"Bought 3 books"
This place is a book lovers dream!! The moment you enter you are surrounded by books. From floor to ceiling there are books. In every nook and cranny there are books. You can even pull movable bookshelves aside to reveal another bookshelf with even more books behind it. It doesn't feel cramped or overwhelming. It's what I imagine a dream secondhand bookstore to be like. It's a comfortable place. The prices of the books ranged from 5000-20000 Won (even more for boxed sets but that is understandable). Some customers might think it's too much but I think it's important to support your local small businesses. This bookstore has classics, travel guides, history books, newish releases and children's books. It has books from any genre possible. The owner is lovely and this bookstore has the most diverse range of books I have ever come across in Seoul.
Some good books but definitely overpriced. I found two copies of the same book today with the same USD cover price of 12.95. One of the used books was 15.000 KRW, the other 16.000. No reason for the book to cost that much, especially as it is only about 100 pages long and isn't out of print or rare. This is similar for many of the used Penguin classics, too. Many can be purchased new at Kyobo for 8.000 won but here they are regularly 10.000 won or more. The prices seem arbitrary and can't be justified by the trade-in price because the store gives almost nothing for used books and then charges 4-5 times for reselling. Sudden price changes (always up, never down) at checkout aren't uncommon, either.
A great place if you're patient to look through the layers of bookshelves! It is a tiny little place filled with a wide assortment of books from old copies of Dune to histories of Korea and modern fiction. The used books are cheap and the new books are priced as expected. Selling books back to this place is a bit arbitrary. You'll most likely get less than expected because they just eyeball the pay out and intend to re sell the books quite cheaply. I went with about 25-30 books and they only offered me 10,000₩. I had some resellable books in great condition so I did not accept.
The funny thing is I've been walking right by this store to get to the station every time for the past 5 months and it was during valentine's day that I finally went in. I found books like Dairy of a Wimpy Kid and many old classics. But to be honest, the thing I really liked about this store is that the book prices were cheap, for example, one big book would cost you about ₩12,000 which is pretty cheap considering the price of the books at Kiobo. Come to this bookstore if you need some very good books!
Bought 3 books. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. HP and the Half Blood Prince And Lovely Bones Came to a grand total of ₩14 000. Great little hole in the wall sort of place. Loads of books everywhere, get ready to spend a while browsing the great selection of books, sometimes even on your knees since books are in bookcases haphazardly that go from floor to ceiling. Great place all in all
I love this cozy place! There's a pretty good selection of several types of genre fiction, nonfiction, and children's books. However, it can be a little pricy and you won't find the latest hot releases here. If you are like me and enjoy a good (and not necessarily new) physical book, it's a great place to browse for your next read.
I’ve bought books from here for years but I’m never going back after today. I was looking around for about 10 minutes when the owner (old man) told me I should stop browsing through books if I’m not looking for anything specific. I was shocked. How are you supposed to buy books at a secondhand bookstore without looking around?
The store has great prices and so so so many books. I'm not sure what the organizational system is so it's not easy to find things, but I'm sure you can always ask the owners if you're looking for something specific. These gently used books are cheap and in pretty good condition. Highly recommended to at least take a peak.
I found this little gem a few weeks ago when I visit Itaewon. I love used bookstores, I love the smell of used bookstores, I love the esthetic of used bookstores. This one is an absolute see for used bookstore lovers. It's only a little bigger than the size of an American master bedroom, but it has an amazing selection.
It is a small and cozy bookshop located in Noksapyeong area. It is a plus if you can speak little bit Korean as the seller is a Korean man. Although there are many used books in the shop, you can also find new bestsellers here. I think they not only sell used books, but also buy these kind of books as well.
This guy has been around for many years before Whatthebook, which is gone. I like the owner. Things are not super organized, but there is a large amount of books in a small space. It is on the way to Nokseoptong Station and after Petra and down the walkway slope.
so many good books but honestly it is a little expensive considering they are second hand. but you wouldnt find them anywhere else in korea unless youre super lucky or you know about this other place so... but its a really nice place in general
This place is really cool and not only can you find plenty of english books but there's a lot of old books from the 70s and 80 and as a person who love collecting vintage objects this place is literally a treasure cavern. I read here that…
I found a book I liked for 700W quite cheap I thought. I went to pay and he said he made a mistake it was actually 7,000W. I thought ok, everyone makes mistakes. He opened the book looked at me and then said 15,000W. I didn’t buy the book.
Older versions of things at an incredibly high price for what used books are worth. However, you buy what you want if it satisfies. There is a strange smell similar to muscle relaxer on all the books in addition to a musk. The scent never…
Great little bookstore for English books. Was a bit out of the way from where we were staying but well worth the trip. It’s located in a nice area. The shop owners were very helpful and friendly. Very good selection of all types. My kids…
Not a reliable place to sell books. The owner did not want to buy my books on my last visit, even though they were in very good condition. However he bought books from me on an earlier visit. It seems to depend on the mood of the owner.
Superior to What the Book? in terms of used titles (they only sell used titles), but lacking in organization. I enjoy the jumbledness of the place, but you'll almost certainly need to spend a while looking around to find something. The…
Since the scaling back of the U.S. presence at Yongsan they have been flooded with books people no longer want. Hence, the store is a disorganized mess right now. Sure, some of the charm of a used book store is the adventure and the…
A lot of books, but the place is definitely disorganized, not ideal for cruising for books. However, more popular books are located near the entrance of the store. The books are also not that cheap considering they are used books,…
It only took two minutes to find what I was looking for with the help of the nice manager. So amazing to see such a wide selection of English books! Man, if only I would have known about this place sooner. Definitely recommend!!
Impressive collection. I've visited my fair share of asian bookstores and this one takes the cake. Fair prices and an impressive collection of second hand books. I was looking for short story collections and they had many gems.
The quality of the books is very good ,the price is really low,the smell of the old books fantastic. I can't believe that people say that the owner is rude, he really is kind. This is my favorite bookstore and store in Korea.
Run by an old Korean couple thats been here for ages, they're one of the fundamental components of what brings life active around here. Check it out for a nice surprise once in a while for your favorite authors.
It's been around since forever, yet it is still something mostly locals seem to know. They carry used books on anything you can imagine (mostly English) and the owner is super friendly in case you need help.
Best Bookshop in the area if you are looking for English book. They are second hand and mostly find every genre on the shelf. They are relatively cheaper and makes for a good place to shop.
A nice little used bookstore. The owner is friendly and they have a good selection of popular titles. Just what you'd expect from a used bookstore back home in the UK, US or Philippines.
Narrow premise and it's hard to find books by genre and authors. Prices is good and worth of it. Mr. Choi will give you discount if you buy a lots of used book here.
I've been coming here for years. It's got a much broader selection than most new book stores (for books in English) in Korea and its a fairly convenient location.
If you want to find a good used book, you should come here. And if you can't find the book that you want, the staff is very helpful and willing to find your book.
Try to find the hidden back space. Books in darkness. Felt like Indy and the temple of forgotten titles. Brilly. Deserves the heritage stamp from the Seoul gov.
Such a great bookstore with lots of books of different genres. And also the owner is a nice old man and speaks English. I recommend you visit the bookstore.
Books, books and more books! If you cannot find a secondhand book here that will satisfy your reading preferences, you won't find it anywhere else.
Used book heaven! The tight walkways, smell of old paper & unpredictable, yet familiar, way the books are scattered about all add to its ambience.
Verynice shop for foreign published English books. The lady owner is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable in the books I was interested in.
Super tight super packed little bit of magic just by Noksapyeong station. Find gems and randomness in this delightful little store.
Like a game you have to invest your time to get a good book. Accept Book trading ! Owner is so kind that wanna visit there again.
I love this place. The gentleman who works there is absolutely lovely as well! A must visit for any Itaewon resident.
The definition of a secondhand book store. Grouchy owner, organized chaos, random random everywhere. Worth the trip!
One of rare thing in Korea. Bookstore full of books in English. The categories of books is not established well
Pleasant, close space that smells like old books. You'll pay at least cover price for used books, by the way.
This bookstore is covered wall to wall floor to ceiling in books. It's a small wonderful place to get lost in
I went there about a week ago and I found two first edition first printing Harry potter candian books there.
very very friendly staff. you can find anything here. it's a small place filled to the brim with books.
Loved the feel, the conditions of the books, and the tidy (and tiny) place. I could spend hours here.
Has the old bookstore feel, smell and look...of course a whole lots books...got my Louis L' Amours
Luckily I found the books I was looking for and also the owner gave one for free. He's so nice!!!
This book store is wonderful. They have a large selection of books, which I had fun browsing.
quirky, cozy little place stacked with books from floor to ceiling - heaven for book lovers!
This miserable, overpriced bookstore is run by an extremely rude owner. Definitely avoid!
Great selection of English books, can find just about everything given enough time!!
Wide variety of English Books if you need to take a break from your Online life.
The books are affordable! You can get both brand new and second hand books.
The best selection of English books in Korea full stop.
