Highly do NOT recommend this location. I was mortified after having a gross encouter with two staff at this location, and of course, I will never go back. I will also contact the head office as noone should be treated in such ill manner. I went to pick up some groceries, and at the cashier, I realized that I didn't have the wallet with me. The store was very empty, so I immediately apologized to the cashier named, Mike, that I am really sorry and that I will grab my wallet from the car. I then ran back to inform him that I can't find my wallet. He had already packed items into my reusuable bag. I told him that I was very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. He then asked when I can be back, I apologized that I don't live nearby, so I would have to drive, which may take some time. Not only Mike was dismissive of my apology, he started showing his full agitation as he began unchecking items. Then another staff named Dianne asked what was wrong, I told her that I must have left my wallet at home, and that I feel terrible. I apologized to Mike again because I still caused this inconvenience to him. Still dismissive and not even making an eye contact. He is agitated, I get it. I also had a TGTO (Too Good To Go) order that I had pre-paid (which I purchase weekly from different locations and give to the people in need), so I patiently waited by the service counter and picked up the order from Dianne. Then realized that I may be able to pay with Apple Pay afterall, which I have never tried. Dianne told me yes, and "just go back and check out" and pointed out to my cart that was set aside. I went back into the cash aisle, explained that I can actually use Apple Pay, Mike then starts shaking his head as if he is in disabelief and grossed out by my behaviour. Not a word, dismissive, no eye contact, just shaking his head. Completely ignoring me. The other client looked surprized as she was finishing her check-out, making me feel even more humiliated. I then felt so disgusted by his behaviour, and went to Dianne (thinking that she is a manager, but she is not), explained the situation that I feel bad, but I am going to have to leave them behind. She then said "Just go to the other cashier and pay" and repeated herself twice. She had the condescending tone during the entire encounter, but this nailed it. Both staff were so rude, mean, and condescneding. Even though I was shaking with humiliation and holding back my tears, I didn't want to make any scene, so I made my purchases with another cashier and left. I do understand my mistake caused an inconvenience, but when someone respectfully and sincerely apologize for the inconvenice repeatedly, why not accept that people make an honest mistake and accept the apology? I ended up finding my wallet in the end, so I do regret of not taking more time and looking carefully (I felt rushed), but did I deserved to be treated in such ill manner? Absolutely not.

Awful experience at Metro Yonge & Lawrence (3142 Yonge St.) Was in this store yesterday and few other times in the past weeks. This is a small store, and "social distancing" at this particular store is challenging. They have a sign outside by the shopping carts indicating those shopping carts have been cleaned/sanitized. NOT true at all! In the 2-3 times that I have been to this store recently, including yesterday, there was NO staff member cleaning the used shopping carts. Customers were putting the carts back and they were not being cleaned for the next customer (unlike the store at Bathurst/Lawrence). Secondly, the line-up for the cashiers is along a very narrow aisle, which is EXACTLY between the deli counter and the citrus. I walked into the store and went straight to the citrus section, which was about 2 metres from the line-up. IMMEDIATELY, the security guard asked me "are you buying something there" in the rudest tone ever! I have no duty to tell her what I am purchasing or not purchasing, and moreover, if they DON'T want to have shoppers near the customers lining up, then I guess the store better re-arrange their produce section. There was no other way for me to get to the citrus products without going to that spot. The security guard was insistent that she know if I was buying something in that section. Why else would I be standing there? It's not like I want to be near strangers these days either! Within seconds of the security staff telling me off for standing in that spot, a store staff walked by the VERY same area, and she was without mask/face shield ore gloves. I WAS wearing mask and gloves. Furthermore, none of the staff at the deli counter were wearing masks, and the were serving prepared food. This store is NOT following the hygienic practices that the Metro Website claims to be implementing.

One of the older and smaller Metro supermarkets, this location as a decent selection and is convenient and not overly trafficked. Given the store's smaller size, their meat department as well as their fruits and vegetables section are noticeably smaller another locations. The store is conveniently located just a few blocks away from the Yonge and Lawrence intersection. The staff is quite friendly and helpful and given that on in that area quite often visiting family, it's perfect for me as I'm not a fan of crowds, which is why I will take the somewhat more limited selections to enjoy a fairly stress-free shopping experience.. in addition, there prepared food section is also a bit diminished in size but the quality invaluable offered it's quite Fair and reasonable for my needs. I would recommend purchasing one of their logoed plastic carrying bags, as their regular plastic bags, like many other stores have converted to much more frail and weak material, especially if one is doing a lot of traveling via walking and transit. The bags are well sized and very durable and offered at a low price of 99¢/bag.

We have been loyal shoppers here for years. Competing stores in the area have other pluses but this Metro offers continuity and is staffed by many longtime employees from the area (and they also employ neurodiverse people which is a plus with us). Some of the staff are real characters, even the couple of crusty ones who give the place atmosphere. We are not yet sure we like the new store layout, but in general recent renovations refresh what was a dated look that made me nostalgic for the 1970s. The new automatic check-out machines may be an added convenience (and they are state-of-the-art), but we hope they aren’t at the expense of the employees. This place is a small store with some shortcomings, but in general we like the people who work here and collectively they are the store's top strength.

This place renovated from my last visit six months ago. It's now much brighter, clutter removed from the aisles and aisles are wider. Only problem is consumers are now paying for those costly renovations as prices have jumped up much too high. I was saddened with their meat options- I didn't see my usual cuts and nothing looked tasty. Mio Water Enhancer is $4.49 or up an additional $0.50, Bicks Dill Pickles $4.99 much too high, cereal prices too high - No Frills has the best cereal prices hands down in the city I kid you not. Grapes well priced at $1.99 & red grapes all eaten within 24 hours in my house. New - you can now self check out.

This store is too small. You will regularly not find what you need or are looking for. Shelf selection is bare. Produce: could just be a sign of the times, but often items are missing or rotting. Garlic selection lately has been especially atrocious. Bread: Extremely limited selection. Today they did not even have ANY regular hotdog buns. Come on. The new layout is nice EXCEPT for the cashier lanes. So small that you don't even have anywhere to place your bags to pack your own items comfortably. Who thought that was a good idea?? Some exec? Horrendous. Will go here because it's across the street but usually leave unsatisfied.

I never write review for grocery stores but this was so bad i had to write. I bought a watermelon here that turned out to be rotten and white on the inside that i had to throw away cuz I didn’t know if they would take it back. The other day my boyfriend saw a rotten sausage on the vegetarian food fridge that had patchy mold on it that we brought it to the front and told the management they should be more careful with food handling and they didn’t even say a thing about that amount of mold on a sausage that was completely sealed. I mean i wont be coming here as often thats all i can do.

Store was great, staff were great and the layout was great but I bought a food combo that was disappointing. Got a chicken leg with two sides, which were s allop potatoes and Mac n cheese! ,my 2 favorites. Both were undercooked, potato was still on the rawer side amd the noodles for Mac n cheese were undercooked. The jerk chicken leg had great flavor but felt it was over cooked a bit and on the dryer side. Don't think I will buy the hot plate food again but everything else was great and will still continue to shop there

This Metro is not my first choice. They have a terrible selection of fresh fish. Other than that it is fine. I left my basket at the front as I went around getting my groceries. I turned around and the cashier was grumbling about where I left my basket and took it and dumped in a different place. Weird behaviour especially since it was really slow at the time and to make such a show of moving my basket was very off putting and completely unnecessary as there were less than five shoppers in the store.

Went here to pick up a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates. I had my doubles about getting it from here. When I walked through the doors, I immediately smelled the aroma of the flowers. They weren't dried or dying like most flowers I see in supermarkets. They were fresh and extrmely affordable. The boxes of chocolates weren't the greatest but I found what I was looking for. The cashier was friendly and I was in and out if there in no time. It was a wonderful experience all together.

Nice little Metro store with good prepared hot food counter and deli counter with varied selection of meat and cheese. Good selection of cakes send breads in their bakery. The produce department is near the entrance while the meat and dairy sections are at the back of the store. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. They didn't have what I needed but the staff was very helpful and empathetic.

  • 793jmac

Lady in the deli is extremely rude. Does not seem to want to be there. Only gave me half the amount I asked for and threw it on the counter. No thank you, nothing. Very dismissive and rude. She should not be working any job dealing with other people. If you do not deal with her, I will next time I am in by ordering food, and if she is rude I will throw the food right in her face!!

  • Hoora Vali

I went there one Sunday evening. I bought one pack of turkey cold cuts. I did not check the expiry date, just trusted on the supermarket management. When I came home I found out that it was 6 days after the Best Before date. Which is critical for this product. I threw it. So be careful with this supermarket. I will never go there again!

  • Darren Danger

great meat section here, always worth checking out. cashiers can be a bit rude sometimes, but I guess so can the customers.. also I hate the self checkouts here. they no longer have any bags and if you ask for a bag, they will just stare off into space and ignore you… while you struggle to carry all your purchases out of the store.

  • Katherine S

The employees here are super friendly and kind. I called in to ask for an item if they have it in stock and he didn’t know what it was so he went to look himself on the floor for it. He did a above and beyond customer service. Worst Metro Customer Service Location: 600 Sheppard Ave W, North York (Snarky floral department employee)

  • sacha massimo

I use this market, only if I'm walking by it, otherwise it's not a supermarket I like to use, they have poor quality products, and the selection is poor. I bought oysters there 4 months ago, and had to return them ,when I got home and opened the package, most of them smelt bad. But if you need a bagett or dairy stuff they're good

  • Serafin Schardt

Long time since my last visit, have a Metro ten minutes away, but the walk was worth it. Still a great store with top rate meat, deli and veggie sections, as well as the fresh breads and overall selection of all produce. And for Christmas a superb selection of panetones, chocolates and torrones to buy as gifts or to feast upon.

  • Eithne Ni Chuinn

Love this metro!!! Alway good deals on meat and poultry products and a great selection of fruit and veg. Staff friendly and courteous. The deli can be a little frustrating but nothing too bad. Also u can find a few specialty items if u look or ask the staff they are usually very knowledgeable about what they have in stock.

  • M. H.

Friendly staff, willing to help. Good selection of fresh produce, meats and a variety of yummy breads and desserts. I feel sad for the staff, they have to deal with a lot of theft and idiot customers. To the people who steal, "Stop stealing!" When you steal, the price of food goes up, it affects us all, including you!

  • Win AtLife

I hardly ever stop in here but I did this last time. It was disorganized, staff were too busy talking amongst themselves when I needed help. No need to ever go here again. I’ll continue taking my busy to the convenient location of George’s independent city market on the corner of Yonge and Lawrence right off the ttc.

  • Nayan Rajgor

Great little store with Deli and bakery. Deli has several economical options for lunch. I personally like their pizza slices. Their weekly flyer has many deals and are great. Checking the flyer in advance will help you shop within budget. They have a small little free parking area just beside/behind the store.

  • Andrew Farrer

Gritty, well stocked store. Very convenient if you can get one of the limited parking spots at the front. Good for beef when on special but gone quickly. Premium location prices have not been affected by new Loblaws store next door at Lawrence TTC. Lots of veteran, helpful staff which is a rare benefit.

  • Christopher Szado

The people here are wonderful and put that horrible George's grocery on the corner to shame. During covid the staff could not have been more professional and courageous for putting themselves at risk. Every time I walk in I walk out with a smile. Your store makes our community better

  • Ela Pagacz

I treat it as a convenience store. The produce is frequently on it's last legs and make sure you check the best before dates on products you purchase because I've accidentallt purchased quite a few over the years that were past that date. Great, great staff though. Lovely people.

  • Inner Path

I've never seen so many people looking at the prices, buying very little or just nothing, and some even asking for money to buy food. Some employees were changing prices non-stop during their shift. Profit is not a dirty word, but abuse of power and greed in hard times, are.

  • Kevin

This is one of the smallest Metro stores that I have been too in Toronto. I find that however the store is well stocked, lots of fresh produce, deli, dairy items etc. The parking is accessible. One thing that I don't like about Metro is how overpriced they are nowadays.

  • Jc Trujillo

The quality if food is awesome and decently priced but the service is amazing. Everytime we go there we're happy to be taken care of. Especially one employee Terri who goes out of her way to help out. But in general, everyone there is top notch!

  • Michelle Walden

Good prices on fresh meat, pork ribs in particular. Friendly staff, always been helpful. Aisles are tight in places and difficult to navigate while maintaining social distance from other patrons; no one seems to follow the arrows on the floor.

  • joel

This place is local and nice to have in a neighborhood. A big benefit is that there is a little bit of parking beside the store which makes the shopping experience better. The store isn’t large but has everything one might generally need.

  • marla silva

It's not really a place where I like to pick up my food. But I have to, because of convenience sometimes...I always end up regretting it. Cashiers are not nice and always in a very weird mood. It's not a pleasant place in my opinion …

  • Marcena Lau

Clean aisles and store front, ttc passes can be bought here, good customer service - friendly cashiers. Missing a star because the dairy fridge is clearly in need of cleaning - smells of rotting milk, obvious traces of milk at the bottom

  • Toshitaka Saka

On November 2nd, I went shopping at this store just before 8pm. As I went to the self-service cash register, a 45-year-old female employee jumped out from the back room on the right and glared at me for a long time, harassing me. Now I

Metro corp has made a serious error in not making masks mandatory. An umasked store employee started coughing over the deli window. I said your coughing and not wearing a mask. She literally took off. I spoke with the store assistant

  • Denis Thomson

This store has online ordering/curbside pickup down to a fine science. Great phone response to my online orders that were ready very quickly. Great for an old guy like me who [unfortunately] has to minimize human contact during COVID.

  • Lyle Green

You gotta be kidding! Hot foods to go, I was there waiting 5 minutes to be served. I was the only customer there. I asked for a quarter chicken lunch, the hot island was full of cooked chickens for sale, but was told ten to fifteen

  • MD128

This is by far the best metro in the city. Store manager Frank and the whole staff are always a pleasure to interact with. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help with all your shopping needs. Keep up the great work!

  • D

This is supposed to be a grocery store. But you are sure to find those empty shelves, especially for food on sale regardless of the time of the day. There is about one poor guy placing food in the whole grocery store, for about

  • Xiao_teaching Violin

It is very convenient to get to as it located at a subway station. The staff is really kind and helpful. The price is high, as other shop. I did not find what I was looking for because at this location the shop is smaller.

  • Vladimir Sidorkin

We love Erik) the best cashier in the world! He is so good. Such a nice person. courteous and attentive to customers. always choose the cashier where he stands, because he gives a good mood.

  • Andrey Marmash

Better prices than Loblaws and better selection than No Frills. Small store compared to some, but in this case, compact is very good. Recently renovated too.

  • lindamae100

Newly renovated= more selection. Lots of parking, fresh produce, deli, obliging staff..pleasant manager. I enjoy shopping here...never too busy.

  • Prabhat Dakave

Disappointed with burnt pizza slice from Metro. Not up to their usual standards. Hope for better quality next time.

  • Hossein Sajjadian

You cant ask one question from staff! Specially meat department!!! Some prices higher than No Frills and Walmart

  • Gayle Riach

Great store? Helpful, knowledgeable staff, most of whom have been there for years.

It's ok, not as good as other Metro stores, but it has decent prices.
