This mosque does not deserve any stars, to be honest. I think I speak for myself and a few more former students that this mosque caused nothing but trauma. Sure, it's nice when it comes round to iftar and Eid, but that's because people outside the east African community are/were present. This mosque would run classes from 5 to 7. Now, let's talk about the male students first. Their hair would be checked regularly. If it was any form of a "haram" haircut, they'll be sent to the nearest barbers where they'd have to shave off all their hair. If they showed any type of misbehaviour, a pencil would be enclosed in between the middle finger and ring finger. They'd twist it till it hurt. Any extreme misbehaviours, these boys would be sent to the head teachers' office and get spanked or whatever happened in there. Now, moving onto the women, we experienced nothing but inequality, misogyny, and loss of deen. Let's start off with inequality. The women's wudhu place and toilet were always filthy. Speaking of toilets, you can ask to go, but most likely, the answer you'll receive back is a disrespectful "no." The female teachers in that mosque loved to gossip and bodyshame for no reason, like hello, you're here to teach students about hadeeths and the Quran. When it comes down to misbehaviour for the girls, we were yelled at. Disrespected. Embarrassed. Told to stand up (this punishment could last to an hour), told to face the wall (not sure what this one did...) or we were sworn at. Like no wonder the girls of that mosque had low attendance, we didn't want to be treated like animals. Don't get me started on the misogyny there. Yearly, the boys would have this football competition. It was a way of celebrating their hard work, I believe. But what about the girls? I remember I asked why we couldn't do something like that, and I was told (yes, by one of the teachers there) that girls can't play football... excuse me? After we girls fought for our reward, all we got was a picnicI didn't even bother to go. We were bullied by the teachers verbally and mentally. The only students who weren't treated so badly were the sons/daughters of the teachers there. Now, not all the teachers were bad... I can only name like 2 that were really nice. The security of that mosque was horrible! For the 9 years that I've been with them, it has made me feel unsafe. Countless robberies and break-ins. The people outside that mosque were creepy too. The girls had it the worst because we were right outside a whole club or sheesha cafe. I don't know what it was. It came to a point where I and a few others thought the teachers were theives themselves. Basically, we students paid like £25 every month to study there. In addition we paid for books that we NEVER finished. This money wasn't even spent on fixing the leakages from the ceilings. It wasn't spent on increasing the salary for the teachers there. It wasn't spent on any necessities that we actually needed. Every now and then you'd hear a teacher go on "holiday", that holiday would always be Dubai or somewhere in Africa. One of those teachers would literally come back in a "haram" haircut, dripped down with LV... but you sent the boys to get number 1 at the nearest barber shop. Okay. To conclude, don't bring your children here to study. If you want them to be closer to Allah(swt) and learn things about Islam, I personally don't think this is the perfect place for them. Most of the former students are now questioning themselves on religion. The men will turn into women, and the women will turn into men. Some have gone down the wrong path. Some are just lost in life like I am. Some students are still attending, bless them. A lot of students were kicked out for no reason at all (they were probably labelled as the 'naughty students', and the teachers just wanted to get rid of them). Your child will be violated and dragged to the point where they'll start questioning their self-worth.
Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. All are welcome with open arms. Lovely brother(Abdullah) is the local sheikh for the masjid, he is softly spoken welcoming and well grounded in sound Islamic knowledge as he graduated from madinah uni. I love this masjid.
This mosque is really not helpful they kick out children for no reason. They do good stuff for the boys just to congrats them on doing there works but not the girls and THEY SAID GIRLS CANT PLAY FOOTBALL
It's a place of worship for Muslims. And it's where people from different backgrounds come together during the fasting month of Ramadhan to have Iftar. And celebrate Eid together as a community
Very good place to worship allah swt and the people who were there was lovely and friendly people، i my self since then i starter going there often also they serve tea and some sweets.
My sha Allah small mosque in a street corner so if you are looking for it look carefully around you so you don't miss it but with Google Maps you won't be able to miss it I think.
They're very CARING people. They were providing proper IFTAR during the Ramadhan for the whole month for everyone who was there at the mosque during the iftar time
So happy to find a mosque for men and women in city centre, if possible would you please put a sign showing the way to ladies entrance? Thanks
Small but friendly mosque. Khutbah in English with qoutations in Arabic. Nice and clear and well delivered. Jazakum Allah Khairan.
It is very nice, only if they do not give echoes to the voice in the sermons, the stories will be more understandable.
Alhamdulillah. This felt like being back home again. Will be going there when in the vicinity.
Beautiful, serene and friendly environment. Very culturally diverse, open and welcoming.
Although it is a small area, it is full of excellent sermons and religious seminars
Message on the door says it's closed for renovation from July to September
Convenient location but be careful with carpark at rear as we got a ticket
