We were a little skeptical at first, but our daughters who were 9 and 11 were fascinated with the history and how the bottle of olive oil actually got to us on the shelves of our supermarket. The best part was the tasting at the end. Another couple from Scandinavia were incredibly shocked that although they liked the flavour of "off the shelf regular store bought" olive oil, we all realized that the flavour of quality olive oil is unique. We also learned that Istria has become one of the world leaders in organic and quality olive oils and bought 3 different types. When we got back home to Canada, we realized how different clean healthy olive oil can be from big company manufactured olive oil. As a family who loves food and cooking, we have learned one more lesson about clean and healthy food. Our daughters have started to talk to their friends about olive oil. The money was well worth the tour - for sure a memorable experience for us, and of course, our daughters!

Wonderful museum about the history of olive oil in Istria and its importance through history; from Romans, to medieval, to modern day. The museum is detailed and I spent 2 hours there, but I took my time. For 15 euros I got to enter the museum with a remote that you use to listen to a guided tour at your own pace. Simply press the same number as on the poster and enjoy. They had this is multiple languages. Included in the 15 euro price was also an olive oil tasting to learn the difference between extra virgin oil and normal oil. I was very surprised at how special and more genuine the extra virgin oil tasted. I strongly recommend going here!

Excellent museum & tasting experience with a very good shop. We went for the 15 euro per person Green (?) experience which was good value. A comprehensive audio guided tour of the museum learning about the history of olive oil, before the tasting. The tasting was interesting and has changed how we will buy and enjoy olive oil in future. Lots of facts, demonstrated by the tasting of 3 different oils. We purchased a bottle in the shop before we left, but there was no pressure at all to do so - the emphasis was on education re the differing qualities, flavours and benefits of oil (or lack of in the case of mass produced!).

It's the first time I've been to any olive oil museum, though I lived in one of the top oil producers country and visited some more. I found it very interesting. Probably I would get tired reading all the info, so audio guide was a great help! Tasting was very educational. Previously I've always tasted oil on bread at some producers, so I didn't know the right way. Also the comparison of real extra virgin oil and some mass produced blend was shocking. I'm going to taste my olive oils at home when I'm back

Excellent museum and great olive oil tasting experience. I visited the museum early morning on Sunday and I had all museum to myself. I’ve purchased the golden ticket which included the olive oil tasting experience. Overall I had a very informative and interesting time. There is a museum shop where you can find amazing quality local olive oil and other beautiful products and souvenirs. The service staff in the museum was super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Great museum! Very informative and interesting history, production, and science behind the Istrian’s olive oil industry. The oil tasting was great. The only problem is that now I don’t want to use the bad oils anymore :) The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The museum shop also offers a decent amount of olive oil from local producers. I recommend Chiavalon.

Great experience of you want to get an introduction into olive oil, it's history, production methods, varieties and different qualities. With the entrance to the exhibition you also get 3 samples to taste and a personal introduction into the art of trading olive oil. With the gold ticket (higher price) you can taste up to 7 or 8 different oils. Very competent and friendly staff and you are able to buy all the oils you tasted and even more in the shop.

To be completely honest, what initially seemed like a tourist trap from the outside, turned out to be surprisingly the best and most informative museum experience in Pula! Got the "gold experience" and was worth every kuna. I had an excellent time with Roby who shared the history of Istrian olive oil with great enthusiasm, and the tasting that came later was very enlightening. Definitely recommend this as one of the things you should do in Pula.

It's an amazing place where you can learn about the history of oil manufacturing in Istria. Electronic audio guides in many languages are available. I also suggest taking the opportunity to learn how to distinguish good quality and low quality olive oil connected with tasting. Movie and curiosity boxes are making it even more fun.

It's not somewhere I would think to go in advance, but we were walking past and thought hmm that could be interested. The exhibit detailing the roman olive oil trade and the politics of the industry, aswell as the methods for creating olive oil was fascinating. We also did the tasting and what sounds like a dull exercise was incredibly interesting and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend making a point to visit this museum

Modest museum showcasing the history of olive oil with integrated "gift" shop where you can find numerous types of olive oils, mixes and olive based products, some of which you can taste test. Some of these are rather expensive, but they are of high quality and generally unique (mixes with truffles etc.). Entrance to the shop is free so you should definitely check it out while explpring Pula.

This is a fantastic museum with lots of interesting, well presented information. We learned the history of oil production, the social aspects and some chemistry! We had the Gold Experience which was amazing with 10 oils to smell and taste and a surprise dessert! The tasting was expertly presented and we now know how to tell a true extra virgin oil. This is a must do on any visit to Pula!

Lovely museum with very interesting information. Highly recommend the extended (gold) tasting, as you get to try a lot of different flavours. Not doing any tasting when you go here means that you are missing out. The people working there were very nice and spoke good English.

We went for a Gold Experience and it was great. We learnt how to taste and how to recognise a bad olive oil. We tasted different award winning oils and had a lovely dessert at the end. Afterwards we went for a museum guided tour which was very informative.

My friend and I completed the green course, which included the tasting of 3 oils, an audio tour and a little learning on what makes a good oil. I'm not an oil aficionado, but I was still able to enjoy this cute museum a stones throw from the arena. The staff are personable and there's a well stocked shop where you can spend your kuna.

We recommend the gold option with tasting. The lady who led it was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. The museum itself was also interesting with an audio guide in multiple languages. Must see if you are in Pula ❤️

This museum is a gem. At first I thought why would I go to an olive oil museum, what can possibly be said about it? However, we spent 2:00 hours there! Very interesting from start to finish. We bought the gold experience and it was well worth it. Very knowledgeable guide and I will never dismiss olive oil as just olive oil again !

A very nice place to learn a lot about olive oil. Personnel has very big knowledge and is keen to share it in a very accessible way. There are few options to choose from in the tasting which is also a very nice experience

Helpful staff speaking English, fantastic selection of Istrian olive oils and other delicacies such as Istrian Grappa, honey, lavender, aromatherapy oils made from flowers and herbs from across Croatia. Also high quality gifts such as local pottery and ceramics, jewellery, handpainted silk scarves and chocolate.

The tasting session was good. My wife and I bought Istrian olive oil and perfume at the shop after. We went back a couple of hours later, when passing, to use the toilets but we were refused the use of them.

The oil tasting was very good. Had a host who was very knowledgeable and friendly!The museum itself was a bit average. The audible tour basically just had an audio version of what was written on the walls, and didn't add much. If you are not doing the tasting, don't bother with the audio.

Really nice Shop, we bought liqueur and beer. You can visit olive oil museum. Price is allright. Amazing staff who answered every question, and gave us samples. Would recommend.

A must see! This place is a gem. I took the “green” tour and it was fantastic. They gave me an audio guide, the museum was well laid out and used a good mixture of visual, audio, videos and tasting at the end! I learned so much about olive oil and how it’s made. It was great.

Did the "green experience", which includes entry to the museum and a small olive oil tasting. One of the better museums we went to on our holiday, we learned something new.

The lady who helped me and who did the tasting was very kind and helpful! It is because of her enthusiasm I enjoyed my visit so much. I learned a lot about the history and how I can taste the difference between good olive oil and cheap one. Would definitely recommend!

We had a wonderful experience visiting today. My kids were tired and grumpy, and I honestly didnt think they would want to do the tour. The lady was so nice and helpful. The kids ended up having a really nice time and even learned some about olive oil! Win-win!

Nice museum, showing history and technology around olive oil. The tasting in the "basic" variant is really a nice eye opener, but you only get the extremes (a good oil and a really bad one). So, If you really want to try different oils, book the premium ;)

WOW... the tasting/lesson part of the visit was transformative. I will never look at extra virgin olive oil the same way again. I was able to use what i learned at local restaurants to see if they used quality oil. MUST DO THE TASTING part.

The place is great and all but I would say that the gold experience is nothing more than a wasted money. You get a joke of a desert and the tasting is ok but nothing more. The green experience is just fine and a great choice.

Small museum but very interesting. The visit takes about an hour. The olive oil tasting at the end was great and informative.

I learned a lot from the museum which spans many time periods and techniques of olive oil production. The gold tasting was a great experience to learn about the vastly different styles of oils from mild to earthy to spicy.

Very informative. Goes through the history of olive oil in the region from Rome to the present and the different production techniques. There is also a tasting at the end of you paid extra. The tasting is worth it.

We thought olei meant old, and histriae meant history. The one about history was right, but we ended up liking the museum. Now i want to be an olive-farmer. And i live in Danmark. Let's go climate change!

A quick way to learn everything you needed to know about olives and Istria. We did the gold package that included extra tasting and dessert, which was the best part! Whole tour takes about an hour.

Interesting with audio tour included. About 50 minutes. I took tour with tasting option which educated about types of oil. Worthwhile. Associated shop contains about 80 different Intrinsic oils.

Interesting place, I thought that the tasting part of the green experience was useful & informative. The history & audio tour part had quite a lot of repetition throughout the different boards

The "Gold" package tour was fabulous. I learned so much and the tasting is truly an eye opener! Who knew olive oil had so much historical depth.. AND flavor!
