I've had a mixed experience with Keith Michaels insurance. It started with what I thought was a great quote for the insurance on my modified BMW, so I went with it and all seemed well, and I was delighted to be using the car I'd spent ages working on. Sadly a few weeks ago the worst happened and my car was in an accident. That's when the experience took a bit of a turn. Firstly I was just passed the number of the actual insurance company, so I ended up dealing directly with them, but lacking any clout behind me. The car was deemed written off, but as it turned out the value I'd insured for wasn't an Agreed Value, and therefore market value would be applied to my car. Lots of digging and two and fro and I finally got a settlement figure that was reasonable, though not what I'd put on my policy. Now, set with having to have a normal car for a while to get me to work, I can't get a response from my broker agent at Keith Michaels to change it on my policy. Several calls, always with the response 'I'll call you back in 10 minutes' mean I'm no closer to being able to use the remaining 5 months on my policy, and looking for alternatives for insurance. I guess the moral is that a cheap price doesn't mean you're necessarily getting the best cover, and if you've spent months or years building your pride and joy, make sure you get an agreed value policy so that your hard work isn't lost.

A couple years running now where immtold on owners clubs they are worth trying, and yet never competitive. Ofcourse so many factors to why a company would be competitive and not the reason behind my review. More so the fact it’s so difficult to get a quote, often put through then hang up or told someone will call but don’t. When I do eventually get through I find the representatives either a little abrasive to speak to or quite arrogant as if they chose you. The scripted audio you hear when on hold suggests they are most competitive on the market for high performance cars, yet again they can’t best a basic compare set or several other companies like A Plan and Flux. I give in

Was looking to enquire into a modified Car Insurance Policy, left 2 messages, never got a call back across a period of 4 days. When I did get through and asked for a quote, they asked how much I've got a quote for and by only asking me for my postcode and what car, not even registration, nor age or any further details, said Yes that's cheap, you should ring them back and take it. Customer service non existent. Total disappointment. Waste of time ringing for a quotation if the openly admit Brentacre are cheaper than them. So ring Brentacre guys, definitely cheaper than Keith Michaels as said by their own employee.

Contacted this company regarding an insurance quote and had an email back asking to contract them, after a lot of difficulty trying to get through to someone leaving multiple messages and phoning up, I finally managed and was told they would run everything through and have a quote within an hour. After 6 hours I phoned back up to then be told they had not done it and would do it straight away and be back in touch in 10 minutes. We'll it's not been 2 days and Adrian Flux has had my business as they had exceptional customer service and sorted me out straight. Moral of the story don't waste your time on Keith.

Very happy with my experience today from Keith Michaels insurance. My policy was tailored to suit my needs, and the specific model of Japanese import car I own, which few other brokers were able to identify. I spoke with Gary M, who was both knowledgeable and professional, and the whole process was very straight forward. The quote price I received was competitive, and slightly cheaper than I expected, and so I can say that I would definitely recommend this company to others, and I will personally continue use Keith Michael's to obtain insurance quotes for future cars.

Fantastic experience here! I was struggling with the mainstream insurers for my car insurance as I'd just returned from overseas and none of the mainstream companies would accept my overseas NCD. I rang Keith Michaels and spoke to Jason. Within about 3 minutes he'd taken all my details and the job was basically done at that point. This is having spent many frustrating hours dealing with online-only insurers over the prior weeks. Jason was a breath of fresh air - actually speaking to a real person rather than a computer. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.

I have been using these guys for the last two years, and they have been great. They are one of, if not the best, for modified cars. They offer track day cover, and my policy hasn't really been affected too much by certain mods, which in the case of other insurance companies I'm sure it would have. Renewal was also a breeze, and they're very helpful when needed, particularly Gary whome I've dealt with several times. If you're a member of a car club, be sure to mention it as this sometimes results in a discount.

Phoned up for a quotation and then was interrogated about how I found their details and what I put into the search engine - They were pretty dismissive and it seemed like they were disinterested in my business, asking fairly random questions about my car, not me (middle aged bloke) or my driving record (flawless) then went away, came back in a couple of moments with a ball-park figure suggesting they probably couldn't compete. Very strange experience - maybe I caught the chap on the phone on his lunch break!

Just goes to show, loyalty means nothing these days. Despite promises of excellent customer service, I feel as though I am coming across desperate to get a quotation for a new vehicle and despite calls, left voicemail messages and an email to get this quote, Keith Michaels seem less than interested. I even called to complain and when telling their team that I've been unable to get a quote, the person on the phone seemed far from interested in me or my business. Thanks but no thanks!

They claim to be good for all sorts of insurance requirements, including drivers with convictions (even basic sp30)... modifications... vans... all the spiel given while you are on hold - saying they WILL give good competitive prices for ALL.. yet they couldn’t do it for me on a very basic request, and that’s after I left 3 voicemails, 2 quotes online and was told I would receive call backs multiple times... don’t waste your time with this company.

Rip off company Avoid! Would give no stars if possible worst customer care when they owe you money they avoid refunding I would stay well clear of dodgy insurers like Keith michaels and just stay with main insurance company's I've been with admiral for years and highly recommend them better quality customer service better rates no troubles just good insurance don't use keith michaels youl be glad you insured properly with a real company

As somebody who has been looking for insurance recently and has relied on reviews, I feel it is my place to leave a review on my experience. The customer service was poor, with the guy who I spoke to on the phone being quite brash and loud, which didn’t help. Not too competitive on quotes — I would recommend looking at The Insurance Factory, Adrian Flux or Marmalade Insurance if you want decent customer service and better quotations.

Always had a good experience from repatriating to the UK now to changing policies due to a new car. We have both our cars with Keith Michaels, we thought the on-line sites would be much cheaper but they arenet and you can tailor to your exact needs with friendly and cost-saving advice. In the world of on-line the friendly, honest and knowlegable broker trumps them all, well done Keith Michaels - highly recommneded!

Dreadful waited almost a week for a call back!!! Rang on friday for a quote for a tesla as they were advertised as a 'specialist' and needed instant cover. Went through a whole quote and was told would get a call back with the best quote. by tuesday nothing so called again twice to only get a voicemail and again weds left a voicemal with no call back. I gave up and went with Adrian flux and got cover in 22 minutes

Am over from New Zealand for a few weeks due to a bereavement. KM plc advertise short term insurance specifically for us Kiwi's, but however when I rang this morning the response was abrupt saying they don't do short term insurances anymore. They couldn't get me off the line quick enough. I have never had an car insurance claim against me, have got a perfect record, and a NZ licence. Thanks a lot KM plc.

I’ve found the staff at Keith Michaels to be knowledgable, efficient and they’ve always managed to provide me with extremely competitive quotes for my modified performance cars despite my less than stellar driving record (and postcode). I can’t comment on the claims side as I haven’t had to make one yet (touch wood) but everything else has been perfect since I’ve used them. Highly recommended.

Not sure why there are some negative reviews on here, because from start to finish this company has been nothing but courteous and helpful. My Impreza was insured by them for £200 less than anywhere else, the guys I spoke to were friendly, helpful, and always emailed me back. It was the shortest time I've ever spent on the phone getting an Insurance policy set up. Would definitely recommend.

I did an online quote form and had to wait for them to get back to me. I then rang a couple of days later to ask what was happening with it, just to be told that they won't be getting the rates back until the end of the week! What company in this day and age has to 'wait for rates' to be sent?! Are we in the 1940's again? After only 1 experience with them I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

I am temporarily living abroad but keep an old Volvo in the UK for use when I'm back...I thought KM was exactly the kind of firm that would be able to help me so I contacted them for a quote and filled in their online form but received a reply that my car was not valuable enough for them to bother with. Disappointing; I would have appreciated a callback to discuss my options.

I was transferred from the USA and they have helped me with not just auto insurance but referred me to other reputable companies to help with health, house etc insurance. The lady I spoke to had a very bad attitude from the word go she seemed like she didn't want to help, Questioning me on what car I drive currently and told me the car I want is a big jump when I've had the same car previous aswel as having plenty more Japanese imports They talk nonsense Also the lady assumed I drove a m140, and I don't. Wouldn't recommend

A really honest and customer-focussed insurance broker. They tell you exactly why your premium is what it is and give you a fair price respective to other quotations I've received. Easy to speak to an actual human at the end of the phone and they work with you to get a decent quote. Why other insurers can't be the same I don't know!

I called the office to update some details for my quote. When I had gone through all my information the member of staff didn't bother to check the system, without hesitation he simply said he can beat my previous quote. Not sure if this person is lazy or simply just isn't that intelligent, either way it was awful customer service

Would be no stars if possible, been with this company for years and even brought them clients, when I asked to make a payment at a later date, I was spoken to by a manager who was extremely rude and told me I have to find some other way of making payment. Who speaks to loyal customers like that. I will be going somewhere else!!!

Have used these guys for a number of years now. Always been excellent service. Fast, to the point, good personable customer service, and reliable. Their insurance quotes have been some of the cheapest I've found, but it is the simplicity in speaking with and dealing with them that keeps me returning each year.

Probably the worst customer service i've ever experienced. Answering the phone like I was an inconvenience. "What type of car is it", "Where did you get this number?", "I'll put you through to someone else". Someone else was an answer phone. Needless to say I didn't leave a message. Joker.

I've tried to obtain quotes from Keith Michaels for four years in a row with no joy. They have one person dealing with modified car insurance and each time I've called I've been promised a call back which never came. Serious poor service and they clearly aren't interested in the business.

The best modified/performance insurance company I’ve been with by miles. Friendly staff always, even in the event of an accident. I always recommend them to friends and everyone who asks. After 3 years with them I’ve not looked elsewhere nor do I plan on doing. Happy customer :)

These guys are great. Its old school car insurance with the personal touch and have insured me for half what some of the internet websites could do. Great with performance cars, some of which I had no on-line companies evening offering to quote!! Highly recommended.

Very strange experience. Unable to provide a quote due to a week or two to hear back from their underwriters. Not experienced anything like this before. Maybe exceptional circumstances but not the smooth process one would want.
