I've gone here a few times now and haven't really had a problem, but after my latest visit I am very disappointed in the staff and management. The customer in front of me in line had to put some books back because the total was too high, and the staff members were nice to her while she was there, but once she left two cashiers immediately made some unkind comments about her appearance and financial situation to each other; "I knew from the second she walked in she was too broke to buy anything" and the other made a very upsetting joke about the race the woman in front of me was and they both laughed. They called me over to checkout and acted like nothing happened. It was very distressing to overhear that, especially because I thought Indigo was a company that prided itself in inclusivity.
Fantastic store with items for all ages. We went there to get some reading inspiration for our 2 year old. We found books organized diligently, making it easy to find the age we were looking for. On top of that, once you do narrow it down to age, you are left with hundreds of suitable books in front of you and chapters did something awesome to mitigate that overwhelming feeling of having too many options; they put tags on the books following recommendations by staff members that have kids that age or have read through and researched the book themselves. In the end, I am sure I bought about 15kg of kids books to spoil my son with. All in all, thanks Chapter's for making it easy to break my bank and my back. ;) My son is sure happy.
It was really hard to find anyone to help me. I did find the self serve kiosks, but the two I saw were out of service and said something that implied they were moving to a new system that might assume everyone has a smart phone with QR code reader. When I finally found an employee he was helpful (I think he went on his own phone to find my preferred author) but they did not have the book I was looking for. They did have a lot of items that were not books, such as baby clothes, which I thought was weird for a bookstore. I did end up purchasing a different book by the author I went there to support. There is still a large selection of books.
Great location! It was really nice to find a lot of the things we were looking for without having to plan ahead. We arrived in store mostly just to browse, and then passed a section reminding both of us that we were looking for some specific books! We were sad to see the computers are no longer functioning (you scan a QR code now to use your phone), as the reduced accessibility could be an issue for people who aren't great phone users (QR codes are surprisingly difficult for older generations to use). Overall a great experience! We were very happy to pick up the 3 red rising series and the manga SKIP.
Super busy store on a Sunday afternoon. Can see staff walking around trying to keep things organized. Needed help finding a certain book for my 9 year old. Asked a member for help and he immediately knew exactly where to find what we were looking for. The cashier at the kids department kept leaving the til so we were unable to pay there after waiting several minutes as we thought we had to pay in the kidzone. Once we found out we could pay outside of the kidszone we headed for the front. The Line to get out was crazy long but all tils were open and line moved quickly.
I visited the store searching for the perfect baby gift. Family Day brought in epic crowds. I marveled at the clean store, & the friendly staff with headsets on the floor. It was as busy as Boxing Day with a long line. Folks were happy. I stopped & laughed out loud at the banned books display. I appreciated that the table was almost sold out. As crazy as it was, it was still a great shopping experience. I always check for overcrowded paths, but everything was top marks for folks with strollers or wheelchairs. The staff should be very proud.
Love chapters/indigo But I think staff need to work on communication. I called the other day and asked a lady who worked there to put a book on hold for me (they had 3 left). I told her I’d be there between 7-7:30 pm. She told me she got all the info needed and put it on hold. I rush there after work and go to the till…. They can’t find it and there was none left in stock.. Not too sure what happened if there was a lack of communication or something. Love this store but kinda irked by this experience.
I love the bookstore, it's my happy place. My rating is so low because when I arrived the associate at the door letting people in and out gave what I'm assuming is her regular little greeting "speech" but part of that was saying to keep your mask over your nose, which was actually a little insulting as someone who was and always has worn my mask properly. I dunno it just really rubbed me the wrong way.
As a long time customer and plum rewards member i was so pleased and impressed by the customer service i recently received from Daniel. He really went out of his way to help me redeem my voucher that wasn’t working and complete my transaction. He was so polite, helpful and knowledgeable that he really made my shopping experience at Chapters WEM stellar. Keep up the great work Daniel and Chapters!
I had an enjoyable visit to this store. The aisles are spacious and clean. The shelves are organized, which made it easy to find what I’m looking for. They sell other items aside from books & paper products. I enjoyed the in-house Starbucks here for a quick snack after the time in the bookstore or after walking the mall. There’s a sale area in the back of the store that’s fun to browse.
Awesome store! I shop here every Christmas. Not only do they have a vast array of books but the have a large selection of gifts and a huge children's section in the back. If you don't go searching for it you wouldn't even know it was there but the books are toys are plentiful! Also, not mention, my favorite stop is of course the conveniently located Starbucks inside the entryway!
This store is well stocked with a good variety of books for everyone. They have a great kids section, and all the other items they have, make it a good place to look for a gift for someone. They often have good sales, and their staff are always very helpful and polite. It's a good store with good staff. 5/7 would go back again.
I Love book stores, especially the ones that have great selections and staff that are willing to go above and beyond to make sure that you find your next read. They honored their prices, looked up books we couldn't find as well as ordered them for us with free shipping. Who doesn't love the smell of a new book …
The lady at checkout who helped me was absolutely amazing. I wasn't expecting much going into a bookstore at the mall for manga but we started talking about some other manga and how it's difficult to get the first in a series of the Beserk series so she offered to order it in for me. Awesome customer service …
Staff was friendly for the most part. I found the store to be exceptionally clean! They have a lot of products and their kids section is great if you have little ones with you. I found it a little weird that the staff would stand in between walkways talking amongst each other however it's not the end of the world.
This place is huge! I love the selection of books and cute home items. Having it in the mall is so convenient. We visited just before Christmas and the store was busy but there staff handled it like a boss. Even when its busy we never felt rushed and all the staff was so nice and friendly. Well definitely be back.
I absolutely love Chapters! Their range of books and stationary is amazing - especially since I'm from Australia and there is currently no bookstore back home that even compares. I was surprised to see a huge selection of history and political books and I was also impressed with their range of language books.
It has an excellent selection of books and I never got disappointed with Indigo book places because there were so much to choose from. You would also find several interesting products from the place aside from their high-quality books. You can enjoy, relax and had a great time shopping for interesting books.
I love Indigo stores but this one is always chaotic and packed. I understand its located in a busy mall but they should anticipate heavy volume and prepare for it. There is not much space in between book shelves and I often find myself bumping elbows with others. The staff are often very friendly though.
Love this Indigo. Therewas a lineup but its normal for Black Friday. I think they have removed some seating to look at the books and stuff. For that 2 stars less. But thereis so much in Clearance section at the back. Make sure to check. I love their mugs, books, scarves, journals/diaries/accessories.
Although their card machine and computer systems were down, they still provided fantastic service. A staff member asked me if I needed help with anything, and from memory, he was pointing me in the right direction for the things I needed. He was knowledgeable and friendly, which I really appreciated.
Love this store. You can buy more than books! Random other trinkets. The books are plentiful too, though. If you get a membership, you rack up points with everything you buy and get a discount. Love the cozy atmosphere. Great place to chill and look at books. You'll always leave with a new one.
Good selection of books, toys and various home items. Staff are really helpful and pleasant. I really like that they keep the store super clean and orderly. This is one of the better stores for browsing in the mall as they have such a variety of items (coffee shop in the store is nice too).
This store is nice and big, with a Starbucks attached, and a bathroom in the back. It also allows you to order an item from their website on the kiosk in store, and then pay for that item at the regular cash register. That way if you only have cash but want to make a pre-order, you can.
I haven't been to this location a little while and it's definitely gone downhill since I was last here. Was walking around the store for a while and didn't see one employee, and the store itself was quite a mess. Somehow the kids section looked better then the main part of the store
They have got a very good clearance and sale section in this store. I found many good books for $5-$10 CAD and I could not be happier! The store was also in a very good layout that felt very organized. Cashiers were fast and there were many of them so the line moved very fast.
I really enjoy this Indigo. There's also a second large check out in the kids section. I used it boxing day and realised I was able to skip the big line at the front. Lots of inventory. I also love that Starbucks is attached to most Indigo's. So I got to wander with a latte.
Huge store with an Indigo Kids store tucked inside. They have an American Girl Shop instore. There are of course lots of books but also great home decor as well as lots of gift items. Also there is a Starbucks inside the store. This location is always busy with long lineups.
I stopped in because they had a copy of a book I was looking for. The young girl at the front was quite helpful when I asked her where I could find and she took me right to it. I browsed around and picked up two more books. Great store, friendly help, and awesome selection.
Nice, standard Indigo atmosphere. Gets pretty busy with the WEM crowd during weekends. There's plenty of products on display with fair prices. You can find a few discounted gems during holiday season as well. Definitely nice to relax for a bit after walking around the mall.
On most days the store is nice to go to. They have a big selection a d the staff are friendly and pretty knowledgable. The biggest problem are the line ups (this is not a daily problem but frequent enough). Long lines and not enough cashiers to handle the lines.
My only complaint is that the store was way too warm. Like so uncomfortably hot that we left before finding everything we were looking for. Besides that, the store was very clean and well laid out. The staff was super friendly and provided excellent service.
One of my all time favorites! You could find almost everything at Indigo and their selection of books available was indeed amazing for me because I love reading and Indigo often have new stocks. No wonder this place is very popular here at Edmonton.
Always a great store to visit. Store is clean and staff has always been friendly. The only (minor) gripe is that the computers they use to find the books you need seem to always be down which really isn't a big deal. Big selection, well laid out.
More a thing shop than a book shop. Located on the first floor next to starbucks and the Fantasyland hotel lobby. There are plenty of cushions, cups and accessories. Books are there too you just have to wander deeper into the store to find them.
Favorite store! The cashier was lovely enough to find me a significant discount, and another worker had brough me a basket after seeing all the books i had picked out! Such wonderful people here. And yes, they have much more than just books.
This is a bit of unique recommendation as I am author that visited this location for my Courage to Change Author Signing Event. However, it was nice to see the store in action. Staff helping customers and the store was impeccably clean and
It's a great store and the staff are friendly. Just couldn't find any of the books we wanted, with their website was down the staff couldn't search items. Also it's always very loud with kids so if u want a place to read go somewhere else.
I am so happy and lucky that we have a huge bookstore on the west end. I have been going to this indigo (chapters) for probably 20 years and love browsing. Staff has always been very helpful and book organization has made it easy to find
Biggest children section in Edmonton. They even carry the newest coveted LEGO Overwatch Bastion set that my kid is going ga-ga for! Even if you don't go just for the Starbucks or store books, this store has you covered.
I was great! The staff were super nice and the store had a great selection, my only complaint is that I found a few book series that had books 1, 3, 4 but not the second book. Overall though it was great!
Great location, very large quite organized but because it is so popular, trending books are often sold out at this location. I would recommend checking if this location has your book before going
All of the computers that enable you to search for the books you are looking for were not working, and overall selection is lacking compared to other locations, except for the children's section.
Pretty large location, but the selection wasn't great. Kids were looking for anime and I usually love the clearance area. We won't return, as there are many in edmonton and with better selectio.
Good bookstore unless it's on a controversial subject, in that case they might just blacklist you and refuse to stock your book. I love it when bookstores (chains) get involved in politics.
Staffs here are very friendly and nice. Everytime I come here they are very helpful on finding the books that I want. Can't wait to comeback here and buy a lot of books on my wishlist
An enormous store filled with books! Who wouldn't love this? It's clean, well lit, has a Starbucks built in. What's not to love? Also, this particular store has a huge section for kids.
Not that much of a selection ( comparison to other chapters), I believe reason is the area of the store. But still fairly well organized and I found what I wanted to read.
Busy as usual but spacious enough to walk through with a wagon and child. Love how they had the Barbie area with the movie going on. Totally fun space to check out.
Good store but it is lacking some important topics. Anything that might be slightly controversial is missing. I also couldn't find any classic literature.
Store staff are wonderful. However, ordering online through Indigo is a nightmare. If they don't have your book on the shelves, better to go with Amazon.
Indigo, no matter which city, will always be one of my happy places. This one in particular was very busy but had all that I could think of. Staff
Hi dear it has been a very good experience there Got lots of good books there.Lots to choose from.Thank you dear Happy New year ❤️ …
Good cozy atmosphere, bit crowded since in the mall, but the coffee fragrance from the Starbucks inside is a great place to enjoy a good book
Roaming a large book store, coffee in hand, is an experience I will always appreciate. Excellent store with a lot of variety. Recommend.
Clean, organized, well staffed, and well stocked. Using the kiosks makes it easy to check to see if a book or item you're looking
Some challenges finding someone to get my online order for me, but the team member that helped was incredible. Great job, Daniel!
It's a great book store, the staff are lovely, the selection it great, and it's a good place for quiet in the noise of the mall.
Great store. Unfortunately the only copy of the book I was looking for had a damaged binding. Excellent customer service.
Good store always over crowded and not enough cashiers at the same time they didn't have the book I was looking for.
This was actually the 1st time I've gone into the store, & was was amazed how big it was! Will definitely be back
I’m a Plum rewards member I get 10%off and free shipping if I purchase books on-line!! Their sales are awesome!!
The book selection continue to be impressive. Plus they have several sections and good options for gifts ideas.
This is one of the last places that still have the kids section to buy toys in the whole of west Edmonton mall
This store is huge. Seems to go on forever. I love Chapter's staff too. So friendly, helpful and inviting.
Good selection. No computers to look up stock. Public restrooms were closed. Hard to find staff for help.
Excellent selection! I loved they had a store for younger children! Staff was super knowledgeable!
So much variety and love the 3 books for $10 table. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
I think this is definitely the biggest indigo stores I have ever been in huge selection
Great service and easy to find what you are looking for. The staff are also fantastic!
They sell books and do much more, this is my wife's and daughter's favorite place
Very helpful staff and a wonderful selection of books and other special items.
A good indigo, shelves are usually pretty full and the staff is quite helpful.
fairly busy today, found the book i wanted tho. lots of good deals right too.
Very unkind, disrespect and rude staff! Should be very ashamed of themselves
Really nice store with a good variety of books. Very helpful staff!!
Always a joy !!! Great customer service! And very helpful!!!
So many cool stores and things to do - Indigo is the best!
Never opens on time. Consistently 10 -15 minutes late.
Good selection of books and friendly customer service
It’s a huge place but they have a lot of great books
Nice store, helpful staff, a great place for gifts.
Amazing place. Always have what I am looking for.
If you love books... this is your place to go.
