progress.

I have had 3 series of physiotherapy treatments with Kasra at One Step Ahead Mobility in the past 2 years: femoral leg nerve pain, neck pain and inflammation of the knee. He is terrific and the clinic is very well organized and friendly. Kasra determined the source of my injuries very quickly and started immediate treatment. He knows exactly what he is doing, very efficient and when useful sets up online exercises for self treatment between sessions. My experience with Kasra and the clinic have been first class. The clinic is well set up for booking appointments and giving reminders.

I have Ataxia and I recently did a 3 week long physio "bootcamp." I can do movements now which I coudn't do before! Admittedly, I was somewhat distaught about the diagnosis. I did not know much about the disease, or it's progression. I still don't. What I achieved when I worked with Rebecca, was a sense of hope, and that was worth every penny. I've been fortunate to have worked with some of the best coaches in the world and Rebecca is right up there; she's very talented. The entire Team made me feel very welcome, comfortable and supported. Thanks to all!

My husband has been going to One Step Ahead for Physio with Aviva and Sun for the past year and a half. He has been diagnosed with a Parkinsonism condition. The attention he gets is amazing. They are very supportive to myself as well. It is a place recommended by the Drs. at the Movement Disorder Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital with good reason. We look forward to each week as it is such a friendly helpful atmosphere with someone keeping an eye on my husband's progress. I recommend this facility highly. Elaine and Harris

I am so thrilled with One Step Ahead Mobility! My physiotherapist Kasra is the absolute best! He is very knowledgeable, kind, friendly, helpful, caring and available. He has helped bring me back to almost my pre Achilles tendinitis surgery state in just a few months. I love the PhysiApp that is available so I don’t have to remember every exercise when I’m at home. The front desk staff are always kind, friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend One Step Ahead Mobility!

Marija Radenovic was a wonderful physiotherapist to work with, quickly understanding my abilities and building a plan that would ensure I'd recover and gain back the strength I needed in the shortest time possible. The facilities and tools at our disposal and her knowledge of how best to use them for my healing was greatly appreciated. It was truly a pleasure working with someone who was so professional, compassionate, and who would challenge me. Thank you Marija!

  • Negin Tadayyon

I just started my treatment with Kasra after 6 months of being in pain for a pain that was not diagnosed! As soon as I saw Kasra, I felt the trust that he is going to be a person who helps me after so many failure visits with so many doctors. Although I am probably not the best patient since I complain so much every single time, he might be the best physiotherapist I've ever had!

  • Mahmood Hosseini

Professional, and friendly clinicians! This was my first time receiving care from One step ahead mobility after an injury and the thorough assessment and treatment process strongly supported me in a quick recovery. Just started attending physio at the clinic, but have been impressed from the start. Well-organized and the facility is kept clean and looks professional. The staff are all very helpful too. Difficult times because of the pandemic, but everybody seems very conscientious and they make you feel safe.
