I'm visiting Adelaide from Far North Queensland. I'm so happy I chanced upon this little gem What a great experience tonight !! For just $16 A screening of 4 short films by Australian film makers, several of whom were available after their film to share how their ideas came about, to discuss technical aspects of the creative process and to answer questions from the audience. It was fabulous Informative and a lot of fun !! I'm not a film maker nor an animator but I really enjoyed the insights Either buy tickets for a screening Or subscribe $25 / month to keep Mercury Cinema prosperous & enjoy special events .. like a special screening coming up A special screening of an episode from The Witcher series with special guest from the creative team to address the guests. Take a friend along to Mercury Cinema !! I can highly recommend it .. and with Adelaide's support it will only be better & stronger & attract more diverse films for us all I would like to have had more time to see a couple of the other films on offer over the next few weeks

Adelaide's best art-house and cultural cinema. The true filmmaker hub of the city. Home of the Adelaide Cinematheque, as well as a wide range of premiers and events. Well priced licensed candy bar. If you are looking to see a quality film that you won't see anywhere else, this is where you want to go.

  • Geoff O'Connor

Great cinema for film buffs, with classic films, new releases, foreign titles and hard to find less well known gems. Screenings on Monday & Wednesday nights are often arthouse. Tuesday & Friday mornings and Sunday afternoons are cheap for seniors and draw large audiences.

Went to a new business launch...what a fun experience...only "complaint" would be the seats were just a little hard and leg room was only just sufficient...apart from that, what a hoot!!! Thank you Steve Davis and Talked About Marketing. …

Mercury Cinema is a crucial window onto the world of cinema and the pulse of it's history. A small, local institution, it is global in its outlook in a way that subversively unearths the democratic and progressive possibilities of that word in screen culture.

  • Kevin Johnson

Absolutely wonderful experience. A small an intimate cinema focussed on the customer. Seating angles guarantees everyone cansee the whole screen. Movies that appeal to very wide audiences. Movie that address social issues that need addressing.

  • Michelle E. Brooks

Excellent small arthouse and specialities screening in a comfortable cinema. Offers other films, usually during the day. Tragically, it is not certain to survive. Please go, and help it to stay open. Adelaide needs it!

The home of alternative cinema in Adelaide - runs on love and the commitment and film-geekdom of its staff. Worth a visit for their special screenings, or picking some favourites from the annual Cinematheque program.

  • Greg Foord

We hired it out and used it to play games, great fun, will definitely do it again. The staff were friendly and approachable, and the cocktails were great. Keen to try it out for an actual movie next

  • Nicholas Anthony

A great place to checkout less common films. You won't find the latest Hollywood blockbusters, but you will find new and classic cult favorites and all at very reasonable prices.

What's a bigger mystery box than a movie theater? You go to the theater, you're just so excited to see anything - the moment the lights go down is often the best part.

  • Margaret Swetenham

I would love to share my thoughts. But my question is how on earth do I find out what is on on Friday Silver screen. Nothing comes up except tonight’s show.

  • Richard Densley

Very interesting non mainstream movies, great price, especially if you join as a member...my movies cost me about $3 each. Also get a cup of coffee and biscuits.

  • Valerie Mobley

We are new members - very impressed with the programme. Is there a Facebook group where we could share reviews and impressions of the various films?

  • David Jobling

Risen again from the (metaphoric) ashes, a makeover and rethink of the whole place has transformed it into a truly excellent centre of excellence.

  • Rod Heaysman

Top venue, we went to a fringe show here and found it an excellent place, comfortable seats and with C-19 distancing, all the room in the world.

  • Diane Sinclair

Great staff very helpful with my friend needing to use a walker the movie we saw was walk with me fantastic mindfullness

  • Oscar

Very cute cinema. Came here to watch a local film and felt comfortable and happy. Would love to come back again soon.

  • Jack

Nice screen and sound . Seats are just the basic that won’t recline. Oh and the beer cost is only $8 per bottle .

  • Jana Panoch

Nice place, getting a scotch and dry from the bar wasn't exactly a smooth process but got there in the end

  • Geoffrey Brown

Not your usual cinema. Lots of bike racks, no imaginary line, not focussed on the next hit. Cinema.
