The locksmith that was sent did a fine job. The problem I had was the charge was $100 over the estimate Keyme gave me. Unfortunately, I was told reasons why the charge was excessive including the knob in question was a smart lock as well as Keyme taking 60% of the locksmith's charge. In the end, I paid $172 for 5 minutes of work. Even if the upper end of the estimate ($80) was true, that's excessive for the little time it took to unlock the door. In the future, exhaust the local options first before dealing with "national" locksmith services. In addition, I filed a complaint with the company. The associate who handled my complaint was very uncooperative. She said I could had waived the service and been refunded the service fee which was not addressed to me by either the operator or the technician on the previous Saturday. According to both, the $30 was nonrefundable. At this point, the associate also said I had not been told an estimate on Saturday despite being told by the operator the cost would be $20-$80 plus the service fee and taxes. My original analysis of KeyMe has not changed. Dealing with their "complaint" department (think about it...it isn't "customer service" but a department about complaints) has made me more adamant in avoiding their services.
I locked myself out of my house this morning at 38 degrees. KeyMe was the locksmith I called. It took 1 hour 47 minutes to arrive...AT 38 DEGREES LOCKED OUTSIDE! He finally arrived and could NOT get the door open. He told me he'd "have to" drill the lock... What?!?! A locksmith that can't unlock a regular key door... You have one job... Finally he cut open a lock box. Curious what it cost? $175... That's right, he couldn't unlock the door, took 1 hour 45 minutes to get there when we are outside in 38 degree, and cut a lock box open. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!
I asked them if they could rekey a vehicle they said yes. I gave them their information. I called back about 25 minutes later to find out that they could not rekey my vehicle according to the technician. But he could unlock it. But he could not explain why he could not rekey it. And I would not be connected to the technician until I was going to use his service. Which obviously was pointless if he was refusing to re-key it.
The lady said because NewYorkers tell her how much more they pay up there, I’m charging you some $120.00 extra Her comment about “ smart lock” did not turn up to be the truth! Lesson learned Don’t call key me or have them to send you the bill with the locksmith!
I made a mistake with my previous order and it was returned to sender. Keyme gave me a promo code that was beyond the price of my previous order. Super amazing, super quick, it’s a robot that makes keys at the grocery store!
Postal carrier said for us to get a second mailbox key would require going to the local post office and put in a rekey order. The machine made a working copy in five minutes at my local grocery store.
The new key works !!!! I get the work done at a 24 hour Grocery Store - I know if I need a copy, I can always get one at that kiosk.
Easy, quick and affordable. Made working key for 1992 Porsche in less than a week. Thanks!
Accurate order in a timely fashion. Easy to do business with Keyme.
