The ambience of the gallery is fantastic. There is almost no noise in the surroundings thereby making the experience very serene. The first thing that comes to mind is the display. I visited during the Chiselled exhibition which was based on several sculptures done by female artists. The display of those sculptures were fantastic. The lighting, the sense of negative space to perfectly experience the sculpture were immaculate. Apart from that, in the other wing, several paintings were displayed which I believe is always ongoing and not a special exhibition. There were paintings from the Bengal School of Art which is one of my favorite art movements. Modern artworks were the majority as is the name. Some of the artworks were huge and aptly displayed allowing you to view them at your own pace. There is an affordable shop near the entrance where you can buy prints. There is also a nice simple cafe. There is an auditorium where events are held now and then. Now for some drawbacks. Firstly, the display being as fantastic as it is, the captions which included the artwork details and the artists' names were very small and most of them were very difficult to find in the lowly lit spaces. I counted at least 3-4 artworks which didn't have any captions so we were unable to know anything about the artist's names. This was a major negative point during the visit which I mentioned in the feedback book present near the entrance to the halls. Secondly, there were no catalogues which we could refer to while viewing the ongoing exhibition as well as the regular exhibition of the modern art paintings. Therefore we could only note down the names of the artworks and artists, about whom we didn't know much, to search for them later on from the web. The listening app is not very helpful as it doesn't have the specific artworks present in the actual exhibition gallery, thereby it is kind of useless in terms of this specific exhibition. The website also doesn't have any information catalogue for the exhibitions. Things you can't do inside the gallery: No videos and selfies please! You may take photos of the artworks preferably without the use of a flash. Please don't make a chaos inside as the ambience is very peaceful as is required to view and understand such pieces of art. Overall it was a fantastic experience but the drawbacks kept us looking for more information about the excellent pieces of art we just viewed.

The NGMA presents a wonderful opportunity to spend time in a place that is tranquil, opulent, welcoming, and steeped in history! The entry fee is affordable, and the exhibit is alluring. You'll find everything from paintings, to sculptures, to etchings, to vintage photographs, to podcasts! All of these artifacts, are presented within a historic structure; which with striking white pillars and beautiful balconies, sharply beacons the bygone British era into the present. This bungalow, with its high ceilings, ornate floor tiles, numerous balconies, aged trees, gorgeous wood accents and intricate detail, is as alluring as the art it enhouses. Inside, are pieces from various artists, with enough detail to appreciate the exhibit, without the need for a guide. The entire exhibit also makes you feel involved with the art, with numerous pieces displayed at eye level or lower. They also don't have ropes and barriers that make you feel like you're not worthy of the art you're here to perceive and appreciate. That being said, touching and being careless around the art is (definitely) not allowed. There are imposing sculptures that range from the abstract to the obvious, and some of them so vivid that they seem to await a reaction from you. Some paintings and sketches will make you stop and think; and other sculptures will make you walk away, confronted by the depiction of the horrors we humans are capable of. No matter the type of person you are, if enter with even the slightest bit of curiosity, you will leave with a multitude of feelings. Shock, awe, intrigue, confusion, fascination, revelation, disinterest, repulsion, question, doubt, amusement, admiration... And whatever it is you feel, you'll know that it is worth more than what you paid to walk in. And if even thinking about art gets you're drier than the Saharan desert, then come for the beautiful house that will make for a jaw-dropping backdrop to your Instagram-ready selfies. And while you're there, you can walk through the halls of beautiful bungalow, wondering: What does any one need so many rooms for? How did they clean those high high ceilings? And how you found so much peace and quiet smack-dab-in-the-middle of traffic-ridden Bengaluru! And if all of this is not your cup of tea; the cafe has good coffee.

The National Gallery of Modern Art is a Bangalore art gallery. It was officially opened in 2009. It exhibits modern Indian art and houses works by Raja Ravi Verma, Jamini Roy, Amrita Sher-Gil, Rabindranath Tagore, and many other modern and contemporary artists. The NGMA Bengaluru, which has an auditorium, a public art reference library, a restaurant, and a museum store cum facilitation block, aspires to become a nexus of art activity and a major cultural destination in Bengaluru. Throughout the year, the gallery arranges and presents talks on art and culture by lecturers, seminars, film screenings, workshops, and guided walks. The new exhibition space is fantastic, especially the light wells, which add a moody dramatic impact to the perpetual show halls. It's a great example of adaptive reuse in architecture, and I wish there were more of them. The tickets are relatively cheap, and I was able to get in for free because of a weekly offer. There is also a cafe with tasty meals. There are also more than three courtyards that allow nature to enter the views, showcasing the sunlight, vegetation shadows, and so on. A fantastic destination for architecture and art students alike. Tickets can be purchased at the entry gate beginning at 11 AM. Students under the age of 18 are admitted for free. Visitors pay ₹20, while foreigners pay ₹500. You will be given lockers to store your possessions, and at the entrance, you will notice exquisite wooden carved jewelry boxes, as well as actual paintings. As you progress, you will notice various artworks and sculptures. Because it is not maintained, no one notices the Mirror Lake. And the copper automobile, which was my favorite there. The staff is quite pleasant and courteous. You are not permitted to take photographs in the first two hallways since the paintings and jewelry boxes are real and will be maintained. And the canteen on the inside is excellent.

A beautiful place where Maharati's paintings and other artefacts have been show cased in a pretty old building but we'll maintained. The whole place is spread over acres of land and the building is in the centre and surrounded by lush green trees and plants and lawns with stone carvings kept to enhance the beauty of the place. Tickets for Indian Nationals is Rs 20 whereas it is Rs 500 for foreign nationals. There are four galleries spread over ground floor and first floor. Lighting is good and the cool AC keeps the people pleasant. Maharati's personal belongings are also kept there. One can take individual photos of the exhibited pics but no videos are allowed and no combined photo of the displayed pics is allowed. Guards are there in each floor to guide and check people coming to watch the paintings. It takes one hour to see everything in detail. Each pic is explained. Covid19 protocol strictly followed. Temperature is checked and sanitizer kept in handy. It's located on palace road ️ and there's ample place for parking. Wheelchair access to ground floor is there but not to the first floor. The greenery adds beauty to the whole place. Police too are placed to monitor nothing untoward happens. The paintings are more than 5 to 7 decades old and have been preserved extremely well. In one portion the painting was left out perhaps. All important personality have been painted. Worth the money for painters especially.

#Incredible India #अतुल्यभारत This place is incredibly amazing and peaceful, just you have to devote yourself to get the placid vibes. Well art is present both inside as well as outside of the complex. Artwork of the great painters like Sanjitha Shankar, Amrita Shergill, MF Hussain, Jaya Ganguly, Thomas Danielle etc are preserved and showcased beautifully. Many of the paintings are timeless. The gallery is surrounded by plush green gardens and sculptures. A cafeteria is also available inside the NGMA which is like an icing on the cake. The architecture of the building is also really nice, all the rooms have got good amount of natural light with high wooden ceilings. The security guards will hover around you every second as you step inside the gallery to stop people from clicking pictures. The environment is so peaceful that one can spend hours sitting here & have some good chit-chat with family & friends. Restroom is available. Gardens are also maintained quite well, hats off to the landscaping team. There is an inhouse gallery store to buy memorabilia and the prices of the articles are also nominal. Entry fee is Rupee 20. Parking space is also quite good for both 2 & 4 wheelers. Outside pictures attached as inside photography is not allowed and is offensive.

The gallery organizes and hosts talks on art and culture by speakers, seminars, film screenings as well as workshops and guided walks throughout the year. The new exhibition space is marvellous as I specifically love the light wells, providing a moody dramatic effect to the everlasting exhibition halls. It’s an excellent example of adaptive reuse in architecture and I wish more are more buildings emerge like this. The tickets are very cheap and I was able to get in free due to some speciality of the week. There is also a cafe which has some good food. There is also more than 3 courtyards that help the nature get into the views, mainly highlighting the sunlight, vegetation shadow etc. A great place to visit for both architecture and art students.

You are welcomed by a beautiful environment where greenery takes centre stage. A basic entry fee of Rs. 20/- is charged per head. Free lockers are provided where you can store your belongings. You're greeted by the most humble security guards you'll probably meet anywhere who direct you to the various sections of the gallery. Coming to the arts on display, I couldn't appreciate them enough cause of my lack of knowledge on the same. However, people who are well-versed in art would surely appreciate who beautiful they are and the stories behind them. You go on a journey around the entire building which roughly takes around 1-2 hours for an average layman like me. People who are into art can spend the entire day perhaps. You're restricted from photography inside the halls where the art is on display. However, you can beautiful photos of the photogenic surroundings, some of which are attached here. And mind you, the surroundings are beautiful and incredibly well maintained which gives the feeling of being at an international art gallery. The food available at the cafeteria is of good quality and can spend far more time just gorging on them and taking in the landscape around you. Washrooms are well maintained too.

One of the best place to spend time and money on Holidays, The price of tickets is 20/- for Indians . Here we can see oil painting on canvas and charcoal and pencil painting and u can also see the painting on leather. Not only the painting we can also see the queen's jewelry box which is made up of sandel wood. I really like the design on the jewelry box. We can see the old painting of job , and water painting and status which is made of Bronze, we can the status of god Krishna and ardhanareswari , e. t. c The most interesting thing is the painting on leather, i never seen such type of painting before, they paint about Sita apaharan, how Bhima killed jalasraandha and e. t. c Library is also there we can go and study books , we need not pay pay anything for entry for library . There a canteen for food , i didn't test it but if you are hungry we can go and eat there. So in my opinion, honestly it is the best and best place to visit and make your day . I really really like this place Note: they will not allow you to take pictures in some places in some places they will.

The NGMA is a beautifully curated collection and well spread out over a large area. That being said, I would however like to bring to the notice of the administration/management that the experience of the art is severely affected by the presence of extremely intrusive guards. While I understand that the exhibits need guarding and naturally so the guards should however be instructed in allowing patrons some space and privacy to view the artworks. We felt like the guards were following us like hawks which makes for a very poor viewing experience and add to that an overall unfriendly and unwelcoming atmosphere that makes for what could have been a brilliant artistic experience a rather sour one. Had it not been for the guards I’d have rated the place a five star but I was left thoroughly disappointed. I’ve visited art galleries and museums all over the world and this has by far been the most intrusive experience of art I’ve ever had simply because of the guards.

Parking for about 15 cars available and is mostly not filled. Loos are clean. Guards are polite but watchful. The cafeteria has a very small menu, a few baked items and some cakes. The gift shop is not well stocked. There are two wings, modern and old. Both have a fairly limited collection of art. The art is by a limited set of Indian artists and is not very exhaustive by geography or cultures. The mansion which houses the gallery is the best part about the gallery - it has a small garden, a small fountain which isn't functional, one really really large tree and some "modern" sculptures. May be the artistically inclined will feel happy to visit. However, in comparison to renowned art galleries across the world it is a let down. For people from Bengaluru this is a worthwhile place to spend an evening. Entry is reasonable for Indian citizen but is steep for foreigners. I left with the feeling that it was way short of the expectation from an art gallery.

This is the first time, I have visited a Art Museum. The Museum is maintained by the central Government. It is very spacious. Many of the artists Art will be displayed here for a certain period. During my visit Devraj Dakoji art is the highlight. The arts keep changing. The entry ticket is only Rs 20 for age above 18 for Indian Nationals. It is Rs 500 for foreigners. People who like art will enjoy Much. It's open upto 7.30 pm on weekends except Mondays where it is a holiday. You can check their website about which artists paintings are being displayed. Overall worth watching if you are in Bangalore. Some times they organise events too for the public which I too would like to join

Starts at 11am, you can buy tickets at the entry gate. Free for students below 18years. ₹20 for visitors and ₹500 for foreigners. You will get lockers to keep your belongings and at the entry you will get to see the wooden carved jewellery boxes which are amazing and all the painting at the start are real. As you move further you will get to see different paintings and sculptures. The mirror Lake, no one notices it as it is not maintained. And the copper car which i liked the most there. Staff is very nice and polite. You cannot take photos at first two halls as the painting and jewellery boxes are real and we'll preserved. And the canteen inside is very good. The taste is also better. Overall the place is good, calm and peaceful maintained.

Not recommended for foreigners!! One could think it’s a scam. 500 Rs for foreigners (vs 20 Rs for locals). Two rooms, all pictures done by one artist, motives on top are repeating a lot. That was it! One would expect more from a „national“ art galerie. My indian friend tried to file a complaint, but we were basically told, that we don’t have the knowledge to complain (the curator in this conversation compared his work with the Mona Lisa, it became surreal at this point), and also I was told that, as I am from Germany, that wouldn’t be much money for me anyways. Highly unprofessional (and slightly racist?) employees of the government there! Highly disappointing and irritating!

If you're an art lover, don't miss visiting the National Gallery of Modern Art on Palace Road. This gallery, which opened in 2009, is the third of its kind in India (the others are in Delhi and Mumbai). It's housed in a Colonial mansion with a garden setting and has two interconnected wings, one of which features works from the early 18th century up until India's Independence while the other displays work from a large number of modern and contemporary artists. The gallery is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m until 6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. There is a cafe on the premises as well, which is open fewer hours than the gallery itself

Actual gallery is closed currently. The shop on the ground floor, right opposite to the entrance gate has some interesting art available for sale at nominal prices. The eating area next to it also works like a co-working space, though you will need to bring your own food since the cafe is closed. Library on the first floor is well stocked with art related books. Do check out the books related to Raja Ravi Varma. The sculpture garden opposite the gallery is great for a calming walk. Parking area is sufficient for both cars and scooters. Absolutely free to visit and spend time here on Saturday/Sunday. Bring along food, water and your laptop for a productive day!

If you are looking for quaint modern and contemporary art and sculpture museum as I like National gallery of modern art is not to be missed. Museum timings are from 11 am to 6:30 pm Tue to Sun, Mon closed. There are sculptures and installations in the museum lawn lined up with banyan and rubber trees. The museum houses paintings of M f Husssain, S H Raza, Manjit Bawa apart from Bengal school renowned ones as Haren Das, Jamini Roy, Nandalal Bose, Abanindranath Tagore, Anjolie Ela and sculptures of Ramkinkar Baij

The collection of artworks here is so unique that resemble it's name "Modern Art Gallery". This place is well maintained in terms of green and calm all around and secured as well. You can see wide range of paintings, art works and much more. The interesting thing here is at ticket counter you will see different colors of buttons where you need to choose the one that suits you and drop it in the jar. This is used for data analysis. Photography is not allowed inside but you can click outside. Here you can also find a cafe which serves food as well and store which has books, magazines and other art works for sale. The staff here will guide you so politely.

The National Gallery of Modern Art, Bengaluru was set up in the premises of the Manikyavelu Mansion at 49 Palace Road, Bangalore and opened to the public on 18th February, 2009. Spread over an area of 3.5 acres, the gracious heritage building was transformed from a residence into an Art Gallery, with a display space of 1551 square meters to which a new gallery block with a display space of 1260 sq. m. was added. The architecture of the additional block was designed in such a fashion that it merges with the style and ambience of the heritage Manikyavelu Mansion while at the same time fulfilling the requirements of a modern museum.

We went on Sunday afternoon. Surprisingly it there were hardly any crowd. Costed ₹20 per (Indian) person. They are a bit strict about photography but in a weird fashion. Its okay to take any number of photos of the artwork and installations but we are not allowed to click personal pictures (Basically can’t have ourselves in that frame). Putting one star less because of that. There are guards standing in every corner and everyone is being watched. Fair enough. Otherwise the experience was great. Loved the ambiance.

The place is good for those who want to see and explore. From the heritage of the artists to the walls that have this beauty enclosed in it, it's pretty cool. But if you have friends who are not into artworks, they might get bored! The area does not allow photography inside the art gallery where art pieces are displayed however you may strike a pose outside the bungalow cum art gallery, which is equally beautiful. They have an adjacent shop where you can buy stuff. Plus, if you get hungry in between they have a cafeteria in premises as well. Plus a public library. Overall it'd be a rating of 6/10.

  • Mohit Maheshwari

For a 20 Rs ticket, this place is just amazing. I went there on a Saturday after returning back from Bangalore fort where the ticket prices were exorbitantly high and not worth it. This place is cheap because it's run by government. It's very well maintained, there are guards watching visitors every moment so that they don't touch the miniature paintings which require magnifying glasses to view them. Apart from paintings, they have many other things and even have some stone art in the outside garden. Overall, a great hang out place for couples and families alike. Parking is also free

  • Rahul Ahir

NGMA Bengaluru is nice place to visit if you have interest in modern indian arts . It has galleries for celebrated artists like Yusuf arrakal and Anila jacob. For indian nationals, the ticket price is only 20rs which is quite affordable. The place gives calm and elegant vibes. One annoying thing was that guards and caretakers were trying to follow you everywhere constantly looking at your actions. It was maybe to restrict people from touching objects and shooting videos but still it was quite awkward. Wish they trust visitors a little more! Overall enjoyed my visit there.

  • Sleeping Ascetic

Have been to this Art Gallery a few times. Liked it. They allow artists to display their work. And at times Gallery show cases/displays theme based art works of different artists. They are keeping the art work in good shape at their best ; wouldn't allow anyone to touch or even take a photograph. They have a coffee shop on the ground floor; felt like it is a good place to discuss the art work displayed on and to converse with artists on their perspectives.

This place is a treat for art lovers and a great discovery for those who are not familiar with art. You'll find a variety of artwork, from intricate miniature paintings to quirky and thought-provoking pieces. The atmosphere is calm and quiet, and they have strict rules against taking photos. The entry fee is affordable, and it's definitely worth a visit. If you're visiting with friends, you'll have even more fun exploring the artwork and enjoying the experience with smiles and laughter. You won't regret spending time here!

It is 20/- for indian nationals and 450/- for foreigners. They have a beautiful collection of modern crafts, sculptures and paintings. I visited during weekdays so it was not at all crowded and i got the entire place to myself. They had 3 big halls full of art which were well lit and maintained. If you scan and download an app you can hear all about the art. They had a museum shop, a small cafe and a library.

Hands down one of the most important places for the art scene in the city and is located in an old colonial mansion in a rather posh locality in the city, a heaven for art lovers and critics alike, the place has a library, a cafeteria and ofcourse two block of galleries the old and the new block. However heads up! the security seems rather prying gives a wierd look at the people who come there especially the women.! Personally I found it rather disgusting! Be aware of the stare !

We came for an enjoyable stroll through its gardens and groves. The architecture of the entire compound is intricate, exquisite and meticulously maintained. Currently housing arts of two artists: "Reflections of Man and Nature" by the late Bireshwa Sen (that I love) and "The Realm of manifestation" by Krishna Setty (that I don't understand). The staff told me Krishna Setty lives nearby and sometimes drop in. Souvenir / Gift shop and Cafe are on-site. Local ₹20 Foreigners ₹500

  • Riya Bagchi

Although not as huge and amazing as the NGMA of Delhi, this tiny place has its own charm, telling the story of art and weaves in the history of India. Loved the tana bana installation that runs throughout the building. The insights into the life of Upendra Maharathi was inspiring. Loved every moment of the visit. The best part was that they had students discount as well, and you could buy prints of your favourite artists from the souvenir shop.

  • Amal Joby

I loved this place, really much. Getting into the gallery made me feel like traveling across different eras. I was lucky to see many prestigious art works by great artists. The place is well maintained and holds many famous works. I saw there many works which I have only read about. You can spend half a day there admiring those classic works. I would visit their again and I am sure I will be more excited than before.

Very beautiful place, We were taken here as a site visit from Gopalan school of architecture, lot of tree ,fountains, they also have a inside parking space ,it would take max 2 hour to go around the museum. Photography is prohibited but you can carry your sketchbook inside to sketch the surroundings, it has some good open spaces where you can spend some time with friends, overall very good place, must visit

  • Akash Meher

Nice place where varieties of art collection is being displayed. But, some of the paintings have been repeated even thrice or more times. Some of the digital photoshopped images are also displayed, which are not supposed to be there. Many of the art pieces belong to a single artist. Scope needs to be given to many different artists, rather than displaying many arts of very few specific artist.

  • Abhishek Pattanaik

I personally enjoyed the place and collection. But don't visit just because travel slites suggest. It is for those who like art. Parking is good but bags cannot be taken inside. They allow mobile photography but not the use of dslr. The place don't have a proper drinking water availability.

Nice ambience. The cost is 20 per Indian citizen(18+) and 500 per foreign citizen. When I visited, there was an exhibition of 77 paintings by Nandalal Bose and they were pretty good. But I wouldn't recommend this place to a foreign citizen because for 500 Rs, this place has not much to offer.

The security here is insidious and will follow you everywhere as if they’re displaying Monets and you’re a thief attempting to steal one. They’re not pleasant to talk to either. Oddly the best person I found was the cafe owner who talked a lot more about the gallery. Can’t speak for the artwork because it keeps changing. Still a good establishment.

It's a nice place if you have interest in arts. This Place is clean and quiet. But expected much more art works. As it has a small gallery of arts so improvement on collection must be needed and it has entry fees of 20 rupees only. It will be better if there's more collection added. Generally 30-40 minutes you need to visit the gallery. It has a cafeteria along with little shop.

I love visiting museums. The peaceful atmosphere and friendly staff along with the intricate and unique paintings and sculptures makes this place a must visit for museum lovers and explorers. You can buy many souvenirs too like tote bags, post cards, coasters and paintings.

Natural and peaceful place. For 2 hours you will forget that you are in middle of banglore city. Nothing national is there, it feels like personal museum of Shaswat Maharathi.

  • Rory Allwood

No value for money Indian nationals charged 20 rupees where at foreigners are charged 25x at 500 rupees. Only 1 exhibition was open and it seemed it was there an incredibly long time. My advice is to visit the museum of art and photography (MAP) has free options as well as a few paid exhibitions which have the same pricing for locals and foreigners.

  • Karishma Kulkarni

Very peaceful, green and gorgeous place with a decent collection of modern art and helpful staff. The cafeteria serves nice food - particularly their alu paratha and pav bhaji were awesome. The museum shop is a little neglected and one wishes it had mod beautiful prints of the modern art. Definitely worth a visit! Also has parking space inside.

  • Swathi Sharma

Great exhibits! Great quotes by Tagore on the walls, miniature paintings by Bireswar sen drawn to perfection. Beautiful staircases and extremely hygienic premises in the backdrop of lush canopied trees and sculptures. Must visit over the weekends.

Wonderful place to visit. Had great collection of Bireswar Sen's miniatures when I visited. The best part is that they change the collections frequently, and so making another visit in few months should not be a problem. Few other good things - very good ambience of the cafe, parking facility, neatness of the museum, low entry ticket..

  • Nandan HS

Forever in love with this place. Right from the entrance, the unbelievably beautiful canopy, the grand architecture of the main building, and of course the art. The entire campus has a beautiful atmosphere and there is silence in the middle of Bangalore noise. Just to sit at the café, sipping hit chai in a kulhad, it's serene.

  • Swati Sinha

The ticket is ₹20 only per person. For that price the place was very good and it was a very good experience. You can click pictures of the art only. They have cafe also and clean washrooms too. The staff was polite and helpful.

I spent around 1 hour at the cozy coffee place by the small pond. Attended a talk at the auditorium. Also spent 10 minutes skimming the 'modern art'. Security guards were literally like traffic police; guiding you the entry exits :) sign posts would do that more effectively! I got lost twice despite their guidance. …

Fun place to visit for art lovers. The sculpture collection is amazing but the painting collection was not as great when I visit. Since the whole building is a restored mansion it’s a beautiful spot for architectures as well

Worth a visit. Potential Area of interest for all the art lovers. Had an amazing time. I had been here with my fiance. The impressive range of artworks, from classical to contemporary, provided us with a shared appreciation for the country's artistic legacy. A must-visit for art enthusiasts and couples alike.

  • Surabhi Venkatesh

One of the most aesthetic places to visit in Bangalore. This museum houses many beautiful art works and traditional weaves. The place has a sense of calmness to it owing to the lush greenery surrounding it. It takes about an hour to look around the entire museum and the entry costs Rs. 20 for Indian citizens.

  • Komal Singh Solanki

With only rs.20 you can can experience a soothing vibe by visiting the art gallery. They have free cloak room for depositing bags and extra stuff. They also have cafeteria for hunger. Overall a worth going place.

Entry fee is only Rs.20/- per person. Large gallery showcasing beautiful artwork available here. There is a locker, where you will have to keep your bags, before entering the gallery. There is also a shop selling art copies. At the back of the museum, there is a canteen selling food. The food was good.

  • FlippAR Go

Pick a book, buy some coffee and spend time at NGMA. No better way to spend a Sunday. The heritage building houses some rare art collection. The library has a very good collection of books on art, photography. Lots of green space, huge trees, a nice water body overlooking the old building. Must visit.

  • KIRAN KUMAR NAIK

Nice ambience. The cost is 20 per Indian citizen(18+) and 500 per foreign citizen. When I visited, there was an exhibition of 77 paintings by Nandalal Bose and they were pretty good. But I wouldn't recommend this place to a foreign citizen because for 500 Rs, this place has not much to offer.

  • K H

A calm and quiet place, well maintained, nice small cafeteria, and of course the place to go if u have interest in art. Glad govt is investing on such institutions to promote and preserve art

Amazing place. Amazing paintings. Loved the building architecture. Must visit. Staff of the Gallery extremely polite. There is a small restaurant serves great chai too. Simple food, reasonable. Parking available. Photography is prohibited with in / inside the gallery. Outside is ok.

  • Arpan Mondal

Amazing place to have a peaceful weekend. Been here twice and will definitely visit again. They in fact change the artworks after a while so you won't get bored if you visit again. Highly recommended. The ambience in the cafeteria is better than most restaurants.

  • Nagesh Narasimha Murthy

I would recommend this place to any art lover, well maintained place and nominal ticket price. Place is well maintained and has ample parking available for both two wheeler and four wheeler. It would be great if there is any guided tour provided by authorities.

  • Disha Arpitha

Beautiful place, the ticket for only the gallery is 20 Rs. It will take you an average of 1 and a half hour to finish touring the museum. Photography is not allowed inside but other than it's really good and a place you should definitely visit if you like art.

  • Anil Bhojraj

Elegant, well maintained old building; Well presented exhibits; pleasant and helpful staff. Depending interest, of course, can spend a couple of hours enjoyably. Worth a visit. Includes a nice shop and a public library Cafeteria closed since 2nd wave of COVID.

  • Hari Kishore

Good place for art lovers. Entry ticket fee is just 20 Rs. Description about the art should have kept separately in big fonts. Its really difficult to find things about the art. Details about the art are also very less. So much restriction in taking photos.

  • MB

There’s nothing much but I actually liked the ambience. If you wanna do something different and want some peace from the madness in the city just detox here.

An excellent place to absorb the fresh air of art. The ambience is so good and it is very well maintained. I went to attend S.G.Vasudev's exhibition 'The return to Sama'. The place can make you forget the outside world and breath art.

I really love the architecture. But i think the staff could be a little more sweet as they could just hover around you to not take personal pictures of yourself. I also think they could be a little more descriptive about the art.
