Forgot to review Sanctum Hotel after our stay at my wife's birthday! I had attended a couple of events previously at the hotel and knew the place was "different" with a sexy, rock'n'roll vibe. But I was a little hesitant because often our experience is that "attitude" doesn't work when it comes to actually running a hotel. But Sanctum really pulls it off! The rooms are richly decorated and very comfortable, public spaces look like rock'n'roll art galleries, the location is top-notch and the rooftop hot tub and bar are a rare bonus in London. That said, we had a chilly reception at the front desk and by the end of our stay, we only slightly warmed up that particular front desk clerk. Other than her, the staff was excellent, working together like a family. And I can't say enough about Nadir who was coordinating the breakfast service - he ran the place like a character from a Wes Anderson film! We hope we'll find him again when we return!

Just steps from the luxurious shopping of Mayfair and department stores of Oxford St., restaurants and bars around Carnaby St., the theatres around Piccadilly and Leicester Square and the late-night and sometimes-naughty diversions of Soho.
Walkability
Absolutely one of the most pleasurable walking centers of the world. London itself invites exploring by foot and from the Sanctum Hotel you can quite literally walk to nearly all of the major highlights of central London.

Stayed here in the past, no problem. The room was a nice size and clean. It was a handicap accessible bathroom, which was fine, a bit difficult for my husband to use the sink as he has a bad back and it is low to the floor. There was a faint drain odor in the bathroom. Once the shower was used, it backed up all the way to the far wall. You were standing in water no matter where you were in the bathroom. It took 25 minutes to drain completely, and there was a great risk of sliding and falling on the wet floor. We told the front desk and housekeeping came to take a look. Not really his job, but he tried to do his best. He poured drain cleaner in and came back in 20 minutes to check. No change so he poured more in. He told us someone would be there after 1:00 pm to take care of it. At that time we also pointed out that the front door could not lock unless the door was slammed shut. He promised to have that looked at too. Again, not really his responsibility, but he was trying to help. We were offered a free breakfast that day. Front desk informed the bathroom was still flooding the next day. On the 2nd night when we returned, a very strong drain odor was throughout the room. The next morning the water did drain, but no one had informed us the trap had been cleaned and to run water so the odor would go away. It was not pleasant smelling that all night. Update: management was supposed to contact me, per response to this review. Never heard back from anyone.

Run far away as fast as you possibly can. This place is tempting because the price is reasonable and the location is fantastic - but this is indeed too good to be true. In face it is absolutely not good and mostly not true. The rooms are incredibly small The hotel feels like it was built into a crawlway between two larger buildings. There is not enough surface area in the room to put luggage and the sink is - not even joking - in the shower. Their decorator is unaware of how small the rooms are and puts 8 cubic feet of decorative pillows on the bed. There is not enough surface area on the floor to put them when you try to sleep. The single elevator was out of service part of the stay - okay fine. But hands down the most demoralizing point was coming home after a night out to find the door locked. So in a downpour of rain, I had the unique pleasure of figuring out how to translate the phone number they posted in the window as a domestic phone number into An international number I could dial from my cell phone. If I could find a redeeming quality other than the location I would tell u but I can’t. If you want the location, buy a tent and place it in front It will be more spacious and accommodating

Fantastic hotel in a great location. We stayed here for a weekend escape without the kids! The hotel is situated in fantastic area with most things only a stones throw away. The staff on arrival were very polite and friendly and the loft suite room we had booked was just what we were after. For us there was only 2 negatives, the first being the extortionate cost of everything in the room, £10 for a pot of Pringles, even I can’t justify that!!! The second thing was we were interrupted twice whilst in our room, the first time to deliver a bucket of ice (strange several hours after we checked in??) and the second time was a maintenance man wanting to measure something in the bathroom. Even worse, on both occasions the staff knocked once & before we had time to answer they opened the door. Luckily we had the chain on the door as the second time my wife was in the bath (which was in the middle of the room!!!) however the guy would of certainly had a good view. Not the sort of thing you expect to happen in a high end hotel. Aside from this, the hotel was lovely, a great room & great bar on the top floor. For the price and location we couldn’t have asked for more and would certainly return again.

Very unhappy with our stay here, the bartender was very rude to all of us and aggressive towards my wife and here friend in particular who felt threatened by him! The customer service is poor and upon check out we were told that the manager would contact us before our final bill. However we did not even see the room charges before they processed the payment against the holding card, which then the bill was incorrect! (they mixed up the bill for another room). After check out the manager did not get in contact to sort the issue out, I chase the manger for 4 days before final speaking to the manager who really didn’t care about the issue and found wasn’t helpful in resolving the matter. Overall found the hotel is tired eg. Hot tub not fully working, the bed was damaged, cracked windows.. the list goes on! All night we could here music from our room, which isn’t great when you’re trying to sleep! The staff our incompetent and require customer relations training. I would not recommend this hotel to stay in Soho!

The location is absolutely perfect. Countless restaurants and shops are a stone's throw away. Close enough to the tube and easy access to busses and taxis. My family booked a week at the Karma Sanctum. We were impressed from start to finish. Ella accommodated our early arrival, she gave us rooms immediately. The hotel is very clean and has a great Rock decor. Our room had an excellent view of the city and was spotless. I would like to highlight the staff of the Karma Sanctum, they made the stay fantastic. From Nadir, Tuna, and Ella, to Sam, and Anthony, The entire staff cares for guests' comfort. I apologize for any staff name's I'm missing. We loved every interaction with each staff member. The rooftop bar/lounge is a great place to relax and or get some work done. We will be rebooking on our next visit. Do you and yours a solid, book the Karma Sanctum.

Just home from a 4 night stay at this hotel. The service we received from start to finish was amazing. We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and we had tickets to see Iron Maiden at the O2. Everybody was really friendly and attentive, the room we stayed in was fantastic and I enjoyed a lovely bath in the evening after our long walks in London. The roof top bar is great to just sit outside and chill with a lovely beer or cocktail. The location is fantastic for Regent Street shops and Carnaby street and also for several underground Stations. Chinatown is also just minutes away which I loved a wander too. I could go on and on about just how fantastic this place is. We are already talking about booking again! Was a great treat for our anniversary and would love to make it a regular visit!

My wife and I spent a night in Soho for my 30th and chose Sanctum due to its boutique rock n roll theme and Japanese cuisine. The hotel vibe is amazing, we immediately wandered the corridors looking at all the artwork! The room was dark, sexy and romantic, most importantly it was very clean and comfortable. The restaurant/bar area really stood out for us. We had a dinner reservation Saturday evening and wanted to try as much as possible so we opted for a sharing platter, the chicken dumplings and katsu sliders are to die for. The staff were extremely friendly, one gentleman in particular who we think might have been the manager (unfortunately didn’t get his name!) was so attentive he made us feel like we were getting a real VIP service, even topped it with a desert on the house! Thank you for making my birthday celebrations extra special

To say that this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in would be an understatement. The location is amazing, the rooms are gorgeous. The roof top bar is top notch, but what makes this hotel the best I have ever stayed in, is the staff. Every Member of staff was outgoing, friendly and professional and went above and beyond to ensure the happiness of their guests. The owners were very interactive and present with their guests, I had asked if they had any hair spray I could buy and they did not have any. When I came back later, the owner had bought some hairspray at the store and let me use it. It is the small gestures like this that made the overall stay amazing. Thank you to everyone who made my weekend special. I will be back, many times to come.

I had the pleasure & privilege of visiting the Karma Sanctuary Soho on Monday for an amazing event raising funds & awareness for the amazing Music For Mental Wealth - supporting musicians through any emotional challenges… I have to say I was blown away by the venue (decor / location etc) but especially by the vibe of the place!! The staff are awesome & so hospitable & kind & I will definitely be back!! The performers were magnificent too - pulling off a great acoustic show in a cinema the way they did is no mean feat!! HUGE thanks to all the team there for making the event possible!!! THE coolest hotel in London! ❤️

This hotel has so many layers of excellence it's hard to list them all. Great location, close to everything you'd want to see visiting London. Rooms are fabulously fancy, and the restaurant and staff were also very impressive. Breakfast was included for the 5 nights we were there, the full English was superb. As an added bonus, being a heavy metal enthusiast, I was delighted to find the decor and theme was very rock n roll, without being cheesy or losing it's swanky feel, including Trooper beer (by Iron Maiden) on tap in the bar. I felt right at home, and will stay here again when next in London. Would highly recommend.

Karma Sanctum is an oasis in the midst of W1. Once you enter this rock'n'roll haven you would never know you are a stone's throw from Piccadilly Circus, at the intersection of Regent St and Soho. It has such a unique vibe and you can really feel the warm and authentic touch of owners Mark & Sherene on everything - little might you guess the power couple they are. From basement (set up for gigs and screenings) to rooftop (equipped with hot tub and heaters) everything is considered. Cannot wait to return.

We only stayed here for three nights, but got some of the best service we’ve ever gotten at a hotel. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating, trying to help you in any way possible. The whole hotel is gorgeous, the room was clean and spacious. It has a very funky vibe to it.The attention to detail by the housekeeping was remarkable, they organized and tidied every little thing. The lounge areas are very nice, with equally prompt service and delicious drinks with shisha. You'll definitely see me back & I will highly recommend to anyone who asks.

I was looking for a place to eat with my friends in West End, and I didn't realise that now you have to book ahead. So with that mistake in mind, we came across this absolutely lovely place, we went in, ask if they take people without reservation and immediately the staff was absolutely lovely and grateful to help. The food was amazing and delicious. The bill for 3 people, main and a bottle of rose, around £150, which I believe it was not big at all, especially for the location of this place. Beautiful place, amazing service, prices affordable. I will return here definitely.

London's best kept secret so don't tell too many people. We didn't stay in the hotel, boyfriend took us straight up to the rooftop bar. Where there was 1 other drinker and maybe 30 seats total. It's expensive but who cares. Look where you are. It's very plush and a great hideaway in the chaos of Soho. Great drinks and cigar selection. Staff were fantastic. And I hear lots of celebrities like to stay at the hotel so you never know... Might run into some famous people while you're there.

I attended my sons wedding breakfast, although staff were polite the whole event was disjointed with very poor service, I have never eaten fresh fruit without plates or dishes or spoons before appalling. The milk jug for the coffee was filthy with yellow dried old milk the whole meal experience was ruined because nothing was served together at the correct time. Would not recommend this place to anyone. The lift was out of use and when asked if there were disabled toilets a very glib yes down a very steep flight of stairs!

Dirty rooms, separate cold and hot taps (uncomfortable for non UK guests). After check out my credit card was charged, I have no idea for what. Actually, we prepaid our reservations. We booked 2 rooms: superior and budget for kids, bur budget room is better than superior. Receptionists didn’t help us with our complains. I’d like to giving thank you to Russian-speaker housekeeper. She was helpful and friendly. I don’t recommend this hotel for my friends.

I booked a Superior Compact room and ended up with a room adapted for disabled people, which is very inconvenient if you’re not + the bathroom is beyond disappointing: the floor is very slippery (not safe at all) and water would be crazy hot, not able to have normal temperature - simple could not shower on a Thursday night at almost midnight. Of course they could not upgrade me because the hotel was fully booked. Very very disappointing for a 315€/night hot. I Absolutely do not recommend this hotel, very negative client experience.

It's luxury without the snobbery. I've been to London several times and it's my absolute favorite stay so far. The smell is infectious, the staff, Nadir especially, makes you feel right at home, the breakfast is fantastic, the location is right in the heart of everything so you can walk everywhere. I only wish the room was a bit brighter but overall it's been a fantastic stay. I will absolutely be coming back.

Fabulous hotel. In a very convenient location. We were attending a music concert at the Palladium so the decor and art work was right up our street. The staff were so nice and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. A top class hotel with none of the snobbery. We felt comfortable as soon as we arrived. Loved the quirky decor and the smell was addictive. We will be back for sure. When we checked there was a bit of a mix up with our room. Mark, the owner, was very apologetic and went out of his way to make up for the inconvenience. The hotel is in a fab location, and still our room was quiet and peaceful. Overall it has a very personal feel to it and all the staff were super friendly. We loved the quirkiness of it and of course the Dalek! Great place, we will certainly return.

Good food overall, you can tell the chef is passionate about Asian flavours. Quality of food is fresh. Drinks very expensive for what you get. Don't mind to pay 17£ for a gin and tonic if it's the best I've ever had, but this wasn't the case. I would go back only for food.

Location, Bed,shower, toiletries. Coffee in room. Window curtains don't close, feel like you're in a fish bowl all the time. There should be a black out curtain option. Elevator is moody, doors don't always open and you have to go to ground floor and hit the alarm button. Other than that, comfortable stay! And no coffee at roof top bar

Very disappointing, a dark and heavy atmosphere with a very unfriendly and unhappy person at reception- not a great way to feel welcomed! The bathroom Lobby was filthy on our arrival and the breakfast was not great. You have to pay extra for items on the menu even when breakfast was included in your booking. The only positive were 2 very friendly waitresses at breakfast and a clean bedroom. We will not be back.

I have sent an email complaining but received no response which is even more disappointing. I had my young niece with me absolutely busting after a long car ride. I asked the man at reception if she could please use the toilet and he said no. Hotels are meant to be hospitable. My poor niece ended up wetting herself. I just think it’s disgusting not to make exceptions for young children, elderly… anyone!!!

  • Becca Johnson

Staff were very friendly and helpful, but the rooms are quite small and the drain the bathroom (wet room) smelled a bit. Also the pillows were not great, did not hold their shape so was not that comfortable. Not sure if they had other options or not, I didn't ask as it was late. The rooftop bar area was quite cool and whilst we didn't try out the hot tub, it's a nice touch. Amazing location though!

Went there after already been celebrating somewhere else. I was taken by a friend who is a member, for drinks and cocktails. Great decor and vibe, which is rock n roll. It’s hard to find decent hotels in London. They never seem to deliver on the value for money aspect. However, I can truly say this place although outdated to some degree, has a character which is unique to this place, and I would stay here again.
