If you're a bread enthusiast in Ybor City, look no further than La Segunda Bakery. Nestled in the heart of the city, this charming bakery has garnered a well-deserved reputation for its delicious assortment of baked goods and, most notably, its mouthwatering La Patrinostro sandwich. First and foremost, let's talk about the star of the show: the La Patrinostro sandwich. Prepare your taste buds for a flavor explosion! This delectable creation features layers of succulent salami, ham, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, shredded lettuce ,oil & vinegar and their signature freshly baked Cuban bread. Each bite delivers a perfect harmony of textures and tastes that will leave you craving for more. The combination of tender, juicy meat, tangy pickles, and the slight crunch of the bread is simply divine. La Patrinostro sandwich is a must-try for any sandwich aficionado visiting La Segunda Bakery. Beyond their sensational sandwich, La Segunda Bakery takes pride in their large loaves of fresh bread. Step inside the bakery, and you'll be greeted by the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread wafting through the air. Whether you're in search of a traditional French baguette, a hearty sourdough, or their famous Cuban bread, you'll find an extensive selection of bread varieties to suit every preference. The loaves are baked to perfection—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside—making them an ideal accompaniment to any meal or a delightful treat on their own. As you explore the bakery further, you'll be delighted by the wide array of baked goods on offer. From flaky pastries to decadent cakes, La Segunda Bakery has something to satisfy every sweet tooth. Their assortment includes traditional Spanish pastries like empanadas and guava pastries, as well as American favorites such as muffins and cookies. Each item is crafted with care, using high-quality ingredients, resulting in an irresistible medley of flavors and textures. Apart from the delectable offerings, La Segunda Bakery also boasts a warm and inviting ambiance. The staff members are friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to assist you in choosing the perfect treat. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite on the go or looking to linger and savor the flavors, the bakery provides a cozy space to enjoy your food and soak in the delightful atmosphere. In conclusion, La Segunda Bakery is a true gem for bread lovers and pastry enthusiasts alike. When you pay almost $30 dollars for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee and you don't get what you paid for!!!!!! I ordered through Uber eats because I was at work and I was very busy. I was starving and hadn't eaten breakfast so I decided to order a sandwich breakfast, I clicked on the option to add avocado to the sandwich, I saw that adding avocado to my sandwich would be an additional $2 dollars, I really love avocado so I was ok with the upcharge. I also ordered a large coffee, the large coffee was almost $8! I got my order and I didn't look to much into my food before digging in because I was sooo hungry, then after a few bites I realized that there was NO avocado added to my sandwich and then I take a sip of the expensive coffee and it has a chemical taste to it. I was sooo mad that I over payed for coffee and a breakfast sandwich and then didn't get what I requested and the quality wasn't up to par with the price. I ofcourse ate the sandwich because again I was sooo hungry and I had to throw away the coffee and I wasn't able to call and let them know about this bad experience because I literally ate my sandwich fast and got super busy with work and didn't get a chance to call them. I am now just getting a chance to leave them this review, and to let everyone know to check their food before the delivery person leaves or before you leave the bakery. I will also be reaching out to Uber eats and sending them pictures and letting them know about this horrible experience.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting la segunda Cuban bakery, and I have to say, it was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the most amazing aroma of fresh-baked pastries and breads that instantly transported me to the colorful streets of Havana. The display cases were filled with a wide variety of sweet and savory treats, and I couldn't resist trying a little bit of everything. The guava and cheese pastries were a standout for me, as well as the classic empanadas filled with flavorful beef and vegetables. But what really impressed me was the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail in each item. Every bite was bursting with authentic Cuban flavor, and it was clear that the bakery takes great pride in crafting each and every pastry and baked good with care and precision. Of course, no visit to a Cuban bakery would be complete without a cup of strong, delicious Cuban coffee, and this bakery did not disappoint. The cafe con leche was rich and creamy, and the perfect complement to the warm pastelitos de guayaba The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, offering suggestions and recommendations to help me navigate the menu and find my new favorites. And the atmosphere of the bakery was warm and inviting, with colorful decor that celebrated Cuban culture and history. Overall, I would highly recommend this Cuban bakery to anyone looking for an authentic taste of Cuba in a welcoming and friendly environment. From the delicious pastries to the warm hospitality, this bakery is a true gem that I can't wait to visit again.

Wow wow wow. I traveled to Tampa to see the Baltimore Ravens play. so, I stayed a couple of days and I was advised to stop at this bakery. Another coworker suggested a particular location . But I went to this one. this is not a chain. So this is not a Krispy Kreme, meaning, these are real people baking this heavenly goodness. It's not a machine. I don't know who's back there baking , but oh my God!!! :) . I tried to take as many pictures as possible for people to see . They had so many people in the lobby waiting to be served and they were fast and it was clean in there. I purchase one item because I love sweets so I had to really exercise some willpower. But the item that I bought was a Quesito. Look at how golden brown it is.... it's a pastry filled with cream cheese. And the cream cheese wasn't overly sweet. There's some sort of glaze on top of the pastry it reminds you of honey but it wasn't honey. I don't know what it was but like literally I wish I had bought several to bring home I don't want to mention names but you can look at my other reviews and potentially a bakery (in Owings Mills) can take notes) La Segunda, oh my. This is the god honest truth if I return to Tampa it will be to eat! there were some interesting restaurants I wanted to try and this Bakery alone; I wish I could have something overnighted.. I hope everyone finds these pictures helpful. Make it your business to go to this Bakery. You won't be disappointed, I promise you.

Parking is limited but there is on street parking all around the bakery but just watch the signs. I would recommend going early or ordering online. We got there at 10 and there were 4 other folks in line before us BUT it took :30 minutes to get one egg sandwich. After you a wonderful and very friendly, young woman takes your order (no complaint on how nice everyone that works there) another woman will help you with your cookie order (I got a 1/4 pound assortment- butter cookie, wedding cookie, Florentine, etc). Then we waited for our egg sandwich for about :30. And there were LOTS of people that crammed in while we waited. If you are nervous about the new Covid, wear a mask and order online. There were a few older folks with masks. We ate in the car and I will say it was tasty! Crunchy, with tomato, avocado and egg and hot!!!! Almost worth the wait! I’ll order ahead next time and there was a bit of chaos, which line to wait in, folks cutting the line, almost getting into a fight in front of us. Perhaps they should have a greeter helping folks when they arrive? Just a thought. So nice that it is 100 years in the making but just a few adjustments to make it nicer for those that are new.

This is the second time that I am missing an item from an order. I called La Segunda to try and understand why I was missing a portion of my order and they let me know that they were out of the item that I ordered and that I was going to be issued a refund. I ordered online so I am sure that is why I am not seeing the refund and that it would come back into my account within 3-5 business days. That's fine and all but I was hung up on when I asked for the individuals name who I spoke with just in case the item didn't show up as being refunded and I needed to call back. When I called back the individual apologized and stated that they didn't mean to hang up on me but I am fed up. I want my money back and you would think that someone who is an Ybor resident and frequent patron might get some common decency when asking why an item hasn't been received but I guess not. I won't be back and I will be reaching out if I do not receive the refund.

Went for breakfast and ordered a cafe con leche and a breakfast sandwich with egg, provolone cheese, and ham. I also ordered a Cuban bread to go. For the money these were high quality items and one can appreciate the gourmet taste of the freshly-prepared fare. The operation is in historic Ybor City and has been around for over a century. A must if in Tampa. I hear it gets busy and you can place an order online for pickup to skip the line. When I went (Sunday around 9:15am) it wasn't too packed (maybe 5 people ahead of me but the line didn't take long). -Aug 2021 Still fantastic. Went with the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich and it was amazing. Also got Cuban bread and sandwich for lunch. Will be back. -Aug 2022 Once again, the food continues to impress. Same breakfast sandwich ordered but I also carried out a media noche and deviled crab. -Aug 2023

“Go to” for “cafe con leche” and fresh Cuban bread, only. Those are the two most consistent items on the menu. There’s almost always a line but they’re quick taking orders. Be prepared to wait and double check your orders! They have missed sandwiches, gotten sandwich ingredients wrong, and even mixed up pastries. Sandwiches are great (Cuban sandwiches made with real pork!), food is good and pastries are hit or miss. Quality seems to have gone down over the years unfortunately but they are accountable for their mistakes. That accountability makes up somewhat for the inconveniences they can create. I will return but in less moderation.

I came (no longer) to this bakery every morning; breakfast sandwhiche and my cappuccino is a must! I pay over the phone and have my hubby pick it up. I have a great relationship with the workers at this bakery.today I am VERY disappointed in the way the manager spoke with me on today. I was told by a young lady over the phone I could grab a pastry after 3pm. Upon arrival, the manger wouldn’t even listen to me he kept cutting me off and screaming we’re closed. Never met this Hispanic man in my life and when I asked him to stop speaking to me that way and that his employee gave me incorrect information he kept screaming “WE’RE CLOSED” it sucks I just moved to Tampa and have to find a new bakery. As someone who spends my money there 5 times a week. I will never return.

This is the original location, the epicenter of Cuban bread and the source of the best Cuban sandwich anywhere, along with many other tasty treats. The Ybor location does not have indoor or outdoor seating, but it's not far from parks and the downtown Riverwalk, so I usually either take my goodies home or picnic nearby if I can't wait. If you want to stop and sit, try the La Segunda on South Kennedy, which has the same food offerings along with a good sized seating area.

La Segunda Bakery is always terrific. We come here every weekend by several loaves of bread and 10 minute freezer. That way we always have some handy. This time we not only came for bread but we got some sandwiches too and Jordan helped us and was terrific. When we walked in, he greeted us and had a big smile. And when we left, he told us to have a nice day. He also did a great job putting our sandwiches together quickly. Thanks for always being here. Don’t ever close this place please!

We were prompted to go here by some very favourable reviews, in particular to try their legendary Cuban Sandwich. We're so glad we did - the sandwich more than lived up to the hype. The staff were friendly and helpful but also very busy, because it was lunchtime and there was quite a line to be served - it's obviously a very popular destination for lunch and also does delivery orders. Ybor City was a very pleasant surprise to us, and La Segunda - whilst a bit off the beaten track - was a definite hit. Thoroughly recommended.

The cuban breadthe Cuban breadthecubanbread....dear lord baby Jesus this bread is good This place deserves every bit of its fame. Saw a guy walk out with like a dozen loaves of bread as I was waiting for my food and thought that seemed like an excessive amount of bread, but after getting/eating my food I realized he was wise soul. Just phenomenal. Every single thing we had was beyond good. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and flavor of the food. The food itself will exceed any expectation you may have. Probably going to want to order ahead if you're getting more than 1 or 2 things.

I walked into LaSegunda for the first time to get what's rated as best Cubano in Tampa. What I discovered was the best service in Tampa. Kim, Jordan and the rest of the team are happy smiling people. The moment I walked-in I felt welcomed and as if I had known them for years. The Cubano lived up to the reviews, ratings I had seen prior to going. Even if the food was average I would come back for the service.

Our family went to this bakery during our family vacation August 2023. My husband researched this location months before to try out hand on some local/historical cuisine. When we arrived the staff were welcoming and helped us decide our food choice. We all had sandwiches which tasted amazing on the homemade bread baked fresh daily. The desserts were delightful. I had the guava cheese turnover style dessert that brought me back to my summers visiting family in Barbados. If you’re ever in Ybor City, please check them out! Food is good, people tan bueno y el comida es deliciosa.

We have visited La Segunda twice now and absolutely love all of the options they offer in the bakery. We have not tried any of their deli items yet, but those look great too. The staff have been very nice and helpful both times and their prices are great. I love their guava pastry, best one I've had. We like to order a pound of their cookies and get a couple of each to try. Definitely recommend trying them out. The Ybor City location does not offer any sitting area it's to-go only. Maybe next time we will try a sandwich and of course more sweets.

Really great Spanish bakery! Tried the cookies, love them! Tried the Spanish food, loved that as well! Excellent breakfast sandwiches made on Cuban bread! Definitely worth going to! Speaking as a person of Hispanic origin their Spanish food was right on the money! @americanexpress thank you for issuing them a grant to continue with their excellent service and products and thank you American Express for posting videos about this establishment on Facebook otherwise I never would’ve known about it!!! Good people work here!!!

Free parking but limited out side. Takes cash and credit card and cash also has a ATM inside. Food was just average ok. Sell sandwichs and cookies and cakes. No seating inside or outside. Almost everyone bought breakfast sandwich which is very big/long and only 8 usd. Seems a pretty good deal for the price. Other than that nothing special, had better cuben sandwhich. Doordash, ubereats, grubhub can order here. Better order for pick up usually there is a line

I dont usually rate places 5 stars. This place I had to. Prior to my experience here, I was not a fan of Cuban sandwiches. I thought they were just ok. This place had so many reviews, so i had to try it. Let me tell you the cuban sandwiches was the best I ever had. I was blown away. It was stacked w meat and the flavor was amazing. Next time i am in town I will return for sure. I wish I could of tried more from the menu. Parking could be tight, but there is a lot across the street which could be easily missed.

They make the best Cuban sandwich period! Loved the flavours and each sandwich was handmade with love. The whole process of making the sandwich is visible from the counter and you could see the happy faces of the ladies preparing your order ❤️! Loved the cinnamon rolls too!!! ❤️ a must try together with the sandwich. Definitely should make this a stop on your trip to Tampa and Ybor City I’ll be back here to try another Cuban when I’m back again !!!

Excellent Cuban sandwiches ! The bread is amazing, I bought 2 loaves and brought them home to Tulsa , made some Cuban sandwiches for my grandkids and they loved them. The funny thing was bringing them (loaves) on the airplane, they are so long they barely fit on the overhead bin.

This is not authentic Cuban bread. Before you took over Faedos Bakery they had real Cuban bread that included lard. Yours looks like it's supposed to but tastes literally like nothing and is dry as a bone. I bought some, fresh out of your ovens, brought it home and immediately made a Cuban sandwich. It was awful. I miss Faedos terribly. Please put back the lard. It adds flavor and moisture. If you do I'll try it again and if it's good, I'll make a good rating.

The absolute best Cuban sandwich I have ever had!!! The bread was fresh, slightly crispy and toasted. The inside is where the magic happens. The pulled pork, ham, salami, swiss cheese, and that special sauce. WOW! It's very good. The only thing is that it's very small inside so wear a mask but do go and get the Cuban sandwich. I also got the cinnamon stick and it was on point. I highly recommend this place.

I am married to a Cuban … so I have eaten my fair share of Cuban food. Much to my wife’s dismay … I had to report that the Cuban sandwich here is better than Versailles in Miami. The sandwich is on point. The guava turnover is great … but still in 2nd place behind Versailles. If you are in Tampa and want to try a fantastic Cuban sandwich … go here.

  • TINA DAVIS

We ordered 5 pastries. Average price $3-4 . We arrived 2:15pm on Friday. There was a line of 6 . We ordered sticky bun, cinnamon roll, Boston cream pie, strawberry shortcake and agave turnover. I would rate it a 4 Taste good but wasn’t out of this world. If you want an awesome cinnamon roll go to Jamison Dough about 3 min drive… worth it $7

  • Rebecca Rementer

Whenever I am in Tampa I ALWAYS stop here for a breakfast sandwich and a loaf of Cuban bread. There’s is just something about that salty buttery crispy crust on the sandwich that takes me to heaven every time! You have to experience this place! It’s top notch in service too. The staff is super friendly. The pastry selection is superb

Quality food if you are willing to wait. The employees are excellent and friendly. Chance is a manager that helped me and when he saw my order was running a little slow, he stepped up and started helping out on the line. Fnal product, three sandwich platter & a salad bowl were just what my group was expecting. I'll be back for more.

First time we ever went last weekend..... AMAZING! Generous size cuban sandwiches! They make the bread there. Lots of pastries so many to choose from. The slice of flan cake, so good... of course I love authentic flan. Cuban coffee, awesome! So good....we went back the next morning. Definitely going back and the staff is great!!!

  • Nancy Benton

You can't go wrong here. We went for a loaf of cuban bread and ended up with 2 sandwiches and 3 desserts. The bread was fresh, and the loaf was huge. The sandwiches were large enough we got 2 meals out of them and the desserts were the bomb. They close early, so you need to plan a visit early when you're in the area

  • Rich Pentony

Huge selection of pastries, bread, and coffee. We had a donut, which I was told was great, the beef and cheese empanada was prefect and highly recommend! The coffee with milk was perfect and still bold as I typically drink coffee black with no sugar. The line wasn’t too long when we arrived around 8:00am..

Whenever I visit Tampa, my one must-do stop is at La Segunda Bakery. The baked goods and Cuban coffee are outstanding. Today, I tried a pressed Cuban sandwich and it was one of this best I’ve had in the Ybor City/Tampa area. In business since 1919, they are on track for another century of success.

Nice sandwich but for some reason felt like something was missing. Very generous with the meats which is nice but personally I like my Cuban a little bit lighter and more balanced. Aside from that this is probably the best (Tampa-style) Cuban bread on the planet, doesn’t get much better.

  • Willy S Allison

I live 4 blocks away. I never get what I order. Ordered Cuban toast with butter. I get toast with no butter but cheese Didn't want cheese. I order a blueberry muffin. I get some funky overly sweet pastry. Both times I'm pretty much the only one waiting. Not worth the long wait and $11.00

Incredible Cuban bakery that has delicious Cuban coffee and baked goods. Highly recommend their bear claws and their guava cheese turnover, but all of the baked goods look delicious! There can be a line around lunchtime, so I would recommend ordering online to pick up.

First time visiting on a Saturday morning. Decided to order online and wait in car. The pressed Cuban sandwich was awesome. I forgot to request extra pickles. My bad. Fresh with quality ingredients. The cream cheese and guava pastry was superb!! Will be back!!❤

Delicious. Crispy. Juicy. One of the best Cubans in Tampa, hands down. The bread alone is worth the drive, believe they supply the bread to Columbia. Super nice location, great staff and very fast. If you’re in Tampa and want a good Cuban, look no farther.

Great experience! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Got to talk to a local before going in and she gave us the low down. Super impressed with pricing, quality and taste. Eclair was closest to the eclairs from Paris I've found so far. Recommend!

My first time to try and I really like the fresh Cuban bread, guava and coconut pastries. Came back second, pastries still very good. Of course don’t forget to take some fresh Cuban bread. Sugar cookies a little dry, but overall were very delicious.

I just inhaled the Cubano in my car outside, didn’t even make it home.. delicious!! Very quick and friendly service. They also have huge pastries with reasonable prices.

A long-standing bakery that serves the best Cuban bread and sandwiches I’ve ever had. Their pastries and other selections are fantastic as well so you’ll always leave happy! The staff is kind and I recommend ordering ahead as they can be very busy.

Went a few days ago for the first time. Tons of options to choose from. I had the egg breakfast sandwich with ham and cheese, delicious! And the media noche. Loved the bread. Will pass by next time I’m in town to try other pastry goodies.

Cuban Sandwich 9/10 $11 Good size. Great flavor. Great bread. It's deceiving because it doesn't look like much but the flavor is great. Good sauce on it Guava cream cheese pastry 7/10 $3 Good flavor. Pretty good texture

The Cuban sandwich is my favorite and a friend of mine recommended that I go to the home of the sandwich. The bakery itself is modest but the food is anything but modest. The sandwich met and exceeded my expectations

Amazing sweets! Me and my husband always come by when we visit Tampa.Perla Reyes is by far the best employee in La segunda. She lightens up day, and is so kind.

Staff was really great, very affordable and food was very tasty. A good hidden gem in Ybor city. Only 4 stars because there is no sitting on site but otherwise worth going there to grab a piece of culinary history.

The bread you guys. The bread. Get the Cuban sandwich. Get all the things. This place is delicious. It can be super busy, but totally worth the wait. Parking can be tough, but still, worth the bread.

  • George Zakharia

Fun classic bakery with Cuban style sandwiches, baked goods, pastries, coffee and more. Wait time was about 15 min for a 9 inch Ybor's Muffaletta but very tasty deli sandwich.

Best Cuban sandwich in Tampa. Flew all the way from LA to experience this. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Cuban on amazingly fresh bread.

This is going to sound dramatic but that's one of the best meals I've ever had. I got the Cuban and a 8 layer chocolate cake and I'm in love.

  • Mayssam Youssef

Very tasty Cuban bread and eggs for breakfast. The chocolate donut was average for me. No dine in, only takeaway.

  • Jim Patterson

The taste was bad, hardly any crab meat and all for Eight dollars. C'mon surely you can do better for the price.

OMG - this place is AWESOME! Every bit of it was delicious! Don’t miss this spot if you are ever in Tampa.
