Nationwide Accounting Keep a close eye on their work or, better still, find another accountant. I would not recommend these guys at all. I used Nationwide accounting for my 18/19 tax return and was disappointed to find my return was much lower than I expected but trusted that the details I provided had been used. I sought out a different accountant for my 19/20 tax return based on the fact that I knew I should’ve received a higher return and general dissatisfaction with Nationwide's service. It was the new, competent accountant that picked up the glaring error that Nationwide had committed on my previous return. Long story short-they had submitted educational expenses far below what I had presented them with, seemingly making up an arbitrary number, more than $8000 less than my actual expenses. I’m happy to admit that mistakes can be made so requested a review with the accountant responsible and this is where my real problem with their service lies. Instead of admitting fault the accountant declared that I “must not have brought this (receipt) in”. I know for a fact that this isn’t the case, and so does he. I’m not likely to forget $8000 in a hurry. Instead of an apology, he offered to rectify the problem at a price. I refused to pay because I fail to see the logic in paying extra to the person who made the error in order for him to fix it 12 months later. Perhaps this is Nationwide’s business model? By making customers return to rectify mistakes made by their accountants they can bump up their bottom line. My advice is find yourself a more competent accountant. Nationwide, feel free to contact me with an offer to fix your mistakes. You’ve already charged me for last year’s return though so don’t expect any further payment.

Going in to see them, everything seemed to go well and would've given them a high rating if not for what happened about 2 weeks later. My return hadn't come in yet so I checked the status on myGov and it showed that my tax hadn't been lodged so I called the ATO and they said they haven't received it and to call my tax agent for them to contact the ATO which I did and received a call back ftom Nationwide, after they spoke with the ATO saying it was lodged after my appointment with them and everything is now sorted and that I should receive my return soon as it had been almost 2 weeks. The day after the 2 weeks from my appointment had passed I checked again on myGov for it to show that my tax had only been lodged on the day I called the ATO and Nationwide had spoken to them to sort it out. Seeing as what happened it leads me to believe that had I not checked the status of my tax return and called the ATO I would've been left thinking my tax had been lodged. Now I know there is the possibility that it could be the ATO at fault and if that proves to be the case Nationwide has my deepest apologies and I will change my rating here ASAP
