I've been to this restaurant La Belle Helene from their first opening in 2020 and again the month they reopened with new owners post covid. And we have gone back periodically. Last night has to be the worst experience with service particularly the hostess stand. We arrived an hour early for a 730pm reservation, advising we will go to bar for a cocktail. At 7:25pm I went back to hostess stand ready for table. We were advised a table was being set up and we could see it directly in front of our bar seats. Then we watched as some walk ins got seated at the table. We waited approximately 10 minutes for another table and I went back to hostess stand and inquired. She apologized & said some other employee seated that couple while she was away. Then advised our table was being set up again. I pointed to a table and said is it that one and she said yes and advised she will get me at the bar which was again right by this table. Then I watched as some other employee walked another couple coats on just arrived to this table. I hopped up and walked over advising employee we have a reservation and have been here over and hour and were advised this was our table. Then I see the hostess and point to her advising this other employee she had promised to seat us when the table got set up. She quickly cuts me off and says "don't talk to my employee that way" which was astounding and rude because 1) employee was not near us and 2) I was merely pointing out the person I had been dealing with previously who had advised this was our table being prepared and would come get us when ready. This person then proceeds to tell me in quick rapid succession she will get us another table. She will get us another table... I advised we have had 2 failed tables promised in the last 15 minutes, it's well past our reservation and we arrived an hour early while sitting at bar patiently. She did not care they had been mishandling the seating repeatedly and continued to seat walk-in couple ahead of us. Nor did she care other table she would seat us at was less desirable location. It was the guests that spoke up and said they would take another table. This employee then conceded and we were able to sit down. Our waiter was very friendly and pleasant when we arrived but spent excessive time chatting with other employees as we waited to place our order and drinks probably an extra 15 minutes. When my mussels appetizer plate was cleared our waiter lifted it vetically spilling sauce all over the table cloth, a good 10"x2" stream left next to my glass and place setting. I had actually let out a oooh sound as it happened because it was headed towards my chair. She did not react or say anything but walked away with dishes. During service of entree and additional drinks there was no attempt to wipe it up or provide additional paper to cover. It was a sloppy mess to look at a cream sauce with onions and parsley all over the table. I ended up folding the paper over and placing the empty silver cylinder from the frites over it. Which sat there through out the meal without being cleared or comment. Surprisingly when ordering desserts we were advised they were complimentary. This was appreciated and our waiter for the most part did provide good service through out the meal with the exception of the delay and the spill left unattended. There was one more surprise from Open Table email inquiring why we did not arrive for our reservation. Which I know was on the restaurants system because I saw it during one of my hostess stand visits and pointed to my name which was #1 on their list. So how is it La Belle Helene is unable to properly seat guests? This does not have the integrity or service of a true high quality French restaurant. If you can stomach the incompetence the food is actually commensurate with the pricing and well prepared and enjoyable. The moules mariniere are not traditional. Although very good they are overpowered by use of safron which is not usually in this very traditional recipe.

Enjoyed brunch here today while carousing thru the city. I decided to come here at the last minute. The hostess was kind and accommodating. I was seated early, yay! The restaurant was busy, atmosphere is gorgeous. It's a beautiful place for a nice meal. Even the bathrooms are great. I started with a sangria. Very good! Would get again. Later in my meal I got a mimosa, it was equally amazing. Next visit I will explore their cocktail menu. I also began with Oeufs Gourmand. Deviled eggs with foie Gras and black truffles 3/10. It tasted ok, but when I ordered for the foie gras I didn't get what I am used to seeing in a foie gras. I was put off it wasn't roasted, braised or seared?! It was, im assuming the shavings (dried flavored seasoning) under the truffle shavings. I wouldn't get this again. While it tasted ok I should have gotten what I originally intended (Oeufs Mimosa). I ordered bananas foster French toast. 8/10. It was good. The maple syrup really set it off. But, the Carmel drizzle without syrup is really good. My next tiny issue was the wait for drinks and starters. I get they were busier but the waitress mentioned the bartender was having a hard time and implied he was frustrated?! Maybe he had too many drink orders. When I glanced over at the bar they appeared to be jovial... It was really good overall, I enjoyed my food enough to eat it all. It is pricier, but it is a beautiful restaurant with great drinks, inviting menu options. The prices and "hype" had me expecting more authentic dishes, but It doesn't appear to be authentic cuisine, it has authentic dishes but if I'm judging off my meal it's created with a "twist". If you seek authentic this is more a modern twist of French cuisine. My prime example being the (non) foie gras deviled eggs with dried froie gras flavored seasoning. It gave ramen seasoning consistency, sharpness and saltiness. Still a place Im going to return to enjoy exploring different options. I recommend it for the atmosphere alone.

The vibes of this place were generally good, very energetic and very pretty. Drinks were also great. service was good but messy, about 4 different people came and quite often asked if we were doing alright, on the brink of it being annoying. The food on the other hand was okay at best. Escargot was delicious, the Ratatouille did not bring me back to my childhood and was bland, Pommes Fritas were yucky, French onion soup was just okay, Mussels were too soft and grainy/pasty, and oysters were weird tasting. The crème brule at the end was also not the best. All the plates generally looked pretty, so presentation was good. I probably would not come back here again except for drinks and a few small plates. Realizing now after the fact, I forgot that my mussels and soup each come with an included baguette but only got one small one. And so I asked for one to have with the broth but was later charged extra for a small baguette (I thought this was normal until I later looked at the menu). But at the moment it generally was grimey to feel nickel and dimed for a small mediocre piece of bread at a pricey place. They also ask for a second tip for the cooks in the back. Which is great and completely optional, but they should really just pay their workers a fair wage if you’re charging that much and feel that your chefs are doing a stellar job. For some reason this place felt like if a British person went to France on summer holidays and decided to open a French restaurant in a cheaper part of the Southern US and then charged NYC prices, all the while relying on American tipping culture and southern kindness.

If you are looking for an upscale restaurant, this is a great option to consider. La Belle Helene serves French food plated in a very artsy way. We opted for the 3-course dinner in our group of four people. For appetizers we chose French Onion soup, Tomato soup, Ratatouille, and Deviled eggs - all were really good but the Deviled Eggs and Tomato Soup were superb. For the entrees we ordered Steak, Trout, Salmon, and Sea Bass and the Salmon was by far the most impressive due to the sauce being tomato and vinegar base, it brings a tangy flavor and brightens up the whole dish. For dessert we ordered the Petit Gateau, Creme Brûlée, and the Lemongrass mousse. Lemongrass mousse was the favorite followed by the Creme Brûlée. The Lemongrass mousse is cased in white chocolate shaped like a lemon, and the whole experience of breaking it and experimenting the mousse was really fun. Some of us at the table did wish the white chocolate casing was also lemongrass flavored, but to some others the balance in between the mousse and the casing, for not being too sweet, was just perfect. Service was outstanding from the greeting table through the end of dinner. The wine and alcohol selection is pretty large too though we did not order any alcoholic drink tonight. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant and would plan another special occasion here again.

This restaurant is a must try if you’re in town. I visited La Belle Helene with 5 other colleagues during a week of work events. This was the second night in a row one of us had been to this restaurant because it was so good! The food was great, the drinks were lovely, and the dessert was beautiful! Get the lemon treat, you won’t regret it (citron I believe). They even have a 3 course meal for $59!! Get it you won’t regret it. There are private rooms you can reserve and the overall look and feel of the restaurant is beautiful. I’m leaving this review because of our amazing service. Julian took care of us with great intention! He was kind, prompt, and knowledgeable about the menu. A colleague asked about a wine they did not have and Julian recommended a substitute. Even after the drink was declined be brought a bit to taste in case they should like it and decided to order a glass. Small things like that show you how much someone cares about your experience. Thanks Julian! We hope to see you and La Belle Helene if we are in town again in the future!

Me and my boyfriend had a 7:00 reservation and when we got there waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The food was good and the drinks also. We ordered the supernova cocktail and it was SO good tastes like gummy bears, my boyfriend ordered the grapefruit cocktail and we both agreed that was the nastiest cocktail we have ever tried from any restaurant I’ve been too so steer clear lol. Service was good they even gave us extra dessert to go because my boyfriend got full and wanted to take his crème brûlée and they said he was unable but still gave it to him in the restaurant with two of my dessert order to go. We also ordered the jumbo shrimp cocktail and I don’t eat fish ever and I tried a piece of it, me and my bf can both agree it tasted very good, so if you eat fish make sure you get the jumbo shrimp cocktail!

I had dinner at La Belle Helene over Christmas break. This was my first time here and all I can say is wow. Everything about this restaurant is incredible. The decor is fabulous and the lighting is perfect. The bar looks really cool, and I will come back just to have a drink at the bar. They have a nice craft cocktail selection. My friend and I had the Delphi, which is a smokey old fashion. It was so good. For an appetizer, we had the jumbo shrimp cocktail, and it was a good amount of shrimp. My date had the tomato bisque and she let me try it. It was outstanding. For my meal, I ordered the hanger steak that was cooked to perfection. You also need to try the Pommes Frites. La Belle Helene exceeded my expectations in every way and the service is great. When you pay a lot of money for a meal, you want an exceptional experience, and that is what we received at La Belle Helene.

First impressions of this restaurant were great. Going through the door and seeing the decor and style of the place, it looks really good. We were given a more private dining setting when we got there which I appreciate. The way restrooms are set up in this place is a bit hard to get used to versus other places I have been to. The service at this restaurant is good, such as our waiter checking back on us about the food we got, giving water to us from time to time. It shows engagement, no problem there what-so-ever. The food however I would not say is that good but it is not bad, it is decent I would say. The “Le Steak Burger” that I got would be one of the better options there. Others have tried the Steak Frites and reported that it did not taste that good. The water they use also has a really strange after taste which lingers in your mouth for a bit. Unless you want to try something new I may not recommend going here as the food won't be what you expect it to be.

Let me give you a little disclaimer that I'm not a picky eater nor am I a fancy eater. That being said La Belle Helene is a beautiful restaurant with a gracious amount of space for seated guests and friendly servers. I would recommend coming right on time as opposed to early because they rarely seat early (especially on holidays like Valentine's day) and dress is business casual to fancy. Dishes are upscale and as such require a refined pallet I found out pretty quickly that I don't have for French food. The Valentine Chicories was too bitter for my liking, the Ricotta Gnudi was great profile wise but hard to get past the doughy texture chewing, and I had no complaints with the Ricane. As I said before I'm not a fancy eater and honestly the whole experience was wonderful, but just not my cup of tea in dining. We bought two hors d'oeuvres, two entrés, and two desserts. I added the receipt for all those curious.

My review is significantly biased as we visited LA Belle Helene as participants in an American Airlines credit card exclusive special event. However, based on our meal, i would highly recommend this restaurant. We enjoyed a four course meal with wine pairings proceeded by passed hors d'oeurves and drinks created for our event. The food was spectacular. The first course salad was delightful with a hint of smokey undertone in the dressing. I wished our tablemates hadn't liked it so I could have had seconds. The fish was prepared to perfection - a challenge I think for a large crowd. The beef was amazing with a tender, flakey Wellington crust. The dessert was a beautiful combination of textures and flavors. An outstanding meal...worth the nine hour drive from Florida!

We chose to celebrate our anniversary at La Belle Helene. I made reservations about 2 weeks in advance. We arrived promptly at 7pm and were told our table would be ready in a few minutes. We waited 30 minutes to be exact! When we asked why, we were told there were several 7pm reservations before us. What? The food was average to say the least. The creme Brule was really good. Most restaurants we've celebrated our anniversary at typically comp the dessert - not La Belle. In fact they should have comped something/anything for making us wait so long for a reserved table! The atmosphere was pleasant and the restaurant interior is beautiful. However, we don't recommend it and we won't be back. It was a huge disappointment for an anniversary celebration.

My first time here, and the customer service was great. I love the atmosphere - it is very Parisian inspired. The menu is great and I look forward to trying more. I would say that it’s a bit more on the side of quantity over quality. Everything was good, but when I go to a French restaurant there’s a level of taste and quality of ingredients I anticipate. I had the chicken crepe, and it was good but I think they could do less “stuff” and better quality ingredients to make it rich but not filling. It’s good and I’m happy with everything overall. But this receives 4 stars instead of 5 because it could be a much better French food experience.

We came to La Belle Helene for the first time to celebrate Mother’s Day, and it was quite good. The brunch was rich and varied, and everything tasted delicious. The only real critiques are minor: the roast beef was cooked beautifully but a little tough; the eggs in the Salmon Eggs Benedict were slightly over-poached. The pastries were marvelous and light or crispy as appropriate. The included Mimosas were generous and excellent, and I even have to compliment the coffee - good, strong, dark coffee. Our server Jessica was attentive & friendly. The restaurant itself is gorgeous; soft music was enjoyable and not too loud to interfere with conversation.

Of course had a girls day out brunch. The inside is beautiful but the table 'mats' threw us off (its understandable but still weird lol). We were all pleasantly surprised at the portion of food. For my friends, drinks were good and strong. Food was so delicious. Perfectly cooked as well. Salad came with the quiche (still not over the size of the quiche slice) and it was fresh with an amazing simple but tasty dressing. Was hoping to try some dessert but they only served at a certain time so was kind of a bummer. More reason to visit again though!

We been there for the Charlotte Restaurant Week. We have different entree/main/dessert for 45$ the plates were pretty good and fulfilling. We have a great wine and a great experience. We do have a small problem, but everyone working in the restaurant make sure that we have a good time, and apologize many times and the same time they were very respectful. It is not easy to handle angry costumer and my husband was one of them. But the manager make sure to flip things back and I can tell we will be coming back soon. The food was a 10 all the way from the begging to the end. Great jod Belle Helene Chef

I had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant. The food truly speaks for itself, with well-flavored dishes that were perfectly cooked and visually appealing. I opted for the steak frites, and it was cooked to perfection. The interior design of the restaurant is stunning, combining a relaxed ambiance with a touch of elegance. I thoroughly enjoyed the vibes and atmosphere. Needless to say, I will definitely be returning for more delightful meals in the future.

Brunch was great. Our server was amazing and had a ton of suggestions. We did try mostly all his suggestions and had no room for birthday cake. The berry crepes, deviled eggs, bananas foster French toast and bacon omelette were very good. Great experience here with my girlfriends. We were seated immediately at our reservation time and all of the wait staff were very attentive. Cocktails hit the spot and dinner was great. I would like to come back for brunch as I think that’s really where they shine. One thing that I loved to see was the gender neutral restroom. There is one door into the restroom with a hand washing station in the middle. Multiple doors to fully private stalls encircled that with one specifically for men and the rest totally neutral.

I stopped by here for Pride Weekend. It was too late for food so I got a drink which was really good and the atmosphere was awesome, it’s an absolutely beautiful restaurant. 4 stars because I sat at the bar for more than a few mins before I was acknowledged… it took another gentleman to walk up to me for the bartender to acknowledge I was there. Also took a while to pay for my drink after I was done.

Quite a lovely place. Very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. The pastries are soft, flaky, and perfectly sweet. Great dining experience. We’ve been to many fine restaurants and this by far has the best French onion soup I’ve ever had, even better than our $$$$ Mastro’s we love. Everything was excellent! Our waiter Edwin was not only a great waiter he gave us great information on the Charlotte area.
