Bought a rain barrel online, LV sent an email for Car Pick Up, it said “Car Delivery: Call the store when you arrive, give staff your name and order number, and they'll be happy to bring your order to your car.” They then go on to list their general store number as the number to call to pick your order up. My partner and I both spent about ten minutes each on the phone trying to get help, and ended up getting hung up on or an automated message letting us know that the customer we were calling wasn’t taking calls at the moment. I finally got so frustrated that I put my mask on and walked up to the front door to try and get help and he told me that I was going to have to wait in the rain “like everybody else”. This was advertised as Car Pickup? As I am standing in the rain, someone finally answered the phone!!!!!!!!!!!! They asked what stall I was in, I said “there are numbered stalls?” The assistant on the phone let me know that I needed to drive up alongside the flagpole on the north side of the building to the numbered stalls where you go to pick up online orders. There, where no one can see, is a phone number you can call to pick up your order and have it delivered to your vehicle. I can’t remember what the phone number is, and it’s not available online, so if you’re headed to pick up an online order, just drive past the flagpole on the north side of the building. Aside from the extremely crotchety and rude customer service staff at the front door, this is all on the company and the information that they provide to customers for online pick up. Love the products, but getting them is an incredibly painful process.

I have to admit, I've had a Lee Valley member card so long my id number is only 5 digits. They are still the neatest place to buy tools and odd supplies. I went this time for a 4 1/4" hole saw, theirs is about $10 cheaper than Home Depot, also simply hardened aot super cryo something hardened throughout, but fine for my needs. The saw was fine, and they had a cased kit of hole saws that took the same mandrel on sale so I came home spending about the same as I would have at HD but with 7 hole saws and a nice case. Had to browse, the Festool stuff is to drool over, but way out of my budget. I am looking for a nice chop saw, and this is one of the best I've seen, but at $1,900+ it is just a dream. They have some of the new Rikon stuff out on display, that's a bit more possible. As always, checked the return and discount table and there were interesting things there, a couple of which did come home with me. They have posted the shop as dog friendly, as long as fido is on a leash he is welcome in the store, so you don't have to leave your pet in the car while you shop. There is a sign about helping you sharpen kitchen knives at any time, might be worth checking out.

I love love love Lee Valley. They have been around for ages and specialize in high quality tools, especially for those with an affinity for woodworking. If you are looking for a really high-quality shovel or gardening tool that you will probably pass down to your grandkids, this is the place to find it. They also have very practical items that make your life easier - e.g., silicone muffin pans embedded with a metal base to keep the structure study, all sorts of traps for rodents and insects, and lot of super useful kitchen gadgets that are hard to find anywhere else. This the store that I go to when I am trying to find a good gift for a friend who is hard to buy for – so many novel options here. I’m not into woodworking, but if you are, there are a number of high-end products here that will suit your needs.

First time shopping, I was looking for a Swedish Steel Axe. They seem to be one of the few retailers of such products, especially if you're looking for Hickory wooden handles instead of plastic resin. Turns out they sell out of their Swedish Axes around Christmas Season, but the sales employee was diligent and found the one I wanted hiding in the backroom inventory. My only complaint and why they didn't get 5 stars was the sales employee was not knowledgeable at all on the type of product I was looking at. To be fair Swedish Axes are a bit outside the rest of the inventory they sell, and it maybe that the employee is very well knowledged in other products. Still other than December or January a great place to find Gransfor Burk or Hultafors Swedish Axes.

My favourite place to shop for wood working supplies. You can check stock levels or build an order on their website before you go to the store. Lee Valley is an excellent place for higher-end wood working supplies. From hobby to commercial, they have almost anything you need. Prices are on-par or better than most places. They also have gardening supplies, cabinetry hardware and various other home and outdoor supplies ( though I can’t speak to this area, as I’ve only been to the store for the wood working supplies). The store is always clean and organized. There are a ton of novelty and inventive “impulse buy” items that make perfect gifts for family and friends. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I’m very glad to have a Lee Valley in Winnipeg!!!

Sure lots of cool stuff to look at, but the stupidest system at point of sale. I picked out all my items and didn't need anything from the warehouse and simply wanted to pay for my purchases. There were at least 10 people waiting at the "pickup" area but no customers at the tills. I asked a staff member who informed me I NEEDED A TICKET in order to pickup OR PAY for my purchase. What?!!!! I left my purchases on the counter and walked out. Making you wait to pay, while other people are having their orders picked is beyond stupid. I'm ready to hand over my cash but "take a number", and wait for everyone else. You lost out on my sale today and I probably wouldn't return. I'll make my purchases where my money is accepted more easily.

The first time I discovered LeeValley was about 25 years ago while visiting family in Toronto. My brother in law took me over to their location on Steeles Ave. (sp.?) and I was in awe...….jackpot ! Every visit to T.O. I would get to LeeValley and buy a bunch of stuff (I just got into woodworking) Fast forward several years and BINGO ,they opened a store here in Winnipeg and the rest is history. The staff are absolutely great ,none better in my opinion ,you may bank on that. They carry such a nice selection of tools and hard to find items ,it`s a marvelous store full of treasures ! I`m off to LV this Saturday as a matter of fact and sure do look forward to that !!!!

I shop at Lee Valley regularly for various tools. Lately I've been purchasing luthier tools. What brings me back is the quality of the tools they carry plus the very friendly and helpful staff. My last purchase was a Rikon oscillating spindle sander. I found it damaged while unpacking it in the shop. I brought it back to Lee Valley and of course it was replaced with a new serviceable unit. The staff were great. While one person went to get the replacement another employee did the return receipt and a third brought the 80 pound part out to my car. The people at this Lee Valley make every shopping experience a good one. I highly recommend this Lee Valley.

  • David Burgess

Very friendly and helpful service. I came in looking for some special nuts for bunk beds and the associate took the time to make sure we got what we needed. There is a great selection of woodworking, gardening and kitchen tools here, including gadgets I've never seen anywhere else, and an I selection of books. Some of the prices seemed on the high side, but not unreasonable for a specialty shop, which I think Lee Valley qualifies as. Would recommend and will likely be back. Oh, and there's a sign on the wall advertising a kids craft workshop every Saturday noon to 2 pm. We will be checking that out.

  • Matt

Called Saturday about a specialty drill bit, guy told me I could come into the store and pick it up, or call when I got there and get curbside pickup. When I got there the following Tuesday a different employee told me everything had to be pre purchased online, and would take a day or 2 for them to process/pick the order. They need to get their staff all on the same page. Tools are essential, there is no reason to not allow in-store shopping for essential items, every other store is allowing in-store shopping for essential items. Waste of time, have shopped here lots before but wont be back.

  • Christian Bazin

Great online shopping experience with free in store pickup. In store, almost all items are out on display so you can handle them or even try them out in some case. If they don't have an item out on display, the staff will gladly show you the product. The staff is very knowledgeable in their products and very friendly. I strongly advice ordering online around the Christmas season as they get super busy in the store. (Online order with in-store pickup is still super quick at busy times).

  • A Reimer

Lee Valley is heaven for creative people. The store environment is very calm and welcoming and the staff are lovely and attentive and will most likely volunteer helpful information and facts about your hobbies and interests. I found a really nice magnifying lamp for a reasonable price at a much higher quality than any of the other products I found in other stores. I also found a really interesting book on traditional food preserving methods that I am excited to try.

  • Randy Marchinko

I've purchased many items over the years with the idea that what I buy from Lee Valley is quality merchandise. Lately, however, I think that some of the new products as not up to the quality of the past and perhap just a bit to gimmicky. The quality of the tools, though, still seems to meet their high standard. Finally, I don't care much for the new website look. The old one was much clearer and quicker and easier to navigate.

  • S Adam

Great quality on what they sell....great staff... but.. it's like ordering online while your standing in a store.. I'm not sure what to think about shopping there? You don't have to speak... sort of if a warehouse and a retail store had a child I suppose. However I will learn to endure because of the quality of merchandise and the helpfulness of one particular young lady... I believe that her name was Pam. Overall 2 thumbs up

  • Robin Sukhan

I went into the store on Nov 2 to order parts for a hose reel rack that is leaking. I saw Shawna, the Specialty items person and she was superb to dealt with - very helpful and explained how to replace the parts. The parts were ordered at no charge since the rack has a 25 year warranty. This store sells high quality products.

  • Colin McAndrew

Bought some neo magnets the other day and one cracked, went back to the store without my receipt or the magnet and talked with Mike. He provided me with excellent help and took care of my needs and even gave me extra magnets! These guys are great, and the price directly reflects their quality service and product.

  • murray Warkentin

It was great being there today as we stepped in they where doing the sawstop demo with the wiener so that was really neat . I thinks it happens at 2pm Saturdays. My employees gave me a gift card so I got a tenon tool so I made a 3 legged stool tonight with my boys was fun. Real friendly staff thanks to Ric

  • Ken Ross

Lee Valley is a gem! So many great products you won't find anywhere else. Of course it is largely about woodworking but even if that is not your forte they have great household, garden and kitchen items. Today I bought a special hardware piece for a keybox I am making and a garlic press for my kitchen.

  • Cody P

Lee Valley is a wonderful little store that i have had the pleasure of going to for many years. Staff is friendly and helpful, products are quality but you definetly pay for it. Highly recommended for the hobbyist or the professional who is looking well made tools.

  • Christine Lee

I went to buy magnets on Saturday, May 5th. Unfortunately, one of them cracked that very night! We returned May 6th to purchase some replacements, and Mike exchanged out our broken one. We weren’t expecting that kindness! Exceptional service, and help.

  • Morgan Jachetta

Disappointed. I ordered a Christmas present on December 12th in-store as the item I wanted wasn't available. The clerk assisted me with ordering the item and assured it would be here by today, December 20th. I have recieved no communication

  • luv2bdazzled

It was extremely busy, however my number was called fairly quickly. The gentleman who attended me was very helpful and I never felt rushed. They didnt carry what I was looking for, but I have found them very in the past as well.

  • ToniZ

This time I went to Lee Valley Tools for a knife sharpening seminar. I thought it was worth the $30: well presented, good facility and my knives have never been sharper! Of course, I bought a couple things on the way out.

  • Dav1d Brad1ey

Friendly staff, but things are never in stock and it takes a while to ship, especially if the product is not in their main wearhouse in Ottawa. Also, they rarely pick up the phone for general inquiries. It rings for days.

  • Annie Spams

These guys know their stuff. Knowledgeable, helpful, a grest selection of parts for home repairs and renos, and a better price than rona for what I needed. Just look up your needed part on their computer system for help!

  • Max Rhetoric

Horrible service! Rude lady answered the phone, and sounded irritated that I didn't know the skew number of the product. Then put me on hold and never came back to the phone... I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

  • Wanda Cain Johnson

Lee Valley has a million little goodies but not all are displayed. Although you can shop the store, you also need to check their catalogue. This is a magical store that has something for everyone and every budget.

They have everything you need for woodworking projects and a lot of stuff you didn't even know you needed until you walked in. Took a few minutes to be acknowledged by staff, but they were helpful once engaged.
