A relatively small museum compare to many others. Some historical items related to the American Japanese local to northwest region. In particular to the WW II era, when American Japanese were unfairly treated and put into concentration camps. Some compeorary art work there as well. The entire place will probably take less than fifteen minutes to finish the tour. Not a whole lot of people there either. We visit on Sunday morning and was the one group there when we arrived. When we were leaving another group of 4-5 people just arrived. Parking in neighborhood is relatively easy and encouraging Sunday morning visit as it is free.

Rich and artfully-designed exhibits with poignant, personal artifacts, including first-hand audio retellings. The museum is primarily focused on the Japanese American experience around World War II, and tells the story of how federally-forced relocations upended the lives of the Nikkei community in and around Portland. A must-see for anyone seeking local or Nikkei history, and highly-recommended for all to provide a lens for reviewing contemporary social and political climates.

This is an important stop to make in Portland. It tells the story of Japanese Americans in the US and raises awareness that the fight for equity hasn't ended. They're in the process of partnering with Museums for All so folks with EBT can get a discount or free admission. Masks are still required here so be nice and put it on.

They recently redid the whole museum and have put a lot of effort into making this space educational and interactive. It tells the story of the Japanese American Community in Portland, featuring local families and their experiences being in internment camps during World War II. This is a must see for every American and history buff. More

I have visited the Legacy Center many times. The permanent exhibit offers a poignant education about Japantown before WWII, and also the experience of our citizens who were sent to internment camps. The changing exhibits are always excellent as well.

Very insightful, super friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommend anyone go here, it doesn't take long to walk through but you leave smarter and more informed.
