Laurenzo’s is an interesting restaurant concept from the same family behind El Tiempo Cantina, The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation, and more. The Laurenzo family has been in the restaurant industry for over 50-years through multiple generations. Domenic Laurenzo, the founder of Laurenzo’s, is the grandson of the late Mama Ninfa, the restauranteur who started it all in 1973. This restaurant is all over the place. It feels like a sports bar with all of the sports memorabilia decor and TVs. However, it’s more of a local American steakhouse with influences from Italy and Mexico. They are specifically known for their Prime Rib, but they have pizzas, pastas, fajitas, burgers, and more. They have a free private parking lot with plenty of spaces in the front and back. Depending on when you come to dine, you may need a reservation, as it was quite busy on a random Saturday night. When we were seated, they immediately gave us some complimentary bread and butter. +Complimentary Bread and Butter - 4/5 As I am a big fan of the margaritas at their sister restaurant, The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation, I wanted to check them out here as well. [DRINKS] +Blood Orange Rita (Herradura Reposado tequila, Chambord, Grand Marnier, blood orange, and cinnamon) for $17 - This didn’t do it for me. It’s big and boozy, but I wasn’t a fan of the flavor. - 3/5 As for food, we went with a Greens salad, Prime Rib, and French Fries. [INSALATE] +Small Greens (greens, smoked bacon, egg, croutons, tomatoes, carrots, roasted corn, and red cabbage) with honey lime vinaigrette dressing for $10.99 - This was a regular salad. - 3.5/5 [PRIME RIB] +12 oz Prime Rib (sub small salad for sides for an extra $4) for $47.99 - We replaced the small salad with the French Fries. The French Fries were excellent. They tasted like the thicker, wedge potato fries, but they remained thin. I personally liked them a lot and would give them a 4.5/5. As for the Prime Rib, it was definitely juicy. The taste of the meat was just okay, nothing crazy. - 3.5/5 Overall, Laurenzo’s was a fun dining experience. My favorite part was the French Fries. The margaritas and prime rib were okay. They do have other items on the menu I would like to try next from the Prime Rib Quesadillas and more. The service is hit or miss. The host was incredible at his job, but the servers dismissed our multiple requests to get a straw for a drink (we asked 3 times). If you want to experience an interesting local steakhouse from the same family behind the best Tex-Mex restaurants in Houston, check out Laurenzo’s. Come for the fries at least.

November 5, 2023: Upon arrival - our party of three (for a birthday dinner) was greeted by a gentleman that welcomed us to Laurenzo's and opened the door for us to enter the restaurant. We were asked the number in our party at the front and were promptly seated at a table near the center of the restaurant....that had a slight wobble. Oscar, our waiter, immediately noticed it upon bringing bread and beverages to our table. He returned with wedges and napkins for placement underneath; problem solved . Our order was promptly taken: oysters as an appetizer (interesting breading on the oyster but tasty; oysters have been smaller in size this season unfortunately), and our entree orders. Our entrees (shrimp/oyster platter w/mashed potatoes and green peas, lasagna w/fries, and beetand walnut salad with salmon) arrived and we were pleased with the portion size and taste. Seeing is believing so enjoy the photos. The waiters were kind to seranade us a bit while bringing the birthday dessert. We expect birthday desserts at higher end restaurants but Laurenzo's has set the bar with the one offered at their establishment with sparkler candle and the traditional candle. I'm not a chocolate cake (or brownie) fan (I prefer yellow cake as well as lemon cake) but their cake/brownie reminds me of german (semi-sweet) chocolate cake - DELICIOUS without the ice cream that was provided with it (nice touch and was enjoyed by the others at the table). We enjoyed the food and ambiance at Laurenzo's; kudos to Oscar, the Laurenzo staff and family. The guests also enjoyed the Texans winning the game .

What a terrible disappointment this restaurant was. I called to make reservations the day before my husband's birthday and told them it was his 65th birthday. I asked to have a bottle of champagne chilled and at the table? Well, we got there, and no champagne. I made the reservation for 6:15 pm on purpose. I hoped that by making it earlier in the evening, it would not be so crowded, which it was not, lending itself to good service, which it was not! The entire meal was mediocre, at best. My son's dinner was so disappointing that I cut my burger in half and split it with him. My other son ordered the chicken pesto panini. What he got was a chicken breast on the exact same bun as my hamburger, and it was neither grilled or toasted, it was not even warm. They even forgot to put on the fresh mozzarella. We repeatedly had to ask for a beer that was ordered when we 1st got there and we continually had to ask for our water to be refilled. The final straw was this: when I made the reservations I specifically asked if they could please bring out a slice of their Italian cream cake with a candle so that we could wish him "Happy Birthday" vs me bringing a cake? I was told “yes” it was no problem. Well, that did not happen either. I should have said something right then and there but did not want to ruin his bday dinner anymore than it already had been, so I waited until I got home and called Laurenzo's. I asked to speak to the manager on duty but was told he was busy and wold return my call "shortly." I waited 1 hour before I called back only to be told that the manager had left for the night and I would have to call back tomorrow! So, my husband’s 65th birthday dinner was nothing short of horrible. Edited to add: I called again and left 2 addit'l messages for the manager to call me. I am still waiting......... We will not be back.

Ok soooooo I love good food and I enjoy going out a great deal, however what really makes it “special” for me when I go out is the total experience not just the food. There are some restaurants that have great food, but I’ll not give them a single dime because the customer service is so poor. This is NOT the case at Laurenzo’s! I have not had a bad meal, nor have I experienced poor customer service. I failed to take a photo of my food tonight because I just dug in, but I had the filet mignon with grilled shrimp , asparagus, queso blanco rice, and the AMAZING creamed corn !!! Lemme tell you I am FAT FULL and ready for a nap ! This is a must go to if you are visiting Houston or if you live in Houston. The atmosphere is very chill and gives very much a friendly home type vibe! The staff are all welcoming and provide you with awesome service. The one opportunity for growth they have is they don’t serve sweet tea. I am willing to forgive this though because everything else is A1! The floor supervisors all come around and check in at appropriate times to ensure you are having an awesome dinning experience! I am 100% a fan of Laurenzo’s!!! I implore you, give this place a try, you will NOT regret it! (If I miss spelled something charge it to my head and not my heart! I’m writing this after a full meal and I just want to lay down and relax!!) :-)

Normally, I completely enjoy Laurenzo's BUT today I left disappointed, and unsatisfied. The space was great. The wait staff was great BUT the food TODAY was not to my liking and that's unusual . I'm always up for something new and keep an open mind. I've been there many times over the years but TODAY, I left unfulfilled. My eggs on my Old Cape Cod Benedict was "boiled" instead of "poached" and I had to ask the waiter was there ANY crab in my Benedict. He said, "yes" and I believed him but my taste buds disagreed. I lived in the south all my life and is open to everybody's version of grits but "these grits" were "not grits" at all. I tasted "a grit" every couple of bites because whatever that mixture was in it, dominated the entire recipe. It's like when non-coffee drinkers have a "LITTLE" coffee with their cream. (For those who don't get it. That means way more condiment then substance.) Lastly, the crepe pancakes were overcooked to the point the texture was more elastic then it should have been and it lacked any flavor. It was inedible and I love crepe style pancakes. Everybody and I mean everybody has an off day sooner or later but I hate when their off day spills onto my Treat Myself Day.

Been here twice. Make sure Oscar is your waiter. He's attentive, funny, and will make sure you're well taken care of. Bellini drink: 5/5 Coconut shrimp: 4/5 (don't like the orange-flavored dip) Cheesecake: 4.5/5 Ravioli: 3/5 Fish & chips: 5/5 Free bread with butter: 5/5 Chicken parmigiana: 3/5 Lasagna: 3/5 Creamed spinach: 5/5 All dishes taste fresh. The flavors in the lasagna and ravioli were meh. Not a fan of either. The ravioli sauce could be better. The dish I enjoyed the most was the fish and chips. The batter for the fish was different than at other places I've had fish and chips. And the fries were the right amount of crunchiness with good flavor. The tartar sauce was good but the ketchup had a mild horseradish flavor that I didn't like. The service overall is great. The restrooms are clean. The decor is vintage with a lot of sports memorabilia. I don't know if it’s because it was Mother's Day and lots of people but it was quite cold.

Amazing! My wife and I wanted to try somewhere new last night and we ended up here. The food was sooo good! They bring you bread when you first sit down and it’s warm and soft and delicious. We first ordered a small, white Chile con queso that was so good I was tempted to drink it! As I was looking through their vast menu, I noticed something very unique that I had to try, prime rib quesadillas. I’ve never even heard of prime rib quesadillas before, and I’m upset I didn’t have them sooner! I can’t properly explain how delicious they are. The meat was perfect, the dip it came with was perfect, and the seasoning was out of this world. I could definitely eat those quesadillas every day, they were absolutely AMAZING! And the service was great! They have people going around refilling chip baskets and water, so you’re never out for long and your food is delivered as soon as it’s ready! Rene took care of us last night, he was friendly, he knows the menu very well, and he’s a great server! Overall, 10/10. If you haven’t tried Laurenzo’s, you need to!

My husband and I had dinner here for our anniversary. Our daughter is about to make her way into this world and we wanted to go to a restaurant just the two of us before she arrives. We made a reservation and were immediately seated. Once seated, we were given the house bread which was perfectly warm. Eric, then greeted us and returned with our beverages. Eric was attentive and prompt. Thank you, Eric! We started with the crab cakes, which were phenomenal! Let's not forget about the amazing clam chowder. I had the lemon butter fish topped with crab and shrimp. Y'all this dish was absolutely amazing. I was not entirely impressed with my side which was the whipped potatoes and gravy. We finished our dinner by sharing a warm brownie with ice cream. All in all, the experience was amazing and we're happy we chose to come here.

We celebrated my mama’s 60th birthday yesterday at Laurenzo’s and it was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! From the moment you walk in, the staff greet you and present high quality professionalism/catering. Our waiter, Michael, was EXCELLENT. He was very patient and responded to every single request (all while servicing multiple large groups). Beto also assisted us and treated us like family. The management and staff clearly know what customer service is about and we will be making a tradition of continuing to come to Laurenzo’s. I ordered the pizza and I loved the New York style crust and the flavor of the sauce and Italian sausage. The Italian crème cake was so good! My father ordered the prime rib and he was highly satisfied with the quality. My aunt greatly enjoyed the chopped steak as well. My uncle indicated that the seasonal beer is delicious. Do yourself and your family a favor by coming to this restaurant because it’s UNFORGETTABLE! ❤️

I came here with my family and it was delicious! I got the blackened prime rib pizza pie and crab cakes for the table. The 1 crab cake of the 2 that I ordered pretty much filled me up. My family was able to order food according to their dietary restrictions as well which was great as they have to keep an eye out for sodium, carbs, and sugars. We were seated quickly and the service was amazing. They came to check on us and clear the table often so that we were not crowded by dishes. When packing our items to go, they gave us new side sauces and packed our food for us. I was overall left with a great impression of this restaurant and it's wonderful staff! Definitely a great place for families or your work lunch!

My first time at Lorenzo's and it was incredible evening meal! Ticked all the boxes for each of our party of 4...delicious food (I had fried shrimp which I seldom order when out, due to suspicious nature of freshness) and it was awesome...fresh, crisp and everything I could have wished for; with a side of stuffed baked potato. The others all had Prime Rib, and "yummmmm" was all that was said while enjoying each bite. Wine, although a red, was chilled just a tiny bit to add to the fullness of flavor (so good). Our waitperson, Eric, was attentive, personable and was a boon to our overall pleasure. We will be going back!

What an interesting place. Feels like it could be in Goodfellas. Laurenzos is listed as a steak house but could easily be Italian, American, or Mexican. They hit all four. It creates an odd sense of identity. This isn't a negative for me, just different. The food, service, ambiance and decor were great. I had fried oysters and the ribeye with asparagus and cream corn. Everything was fantastic. The steak was a touch on the thin side for the price, but it was cooked perfectly and seasoned wonderfully. Really good steak. Our server was highly attentive and engaged. I regret that I can't remember his name. The decor is old school but fits the vibe and the ambiance was enjoyable. If you're in the area I highly recommend and I would return. Enjoy.

Thought it was going well until we sat at the bar and noticed dust, a drunk woman over-served next to us talking as if a mic was in her mouth, a lady in the kitchen who coughed on her bare hand and then picked up a food plate only to visually see a man walk to the back of the kitchen where the microwave is at-and take out food that was being microwaved to be served to a table? Yuck. What would Chef Ramsey say? Extended menu. That's a no-go. Overpriced for the quality of restaurant you are dining in. This restaurant needs a face lift seriously inside and out. I don't mind wining and dining, but we left after drinking the one item on the menu that I felt was not contaminated - AquaPanna.

This is a legendary restaurant in Houston. They absolutely specialize in prime rib so if you want the most mouth watering food this is your place. They have a huge selection of American food options that will appeal to those who may not have the best eating habits. Conversely there are items that will appeal to the best and healthiest of eaters. It covers the gamut so explore, enjoy the best service in town, get a great drink, look at the history on the wall etc. You won't regret it. My personal favorite dish is the prime rib quesadillas. It's epic

First time at this restaurant, wifey and I are huge fans of El Tiempo and Ninfas and so I made the executive decision to come here. The margarita was top notch as was the Sweet Tea mojito. The fried calamari was absolutely delicious and we both agreed it was one of the best ones we had ever had! I had the Durango Redfish and I absolutely devoured it, wifey had the chicken parmigiana and it too was great! Honestly, from the service all the way down to the food, everything here was top notch and I really would recommend to friends and family without a doubt!! Good stuff guys!!

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Laurenzo's and I was very pleased with their service. I never felt rushed even after arriving late for our reservation. Their staff was attentive to our needs. The food was good and the atmosphere was perfect. They placed our party in the back away from everyone which made the celebration even that more intimate. Thank you laurenzo and staff for the quality of service you provided.

Food was ok, but nothing special. Overpriced for the flavor and service. It was good for one time, but not that good for me to return. I enjoyed the fact that fajitas were well done and juicy. The mini charro style beans tasted good since they had meat, although I would improve them by removing the sausage. Restroom's very clean. It has 2 parking lots. The one on the back needs several improvements! Concrete, paint, and those windows must be washed.

Excellent visit to Laurenzo's! The crazy menu sort of makes your head spin with Prime Rib, Mexican, Italian, and seafood? Of course we ended up ordering....seafood! The red fish Durango was so tasty and had just the right amount of spice. My spouse had the Shrimp and Grits and she said they were delicious. I started with a Ceasar Salad which was under dressed and so it honestly was just ok. Service was a bit slow to greet us, but he was busy. After the initial start, service was incredible. Try it, it was a great experience with a really family friendly environment.

Our first time here and would recommend. Somewhat odd blend of steakhouse, Italian and Mexican options, but it works. Started off with a great, boozy rye based old fashioned. Asked for it to not be too sweet and bartender nailed it. Juan provided excellent service and recommendations. The Durango redfish was crazy good. Amazing sauce. It sounds over the top with jalapeños and bacon, but boy does it work. Juan recommended white rice for a side and he was on point...need to soak it up and get that in the belly...delish. Wife's linguini was delish and clearly homemade pasta. Reminds me of an old school steakhouse with sports playing.

Service is ALWAYS impeccable from start to finish. Every menu item is made with fresh, quality ingredients and they’re great about accommodating guests needs. It’s spendy though - meats, seafood and poultry are fair-market price so prepare yourself and know that you’re not getting Applebee’s steak. The lunch menu is good and portions are huge. I love the shrimp po-boy. It comes with a small side salad or soup and another side. The fresh cut fries are delicious and could feed a family! Save room for key-lime pie!

The food here is so good. The queso tastes like 500 calories/bite... and worth the 50 miles I'll need to jog to get get rid of it. The drinks were good too, made strong. I absolutely recommend trying this spot. It's on the pricey side.. they have a $20 cheese burger as an example, but you won't be disappointed. The menu is a solid mix, so there is so something for everyone in the party. It's mostly Italian and steaks, but there are plenty of American/hispanic favorites as well.

On Friday 12/14/23 we went on a dinner date for the first time we were excited to try the steaks but it was not worth my money. I got a rib eye wanted it well done and after 2 times of returning it at the end it was over cooked still not well done but didn’t want to keep complaining since our waitress didn’t have that much of a good attitude either. I like the white queso and chips and atmosphere. But steaks I had better.

This place has that old school cheesy class that is just so nostalgic. There is detail to every inch of the restaurant, servers dress in matching formal wear, but it is more of a business casual joint. This place is PACKED for every meal, and once you eat there, you get it. Their number one special is the prime rib, either cut into succulent steaks or sliced onto the best french dip I've had in my life! The menu is expansive, but everything has an air of quality and care. I look forward to returning many times to see if they make anything wrong! Haha. Keep it up guys.

  • Benjamin Calderon

This restaurant has horrible customer service. From the beginning the hostess where rude and standoffish. I had to stand in front of the hostesses for nearly 5 minutes before I was acknowledged. This is completely unacceptable. A simple "be with you in a moment sir" should've been stated. We arrived at our reservation time, and waited over 30 minutes to be seated. While other patrons were sat prior to us. I will not be returning to this horribly rude establishment. To be fair; the food was fair, the drinks good and the actual server was pretty good.

  • Citlaly Estrada

I wish the bread was that thicker and more dense type French bread but it's still okay. The side soup is served in a shot glass it's so tiny I mean. Very good reminds me of back home but it's more of like the kind you serve if your tables food will take long and it's given out for free because it's so small. Coming from Chicago and eating this kind of food regularly the price it had didn't add up to it's expectations. The staff saw us waiting and nobody really said anything they came back after a third time of just staring at us it was kind of odd.

Must try the clam chowder! Besides the chowder, not that memorable of a restaurant. The restaurant decor is confused, it looks like it would be upscale with pricey menu items, but then there's flat screens all over showing games and there's jerseys plastered all over. Our waiter kind of dampered our mood. He gave us looks because we wanted to share an entree, even though we ordered two appetizers and dessert. The blackened chicken had an overly strong burnt taste and wasn't seasoned well.

Great place in Houston to indulge in delicious food! We loved to eat here every time we visit Houston. We do see a lot of attorneys, especially two very interesting ones by the name of Morfin and His Dad. We were told that they were regulars. The place has great margaritas, Houston’s Best! I’m not a drinker , but my friends are, and this is their drinking Favorite place. Congratulations to the owners. Most sincerely, B.C’s entourage of Hawaiian Customers

Amazing service. Way overpriced for what it is. I would consider this a typical restaurant that's they have tried to sell as upscale. It's nice, but it isn't that nice. Desserts were way better than the meal. Prime rib had a outer layer that was extremely difficult to cut through.... for $57 I shouldn't even need a knife.

Great place for business lunch or casual dinner. Lively atmosphere but quiet enough to have a conversation. Been here multiple times and they never disappoint. This visit I had the daily fish special (redfish) prepared Durango style — sauce was sautéed tomatoes and jalapeños with plenty of shrimp and crabmeat. Came with cup of seafood gumbo which was very good as well.

This place feels like my second home. Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I can't resist ordering the shrimp and grits—it's my go-to comfort food. However, I'm a bit disappointed that they leave the tails on, as it wasn't always like that. I'd rather not have to "work" on removing the shells when I just want to enjoy my meal. Overall, it's a wonderful place to dine and savor quality time with great friends and family.

There’s something really wonderful about Laurenzo’s. My husband and I wanted something amazing that wouldn’t destroy the wallet and Laurenzo’s went above and beyond expectations. We ordered a couple ribeyes, I got the asparagus with mine, and they were absolutely incredible. The staff were all very kind, the service was excellent, and the decor was eclectic and festive. If we are ever in Houston again, Laurenzo’s will be at the top of the list of places to eat at.

This place is so overlooked. I always go for brunch and mimosas. The brunch is different but so good and the mimosas are good as well. The atmosphere is more of dinner style so not the typical brunch feel but I love it. The prices are reasonable and the staff has always been friendly to me. Great service, great meal, nice atmosphere lunch and dinner with all the big shuttered windows. The menu is a bit expansive, but I've never had a bad entree here... It would b nice if the width of the wine menu matched the beef selection. Prime rib is my favorite for dinner. The ceviche and the fried calamari were great apps ...both with original recipes...At lunch I like the gumbos and salads w proteins. Enjoy!

Everything was on point from the crab cakes and calamari as appetizers to the prime rib and a warm fudgy brownie with ice cream for dessert. Really cool jerseys and pictures all over the walls, too.

Amazing experience. My new favorite restaurant. Great food and great service from Milton! Lifelong Houstonian and kicking myself for not getting here sooner. Prime Rib is second to none. Horseradish is homemade and top notch. Table also had a spicy prime rib pizza and the meat melted off each bite. Finally the Italian cream cake was 8 layers of perfection. Get in there soon and ask for Milton!

“Thursday steak night”. $39.99 any steak plus a side and a salad. I had a prime rib. It was unbelievable and the Caesar salad was also great. service spectacular and the atmosphere was perfect. Love this place.

Great food, amazing atmosphere and all around well priced. Staff was very attentive and thorough with their service. I had the 12oz prime rib blackened with a side of creamed peas, cooked perfectly to right temperature and peas had the perfect balance of whipped and sweet without it being overbearing.

We had a great meal and great service. Our waiter, Oscar, was fantastic. The prime rib was delicious and so tender, like butter. That was the best French dip sandwich I've ever had. I sampled the gumbo and wow, so good. We will definitely be back!

Took my wife here for their lunch/happy hour and I was not disappointed. The lunch included a soup. I got the gumbo and it was amazing. We have a few drinks and the total bill was not bad for the quality of the food and drinks. Service was amazing and they came around often to refill my water. We will be back soon for lunch or dinner.

Came in for a late Friday afternoon lunch and sat at the bar. Laurenzo's is a Houston staple. Elegant ambiance, polite wait staff and ample parking. I ordered the Corned Beef Reubenzo. Took less than 15 minutes to prepare and, even less for me to finish it! Simply delicious. I've been coming here for years and will continue to do so.

  • Jason Canlas

This place serves delicious food. There is no doubt about that. Main dishes are expensive though. All fish items start at 30 bucks. Steaks start just over that and go up past 50 dollars with none of the special toppings included. There are options for cheaper meals (pasta and sandwiches). I would go back again.

For the price of the food it's pretty average. I had the fish with a salsa crab topping. I wasn't impressed. Customer service is 5 star and the ambiance is great for a date night. I won't be back. For that kind of money, the food needs to be as good as the service and decor.

Great place for good eats with good friends! Loved their brunch menu. The Fort Sheridan (basically Eggs Benedict with Lamb Chops & pico de gallo, mascarpone cheese grits, and crepes) was delicious! Our waiter was also excellent! He made a mean French Martini.

  • David Ballard

A bit of a miss on my brunch visit. It's a really pretty venue and I was excited to try Laurenzo's based on other restaurants they own. Service was a pain, our server was eating five booths over - would check on us and then go back to eating.

Great staff and host and margaritas with their own branded tequila that you can only drink there..well, to go also now thanks to #CVD. Great prime rib and pork chops and pizza. I just wish it was spelled Lorenzo's and i would go there daily.

French Dip has been my.favorite as a child and I've eaten more than my share over the years. Laurenzo's has the best French dip I've have in the last 40 years! No joke! The staff is very attentive and friendly and the amosphere is great!

  • Ken SpringTX

Had the fried Oysters... A little small compared to others. Some we're great, some chewy to the point that I could not eat. Coleslaw was a little chunky and hard to eat... Not bad but not a seafood restaurant. Will visit again.

  • JoAnne Harrison

Great baked potato and fried pork chops with mashed potatoes & gravy but you just shouldn’t over cook a $60 rib eye. No waiting to be seated and energetic wait staff. Crusty break served with yummy compound butter upon arrival.
