I am loath to do this as this has been my and my family’s primary vet for almost 15 years now; however, change has not been kind to this clinic. Dr. Fred and his old staff were amazing, kind, considerate, and treated my pets and me as family rather than potential business. Sadly, I cannot say this about the newer staff and vet. While they are professional, they do not go out of their way to be “friendly” or to get to know you and your babies. In general this newer vet/staff treated me as potential business. They didn’t care about my financial status and were hard pressed to discuss different options with me. For starters I had taken in my cat, Nux, because he was limping. At the time Dr. Fred was not in and I was seen by the new vet. He was professional and confident but seemed to boarder on cocky. He had an X-ray done of Nux’s leg and then recommended a risky and expensive surgery to realign one of his hip bones. Of course, I was a recent college graduate at the time without the funds to do something such as that, so I went home to think about it. About a week later I took Nux back in for the same issue and to possibly discuss the suegery. Thank God Dr. Fred was there as he quickly and efficiently assessed Nux with simple observation and touch. Dr. Fred discovered Nux had a small infection/inflammation in his leg thus causing him to limp. I was sent home with medication and directions to make sure Nux rested his leg. When I had inquired out the surgery the previous vet recommended Dr. Fred informed me that it was completely unnecessary. Nux is doing much better now, without a limp. I’m so thankful I did not go through with the surgery as amputation was one of the risks should there have been any complications. While I am not sure if this was a simple mistake on the newer vet’s part, I can honestly say from that point I was wary of him. About a year later my family adopted a beautiful puppy. Unfortunately fate had other plans for us and our puppy fell deathly ill at 15 months with a failing liver. We had taken her to a 24 hour animal hospital where she spent the night. In the morning as soon as Midway animal clinic opened we called to see if the vet could see Akira (our puppy). Dr. Fred is rarely at the clinic now a days and sadly this was one of those days. We were refused, and told we had to have an appointment to see our vet. It did not matter that it was an emergency and that she had spent all night alone in a scary hospital! Of course my family and I were extremely upset and argued with the clinic stating that we had been with this clinic for years and the fact they couldn’t squeeze in our puppy was ridiculous! They relented and let our puppy in but at that time all of us were tired and wary of this clinic. We ended up taking Akira to a new vet who when informed of the situation showed concern and immediately tried to squeeze us in. In the end we lost our puppy and of course there was likely nothing either vet could have done; however, showing genuine concern and empathy for our situation would have been appreciated. Midway did not do this. We received a condolence letter from our new vet and we have yet to receive one from this vet. Overall I am extremely disappointed in this clinic. When I was younger I had a cat who passed at the clinic and Dr. Fred and all of the staff were so kind and compassionate!! Dr. Fred was so understanding and I couldn’t have been more thankful for the staff at that time. When I received my baby’s ashes they had written me the sweetest condolce letter. And while this obviously isn’t about receiving a condolence letter I can’t help feeling bitter that I had recieved a nice one from a different vet clinic that I had no contact with other than to schedule an euthisasia appointment for my 3 year old dwarf hamster, only to call them an hour before the appointment to let them know he passed on his own. A clinic I had little to no contact with demonstrated more empathy than the new staff here. We no longer attend here.

We have been loyal patrons of Midway Road Animal Clinic for over 15 years, (3 dogs, 2 cats) because Dr. Fred was such an amazing man and vet, and we assumed when he retired the practice would be left in good hands. We were very, very wrong. It is now just a business with questionable diagnoses designed to keep you returning for the same issues over and over, and paying for the same issues every time. We have a boxer that has GI issues as many do. We took him in FOUR TIMES for the same issue at $150 per visit and get the same diagnosis every time. Pancreatitis, here’s a shot, give him this pill. No food/diet recommendations, no deeper testing. Nothing. Here’s a surprise, he STILL has the same issues today. Moving on to our Abyssinian cat, who has started developing bladder issues and urinating all over the house. Happened once last year and we were given pills to give her, no recommendation on any other changes in diet or lifestyle. $110. Again on May 22 we took her in for the same issues, she was given a shot and we were told she would be fine and we don’t need to do anything else. $110. 2 days ago, less than 3 weeks from our last visit, same issues. We were told yesterday we would have to bring her in again and pay...you guessed it...$110. DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC. They see your pets as ATM machines and will not fix the problem but rather prolong it. Dr. Fred must be so sad to see what has become of his amazing practice that he built for decades.

I recently visited Midway Road Animal Clinic in order to check my cat for a UTI. Like most cats she is not fond of car rides. When I arrived at the clinic I called to tell them my cat was panting, running around in the car and I was unable to get her in her carrier. They met me at my car with another carrier and helped me get her in gently. Once our turn, Josh, the cat whisperer, took us to her exam room. This was her first vet visit after a traumatic adoption and I had only previously seen her respond with claws and attempts to runaway. She never did that with Josh and the vet tech. They both talked to Loba and kept her calm, never man handled her just gently held her. Dr. Roberts was also great. He helped assess her UTI, gave her meds and gave me his opinion about traveling with her in the future and whether to use meds or not to help. I've been to many vet clinics and also worked at one. This was a wonderful experience and I'm thankful to have found the staff at this clinic. Pricing was also very reasonable!

I recently had a kitten left in my truck at my job, I went online to see if the owner had posted a lost kitten ad. No luck there, I called some of the rescue shelters in the area, but they were full. Until I could find a home for the 8 week old kitten, I had to make sure he was healthy, so off to the Midway Rd Animal Clinic to get a check up and start his 1st round of shots. They were sooo friendly, and very professional, after filling out the necessary paperwork they took me to an exam room and gave the little guy a thorough exam, and his first round of shots . Since that time, Little Pete has completed his shots and been neutered. All at the Midway Rd Animal Clinic. I would highly recommend this clinic to any animal lover/owner. You will not be disappointed, they excel at customer service for both the animal and the owner.

Veterinarians & helpers are awesome but receptionist not Soo much. Rather have pet exam fee over genuine care for your animal. Hispanic receptionist (can't forget the black lady also that's there whispering show some respect)!was very rude that I just wanted to pay for treatment for my dog without exam fee. I don't feel like I should have to pay a exam if dog has been seen in the last 30 days for the same symptoms. They make it seem like they are annoyed and all you want is your buddy to be well These clinics are all about money and believe me I understand but no need to be disrespectful I'm just a veteran trying to make it wanting my service dog not having to suffer. Atleast show some compassion.. Some animals aren't pets some are use for medical purposes not an option

Dr Williams has to be the best veterinarian office environment that I have ever seen or experienced. From the receptionist to the techs to the vets (and yes that's plural). Dr Williams is the main vet however when he goes out of town or is sick he brings in Dr. Dela Torre from El Paso who is equally has skilled as he is. He doesn't over test to rack up the bill. He also sells our dogs the heart worm and flea medicine at rock bottom prices. His personality his amazing and funny which helps when you have to be at the vet. I hope that everyone can trust this review. Only problem and it's minor is because he is such an awesome vet he books up solid so be prepared to wait a week for an appointment. But trust me it's worth the wait.

I love this practice! They are a little more holistic than many of the other practices in the area. They don’t immediately throw every vaccine available at you and will suggest the ones they think your dog needs. For example, if your dog isn’t hunting or hanging around a lake, you don’t need the Lepto vaccine. They also will do titer checks if you ask/pay for them, instead of getting vaccines every year. Obviously, rabies is required by law, so I’ve never skipped that one, but you can get the 3-year one. Sometimes it’s difficult to get in very quickly for a non-emergency, but they usually can get you in within a couple of days. Their prices are also reasonable, with the exception of the recent nail trim price hike.

I absolutely love Dr. Fred and his staff. They are genuinely caring towards animals and extremely helpful and I don't want to forget to mention - affordable! Everything you'd look for in a vet, you'll find here. I couldn't be happier with them and their services. Just recently my cat had swallowed a ribbon (turned out to be 16 inches long!) everywhere I called wanted to charge thousands of dollars and "couldn't guarantee that he'd live." Dr. Fred made me feel confident and safe to trust my baby with him. Here 2 weeks later my baby is healthy and alive and recovering great! I also want to thank them for being open on that day because everywhere else was closed due to the icy weather.

Okay, this will be my vet until the end of time. I have two dogs- 1 who is peaceful, happy and is just such a joy to everyone he comes in contact with. No worries with him. However, my other one, is just...a mess. That’s the best way to put it. The staff have seen me cry in the office over how badly behaved he was. But, what will forever keep me coming back is how understanding they are of who my dog is. Not even that, honestly, it’s how HAPPY they are to see him every single time. Even when he growls in their face they laugh and see he’s not being mean...he’s just a weird dog. I’m forever grateful for how patient the staff are and how much they love my weirdo.

I absolutely love Midway Road Animal Clinic. The moment I call, Christine always remembers my name and dog. Dr. Fred is an absolute legend and Dr. Roberts is amazing (no one beats Dr. Fred, but you're close). I'm moving, so sadly I won't be able to bring my pup here regularly, but I love this vet so much that my dog will get her yearly checkup at this office even though it will be 900 miles away - they're that good. And they are extremely patient with your animals while also offering affordable solutions rather than drastic solutions (ie cage rest rather than surgery for my dog).

I have a 4 year old chihuahua and he was diagnosed with glocoma, i was taking him here frequently and the “professional vet doctor” kept telling us to give him eye drops that they provided for at around $90 and i did this like 3 times. now it’s gotten worse and i took him to a specialist today and they said he needs immediate surgery. I am not satisfied about with mid way road. They should’ve told us way sooner my dog needed immediate attention. INSTEAD THEY KEPT SELLING US EYE DROPS THAT WERNT HELPING. I find that very lazy to keep selling us eye drops and sending us home .

Absolutely love this clinic! Started taking my puppy here when he was 8 weeks old. Their professionalism and care is unmatched by any other clinic or hospital you can take your pet. I’m not exaggerating. And their prices can’t be beat! They take the time to get to know you and your family and make your pet feel at ease. They explain everything they will do for your pet and are transparent about costs. Can’t recommend this clinic enough!

Took my 4.5 month old berner here to get a consult for neuter and a cherry eye fix. Nice staff all around. Took a star away because there is nowhere to potty outside for the pups. Mine get especially nervous in the car and need to go as soon as they get out. There is just a small sliver of grass near a fence (at least that’s all I could see). Otherwise, very excited to make the transition to this vet from my prior vet.

Good Vet. Office staff is good. Dr. Has handled 2 of my canines for cremation and for my other little pups for allergies. Both of my Chiuawas never ever had allergies until leaving Ellis County and moving to Dallas County. Never sick, no nothing. So Doc had to fix em up every 90 days for a bit. No allergies in 2022. Weird. Guess they grew out. Anyway go see Doc and staff they'll fix your kitty or canine right on up...

This used to be an excellent animal clinic, but due to staffing changes, it has gone drastically downhill. We went to this clinic for over 10 years and were pleased. We trusted Dr. Fred implicitly. However, when Dr. Fred reduced his hours, another vet joined the clinic, but he is just not up to standard. He was ill informed as to how to treat our dog with horrible results. We will not be going to this vet again.

This is the best vet. Very reasonable cost, great people, easy to work with, and great veterinary care. There's a reason everyone in this part of town takes their pets here. We've recently converted some family members that live in other parts of the city who previously had a less friendly, more money grubbing vet. It's worth the trip for them to get good care, a warm environment, and not get ripped off.

My Aunt and Uncle have been taking their furbabies here for a long time as well as my Grandfather before them and they have taken wonderful care of my furbabies ever since we were introduced to this clinic. Dr. Williams and Dr. Roberts have been amazing along with their staff. My babies especially love Christine and Josh, they are always so sweet, caring and gentle with my senior girls.

Great animal clinic. No, they haven’t remodeled but the first vet I tried had a brand new high end facility and the prices reflected mortgage he was carrying. Very high prices there but Midway Rd Animal Clinic delivers quality care at fair prices. I feel like I’m paying for their quality care (which still isn’t cheap) and not paying for fancy remodeling.

Took my dog in with a list of things to check and or do. The staff were all so very polite and helpful and the vet was a really genuine person who asked pertinent questions and answered any I posed. I generally hate going to the vet with my dog but this clinic provided great care and I will be using them as her new primary care. Best.Customer.Service.

We just had our first visit and I am very impressed:) The staff was very friendly and the prices very reasonable. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Fred. He didn't try to push anything and was very open to raw and herbal HW treatment. He was very laid back and personal, but also professional. I think we have found our vet we will call home.

Been going to Dr. Fred since 1970, he's been the greatest to our babys. He's watched me grow up with our zoo we've had all my life. But Fred has been retiring for, oh about the last 10 years or so. Where do I begin? My Miniature Schnauzer was delivered by Dr. Fred Williams and his fabulous staff 10 years ago and we've gone no where else since. I entrust no one else with my baby's medical needs. The staff has always been loving and caring, has always been helpful and understanding when I've called with the most simplist question.

This place is amazing ! My cat got very sick in December. I went to 3 different vets and no one could figure out what was wrong with her. I last ditch effort i took her here and the team her saved her. I recently brought her back just for a check up and they were just as amazing, so grateful I have found them !

Great! Got me in when I was in a pinch ...my dog, Lucy, ripped her belly open. They fit me in, sewed her up, and we were on our way in about 45 mins! The Dr was very cordial and we laughed about my attempt to super glu the wound closed...no shame here! Just DAMN good service! Easy to get to across from Walmart

I've been going here for a long time now; 10+ yrs. They always take the time needed and are fairly priced. I also don't feel pressured for expensive procedures. They understand that our dog is a loved member, but doesn't feel the need to correct issues that aren't needed for their health or comfort.

Dr Fred and the rest of his office always provide the best care to our furry family. All the vets are fantastic. Love the more old school vet feeling that uses wisdom and instincts instead of ALWAYS going high priced test first. This office is a perfect combination of the two methods.

I have been bringing my dogs to Doc Fred since 1989. He is a wonderful, caring vet. His partner, Dr. Roberts is also a great vet. I moved to Grapevine in 1992, but still use this clinic. I will not take my "kids" anywhere else. The vet techs are also amazing. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this clinic. They are very knowledgeable and lower in price than most clinics. You can tell they have built an excellent client base and have been around for a while. I take both dogs and my cat of 18 years here and I wouldn't think of going any where else!!

Came home yesterday to find my dog had large amounts of blood in her stool. Came in this morning to get her checked out and was turned away since I didn't have an appointment. They close at 5pm. I couldn't even call to make one yesterday when I came home.
