My husband and I have been patients at Kanata North Medical Centre since 2014, and we have always been pleased with the wonderful care we have received over the years. The receptionists have always tried to fit us in as early as possible for appointments, and I have to say I do not at all understand these other comments regarding the receptionists; I have always been greeted kindly at worst, and with a super chipper, I-hear-your-smile-through-the-phone voice actually most of the time! My physician, Dr. Andrea Krupa has always been an attentive and caring physician. We particularly appreciate the walk-in hours and the shared care model used at the Centre, which allows us to be seen by a doctor even if our doctor is not available. The Centre is always kept very neat and clean, and I've found the workflow to be excellent. Even after moving to a different area of Kanata, we have chosen to stay with the Centre. I recently went through a difficult and unexpected healthcare issue that was quite a blow both physically and emotionally. I contacted the Centre to schedule an appointment with Dr. Krupa, and after explaining the situation was pleasantly surprised and comforted by the empathy I heard on the phone with the reception staff. They were so kind and understanding, and they booked me in for an appointment early the following week (I called on a Friday morning). Dr. Krupa personally called me that same Friday to schedule bloodwork, and sent the requisition to the lab directly so all I had to do was show up. She called me again the following week to alert me of other testing she had arranged, and to make sure that I knew my appointment date and time. I was so touched to hear my doctor calling me personally, and my conversation with her was the perfect blend of professionalism, competence, caring, and empathy. A good doctor makes sure that his or her patients are healthy; a great doctor makes sure that his or her patients feel like people and not just statistics on a chart or an appointment to push through. A difficult situation was made less difficult due to the timely and excellent care that I received, and the compassion that was shown to me. I can't thank Dr. Krupa and the reception staff enough, but want to encourage them to continue providing excellent, empathetic care to their patients; it is so very appreciated. P.S. Their nurses are needle ninjas. I got a flu shot at the end of my appointment and was going on about how I would like her to count to three so I could take a breath and be distracted. She popped the needle in my shoulder before I could finish my sentence, and I hardly felt a thing!

I love our family doctor, Dr Caskey, and I really like Dr McBride who we have seen before, but I'm starting to question whether we are in the right hands. Maybe it's just our medical system in general, but this clinic is no longer working for the health of its patients. They will not fight for you. For a long time now the clinic's protocol has been different and it changes often. They use COVID/staffing as the excuse as do many clinics and health care facilities, but I'm starting to wonder. Today I was refused an appointment for my almost 3yo and we were directed to the West Ottawa Clinical Assessment Center. She has chronic ear infections and is in pain. She's old enough to tell me this. I wanted her ears checked and antibiotics if necessary. Just 2 months ago we got a walk-in appointment immediately for the same thing. When I expressed frustration the receptionist sighed at me multiple times and repeated her script. And it's exactly that - a script. I understand the decision is not hers, but there is very little empathy at this clinic these days. She would not send a message to my doctor asking to make an exception. I am sure the staff are doing their best in a broken system but I have lost a lot of confidence in a place I used to trust to help me look after my and my children's health.

My family has been with the clinic since it opened and have been very satisfied 90% of the time. For other 10% of the time, there may have been some issues with getting through on the phone due to the receptionists hectic job of not only answering phones, but trying to please the hundreds of clients coming in and out during the week, while also: - juggling phone calls from clients and other medical offices, suppliers, etc. - registering patients coming in for an appointment - calling patients to schedule/confirm/reschedule appointments - answering/making calls to other medical offices. suppliers, etc., as required Anyone who has worked in an administrative capacity fully understands the heavy workload the admin staff have on a daily basis, as well as the heavy burden placed on their shoulders on a daily basis. I am fully pleased with all the work the doctors, nurses and admin staff do for my family. They are patient, understanding and professional. No one is perfect, so on the days where there may have been a misunderstanding or a mistake made, usually on my part, they have been understanding and do their best to reschedule me asap. Thank you KNMC staff for all that you do on a daily basis to keep us healthy.

I love this office. Dr. Smith has been my doctor for 12 years and even just seeing a walk-in doctor they are very understanding and amazing. I did have problems with one of the receptionists in the past, that being said I believe she has since retired. She was a nasty human. Currently all the staff amazing. Camille is so good with my kids. They went out of their way to call me for a Covid vaccine. Very helpful. Dr. Smith really takes time to know her patients, remember her patients, and give the best over all care. Even without an appointment I can call and ask a question and Dr. Smith will take time to call me personally. I feel so lucky to have a health care team like this. My only negative, I wish they were accepting patients as I highly recommend them to everyone.

This clinic is trash. The receptionist and staff are rude, incompetent, and lack any unprofessionalism. The receptionist will raise their voice and hang up on you over the phone whenever they feel like doing so. Whenever you call for appointments you can never get one for your family even if you are patients with a family doctor at the clinic. They refuse you for walk ins at the door by locking it and only allowing certain people in. Most of the time they I my want to treat elderly people and refuse to accept children even as little as 2 years old when they are very I'll. We will be looking for a new family doctor and clinic shortly since this one locks any kind of care for their patients.

Excellent clinic, clean, well lit, with plenty of natural light and conveniently located right next to a Rexall pharmacy. Desk staff are polite and efficient. Nurses are great. Dr. Connelly has been the family doctor to my family of 4 for over 10 years now and he is wonderful, not only with adults but the kids too. Not many doctors will take the time to try to make your kids smile, but he always does. He also takes the time to explain things, but somehow is rarely late for appointments. Even after I moved from Kanata to Barrhaven 10 years ago, I still come to this clinic even though it's a bit of a drive because to me, it is worth it for this level of care.

Agree with the bad reviews Tried to get what should have been a simple prescription refill renewal (followed the proper procedures as told by clinic and pharmacy) Took 4 days. Still waiting because my doctor wasn't in. After numerous phone calls, because it always take forever to get through to them, they out right lied to me and said they never received anything from my pharmacist. After giving times and dates, they "magically" found it. Yes, that was all dealing with their wonderful, polite (so effing kidding!) receptionists. My doctor is not much better, but hubby found her and given the problems finding a permanent doctor, just tolerate them

I have always had a great experience at this clinic. Dr. Connelly especially has the best bedside manner I've ever seen in a doctor and I never felt less judged talking about my problems. Dr. Smith is absolutely wonderful as well, listens to her patients and is very kind. My only problem is the time it takes to get a booked appointment, but that is pretty standard across Canada right now, and I have been given walk-in appointments with no longer than a 30-minute wait when I need dire service. I also commend the way they have and continue to battle the COVID virus, still requiring mask wearing.

Doctors are great but over the years the receptionists they hire are rude and entitled. ... they really need a new front desk staff one even talked about me as I went around the corner and they were all laughing I felt super uncomfortable. The receptionists think they're doctors and know everything and are extremely rude everytime except for one older lady with glasses it's unacceptable and although I love my doctor i felt bullied the passed few times and no longer feel welcome there any longer will be switching because I've brought this up several times and nothing changes

I've almost always had complete frustrations here. I can almost never get through to them in a simple timeous manner over the phone. Now with 'hour' long covid messages before even getting to a number to dial to get to reception, things have just gotten more difficult. The doctors seem ok, I've had brilliant service from a doctor who is not my 'family' doctor there. So, the doctors are ok but all three star losses are for the services before seeing a doctor. It's so bad I've decided to change doctors and rather die - literally, before using this medical center again.

We’ve been patients at this clinic since it opened. The staff are always very friendly and professional. On several occasions I’ve even witnessed them deal with rude patients in a calm, courteous manner, so I’m puzzled about some of the previous comments. As far as I know, the clinic provides services to registered patients only and cannot accommodate general walk-in patients. Our family doctors take the time to listen (which matters greatly to me). They are very knowledgeable and have provided excellent care to our entire family. I can highly recommend the clinic.

Called one day, several times during the day. No answer. Voicemail. Left a message. No callback. Another day, call several times during the day. Again, after ~20 mins waiting, passes me to voicemail. I leave another message. No callback. Finally, I go Saturday morning first thing (as I work 9-5 weekdays), and am told, "Oh, we don't do inoculations on Saturdays. Come back Monday." (I had picked mine up at a pharmacy earlier and needed to have it administered.) Quality organization here. Will not return. Go somewhere else and save yourself the time and headache.

Garbage clinic. My pharmacy faxed an essential prescription refill to this clinic over a week ago and I've been calling them every hour since they opened yesterday and now that they are closed for the weekend after telling me repeatedly they would fax back -- I get to suffer unbearable heartburn for two and a half days straight (minimum). Thats right. It's not even a narcotic. It's a heartburn medication. These are not professionals at this clinic. They have no ones health in their agenda. Just call and talk to the rude receptionists if you want proof of that.

My family doctor is here I cant get an appointment or call them because they have changed to online booking which requires q health card and I lost my health card and have trouble getting new one even though they have the card on file. Theres no one to talk to. If you miss an appointment they charge you a heafty fee when once upon a time I was able to get an appointment. My family members also have problems with our "do nothing its probably stress doctor". This place is a joke, I will be finding a new family doctor to treat real health problems.

Dr. Paula is great. The clinic is horrible.. The front desk is very unorganized, I agree with all the reviews on prescriptions. There is however one or two receptionists that are extremely kind and helpful. I called to have a prescription faxed, followed the clinics procedures and the pharmacy never received anything. I called back and there was no record/knowledge of my request. I take a blood thinner and needed to buy aspirin to cover me for a few days... Unacceptable. This saddens me because I love seeing Dr. Paula.

Poor information provided and poor customer service. I was trying to find information on their walk-in hours or restrictions. After a long online search and Facebook search I couldn't find any information saying that they did not accept walk-in. The big building sign states walk-in and no posters at the door contradicting it. So I stood waiting at the front door for 20 minutes before someone came and said we don't take walk-ins. There was 0 patients in the entire place and at least 3 staff members.

Great doctors and nurses. Occasionally decent front staff, (one) but typically rude and treat you like they are doing you a favour speaking to you. One in particular that is just a really bad person that is so ignorant, so incompetent, so utterly wrong for a role where you should have some compassion for people, that only affirmative action hiring could possibly explain her continued employment.

  • Henry Horovitz

Our family of four have been with the clinic 21 years. We have encountered no problems with the front desk staff or with any member of its medical team. (A little smile goes a long way). Dr. Starosta our family doctor is thorough and takes care to explain the problems and course of action. Although this clinic is not close to our home, we choose to remain with the Kanata North Medical Clinic.

Absolutely love my doctor there but the receptionists with the exception of Julie and there’s another one I forget her name she’s maybe Spanish or something dark hair and darker complexion. Are SO rude. If you’re having any kind of health situation they don’t care they just brush you off and think they are doctors I feel SO uncomfortable going there and even calling I might switch clinics

  • Larisa Wheeler

Dr. McBride and her staff go above and beyond. I have been with Dr. McBride since she moved to the area, and would not even consider another GP. She actually cares, and has helped me in so many ways over the last few years. I cannot say anything negative about the staff at the clinic, they have never failed to be friendly, competent and helpful, even under the most stressful situations.

  • Darren Finlayson

I've going here for a while now, and it has been very reliable. This place was recommended by my allergy clinic after I was having some issues with Appletree. Almost always on time when you make an appointment, with very little delay. Doctors and nurses are very friendly, and if you go often enough remember your name and converse a bit. Never had any issues here.

I go to my walk in clinic at Kanata Mews , I look up if there is a clinic near by that walk in so I go to Kanata North walk in clinic to be told that they only take their clients and not walk ins ... to me then why advertise that you take In walk ins . If someone walks in and needs to looked at why not check them out instead of letting them just walk away.

  • Seb Mordak

This is the second time that someone has told me on the phone the wrong walk in hours at this clinic. Called at 10:30, lady told me to come in before noon. Arrived at the clinic for 10:50 and the lady at the front desk said she did not pick up my phone call and the walk in clinic was closed for the day at 10:30. Very disappointed. Do not recommend.

  • Fady Gayed

We have a family doctor at this clinic who is great but the actual clinic offers little to no service for little children when they are sick. We've been rejected by the walk-in clinic multiple times for our two-year-old. I don't recommend this clinic if you have any children and looking for proper care. In addition the staff is rude and heartless.

  • Rachel Campagna

While most places seemed to struggle through COVID it seems to have actually made the doctor's office function more efficiently. Never have to wait an hour in the waiting room like we used to. It can take a while to get an appointment with your doctor but if something is more urgent they do their best to get you in.

  • Hai Tu

Try to see my family doctor, they said 1.5 months waiting time! So I would need do walking-clinic and waiting like anyone else. Asked if which doctor works on that day, they said they could not tell as confidential.

  • lise currie

Looks like a clean clinic , staff at the desk was polite but, I could not see a Doctor because none of the ones working there is my Family Dr. this info should be posted on the website ,if it is I can`t find it .!

  • Jason Chapman

Consistently fantastic experiences with this medical center. The doctors are great and the staff do an incredible job. Extremely grateful we're able to go here.

  • Faieq Ahmed

Great doctors and medical staff! Glad to know that they are still accepting walk-ins! Very professional and quite a large establishment! High Recommend!

  • Dario Ferrara

Worse place to go. Walk-ins are only for their patients. Might want to update ur voicemail. Do not recommend this place to anyone. Don't waste ur time.

  • dawn pawson

Dr Ceapchi is a wonderful doctor who listens to you and is very personable. It's like talking to a good friend when I go to see her.

  • Logan T

Ilove my Dr. The only issues I have here is no one ever answers the phone!!!! EVER!!!!!!

  • Jacob Girgis

I saw the staff arguing and yelling at their patients. Unprofessional to say the least
