Difficult review to write, as the team were extremely pleasant, helpful, professional and easy to contact. I imagine for more 'straightforward' repatriations, they would be great to work with. However, there were a series of issues with getting ashes shipped from the UK to Shanghai, which following an initial quote and assurances that everything would be fine, ended up with additional paperwork, realisation that the ashes could not legally travel to shanghai, a very lengthy process, lots of stress, and an unexpected additional £1000 of cost to reach the final destination. I sincerely hope this was just massively unlucky for me, as the team were courteous throughout and certainly did seem to want to get this sorted. It's just unfortunate that they did not appreciate the restrictions in place when I was first quoted and started the process. I am very pleased to say that everything is sorted now, but it took 2 1/2 months and a lot of work for us to reach that point. I do want to thank the team though for their perseverance and for finally delivering my father's remains.

We were at the very end of a wonderful vacation in London when my mother-in-law passed away. We were literally hours from getting on the airplane to come home to the US. The police and medical officials told us to continue with our travel home and leave my mother-in-law in their hands. Fortunately, we found out about Mears from the US Embassy who recommended them highly. Shortly after arriving in the US, I reached out by email to Mears. Immediately, I received a response from Lana. She assured me that they would take care of everything and we had nothing to worry about. And, they did! They took care of everything. Lana was most clear in what documents and information I needed to provide. She provided clear and constant communication through the whole process. The whole process from them retrieving her body to facilitating the autopsy, to the cremation, and ultimately, the return of her ashes went very smoothly. At no time, did we worry, we knew she was in good hands. I most highly recommend them to take of your needs, if the occasion arises.

When my father passed away me and mum were debating if we should bury him in the UK or send him back home to Italy. We thought about if we buried him here he would be alone. None of his family are buried here so we decided to send him back. We went online and searched for a few agencies which could help us with this until we found Mears Repatriation. We spoke to a wonderful lady called Lana who helped us through every step of the way. Mear Repatriation simply did everything for you. All we did was provide the clothing, documentation (passport and death certificates) and the rest they did. At the viewing we were shocked to see how lovely dad looked. He looked so smartly dressed and at peace. If I had to recommend them to families to send there loved ones home I would highly recommend them.

The worst possible thing in life is passing of a child. The amount of pain and grief is crushing, Sharon in Mears took away the worry about getting him back where he belonged with his family. From the initial phone call I could tell she was there to help in any way she could. Sharon was the so responsive and on the ball which made the repatriation so easy (I had thought it would have been very difficult with COVID). Aside from Sharon's professionalism, she was human - we knew that our loved one was being treated with care and that was so so important. During this tragic and sad time of loss and repatriation, Mears were a total support. Professional, knowledgeable and compassionate at all stages. Death is difficult to deal with but when it involves the complicated process to send a loved one back home to their family for proper closure, there is only one International Funeral director who can handle this responsibility professionally. The support team were there answering my questions immediately at all hours and the personal empathetic approach, from Sharon and Patrizia especially, was 1st class. A sincere thank you now that our loved one finally rests in peace.

Dreadful as the circumstances were, Mears Repatriation were a joy to work with. They handled absolutely everything with professionalism and compassion. Brilliant service where Mears handled all the ins and outs to repatriate a loved one back to Zimbabwe. I was kept updated every step of the way and despite some challenges that came up in the process, Mears dealt with the whole process with such sensitivity and dignity from beginning to the end.
