I found out about Martin's Hardware & Lumber during the Uri Winter Storm. Started coming here ever since, and have been recommending my friends and family to always come here instead of going to Home Depot/Lowe's. But after my TERRIBLE experience here with the associates, Kimberly (who refuses to tell me the location she's at), I will make sure to retract any recommendations from friends/family from coming here. I was in the market to look for some drywall panels, insulation, and PEX pipes for a home renovation project I was working on. After going back and forth with Kimberly for a week, I was only given the information that I needed to by 40 drywall panels to get their wholesale prices on the sheetrocks/drywall panels. Even after I repeatedly asked her for the wholesale price for their drywall panels, she was very circuitous and never answered. I was later told by another associate that I only need to buy 34 panels to get the whole sale price. After I brought this up to her attention, she became very passive and rude. The fact that she was dishonest and tried getting me to buy more.. then having the audacity to be disrespectful afterwards just really boggles my mind. This prompted me to take my business elsewhere that wasn't sketchy, as I would rather give my money to an honest business.

This place is a hole in the wall. The guy who run the business on the SHWY 249 is a teen on his mid 20's and he have no idea about customer service. After purchasing more than $2,000 in lumber and other products I need to return the unused pieces. They try to charge me 15% restocking fee. restocking fee is listed in the invoice. They have a glitch on their invoice system. Without knowing that fee up front or either on the receipt , I'm not obligated to pay that fee. The "Manager,Cashier" told me in a really bad attitude if I want the refund I have to go to the Jensen location , Really? He end up calling the police on me for "Trespassing" police came and after he review the invoice where does not show any restocking fee percentage , he order to refund the entire transaction money withou charging me any Restocking fee. I will never shop in this junk place. Better save some time and headache and go to a big store name like Lowe's or Home Depot , where they have trained and educated people, not kids just got out from high school running a business.

I am a GC and prepaid for 600 cedar pickets for a clients fence. The day they where to be picked up, I received a call saying they had sold my prepaid pickets and where out of cedar pickets all together. Then I was offered redwood pickets at a discounted price...No, I want the cedar pickets my client asked for!! I was told that the delivery for the new pickets was to be delivered on the coming Thursday...no show, Friday, no show...maybe Saturday...refund my money please....Monday, no money refunded....worst service ever...never will use them again!! Caused my business name to be questioned...lost $1590.00 in labor and materials and was fired by the client...Unbelievable!!!

Hello, myself my wife came into the store from a highly recommended general contractor. Myself being a 1st time home owner oblivious to the roofing industry but in dire need of a roof replacement. From entering the store we where graciously greeted and asked if we needed assistance from there we where led to 1 of the owners Frank and he took his time with explaining what we would need for our roof recommended a reputable contractor and within 7 days from walking in the store we will have a new warranted roof, thanks again for all the great and friendly staff! Wonderful mom and pop shop for any of your hardware needs and very quick!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I ordered material, I go to pay, they tell me that they don't have some of the items that I ordered. They tell me, we will call you in the morning, never called me. At around 3 PM I call the store they tell me the material has arrived, but I have to go to ANOTHER store. So I go to the other store to pick up the material, I get there, no material! They do not have the material I have already paid for. Now what? HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

I feel like these guys were trying to scam me. I went there because they had advertised on Craigslist to have the lowest lumber prices in Houston. They then tried to charge me more than Lowe's for 4 4x4's. When I asked about their advertised price he just tried to play stupid. When I started to walk out he tried to drop the price, still more than Lowe's. We settled just above where Lowe's price would have been. But then it took them 15 minutes to get me 4 pieces of wood! I will NEVER go back!!

Review revised down 1/26/21 - Great prices still and service maybe, When you are buying from here but not when you are returning items. If you have to return an item make sure a refund is actually issued and proof is sent. On a few occasions material was returned and no refund issued until we call numerous times to pursue it. Charging a restocking fee on damaged material received seems to be unreasonable and a way to take advantage of clients.

Our contractor went to buy wood but didn’t present our sales tax ID at the time of purchase. Called them to see if I could get a refund for the taxes if I take all my paperwork and they said no. Not to mention everything is super overpriced- $5-$10 more for EACH thing than any other place. I’ve bought material from other lumber places and they all refund taxes when paperwork is presented even if it’s days later. Wouldn’t recommend.

Called to check the price on a gas water heater, the lady was talking to everyone except me.. RUDE! Then the price they have online didn't match the price she tells me! I told her they just posted the sale price two days ago and it says "this week only"... however, she says you have to come today! The sale ends today. . Wth? I didn't kno a week was 3days. Glad my husband is going and I don't have to deal with bad customer service!

this is a great mom and pop store! Everyone in this store knows their product and if they don't they will find someone who does. Not everyone is perfect but at least they try and have a great attitude about it. Just like any other business, where there is a lot of people trying to order their product they could take a couple of minutes compared to a time where there aren't that many. will be coming again for my next project :)

If your in the area I suggest coming to this location because they have a lot of stuff. It seems like the last 3 times I came in the store I was looking for something specific that most stores don't carry. This time it was graphite lube and they have it. It was cheap too. Sometimes it's just the small things that matter so much. The workers are all so very helpful and kind. I really appreciate the great service.

I wish to thank Luis Robles for outstanding service. I ordered material from him to repair the fence at my house and he was extremely helpful, outstanding customer service and very knowledgeable with all our needs. I did encounter a minor hiccup but he was quick to resolve it and have it corrected. Great deal on the product but sub par customer service. Purchasing items for an after-school project with a non-profit and they couldn't do the tax exemtion bc the office person wasn't in. Then when I returned they wouldn't do it bc we didn't have the foem they wanted but we had the form that everyone else takes in the US. I'll be back but I wanted to support the smaller business instead of going to Home Depot.

I bought 200 pickets of western red cedar from Martin's Hardware for my contractor to pick up. When we unloaded them, more than 50 pickets were bad. Many of them had holes, cracks or been split. When I returned these pickets, Martin's Hardware still charged me 15% restocking fee, although they delivered defective materials from the beginning. This place is more like a scam rather than a business to me.

I would like to thank Luis Robles at Martin's hardware for his help. Everytime I come and ask questions about my home projects he knows what I need. The prices are very reasonable. I'm preparing to build a shed, and I've already scoped out the lumber and materials i need for it at Martin's Hardware & Lumber. I will see yall next week. Thank you again Luis. See you soon!

Called in asking price and if they had the lumber in stock. Ordered over the phone showed up and paid waited 20 minutes to load up. Then the guy came up and told us they were out of the wood we bought and the pieces they did have and wanted to give us looked rotten and like trash. Had to drive 20 minutes to a different location wasted way to much of my time.

It's close to my house. I stop in to purchase small hardware items. Prices are reasonable. I do not like the fact that most of the merchandise is behind the counter and I cannot browse. I know they do this to reduce loss of merchandise to shoplifters. The front parking lot is in SERIOUS need of repaving. There are some monstrous potholes.

I have never been in a hardware store in my life where you can actually walk around and look at the things you want to buy they have counters around these people are majorly paranoid that people are going to steal from them and judging by the area that they are located in it does not surprise me

Went in to purchase several items but the service was poor. Clerks walked all over me as if I was invisible. After several minutes of being ignored, I put down the items and left. I was happy when I found a hardware store close to home, but needless to say, I won't be shopping there.

Great customer service! Kimberly my sales rep was very nice and helpful. Then my delivery was amazing I got it on time I was called before they headed out and the driver was very polite and helpful unloading the material.
