Barry McNulty (Funeral Director) met with my wife Alia and I a day after we learned of my brother Michael's death--Barry was highly recommended by our parish community. Prior to meeting Barry I had no experience with the processes, details and responsibilities after a loved one dies. What was the result of our collaboration with Barrry McNulty? Perfection! Absolute perfection! Barry's combination of knowledge, skill, personal attributes and positive dispositions resulted in customer-centric care that was second-to-none. Commendable! My brother Michael received the finest care. This was paramount for my family and I. Barry was exceptional in every regard. Notable from the get-go was his active-listening skills, thorough requirements elicitation, patience, compassion and attention to detail. Barry tailored options to meet and exceed our specific requirements. He patiently allowed us time to decide on what we wanted--what best met our needs. Our final choice of a solution couldn't have been better--thanks to Barry's guidance, insight and experience. His planning and execution of the services Michael received was impeccable. My wife Alia and I will always look back on our collaboration with Barry McNulty as a godsend.

I haven’t experienced the loss of a parent until recently and it’s the hardest thing to ever go through. McEvoy Shields made things easier for our family as there wasn’t much that we had to do or worry about, they took care of everything. They are all so very kind, compassionate, thoughtful and always available at any time. Even though we’re all going through COVID19 right now where funerals (over 5 people) can not be performed, they presented a beautiful Virtual Remembrance Ceremony for those who have lost a loved one during this time. It was perfect! It was such a beautiful Ceremony/Memorial and closure that we wouldn’t have been able to have for my Dad if not for them. The service we received from McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home was honestly heartwarming and unexpected. We thought this process would be overwhelming and stressful, but it was the complete opposite. Our funeral director Dan did everything right, he responded to our calls and emails without delay, he offered us clear information and pricing and guided us through the entire process with such ease and compassion. He even went above and beyond to make things convenient for us and understood what we were going through. We would go back to them in a heart beat and would recommend them to our family and friends. We are so happy we listened to our relatives and friends who have dealt with them in the past because the experience was a great one despite the unfortunate circumstances.

Everyone was so compassionate and professional. John Murphy came to the hospital so that my aunt could make her final arrangement the very next day. I had reached out to another funeral home that my aunt had mentioned. They would not come to the hospital. I immediately called McEvoy and Shields because this funeral home took great care with my family when my mother passed away in 1991 and when my father passed away in 2001. The staff treated my husband and I with care and compassion 10 years ago when I had an early pregnancy loss. I am grateful to all the staff, who over the years and now, have made me feel supported and cared for during difficult times.

Losing a loved one is a tremendously painful experience. Greg made this difficult journey as easy as he could for our family. He responded quickly, and went out of his way to assist even when he wasn't on call. He was kind, courteous, and did not pressure me into making decisions. He gave space and time for us to think and process. He created a gentle schedule for me so it made providing what was needed manageable. I appreciate his support and kindness. McEvoy -Shields, Back in October 2019 my family lost our beloved grandmother and within 4 weeks, November 2019, we ended up losing the love of her life, our grandfather. My family and I wanted to take a moment to express our appreciation for such a wonderful experience amidst trying times. My father passed away this past November and I was recommended to go through McEvoy. They were nothing but kind caring people. I dealt with probably 4 different people there and a few got to know me pretty well as for a week or so I felt like I was there a lot. My father's funeral was not preplanned and through the process they were there to guide and help with everything. Even after the funeral they were still helping us. This is my second time dealing with McEvoy-Shields in the past 6 months. My first positive experience is what brought me to them a second time. Dan Sullivan is extremely accommodating as well as all the staff I had the pleasure of dealing with. Having to take care of making arrangements for my loved ones from another province during covid proved itself to be very difficult emotionally. We really appreciate how well we were treated at McEvoy-Shields Funeral home. We lost mom on Christmas Eve. They immediately took control of the situation and put us at ease. Chelan and the team at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home were very helpful in making my mother's celebration of life a truly memorable event for our family. Our family is francophone as our first language and they had staff who spoke French. Everyone that I spoke with at McEvoy-Shields were consummate professionals. The funeral director Barry McNulty is honest, respectful of your situation in time of need and very helpful. Barry is knowledgeable and I had every confidence in his guidance during this difficult time. All other staff that my cousin and I met or spoke to did their jobs professionally especially having to deal with COVID-19 on top of everything else. This was our third service with McEvoy - Shields . They were super about going with our flow which was fast and simple. We would run in and out several times and Chelan and the team were always, always , always there to support and make suggestions when necessary. It could not have gone more smoothly from the original set up years earlier to the time of passing and then the service and follow ups. All three of our services have been wonderful experiences. :)

My father died in April 2021 He had prearranged his funeral Eric, the funeral director, that we saw once we were at the church, was professional and kind. Other than that, the other staff were disappointing From the intern who called my sister/family and said my father's body was about to decompose (not true) until the end when the small amount of ashes the family requested --- were not set aside -- and not given to us. Very disappointing and upsetting.

At a time when your Family is in need of professional advice and comfort, Barry McNulty, Andrew, and the rest of the staff were just that. It is one of the moments in life where I felt after .... McEvoy-Shields took care of both my parents with absolute professionalism and dignity. All aspects of their planning and execution was perfect and a great help in dealing with the details and the stress of the funerals. Very quick, professional, supportive and understanding service received. Called in the middle of the night on Christmas day and services were delivered within hours. Finalization of arrangements and paperwork done within a few days. Staff were excellent. I hope it is many years away, but we will definitely use McEvoy-Shields again.
