Man I hate to leave the 1 star as the actual pastries were fine, but the company they use for parking enforcement is unreal predatory. We stopped for less than 5 minutes just to grab a quick snack and walked straight back to the car. They have a guy hiding in the bushes literally just waiting for you to walk away. They even lie on the ticket. You can see in the photo they actually claim they issued the booting AFTER we made our purchase and walked back. He refused to take it off even though we were legally parked and we showed our receipt from 3 minutes prior at the bakery which is included in that lot. When I finally decided to pay just so I could move on, he required me to show ID to accept my payment and claimed (without any reason) that he thought I stole my card. Very rude people, questionable business practices, and taking hours to contest too. I would suggest Moonlight to stop using that towing company (or complain about them to their landlord) if they want to retain customers. Never had a $103 pastry before.

This is a true bakery. Their pastries, rolls, and bread are served at restaurants around the city. Their little oatmeal cookies are scrumptious! On the sweet side traditional bear claws stuffed with prune, almond croissants, and cinnamon rolls in several varieties have no rivals in these parts. You can even get milk to accompany them. Don't forget to take a baguette or loaf of bread on your way out. But don't wait too late. When they sell out, they are out--but, since they supply the pastries for Radio Coffee, about two miles away, you may be able to satisfy your need for a quick fix, if you hurry. P.S. Their walls are full of fliers and posters about local (or regional) plays, exhibitions and activities, and they are well informed about where to go and what to see--so chat them up and ask!

One of my favorite low-key South Austin bakeries. You won't find donuts here, but you will find some pastries, cookies, and tarts that'll make you forget all about donuts. It's all good here, but a couple of my favorites: the pecan sticky buns(!), apple strudel, and chocolate croissant. The staff is what really makes this shop great. They're genuine people who seem genuinely stoked to be doing what they're doing. They're so laid back and kind every time I come in. Thankfully I work just a block away from here. Support Moonlight Bakery - I don't want it to ever go away!

Awesome baked goods at awesome prices. So far we've tried the cookies (both the chocolate chip and the peanut butter are delightful), the kolaches, and the California cinnamon rolls. The kolaches are every bit as good as the ones I get at Czech Stop in West, if not better. And the California cinnamon rolls are to die for. On top of all that, the owner is friendly and personable; we've had some really good conversations, and I value those as much as the delicious baked goods. Only downside is that I live all the way north and can't visit often.

I was in Austin and my wife wanted me to pick her up some pastries from a local bakery. I'm glad she did. I had to get an assortment. Everything looked amazing. I heard the cinnamon rolls were amazing so I got a couple of those. They did not disappoint. Maybe the best we've had. The lady was super nice and helpful. Fair prices and so far everything was tasty. If I'm in the area again I will definitely stop by. If you're looking for some tasty baked goods you cant go wrong here. I should have bought more cinnamon rolls!

  • Sarah Brewer

Admittedly, this bakery is owned and run by family, but hand to god its amazing. I haven't had anything from them I didn't like. In fact, I usually have them do birthday cakes for my kids, I just don't have their gift. I love apple, so the turnovers and strudels are my favorites but the cinnamon rolls are my daughter's favorite. I also get loafs of bread occasionally. It's really got something for everyone. If you haven't checked them out yet, I highly recommend it!!

I stopped in here several years ago when I first started my gluten-free journey to see about ordering a batch of cookies. They were closed but hadn't locked the door. I didn't know. It was pretty early in the evening. The lady all but pushed me out of the door and locked it behind me after coldly explaining that they were closed. There were other customers in the store waiting so it was very embarassing and strange. Never went back, needless to say.

Been here numerous times. Great little chocolate chip cookies! Muffins are great too. I bought a doz of my favorite chocolate chip cookies, but it looks like they were left in the oven a bit longer than usual. I bought them anyway after the kind employee let me try a sample. They were still tasty as expected just a little on the crunchy side. Thanks Moonlight, I always spread the word about how the baked goods rock and the extra friendly staff.

The only rating worthy of this bakery is 5 stars. A true, early morning bakery - for the worker to grab some pastries for themselves or their coworkers prior to work. The prices are surprisingly low for Austin, and the quality is superb. The selection Is focused on breakfast pastries - with delectable kolaches, although they do offer loaves. Muffins are great and .99 cents. An excellent bakery, worth patronizing at least once a week.

  • Gracie Wood Shepherd

We are trying to find the best cinnamon roll in Austin, and this one is pretty good. Very cinnamon-y. They have a traditional choice and California cinnamon roll (this is more of a croissant texture and without icing). We got a few other breakfast pastries and kolaches, and didn’t feel like the other items we got were anything special. Worth a stop for the cinnamon roll though!

  • Natalie Flowers

I used to drive across town for their perfect almond croissant. The raisin snail is delicious, as are the orange blossom, chocolate croissants, cookies, and the home made lemon tart made with shortbread crust. Simply top notch, made by hand every day and half of the night. Start a revolution of deliciousness with a trip to this amazing place.

  • John Seay

I popped in to check out the goods. Super nice young woman working there the day after Thanksgiving. I tried the frosted cinnamon roll and the California cinnamon roll. Both stupendous. Best in town. Comparable in quality to Easy Tiger and Upper Crust. What a great surprise. I live way north but would consider making the trip back for sure.

  • Lauren Bem

This bakery was amazing, the orange blossom was super tasty, the blueberry and cream Danish was to die for the cream horn was delicious. I got two croissants one almond and one chocolate both were delicious. I would definitely recommend coming here early to make sure you get what you want! I will definitely be coming back.

Best snickerdoodles EVER !!! I'm addicted for sure! Staff is very friendly and always willing to have a little chat while you get your order. Be aware, they close at 2:00 Monday-Thursday and 6:30 Friday-Saturday. As well, they tend to sell out of yumminess by the end of their day. I go out of my way to go to this bakery ♥️

  • Soyoon Kum

So many pastry options and desserts!!!!!! Apple strudel, cream puff, and napoleon were all very good taste! Their cream puff cream is mixture of custard cream and whipped cream, so it is well balanced texture and taste! Napoleon is very crispy! Also price is reasonable. I bought three pastries but it was less than $8!!!

  • Lisa Fucci

I purchased their cinnamon roll. The owner asked me if I wanted it frosted? I of course said yes! It was soft and not to gooey. It tasted really good! I also got the current and raisin scone. That had a nice buttery flavor and It wasn't to dry. This bakery does not have tables to sit and eat your yummy treats!

  • Ryan Cataño

I happened to stop in this bakery one morning for the first time and I ordered a cinnamon roll. I was at home eating it when I fell in love! I came in the following morning and ordered another cinnamon roll along with a couple jalapeno kolaches which were just as good! I'll definitely be coming back often!

  • Marco Gonzalez

First time trying this place. I ordered an Italian Cream cake as a birthday cake for my wife and it was a big hit at the party. Bakery was clean and staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Definitely going to order cakes from here again and recommend to friends and family. Thank you.

  • Zachary Harris

Great pastry and even better people! Time and again the lovely folks at Moonlight Bakery have provided me and mine with delicious bread and pastry. They even went so far as to share some sourdough starter with me when mine was killed in a tragic accident. Love having a great family bakery in my town.

  • Erin Nieto

This place was good. The person behind the counter was very hospitable. The 3 different kinds of cinnamon rolls are all delicious, especially the California style. We also bought an assortment of kolaches and other sweet breads. It was close to where we were staying so that was a plus.

  • Marcelo Avendaño

They have the best kolaches, I always say that most places the kolaches are made with machines, some places do them with care but moonline makes their kolaches with love, delicious buttery love. they run out fast but they do bake them twice a day. I always go there if I am in austin.

  • Hana Sugioka

I stopped by on a whim and the owner was very sweet and generous. I got an assortment of the mini cookies which are an incredible price ($0.40 each!) and very satisfying and exactly what you want from a chocolate chip cookie. I highly recommend, please give them your business!!!

  • Jessica Rodriguez

I love this place... I come here all the time. But lately the last I wanna say 5 times I’ve visited, limited cookies or none at all or none of my fave, lemon tarts. Hopefully it gets better bc this truly is a great place and I’ve been just so disappointed.

  • aaron dembe

One of my favorite bakeries on the planet. Everything is outstanding, especially strudel and sticky buns. Their stuff is oddly cheap. I constantly encourage them to raise their prices but they have kept them very low. Get here asap and treat yourself.

  • Kenny Hill

I love this place! the chocolate chip cookies are the best in town. I know. I eat cookies. Morning Kolaches are awesome, especially the Ham & Cheese with Jalapeno. ask for a mustard to go with it. The Butter Croissants are to die for. It's all great!

  • Michelle Easton

Nice little bakery that offers better quality and more authentic pastries. Really enjoyed my almond croissant and looking forward to serving the Sourdough with our dinner tonight. Woman at the counter was incredibly friendly. We will be coming back!

  • John Westfall

Meh. Went in for kolaches as recommended by someone. Employee seemed completely bothered by our presence despite being the only customers. Ordered cream cheese but after eating it realized he gave us lemon. And they just weren’t good. Go elsewhere

  • ashley woody

I love this bakery! The woman who runs it is so sweet. Their pastries and baked goods are made fresh every single day. Chocolate croissant, cinnamon snail i think it's called - everything is great. highly recommend! I usually go once a week!

  • Nicolas Fajardo

Small, local, and friendly! From the moment you walk in, the owner is welcoming and great conversation. The baked goods are affordable and delicious, which is hard to find in Austin. So many places are trendy and let the product fall by the

  • Sherren Harter

Love this local gem! All of the kolaches are amazing (go early as they sometimes sell out), as are the sweet baked goods (chocolate croissants, orange blossoms, oh my!). Plus the people who work there are so nice. Coming here makes me happy!

  • Fyrebat Skymarshall

they hired a guy to sit in the parking lot with a boot to hold your car ransom. if you take one step out of the parking lot they boot it and wint take it off till you give them 100$ regardless of if you are a customer to the shopping center

  • Cynthia Beard

Friendly service and delicious baked goods. They set out samples on the counter so that you will have an idea of the quality before you buy anything. I bought kolaches, and they're some of the best I've ever tasted -- super fresh.

  • Naomi Orndorff

Stopped in on my morning walk to see if they had anything gluten free. While there were only two GF options - they were both AMAZING! Best GF almond cookies and coconut macaroons I’ve had (probably ever). Will definitely be back.

  • Makaelah Adajar-Zacarias

Talk about bang for your buck!!! Got 4 kolaches for super cheap. We had the delicious honor of having the sausage/cheese/jalapeño and ham/cheese/jalapeño. We’ll be back

I discovered this bakery while in Austin today and it had the best fresh made lemon tart and maple pecan pastry. The sales clerk was a doll and sent my granddaughters some chocolate chip cookies that they enjoyed too.
